Biden Cancels Student Loan Debt for Federal Borrowers, Extends Pause for Loan Payments Through End of Year

Buy votes, create disparity and divide people, that’s what democrat policies are designed to do.  Joe Biden follows the playbook by cancelling $10k to $20k in student loan debt for those who have federal government loans.  Students with private loans backed by the federal government are not eligible.

Additionally, Biden has extended the “COVID emergency payment moratorium” through the end of the year.  No one with a federal student loan needs to restart paying until after the midterm election, in 2023.  [White House Fact Sheet Here]

If the economy is doing so great, then why the need for bailouts?

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced his long-awaited plan to deliver on a campaign promise to provide $10,000 in student debt cancellation for millions of Americans — and up to $10,000 more for those with the greatest financial need — along with new measures to lower the burden of repayment for their remaining federal student debt.

Borrowers who earn less than $125,000 a year, or families earning less than $250,000, would be eligible for the $10,000 loan forgiveness, Biden announced in a tweet. For recipients of Pell Grants, which are reserved for undergraduates with the most significant financial need, the federal government would cancel up to an additional $10,000 in federal loan debt.

Biden is also extending a pause on federal student loan payments for what he called the “final time” through the end of 2022. He was set to deliver remarks Wednesday afternoon at the White House to unveil his proposal to the public.

If his plan survives legal challenges that are almost certain to come, it could offer a windfall to a swath of the nation in the run-up to this fall’s midterm elections. More than 43 million people have federal student debt, with an average balance of $37,667, according to federal data. Nearly a third of borrowers owe less than $10,000, and about half owe less than $20,000. The White House estimates that Biden’s announcement would erase the federal student debt of about 20 million people. (read more)

A Vet told me some time back that I was lucky to leave Kollege while I could still think.

One of the best lessons I ever learned came from the auto shop teacher. Applies to life not just cars.

Yup, western docs provide scripts and cause irreversible damage when many times they simply need to treat the whole system (body and mind) with diet and/or lifestyle changes, herbs, supplements, exercise, meditation, etc.

We are mortal. We get ill, we die. While a healthy lifestyle is always adviseable, there are conditions that require pharmaceuticals to live. Diabetes being one of them. Good doctors use many tools.

Diabetes is usually brought on by an unhealthy eating lifestyle. That’s why you are told to change your diet at the first symptoms of it in hope of reversing it.

I know there are exceptions to the rule but for the most part almost everyone that has gotten diabetes is overweight.

Wrong. There are many with Type II, that fall into your category, but many who do not. Type I diabetes starts at any age and is deadly. No one can accuse Mary Tyler Moore of being fat. Diabetes is only one example. Hypothyroidism is another. There is no diet, herb or lifestyle to correct that. Hypertension another. There are many fit and healthy hypertensive folks who rely on meds to prevent stroking out. I could go on.

If all it took was herbs, food, excercise and meditation, we would see a portion of global population living well into their hundreds.

My grandmother’s sister had diabetes. My mother, older brother, younger sister and two younger half brothers had diabetes. I was diagnosed when I was in my 60’s. Granted I have a couple of extra pounds, but I think mine and my family’s was inherited.

Those that would vote for the DC bailout crowd because of this bailout, are already voting for them. And those that don’t get swayed by obvious attempts at bribery, won’t change because of this. And they know it. This has more to do with hastening the bankrupting and collapse of this nation so they can bring on their communist utopia than anything else.

I think there will be huge backlash from the working class over this. People keep saying they want “FREE” education and healthcare. Where do they think the money comes from?

At this point, I am so filled with hate for these people that I want them to abort their babies, have their genitalia amputated, get sterilized, and commit suicide due to the ensuing depression. I don’t want to share the planet with them anymore, and if they do all the perverse things they beg for, they won’t be around in 4 generations. Job done, and they did it to themselves with a bullet being fired!

Saying what is so often leads to short conversations–no matter who the conversation is with.

The University system, now a defacto Marxist indoctrination network, is a Government/private partnership similar to BigTech. No matter what happens, DC Democrats will always bail out and funnel taxpayer money to these two entities, since one serves to ‘Community Organize’ impressionable young people into leftwing Democrats, and the other serves as their Ministry of Propaganda.

Imo, at a minimum we need to immediately shut off the Federal money spigot to these, including student loans and Federal loan backing. Put the squeeze on these Communist parasites, and don’t let up…. sh*tcan the entire system if necessary, and then do the maga version of ‘build back better’. 🙂

It’s the parents that send their kids to these schools. It’s like blaming public government schools for crappy education instead of the parents either educating their children themselves or putting them in a private school. You get what you pay for. Government schools are government training centers. You can’t expect them to teach your worldview when the schools belong to them. College is exactly the same. If conservative parents send their children to progressive schools you get progressive students. How hard is this? Americans have abdicated their responsibility of training their children to the state and the state has educated in the states worldview and today is where we are.
I’m going to add that the transgender person competing in women sports would have been over if girls and women had said we’re not participating in this as long as a man can compete with us, but because they didn’t want to miss out and men have infiltrated woman sports and are kicking some serious tail of the women because women let it happen by participating. Same with these progressive schools and conservative parents. Don’t go to them. What does a person gain if he gets everything he wants and forfeits his own soul.

So, in a way, maybe it is only right that the government give all of those who voluntarily enrololed in the indoctrination camps some of their indoctrination money back.

Think of it this way. The illegals are sucking up way more money from us than the college kids who paid for commie indoctrination on credit. Gotta feel sorry for any kid paying for the shit poured on them in our colleges and universities.

This cannot pass the legal system. “Cancelling debt” means taxpayer paid. I didn’t see this go before Congress as a tax, so how can taxpayers pay?
Remember Cain’s 9-9-9 plan? No politician playing favorites or picking winners. We need a system like that.
Legally, this should never pass and Biden knows this is just for a bump in the polls for Dems and to sidetrack all from the Fed meeting later this week.
Gonna be some bad news from the Fed if Sleepy Joe did a presser today for cancelling student debt.

another question about this corrupt regime:

background: previously the joe malarkey circus decided to relieve students who are on the hook for very dubious online “education” degree programs. The ITT “technical institute. The purpose (narrative) is that this org was fraudulent. (and also DEVRY)

You can read it here:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/edwardconroy/2022/08/17/biden-department-of-education-forgives-39-billion-in-student-loans-for-former-itt-technical-institute-students/?sh=11dfb4741973

the question: if the ITT org is fraudulent, then why isn’t the USG filing suit and shuttering the business and prosecuting for criminality? And then using that money to compensate students with that recovered money.

it’s not a small number….3.9 BILLION (capitol B).

There is so much corruption in this administration. And not just “lazy incompetent corruption”, but the real type…where they actively search for and then manufacture a crisis then produce MORE TAX SPENDING to “solve it”. To say I am suspicious is an understatement.

let this sink in…orgs like itt and devry receive federal money for their educational programs. THIS IS A FACT.

we are to believe that all these years the USG is handing out money and not checking that the learning online centers are not legit?

so when you think of it, this is fraud of tax payer money twice.

once for funding these orgs..and then canceling student loans…both using tax payer money.

God Bless America

I expect the uni-party to forgive all alimony and child support for 2024.

I got a loan to get a car that got me to work. Paid it off. I got me another loan to get a better car to get a better job and make sure I could get there. Paid that loan off too. Got training at trade school and assorted community colleges that got me another better job that would pay for a mortgage. Paid that off too. I am now retired with a mortgage that has debt less than half of the homes value because, I paid extra every month to pay it down.

So now because I have worked so hard to get where I’m at, I have to pay college loans for some sniveling 25 year old child who has a degree in equatorial ice studies and only uses that degree to put ice in drinks in a bar?

Are they seriously trying to piss off the majority of America with credit card, mortgage, and auto loan debt, or can they possibly be so stupid we can’t comprehend?

Or, do they really want to lose the house and senate to avoid being held responsible for the coming disaster? Does anybody think they can defend their record for 2 more years? I think they want republicans in control so they can lie and say the “do nothing” 2023-2024 republican congress is at fault all the while their sneaky bureaucratic minions continue to implement their radical agenda.

Think about that. Joe or Kamala will never sign any republican legislation which then sets up the new congress for failure, and the low IQ voters will buy it!

We, obviously, are not taking care of a great opportunity both to save $$$$ and eliminate the Uniparty. Why do we even need Congress when Joey BagofBullshit has an open checkbook ?

Wow. Imagine all the things I could have had in life if my wife and I hadn’t made personal sacrifices to pay for 7 kids’ educations.

Once again, personal responsibility is punished.

If you have a college degree, why do you need your student loan debt forgiven? You should be able to pay it off.

Many student loans are not through federal loan program. Lower income get federal loans, higher income have to get private loans.

This is about as subtle and transparent as that time Bush cut everybody an IRS refund check before the election.

With his name on it.

Stupid kids won’t care, or think through the ramifications, or consider how responsible parents who did the right thing are being screwed royally for their sacrifice.

They’ll just take the cash, thank the Commies, and tick the box on election day for the party that gave them a freebie.

That’s exactly right! Harvard, University of Texas/Texas A&M, Yale, Stanford, Princeton… Each of them is a hedge fund with a schools attached to it. Seize the endowments!

They are abusing their non-profit status!

Further … colleges should be made to RAISE their admission standards … or at least stop LOWERING their admission standards. Our public high schools are reporting RECORD LOW graduation rates and test scores have plummeted. Fact is … while the colleges have expanded their student bodies … the student quality has tanked. Colleges are nothing more than places where young people occupy time and space … and the graduation rates are horrendous.

Not to mention that colleges are leftist indoctrination sanitariums.

It’s mind boggling to me that there are still millions of American citizens who will gladly vote for any pile of DNC crap that comes along, especially woking class American citizens. Everything the left does just causes more and more misery for the working class. It’s as if they want to start a civil war, or at least to push us right up to the edge of it.
