Since the original innocuous tweet 48 hours ago, from a private account, which did not even use the name “Trump,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been absolutely silent about the illicit FBI raid on the home of Florida citizen and former President Donald J Trump. DeSantis is showing us all who he really is; but are you willing to accept it?
The raid on President Trump’s home is a moment for all to stand and take a position. On the day after the raid, much like the entire DC Decepticon establishment, Ron DeSantis hid in the bunker and kept quiet. No tweets. No appearances. Nothing that would create a situation where he would have to enter this ‘time of choosing.’ This is what politicians do. This is what Nikki Haley does. Avoiding controversy is not what war time leaders do.
On the second day after the raid, again with the politics of the issue as the dominating consideration, DeSantis releases a recording of a statement as Florida schools begin to open for the fall semester. Again, avoiding any situation where he would be asked to take a position on the raid. Please take note and pay attention. These are the moments that matter, the examples that show the true intents and motives of political leaders.
DeSantis is doing what he has been advised to do.
The silence of DeSantis is deafening.
DeSantis’ supporters, cheerleaders, GOPe promoters and sycophants will ignore it, but deep in their psyche they know what I am saying is true.
Ron DeSantis is a good governor for the state of Florida and has many attributes that make him important for a host of reasons, but this is not a war-time general. Ron DeSantis is a politician.
Accept things as they are, not as you would wish them to be. Because this is the same man that many people would select to face the greatest enemy to our republic. DeSantis is showing us right now that he does not possess the courage, desire in scale, or ability to fight the enemy we face in this battle.
DeSantis is a good finisher, a good maintainer, a good and solid ally who operates well when surrounded by the fortune of an aligned legislative body; but he is not yet the weapon that can stop the corrupt UniParty enemy within our republic.
There are moments that show the character of the politicians in the club apparatus. The pathetic and embarrassing Ted Cruz speech at the 2016 RNC nominating convention was one of those moments. The response, or lack thereof, to an illegitimate FBI raid on the personal home of the leader of the republican party is yet another.
Accept things as they are, you will be far less disappointed later on.

If DeSantis thinks, at this point, that he can sneak in the back door, that he can cut the baby in half, he is sillier than Ted Cruz.

It is highly questionable if any Republican will ever be President again. The rhetoric, the hyperbole of a one-Party State will shortly become hard reality. The impending death of the elderly McConnell may spell the end of the usefulness of the Republican phantasm. California is already staging elections between two Democrats. And they insist that is democracy.
The age of the butter won’t melt in their mouth Republicans, like Nikki Haley, is over.
In most one-Party States, lion tamer is a safer job than leader of the opposition. Do any the hair-splitting wimps that plague us in the current GOP have the guts (or parts lower) for that job?
That’s why we need the monster vote. If everyone turns out to vote, they can’t cheat with your name. If the margin is so huge, and everyone votes on Election Day not by absentee or mail in or early voting, the number of manufactured ballots overnight has to be so high that they will expose themselves. That said, and in response to the lack of an extreme response on the raid, I do not know what is on his mind. I do know that he is a VERY calculating person. He never shoots from the hip. And when he shoots, he does not miss.
Right now, his ONLY responsibility is the welfare of Florida citizens. And secondary to that, getting re-elected. Yes, Trump is a Florida citizen, and I feel confident that if there’s anything he can do, he will.

As a new Florida resident, I am deeply disturbed by Gov. DeSantis response. He should have gone to MAL and held a press conference with the sheriff’s in the background and sent a clear message to the FBI. He would have been a hero. But he didn’t do that. Instead he did what he was told. Avoid the situation. Sadly, he must be one of them.
If you’re not happy I Strongly recommend you go back to where you came from. I’ve lived here practically my whole life. We need less people here, not more.

Unfortunately, truly courageous leaders emerge from nowhere during times of extreme conditions and duress (war) – the weak leaders are outted quickly. We are at war, many “leaders” will fall by the wayside or be trampled by the force of what is coming. Trump is not one of those, but people like him are exceptional and rare.

Think about that, their life was put on the line. And her we have a gentleman afraid or calculating to just put is political well being on the line. He’s either a coward or a calculating fool. I say that with conviction, he is truly on one these two characters (COWARD or CALCULATING FOOL). He’s foolish to not see the watershed moment that this event truly is. He’s pathetic. Remember its too late for him to come out now. His reaction should have been visceral and immediate, not patient and calculating.

In my opinion, Trump does not like anyone who tries to usurp the MAGA movement from him. All he has done so far (regarding the FBI raid) is issue a statement that wasn’t as good as Kari Lake’s statement.
I hope he is talking to other Florida conservatives to come up with legislation and policies that terminates any cooperation with the FBI and other Federal level agencies that are violating legal precedents.
I don’t know how long I should wait but it will be shorter than any time I allow any other GOP governor to do likewise. Same for any GOP senator or congressman.
I judge all GOP politicians by this standard. Not some. All of them. So you are right to condemn DeSantis for taking more than 1 day to make some visible response (even if just calling for meetings to discuss options).
I hope I see everyone apply this standard to all other GOP politicians.

If I was in his shoes as governor, I would have been extremely upset if this had gone down in my state without any forewarning. But if I had not been tipped off AND I was a loyal friend of Trump’s, why would I remain silent?

Leadership is a fragile thing and Ron Desantis lacks the courage to be the true Leader America needs in this final battle for liberty and freedom and good versus evil.
Our opinion of Desantis as a potential candidate for Prez continues to deteriorate. The trend we are seeing is he and other repub hopefuls simply don’t have the true moral courage to be President of the United States. Sure, they hit some home runs that make them look authentic, but when the battlefield gets tough they always fold. We saw this in Nikki Haley when she was governor of SC with the Confederate battle flag controversy. She was all too willing to “instantly” become OVERLY MODERATE and give in to the left. The message she sent with her overt behavior was that she would do anything just to “appease” the radical left and their agenda and stop the pain.
Here we see the depth and character of Ron Desantis crack and break. Is he that afraid of the deep state? If so he is the wrong guy to sit in the White House because he lacks the moral courage to lead the existential fight that needs to happen and that we are on a collision course for. He is a Colonel at best and not a General. We want “the” General.

I heard Hannity say that the security cameras in the house were left on, although the FIB wanted them off. Now the FIB wants the film. Also, the FIB is supposed to wear a body camera when they do a raid.
The Trump family may decide not to release their private camera footage until the FIB makes their move.

Premature to be making this verdict on DeSantis. If, and it is an if, RD is working with Team Trump and devising some legal strategy here, I would expect RD to be tight lipped right now.
However, if that proves not to be the case, I’ll share in some of that disappointment of RD. But he’s done so much good that I think he’s earned the benefit of the doubt right now.

Living in Florida I was really stoked about Desantis as the governor of the state I live in. The guy running against him in the gubernatorial election would have been a lot worse if he had won the election. And I still feel he is doing a good job since he has been governor for Florida.
I love coming to this site because Sundance is a realist. He looks at how things really are. You could ask for no better friend than that. Whistling past the graveyard will never make things better because you choose to ignore “what is”.
I’m disappointed that he is reacting this way to what happened in his own state when people like Kari Lake is speaking truth to power about it but better to know how he stands now than to find out when he is elected to a federal office.

It has been an interesting exercise to see who came out and immediately condemned the raid (Kari Lake, Elise Stefanik) vs those political opportunists who waited to see which way the wind was blowing before issuing carefully worded statements (McCarthy, Pence, Cruz, Rubio) vs those who only put them out when it was clear they were getting destroyed for refusing to comment (McConnell) vs those who are hiding and not saying anything at all…(Sadly, this appears, at this time, to include Ron DeSantis, which is a disappointment, to say the least!)

I have told the DeSantis followers that there is no way a man without money, with a small family, and a sick wife, could stand up to what the FBI has in store for any populist candidate for President. They seem to believe that what is happening to Trump will magically end with him, allowing DeSantis an easy path to the presidency. They seem to me to be fools.
