The energy crisis in Germany is now a confluence of terrible events that will snowball well into next year.
The world’s largest chemical company, BASF, has announced they will cut down the production of ammonia in order to use less natural gas.
In the short term this will help Germany build up natural gas supplies to survive a cold winter with predicted rationing still planned. However, in the long term the shortage of ammonia means less fertilizer which will mean future shortages and increased costs for farmers; ultimately creating lower yields next year.
FRANKFURT, July 27 (Reuters) – Germany’s BASF (BASFn.DE), the world’s largest chemical company, is cutting ammonia production further due to soaring natural gas prices, it said on Wednesday, with potential ramifications from farming to fizzy drinks.
Germany’s biggest ammonia maker SKW Piesteritz and number four Ineos also said they could not rule out production cuts as the country grapples with disruption to Russian gas supplies.
Ammonia plays a key role in the manufacturing of fertiliser, engineering plastics and diesel exhaust fluid. Its production also yields high-purity carbon dioxide (CO2) as a byproduct, which is needed by the meat and fizzy drinks industries.
“We are reducing production at facilities that require large volumes of natural gas, such as ammonia plants,” BASF Chief Executive said in a media call after the release of quarterly results, confirming an earlier Reuters report.
[…] Unlike many European countries, Germany has no liquefied natural gas (LNG) port terminals to replace Russian pipeline gas. That means companies are under political and commercial pressure to reduce gas intensive activities if gas deliveries are cut further.
[…] Russia resumed pumping gas via its biggest pipeline to Europe, Nord Stream 1, on July 21 after a 10-day maintenance outage, but Gazprom (GAZP.MM) on Monday said supplies to Germany would drop to just 20% of capacity. (read more)
Good Lord.
Indeed.
Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch invented the Haber Process that takes nitrogen and natural gas ( methane ) over a catalyst at high temperatures and pressure to produce ammonia.
It produces ammonium nitrate, plastics and CO2 and a few other goodies.
Haber used the ammonium nitrate in war explosives during WW1 for Germany and incidentally also made the chlorine gas used in the trenches during WW1.
He also contributed his part for WW2 unknown to him, by making Ziklon B as a pesticide that had a stinky additive added to it so you could smell if it was spilled.
The Nazis had that smell removed in the production later on to make it odorless and tasteless.
But thanks to him with the use of his Ammonium nitrate fertilizers we were able to increase food production on a massive worldwide scale enabling the population of the Earth to increase by roughly 4-5 billion people.
You and I are probably here because of this.
A interesting man who won the Nobel Prize for this.
Not a snarky question. Is using animal fetilizer not as effective or more costly? I know they still do that around here. A lot of Amish farms but also my back door neighbor on his black angus pastures.
For the amount of agriculture farming in the U.S.- quite simply..there ain’t that much manure to do the job.
And they are trying to reduce animals also to reduce methane pollution and further reduce fertilizers used in feed and hay production.
Oh isn’t this a wonderful world we live in?
reduce methane pollution
Not aware of any truly scientific studies showing animal farts are a problem anywhere in the world. If that were true, shouldn’t we just kill all the animals around the world to eliminate all the animal farts?
When the great herds of buffalo roamed the west the farts would have been off the charts resulting in maximum global warming. Oh but it is AGW not BGW.
just kill the Dimm/commies…..useless meat eaters that fart far too much and breath out CO2
Vegans are the biggest farters.
It’s those beans.
Well, beans are the magical fruit after all…
I’m not aware of any truly scientific studies for any of this “Green” manure we are living through. All my research suggests past eras of global warming has been a positive for humanity with more land being available for food production. Agriculture and livestock in Greenland circa 1,000 AD or grapes in the British Iles leading to wines that riveled those from France during that time period. More arable land in Europe during that period gave rise to more attention to the arts and sciences and the building of the great cathedrals of Europe. People could think about things other than gathering food.
The Roman Empire was built during a warming period and another some 6,000 years ago led to advances in china and the Indian Subcontinent. But today it will kill us all! Go Figure!
That is if you buy into the BS of Global warming today which I do not! The data I have seen indicates a cooling trend for the past 20 years.
All of the real scientific data points to the Earth entering another ice age.
Scientists have also been predicting a grand solar minimum for more than a decade now.
Much like the last one that coincided with the Little Ice Age. Only need a bit more volcanic activity to recreate similar climatic conditions.
We are already in a GSM cycle. Just not yet at the bottom of the average temperature trough.
The University of California, I forget which campus specifically, was contracted by the state of CA, Water Resources Control Board, to measure the amount of methane produced by “farting” bovine.
I put the contract together and processed it. The specs for the contract were provided by the Environmental Specialist.
I was laughing out load when I received that assignment; I didn’t believe they were serious but yes, taxpayers pay for cow fart assessments. I wish I could remember more of the specifics of the specs but it has been about 20 years.
probably UC Davis, big AG college
Just when you think the greenie idiots can’t get any worse, the Scandinavians have developed special cow trousers that are fitted with a special pipe to collect the cows farts.
TD, so the Scandinavians are in to animal abuse. The depths some humans sink to are ridiculous.
MAGA/SA!
And Congressman Swalwell
It is hard to believe the insanity of the American Libtard. The US government is now a Totalitarian government run by Libtards.
Its a climate cult.
It’s a cult of blood-thirsty and power-hungry genocidal maniacs who will stop at NOTHING to achieve their goals.
Misery, suffering, destruction and death are the calling cards of the democrat party and their like minded ilk.
And they have the brain dead, MSM reading Leftists who believe all these lies that have taken over our country.
Soooooo what should we do?
I have a plan but it requires strength, courage, organization, manipulation, faith and a will to fight and defeat these evil democratic pigs, their propanganda machine-the MSM and their globalists and RINO friends.
We meet at ……………..nowhere…….but everywhere.
Ther might be enough in DC!
Swalwell should be the biggest source.
There is…it’s just all located in DC and fuel would cost too much to haul it all over the country,
Flush TWICE,…
its a long way to D.C.
edited. Conservative Foundations ☝️beat me to it.
Couldn’t help myself!
what if we pumped it directly out of the capital building?
Because it’s not as effective it takes more applications. More trips across the fields takes more energy and increases soil erosion. It also uses more water.
Organic farming is much harder on the planet.
The answer to that is to clean out all the manure in Washington DC.
There is enough manure….created by the swamp creatures spewing there B.S. in D.C.!
4, sorry but I can’t resist some humor… We should be able to get plenty of BS out of D.C. & the msm 😉
MAGA/SA!
It’s all in Washington D.C..
It’s a scale issue.
Animal fertilizer is a good resource for small farms, and smaller acres. However, industrialized farming for mega-farms, which is what feeds the majority, requires industrial fertilizer and modern chemicals.
It’s an issue of the current process feeds billions, and the alternatives that are being suggested feed millions.
How do you deal with the gap between billions and millions?
Hunger games!
Germany eating their seed corn.
I don’t think they’re laughing at President Trump now!
“Vaccinate” them…problem solved!
Guess I should have kept reading, as first prize was already taken. Congratulations.
And then Boost in case you missed any.
Die MF’ers.
Ain’t this point I really have no sympathy….not even for the Devil himself…I’m talking to you Mr. Fauci.
He has perfect protection
Ah, that makes sense. And of course they are also trying to do away with the amount of livestock so there would be even less available.
A “vaccine” that is not really a vaccine. What do I win?
‘Great! What do I win?’
‘A sad feeling.’
‘Awwwwww.’
Good answer. But those huge commercial “farms” are death zones for everything but the crop. The soil is lifeless powder; there are no earthworms or microscopic creatures. It is polluted with chemicals like glyphosate (Roundup) and insecticide. These find their way into our food. As well, the food harvested from those acres is lacking in vital trace nutrients. The human cost of depending on such unhealthy food is very high, and that needs to be figured into the economic analysis.
I believe we need to move away from the current way we produce our food. Dairy, eggs and most meats come at the cost of much animal suffering, and that must be changed too. But it must be done slowly so there is not starvation and desperation. The people forcing this change are the same clowns who botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
I also noticed a change when my customers and neighbors moved from flood irrigation to drip irrigation, and from field crops to permanent crops.
Flood irrigation is more conducive to natural fertilizers and nitrogen fixing crops, whereas drip irrigation tends to concentrate small amounts of water into the most productive root areas and the necessities of this concentration mean injected fertilizers for nutrition in those more restricted zones.
I learned from the early adopters and used the same technology at my rural property back in the 80’s. However, I maintained field cover, what I term a ‘dirty’ field, for natural fertilization, wildlife habitat and to prevent soil erosion. The difference was I wasn’t making a living from the land, rather servicing farmers from the shop on the land. Big difference.
I am ignorant, What are “permanent crops”??
Perennials, not annuals, basically. My sis is a Kansas wheat farmer and has been looking into perennial wheats. They are less productive but do not have to tilled and reseeded every year.
Thank you, for the “perennials” clarification, never heard of “permanent crops.”
So much is occurring that it’s easy to miss some things and sometimes a lot of things.
You are full of Libtard insanity.
There are many people who genuinely care about the well being of the natural world and living creatures. They are not finding a home with either the Left or the Right. I am not vaxxed and did not mask. I am utterly un-woke. I lost half my family because I supported Trump. But now I see the Right showing no regard for the poisoning of the Earth. Or for the suffering of the food animals. Both sides are duking it out over a theoretical “warming” abstraction and conveniently ignoring the real issues.
Prove you lost half your family.
You do have a mental issue, but don’t feel like the Lone Ranger all Libtards do.
PDS : Polarization Derangement Syndrome. You got it.
My hens. My meat birds. My goats.
My husbandry and my rendering methods.
None of it is anybody’s #@!%$ business.
I am not talking about small farmers. They have relationships with their animals — as do I with my chickens and sheep. I am talking about the huge commercial operations. The animals live in anxiety because they have no caretaker relationship. I would bet your animals feel protected by you.
So, we are GRADUALLY eased away from eating animals, and towards eating bugs and algae, and given TIME to adapt, and we gradually evolved to look like anteaters, and readily accept the changes.
Sorry, not for me.
I agree their are better ways to produce food, am exploring Aquaponics myself, and small scale feeding of chickens, rabbits and pigs with a meal made from bugs, I see nothing wrong with eating animal produce, if done well.
“Bugs” are becoming a straw man. Sheesh !
For sure nothing wrong with it. Jesus killed and cooked fish. I eat my chickens and sheep. They live a good life, without fear. And I am learning to eat more like the traditional Oriental diet, with more veggies and smaller bits of meat.
I agree mondopinion. Forcing this change is market manipulation and then some. The first two letters of WEF, World Economic, describes an organized monopoly. Individuals of this group are in the resources and means of production of the future market components and simultaneously leveraging world leaders to undercut their competition…straight up monopolistic anti-trust practices.
“How do you deal with the gap between billions and millions?”
you reduce the # of humans needing to be fed by purposefully killing them off.
by whatever means necessary.
Covid vaccines.
MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO ELIMINATE AS MANY MILLIONS OF DEMOCRATIC LIBERALS AS NEEDED TO BALANCE IT OUT. PUT ME DOWN TO ELIMINATE A DOZEN. ALWAYS GLAD TO HELP
Not enough animal fertilizer for all acres. Also synthetic fertilizer has specific ratios of NPK that are specific to certain crops. Without modern fertilizer you get a lower yield.
OTOH synthetic fertilizer helps strip the soil and adds nothing back to it, whereas animal manure/green fertilizer does add back minerals and helps build topsoil.
Animal fertilizer may also add salt, and that may make the soil less productive over time.
I’m farm born with ag college educated parents and never heard of that. It is irrigation that salts the soil over time.
Where I lived and worked for decades for ag customers the land was reclaimed from alkali flats with huge amounts of acids and other soil chemicals, mostly after WW2, and became something of a legend in the farming world. Better, more enormous, farming through chemistry. Then came selenium and Kesterson. My early career was working for what later become JR Simplot in the area, providing nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers for the huge corporate farms.
Looking across the road, the almond harvest appears light this year. Myself, I liked the grapes more. Made for a good snack in summer. Nothing quite like Thompsons getting sugared up for raisins. No more farmworkers pooping in the bushes though; they’re all gone now, along with the huge piles of cattle manure in the spring. It’s all chemical tanks and fertilizer injection now.
Didnt JR have the most humungous American Flag flying over his “House”(more like a castle on a hill) in Southern ID? Simplot was a Potato company, back in the day, yes?
Irrigation water is treated by all farmers to eliminate any “salts” in the irrigation water.
Not true
You have habit of throwing out things that you think are absolute,
but aren’t.
Maybe do some homework, or check yourself
This is combated by adding acid (gypsum). I have taken soil unsuitable for farming and made it suitable by treating the bad soil.
If you wanna talk salt…what about the TONS AND TONS of it they put on our roads every winter! They put so much on that I’ve seen a puddle on our highway when it was 25 below out! It all has to go somewhere in the spring when it melts!
OTOH synthetic fertilizer helps strip the soil and adds nothing back to it….
If the goal of, say, a 100 acre plot is to grow XYZ crop, and if synthetic fertilizer produces 4X the yield as non-synthetic fertilizer, thereby feeding thousands instead of hundreds of people….then what difference does it make if the soil gets whacked?
The soil does not “get whacked”. It becomes arable soil.
It is why all farmers supplement manure when available and practical.
I have been using sheep manure and well-composted chicken manure for years now. The plants grow amazingly and the soil is teeming with life. However, since manures are long on nitrogen and phosphorous, and short on potassiun (the third element in the NPP ratio), I get a lot of greenery and root growth, but a bit less yield on tomatoes, green peppers, beans etc. I buy commercial potassium to supplement those plants lightly. . Hardwood ash is rich in potassium, but tricky to use.
There is a huge difference growing for your kitchen table and growing for the tables of the masses.
There is a middle scale which you are conveniently ignoring — why be so defensive?
For thousands of years small farmers produced for themselves AND for the local farmers’ market (and often also for the local Poobah and his enforcers/soldiers.) I would have no objection to large scale farming if it were healthy — but it is not. It is a dead end.
Natural fertilizers like animal manures or worm castings do not produce the abundance of crops that are needed to feed the world. That is why there is a several food shortage in Sri Lanka. The country went green (ESG score of 98) and prevented farmers from using commercial fertilizers and crops came in at about 50% of the amount when using commercial fertilizers.
My son-in-law has been using only natural fertilizers in his garden this year. My daughter tells me he got a total crop of about two dozen tomatoes from 8 bushes, no cucumbers, 3 squash, 5 cantaloupes about 4- 5 inches in diameter, and enough green beans for two meals. He says he is getting some okra, but my daughter says that the okra plants are about 1 – 1.5 feet high. Does that sound like it is worth the effort?
Something else went wrong there. I have had bumper crops with no artificial fertilizer, on soil that had time to build up a rich population of earthworms and micro biota. The plants were a bit top heacy with greenery, but still produced well. They also were productive for a longer time.
I’m experiencing the same thing with my garden but I suspected it was a lack of pollinators here in the high desert. Lots of work with not much to show for it. Used so-called “organic” commercial fertilizers and only lightly used Neem oil (and diatomaceous earth) as a pesticide before the flowers came out in fear of hurting the very occasional bee that visited the garden. Ten large garden containers of veggie plants will probably not provide enough to bother dehydrating for winter use. Will plug away this Fall and see if I can use aged horse manure (we have two horses), although I’ve heard the hay growers often use a pesticide that carries over to the garden if used there.
I avoid horse manure after a load of it killed my earthworms because the horses were dosed with worm medicine every month.
Thanks for the heads up, mondo! One of our neighbors has three steers so will ask them about worming (have no idea if done in cattle).
Most welcome. Those were blue ribbon work horses. I think a lot farmers only worm their livestock once a year.
One of my tomatoes had me gathering 28-35 tomatoes for several days straight! Couldn’t eat or share them fast enough! It has slowed down now to 5-9 per day; thank goodness. The other one puts out only 2-4 a day. Both are in the dirt about 10’ from each other.
You may know this but many people don’t — Determinate tomatoes have been bred to produce all their fruit within a short time; these are preferred by commercial growers. Indeterminate tomato types produce fewer fruit at a time, but start earlier and continue longer.
Mondopinion, you’ve got some awesome information!
Stop commercial fertilizer and the depopulation of the World will be quicker than Bill Gates and Fauci with their vaccine.
Animals quantities are being reduced to reduce flatulence which also means a reduction in manure. So we got that going for us.
I’ve noticed the prices triple for manure at the local big box.
We stocked up on this coming seasons fertilizer needs and yes prices are up and found what it thought we might need. Picked up a few more seeds. NO bird supplies other then houses. This was Rural King and there were more holes today than we have seen so far.
Hi Kim. Without any human-made nitrogen fertilizer, it’s estimated that 2 to 3 billion people in the world would starve.
You might be interested in the related video I posted below.
All farmers use all the manure produced. The American people would starve if animal fertilizer was the only source.
Just read the Jackasses (very appropriate mascot for the communist democrat party) are targeting the Amish too.
There will be less manure makers because there will be less animal feed. How much extra are you paying for feed ?
Not nearly as effective. Also not enough. Although there will be enough to feed the desired population when the globalists get done with culling.
Reccomend reading the Humanure handbook, I believe it is.
Before you go “ich!” it instructs in how to SAFELY compost human waste to make high quality fertiliser, explains WHY it is safe, and, tells you TMI on what actually goes on, with municipal wastewater systems, so you have something to compare to.
Lets just say “It ain’t great” regarding how we currently deal with human manure.
I haven’t read much about it, but I suspect separating the human manure from all the other stuff that goes down the drain must be a big problem.
I was imagining a separate 5 gal bucket in the bathroom — with lid, of course! They do make bucket seats (not the car kind) for campers.
Yes. I think they do that sort of thing in India. One job the Dalits/Untouchables do is to collect the “night soil” and bring it out to the farmers. Not sure, but probably the same happened in Shakespeare’s London . . It will be interesting to see how modern tech people make it all happen without smell or mess. Maybe biodegradeable plastic bags in those buckets?
There is no free lunch.
Modern industrial farms produce way more food per acre than these ancient but still good methods; do or did.
I use them myself but I’m not trying to feed the world or make money. Just become more self sufficient.
BTW mulching leaves to make the acidic soil potatoes love works really well. I don’t look at our non food trees the same way anymore. They are making fertilizer.
Anyway, this is where Davos is driving us to.
Come to think of I should increase my stock of NPK.
Anyway, the population is much too large to support pure organic farming methods, just ask the farmers in Sri Lanka.
Though reducing meat consumption by 90% would help. Basically why they are also pushing bugs.
But don’t expect bugs in bins at your store but bug based protein in processed foods.
Another obvious solution is to not use prime farm land to make ethanol. One fill up of an SUV would feed one person for a year. Complete madness. Land is for food, not fuel.
But then what do you expect from an illegitimate government?
It’s so frustrating to know how to avoid the mass murder solutions of Davos.
And yet not be in position, yet, to move the needle.
You are a voice of sanity.
Manure is organic waste. It has positive attributes. It decomposes slowly, adds nitrogen to resultant soil, helps break up clay soils and is cheap.
Plants need Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Magnesium, and specific pH levels of soil to achieve maximum effective growth.
Chemical fertilizers allow for rapid provision of Nitrogen and, depending upon the type of fertilizer, other nutrients.
Manure is less concentrated, requires more transportation, is slower to provide nutrients, and ultimately less cost effective in a growing season. Changing from fertilizer to manure only, requires more land, lower yields, more fuel, more labor, and higher product costs.
Manure is a viable option IF yields are not a problem and people are willing to pay 50% or more for products.
If you can survive on the yield from crops using manure, then fine. Otherwise, you need 20% to 50% more land and half the yield. Either you use chemical fertilizers or 25% of the world starves. That’s 2 Billion people. The Amish aren’t feeding the world. Modern farmers use GPS guided tractors, computer controlled fertilizer application, and are so cost conscious it would make you reel. Misapplication of fertilizers is not a modern farming issue, but a 2nd or 3rd world problem.
We have only begun to explore the possibilities of food production. We don’t need to go back to traditional farming .. we can improve what we do. But we should not be growing and eating unhealthy food just because there are too many people.
When I walk through the supermarket I see shelves filled with processed junk promoted with too much packaging and advertising. How do you factor that into the threat of food shortages ?
Excellent summary.
The Germans must be laughing hysterically right about now.
The arrogance of the Germans was and is astounding.
Only navel gazing going on there right now. No one is actually asking- what bad decisions actually got us into this mess? Truly baffling.
.
Unless they knew the long-term agenda.
.
Oh thank you for this clip! I remembered it but didn’t know where to look it up.
Yeah we Germans are great Engineers but we sure make a mess of many other things. Politics is certainly not our strong suite if you get my drift. Thankfully my ancestors got out a couple hundred years ago.
People seem to slip from focus. The Germans, Americans, and all euro trash and Canadians and Oz pols knew this was coming and welcome it.
That’s why they laughed at what he was saying. Kind of like “Silly Trump, he thinks we want our people to survive!!”
Yeah, PDJT thinks we want our people to survive?? No only the 3rd world immigrants will be subsidized. Our native population, oh well they are being replaced.
PDJT cares for ALL the common people worldwide, but especially in the USA. That’s why “All the Elites and elite wannabes HATE HIM”
Not sure if you saw this article today…Summarizes the thoughts of the Oligarchs better than I could…
They Can’t let Him Back In Michael Anton
Forwarded that to a few friends. Excellent read.
Thank you, Interesting article, especially the various gamed options.
Back then she was German Defense Minister. Now she is head of the EU:
There’s nothing more dangerous than this atheistic death cult.
That is the root of it, I think. They think they are gods and disavow the one true God. That’s a pretty dangerous game to play.
Yes, especially for them everyone is going to go before God and give an account of themselves. Unless you’re born again believer in Jesus Christ as your savior there’s no hope for you.
There will be no bread for the breadlines!
Trump tried to warn you, but you laughed at him. Fortunately he won’t reciprocate. The food and energy riots, on the other hand, will be devastating.
Good luck staying green!
Funny how not a solitary person is asking for Biden to increase gas output to help out Germany. That’s how you know it ‘s all engineered on purpose.
^ See (read) article above: […] Unlike many European countries, Germany has no liquefied natural gas (LNG) port terminals to replace Russian pipeline gas.
They could truck it in from Poland next door who does have LNG terminals.
I would think, it might be a good time for them to build one in Hamburg now.
That and I saw on ZH that the Rhine’s water levels are low, so they can’t move as much coal by barge as they normally wood.
PJDT right again.
Well, he is a very stable genius!
Russia has stated several times that the Nordstream 2 pipeline can supply all that Germany needs, but sanctions have left it closed. Nordstream 1 is still missing the Siemans turbines that were sent by Siemans to Canada that were supposed to be returned repaired, but they have not arrived. And another turbine is down and needs repair. Ukraine shut off one pipeline through Ukraine with some excuse that sounded questionable. That’s why Russia is only able to provide 20% of the usual amount.
The idea of the EU voluntarily reducing gas consumption by 15% and sending that amount to Germany is half-baked at best and very likely to fail completely.
Yeah, The law of unintended consequences bites another behind.🤗😁
7 of the 8 turbines are off the grid and controlled by Siemens, not Gazprom. Thé Gazprom contract states the turbines will be made and serviced by Siemens. Gazprom, Putin and Russia have nothing to do with this turbine problem and output issue of 20%. The Germans and Canadians have made their own bed and are creating these delays and shenanigans on purpose. Meanwhile, MSM blames Putin.
Correct. Poached from another site:
Germany knew the issues with Nordstream 1 since late May. Siemens informed them, and Canada and Russia of the problems. They just don’t want to fix it. Putin offered to open Nordstream 2 to make up for the issues and Scholz said no. As for Nordstream 1, the Russians can’t do anything – it’s all Siemens tech, turbines and compressors. He actually explained all of this in a July 19th interview in Tehran:
So, first one of the routes in Ukraine was shut down, then Yamal-Europe was shut down, now Nord Stream 1, which is one of the main routes – we pump 55 billion cubic metres a year through it. There are five Siemens gas compressor stations working there, and one is on standby. One compressor had to be sent out for repairs. A repaired compressor was supposed to come from Canada, from the Siemens plant in Canada, to replace it. But it ended up under sanctions in Canada. So, one pumping station, just one piece of equipment was out of order because of scheduled maintenance work and it has not been returned from Canada.
Now we are being told that the unit will be delivered from Canada soon, but Gazprom does not have any official documents yet. We must certainly obtain them, because this is our property, it is the property of Gazprom. Gazprom should receive not only the hardware, not only the gas pumping unit, but also the accompanying documents, both legal and technical documentation. We must be able to see what Gazprom is taking – the turbine’s current condition as well as its legal status, whether it is under sanctions or not, what we can do with it, or maybe they are taking it back tomorrow. But that is not all.
The problem is that at the end of July, on July 26, I think – we can ask Gazprom – another turbine should be sent for routine maintenance, for repairs. And where will we get a replacement from? We do not know.
One more turbine is actually out of order because of some crumbling of its internal liner. Siemens has confirmed this. That leaves two operational units, which are pumping 60 million per day. So, if one more is delivered, fine, we will have two in operation. But if it is not, only one will be left, and it will pump only 30 million cubic meters per day. You can count how much time it will take to pump the rest. How is this Gazprom’s responsibility? What does Gazprom even have to do with this? They have cut off one route, then another, and sanctioned this gas pumping equipment. Gazprom is ready to pump as much gas as necessary. But they have shut everything down.
NOW, the other issue for the EU is that Naftogaz and Ukraine just went into default on July 19th, which is why Germany scrambled to get the turbine back from Canada as if Naftogaz defaults, gas transit via Ukraine may be compromised. Nordstream 2 was built for this, but Scholz doesn’t want to use it. So, they are correcting NOTHING.

They were warned about NS1 needing to go to reduced flows a few YEARS ago.. the entire point of building NS2 was to allow NS1 to be shut down for upgrades and repairs…
The idea of NS2 was to make sure there was no supply dip at the 10 year maintenance cycle, plus also to make sure it was online when the last three German nuclear reactors went offline at the end of 2022.
They were warned about NS1 needing to go to reduced flows a few YEARS ago.. the entire point of building NS2 was to allow NS1 to be shut down for upgrades and repairs…
Belle, Agree. EU countries will not share, but rather hoard stocks they may have
Anagrams of the German Chancellor are foal and loaf. He is neither. A near anagram is ofal of which he is.
To avoid the greatest risk of freezing to death since the winter of 1946/7, one wonders whether frightened Germans will go after Zelinsky, Olaf Schloz or Biden’s removal. To fail to achieve any of these results, might be a pretty miserable and ugly way to die.
Directly attacking Putin probably means zero gas…
….Biden’s removal.
^^^^ !THIS! ^^^^
Why “or”?
Zelinski, Olaf Schloz AND Biden.
If Germans don’t go after those who will oversee their country’s destruction., their invited “culture enrichers” will.
Thinking of a hat trick.
And the powers that be here want us to be Germany and worse.
America would never do something this stupid to itself like Germany has! (sarcasm)
No we just cut off our own gas and petroleum supplies and sell of our reserves to other countries (China) to keep them warm and industries running! Brandon is a genius!
And push through the Build Back Worse plan and raise taxes during a recession- brilliant!
.
Obviously, they want us dead. The vaxx didn’t do it fast enough.
.
Given some more time, even mass starvation will not be quick enough for them. Count on it.
They want America dead.
Specifically, they want to”Break it so badly, that ALL of Trumps horses, and all of Trumps men,…”
Its another “Insurance policy” for “in the unlikely event that Trump should win, in 2024.”
And its literally “break it so badly, even HE can’t fix it in four years.”
Cause being term limited, he will only have 4 more years.
Some months ago a similar shutdown of fertilizer plants in the Netherlands and UK due to high gas prices.
The evil WEF crowd is exploiting critical links in the supply chains.
Olaf the oaf is just encouraging what the WEF wanted.
None of this needed to happen, it’s all by design.
Next stop a brutal world war and mass starvation. The ultimate goal is population control and domination by the new world order freaks.
In Hamburg, there will be no hot water in any public buildings or public conveniences. All outdoor lighting at night on buildings will be turned off. Other burgs are looking to follow, following the EU order for all member states to cut their energy usage by 15%…for the moment. I figure that’s just the starting point. Further there will be no portable fans or heaters or air conditioners April through September. All public building will have their temperatures set no higher or lower than 20C (68F).
As the situation gets more dire…and it will because I believe Putin is tired of Western European poseurs’ arrogance and threats…more restrictions will happen.
Add in Netherlands’ style farmer uprisings (which uprisings are escalating and show no signs of abating), Germany’s “elites” are fast losing their moral authority and their supposed iron grip on reality to boot.
Soon, our lickspittle MSM will not be able to avert their gaze. Things are changing very very quickly.
And winter is definitely coming.
They are literally returning to the Dark Ages.
The day Merkel threw open Germany’s borders and invited millions of culture enrichers in for German residency, then started treating German born citizensas if they were the interlopers, and bowed to Islam, Germany returned to the Dark Ages.
Germany is just doubling down on an entirely self inflicted backward direction. The suicidal move they made by placing an embargo Russian fuel has finally put the top hat on their stupid and destructive policies ever since the EU was a done deal.
This will only stop when some people responsible for the Machiaviellian plans die. It’s a lesson of history.
Human nature: once they themselves fear having to pay the consequences, it will stop.
I fear, however, that won’t happen.
We’ll see…
Yes, and a two-front war would also be a most excellent idea, Mein Führer!
Attorney Tom Renz and Mel K have a very interesting discussion about this very thing….

Isn’t there ever any good news?
Not lately.
I have to admit, it’s quite dire. Everyday when I speak with my best friend, I’m shocked that I usually have even worse news than the day before- spanning everything from the economy, risk of war, prices, lack of natural resources, product shortages, further increases in prices and even more bad news about the vaccines…
Nancy Pelosi is getting her chain yanked over her stock trades.
We are gaining ground bit by bit.
They are deflating on both Hunter/Biden and Pelosi/hubby, at the same time.
We are still above ground.
My peppers that were beaten after a rain survived and I have 5 peppers going. It’s not much but it’s something!
I’ve read that half of the nitrogen atoms in the average human body originated in synthetic fertilizer. That’s a big deal.
This is a good, 5-minute video on the Haber process, which was developed in the early twentieth century. It is the major part in production of human-made nitrogen fertilizer.
Without this industrial process, the earth could sustain several billion fewer people than it has now, and food prices would be astronomically higher than they are today.
First two minutes and last minute give a good summary of the great importance of chemical fertilizer (and this chemical process) in feeding us — good statistics. The two minutes in the middle are a short chemistry lesson, which you might or might not care for.
Thank you for that!

I think cold and hunger will generate that number, if not more. Tolkien coined the neologism Eucatastrophe, describing a great evil or misfortune being avoided by a surprise event of great magnitude; I wonder if the neo-con’s and neo-feudalist’s miscalculation over their Ukrainian ‘adventure’ is just such an event?
Speaking of chemicals, it seems the GOP blocked a $400 billion dollar bill to provide care and disability for our Veterans that stirred the burn pits, and there are a lot of them. Honestly, I doubt much of the money would actually make it to the Vets that need and deserve it, but there is a principle, especially since the gummint hacks have zero problem sending billions to UKraine.
Managing the burn pits was a dreaded activity and nearly everyone inhaled the crap, no pun intended. Our men and women deserve and have earned our support and dollars, this makes me angry as all get out.

In the meanwhile, the Pentagon has approved the wounded Ukrainians will receive medical treatment in Ramstein.
Good flipping grief. I have not heard that one. It never ends.
I remember working at what later became Superfund sites with no PPE and looking around while a quake hit our field while sitting there cutting boiler gaskets out of asbestos. That was in the early 80’s.
Industry is dangerous. Military is dangerous. I wasn’t drafted and chose industry over military. I can empathize with vets. As a self employed person for many decades, I never had health insurance at all. I’m amazed I’m still alive, much less healthy.
I watched some of the vets cussing pretty good today on a live stream from D.C., content the news outlets won’t carry. Penguin Six had some good coverage.
Myself, I wouldn’t want to piss off the millions of vets too much. Some of my customers who spent time in ‘Nam, well they’ve always been a bit twitchy. Mix twitchy with combat experience and add in some hate and things can go sideways fast.
How long does cold anger have to stay cold?
Only until AFTER you have exacted revenge.
Until it solidifies into ice, so cold thatvlike dry ice, direct contact burns the skin.
Is everyone already convinced that all these food shortages, fuel shortages, fertilizer shortages, rising prices, higher unemployment, food manufacturing and distribution center closures, farming restrictions emanate from a CENTRAL PLANNING body that is instructing the worlds’ leaders and industry titans what to do?
Given the full contours of the global situation throughout the Covid operation, it does appear to be coordinated and purposeful. Too many coincidences to be coincidence.
I’d greatly underestimated the fascism of industry though. I failed to realize how much in bed government and industry now are.
Yeah, it was the biggest awakening of the populace that PDJT managed.
I never imagined the corruption in all aspects of local, state and federal government, along with many private industries. Not just here but worldwide. Hence, the term Globalists.
Who thought relying on other countries so much was a good idea??
It’s all in their minds. They’ve all taken the blue pill.
So the average male & female couples are catalogued in the breeders contingent by the Sneering, Scheming, Effete Elite.
Doesn’t that nudge the SSEE into the Oxygen, Produce, & Energy Resource Depletion delagation?
Let ’em eat Carbon Credits.
Bio solids seems like a good alternative for fertilizer.
But, the EPA has already been weaponized politically.
Using bio solids would give libtard globalists the power to close those “extremist” farms for many years to come.

Milorganite.
Milorganite; only thing we’ve seen that actually repels deer from beans and peas. Drop a coffee cup full every 6 steps or so around perimeter of beans. Renew after rain. They smell a predator and wont cross the line. It works.
Years ago Chicago sewage was treated, dried, bagged and sold to local populace. Unfortunately, many local gardeners poisoned their ground with the heavy metals and other things in these free fertilizer bags from the sewage treatment plants.
By the way, thanks for the suggestions yesterday. for a bumper sticker.
I decided on Global climate change is a hoax.
(That is what all these restrictions are supposed to be about, isn’t it?}

They have no conscience, no concern for farmers, citizens needing nutritious fresh food at decent prices.
Leftists in power always create misery, deprivation, death.
I have been curious about a ground report, from Germany, and considered calling my ex-German wife, in Munich… but I honestly think she may ask to come and stay for a few years.
Yeah, not THAT curious.
LOL
Here is a ground report from Austria, published three days ago.
Sundance I know the geopolitical cleaving you talk about is a work in progress but do you think the 2 ‘sides’ are still working together in some aspects ? Such as Russia creating an excuse for the west to reduce and change food supplies.
For my part, no.
OMG. We are in trouble.
Genius. …destroy your country, instigate food insecurity, famine…just to keep Russia from getting corrupt Ukraine…brilliant
Never let a good crisis go to waste. They just needed an excuse and voila.
Here is my contribution to the cow farts issue down below, (that issue has been around at least since the mid 1970’s), although I cannot speak for knowing much about agriculture, I can be fairly confident that my brothers and sisters in Iowa do know, a lot. Probably as much as Texans.

Trump warned the arrogant Krauts about their reliance on Russian natural gas. They laughed at him. Let them freeze this winter and starve next spring. Serves them right.
Damn straight!
Reagan warned them back in 1981.

One of several great stories of negotiations, lol.
“We would LOVE to put 28,000 troops on the border!”
“But excellency Mr President, WHY arevyou showing me pictures of my VILLAGE?!!”
LOL, pretty sure no President has shared such stories before.
Hugo Boss needs to make more winter clothes.
Everything is going exactly as planned.
Stop feeding the middle east and africa. They are money pits.
Rome is burning, and not content to merely fiddle, they are pouring cauldrens of oil, on the fire.
How can they NOT anticipate that the crowds with pitchforks will soon be burning their houses, swimming in their pools, and lieing on their beds?
They’ll be long gone. Always are.
They do anticipate Dutch. Even the normies will be angry….unless they make them angry at us. The right will be the scapegoats. And they will use or do anything to achieve that from False Flag Ops to the media. This is worst case scenario. I can say with absolute confidence that whatever is going to happen here is going to happen at this point. I have no clue as to when exactly or how bad it will look. Have heard we will just have to pay more for food while the 3rd world starves. This is a very risky assessment IMO. Lower food yields will lead to the seizure of farmland, production, and the product itself. This may be the goal. They can buy off the masses with food while castigating and blaming the right. Their goal will be to retain enough loyal sheep to keep the committed right from dealing too much damage. Will it work? IDK that either but once it becomes crystal clear this is indeed the case the time is nigh.
Intentional national & international suicide isn’t just a river in Egypt.
A Death Cult, if you can keep it … it’s almost as if Marx & his offspring were satanic nihilists or something.
I didn’t want to sound so negative but I was going to suggest that the next thing you know, they will be using dead bodies from the vaccidents as fertilizer, but then I read it’s already happening…
Then the spike proteins and nanoparticles possibly get incorporated into the plant as it grows? Wonder what crops they export out of Washington? Wheat, cherries, ???

Is it the leftovers from their cannibal parties?
This will not DIRECTLY effect US ammonia-based fertilizer. Ours is almost entirely made here in the US. With less of a global supply (thanks, Klaus Vader Schwab) the price will continue to go up though.
It’s almost like they mean to do it…hmmm /s
Was listening to Tom Sullivan (conservative radio) this afternoon. A caller (farmer I think) rang in. He was telling the host about how many farmers have decided to lease their lands to solar farms as opposed to try and turn a profit growing food as the price of energy made it cost prohibitive. He referenced an article about this out of Barron’s I think. The guy knew what he was talking about and confirmed something that I suspected in that whatever this food crisis brings there will be no easy short term fix. When its broke; its broke with no remedy in sight. Collins agreed with him on the most of what the farmer said as he’s been concerned about this too. The host said he has researched this and told the farmer he didn’t think, based on the experts, that we would see any major shortages here. Instead the price of food might become unaffordable for some people though. The farmer said that was the most likely scenario but 3rd world countries are going to starve and Collins agreed very likely.
I am not fond of that type of thinking. There’s too much anecdotal evidence out there to ignore the looming shortage that approaches. Way too many stories just like this article to take for granted at this juncture. Let’s say Collins’ assessment is correct, and food gets very expensive but its still plentiful. This scenario alone is cause for concern and the media will pit Americans against each other (haves and have nots). Tempers will effervesce and violence will become common place. This will be used to crack down hard on so called Trump supporters as they will be blamed by the DS/media for food shortages, fuel shortages, etc. I can easily see false flag assassinations as another excuse to set the military and FBI to task. This may be the reason to arrest DT. If they do look for them to take down Biden and Hunter to show how fair and just the system is. The goal is to keep normies hating the right and cheering on their destruction. At some point the capitalism within our food production system will be declared unfair and favor the rich. This will be the excuse given as they seize the products of the farms. They will pay the farmers a generous sum but only the really big boys, with a carve out that they can only sell to the Fed or Blue St Govt’s. It is they that will be the arbiters of who gets to eat.
I know it sounds like fear porn or that wild imagination of mine. I fully admit that most of the time its desperately hard to believe that could happen here. But history is full of events like this and it seems to be where we are heading. It seems deliberate at this point as well and all I can do is look at what this may lead to longer term. I read this earlier too and it certainly sparked my creative thinking. I can say with utmost certainty there will be NO divorce. The left cannot be too close to anyone without coveting what another group has. They would never be successful at starting their own nation or country they can only usurp and ultimately destroy them. Another lesson from the past.

Sullivan NOT Collins
All this cutting production has me wondering if they know something we don’t.
Less fertilizer means less food, they are cutting production on oil and gas, they are burning food plants, factories are cutting making products.
With a massive reduction in population they won’t need near the food, fuel or most any product. It’s the only thing that makes sense at this point.
Nothing and I mean nothing else adds up.
Based on history one might think that food is going to play a big part in that reduction. If this is the case TPTB will need a scapegoat or the pitchforks will come for them. The plan is to make us fight each other with govt and institutional forces aligned with the left.
Here comes population reduction kids. They’re going to starve the third world to death.
My fertilizer costs are up 50% from Trump.
Wheeze don’t needs no farms, cause wheeze gots grocery stores…
