Despite the request from prospective purchaser Elon Musk to verify the number of fraudulent accounts supported within the Twitter social media platform, company executives told employees the purchase is going forward regardless of Musk requested verification.
(Bloomberg) – Twitter Inc. executives told employees on Thursday that the $44 billion deal to sell the company to billionaire Elon Musk is moving forward as planned, and that it won’t renegotiate the agreed-upon price of $54.20 per share.
Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top lawyer and head of policy, also told workers at an all-hands meeting that there is “no such thing as a deal being on hold,” according to people who attended the meeting. She was pushing back on claims from Musk over the past week that he is pausing the deal while he learns more about the number of bots and spam accounts on the social-media service. (read more)
Immediately after the executive meeting with employees, and perhaps in a proactive effort to control any content changes to the platform, the executives then announced a new internal “crisis misinformation” team {LINK}. Essentially new rules that will give Twitter censors new tools and justifications to block and control content.
[TWITTER] – […] During moments of crisis, establishing whether something is true or false can be exceptionally challenging. To determine whether claims are misleading, we require verification from multiple credible, publicly available sources, including evidence from conflict monitoring groups, humanitarian organizations, open-source investigators, journalists, and more.
Conversation moves quickly during periods of crisis, and content from accounts with wide reach are most likely to rack up views and engagement. To reduce potential harm, as soon as we have evidence that a claim may be misleading, we won’t amplify or recommend content that is covered by this policy across Twitter – including in the Home timeline, Search, and Explore. In addition, we will prioritize adding warning notices to highly visible Tweets and Tweets from high profile accounts, such as state-affiliated media accounts, verified, official government accounts.
[…] People on Twitter will be required to click through the warning notice to view the Tweet, and the content won’t be amplified or recommended across the service. In addition, Likes, Retweets, and Shares will be disabled.
[…] Content moderation is more than just leaving up or taking down content, and we’ve expanded the range of actions we may take to ensure they’re proportionate to the severity of the potential harm. We’ve found that not amplifying or recommending certain content, adding context through labels, and in severe cases, disabling engagement with the Tweets, are effective ways to mitigate harm. This new approach toward information control at Twitter comes a day after the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) said they were pausing the “DHS Disinformation Governance Bureau,” and appears to be a private sector effort by the social media platform to maintain the same purpose.
Put together the two actions by the company appear to be: (1) force Elon Musk into a position of purchasing the company at the previously agreed price regardless of the fraud that may be represented in the company financials; and (2) in case Musk goes ahead anyway, put systems in place to block any attempt to restructure the platform.
While this is only one company amid several; this is a battle inside the social media sphere that highlights just how extreme the control mechanisms are, and the entrenched position of Big Tech to avoid any challenge to their stranglehold on information content.
The ideological war continues. We have two generals putting their wealth into the game and leading the fight, Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Trump and Musk will hopefully prevail. You forgot Andrew Torba who is a free speech warrior and has GAB. GAB is not reliant on anyone and Torba doesn’t need to answer to a board of shareholders or anyone.
Gab is not looking to help Trump or Musk from what I gather, from some of Torba’s post regarding both of them.
I think that is true of Trump but Torba did reach out to Musk about working with him on GAB. I would think he was sincere.
I like Andrew Torba. When he says he supports and defends Free Speech, he means Exactly that. I see many things on GAB that I would never dream of supporting or defending as a Physical action. But words are words, even Threats so long as they are not personal. This is my opinion not that of Mr. Torba. But I also can say whatever I want to say in response to things I dislike or disagree with, OR I can scroll on past like a good American and let people enjoy Freedom of Expression. I won’t tolerate porn, especially child, not direct threats of violence. If someone says for instance, I would kill every such and such in the ABNZA movement!!, I would ignore it, like a Sane person does, if someone said, I will Dox you and come kill all your house. Then I would be up in arms and taking action against them. Sadly most people will not put that much effort in to Social Media or just plain real life these days. Much easier to whine and complain about what they don’t want to see Q.Q
Yes GAB is one of my favorite sites.
Twitter has been fun since the Musk purchase announcement, but it looks like that ride might be ending soon . I hope Elon makes them drop the price to under 15 Billion and that once he owns it he fires 100% and hires fresh top to bottom and side to side. Just like We the People need to do with the Installed Occupant and Jobamas whole administration.
Not that familiar with GAB but the platform is tiny to the point of insignificance. That’s the problem. The advocates for freer speech are small, week and powerless compared to our enemies, who are massively influential, incredibly rich and powerful and have well entrenched monopoly positions protected by both political parties.
Why are the good guys always a decade too late and billions of dollars short in these fights?
Reality is, the general public wants freeish speech. They aren’t use to actual open real conversation about controversial things so the public thinks some topics should be totally off limits or heavily moderated because it could make people upset.
Also, advertisers determine a lot of what can be discussed on social media. Youtube is a prime example. Creators get demonetized for even a slight mention of certain topics such as alternative medicine. That makes Big Pharma mad so can’t allow it.
Essentially new rules that will give Twitter censors new tools and justifications to block and control content.
Liars and cheats are rarely advocates of public access to more and better information.
Same with people who know they have no arguments, only power. For now.
I think their star is setting.
Elon Musk is a clever trail blazer in business and science etc. but he seems to be naïve about U.S. politics. His tweets today indicate he might be feeling the pressure and trying to take a comfortable middle road which is impossible in the tumultuous world of internecine politics today.
Musk tweet today—
“A party more moderate on all issues than either Reps or Dems would be ideal”
Is he unaware that a corrupt Uniparty controls gov’t along with “4” corrupt branches of gov’t and most of the media including stinking rotten Twitter. They wield considerable power and being the richest man in the world is not a serious match to this immense power. He’s trying to make the world a better place but he unwisely believes politicians make the major decisions when most of them are just craven or greedy puppets to specific special interests and not devoted to their own voters.
The Ukraine vote in the Senate proves how their priorities are self enrichment legislation or foreign money laundering expenditures rather than solving or at least fighting against all the serious challenges in America.
I think Musk will regret his purchase or his attempt to purchase a deeply corrupted social medium. He should have partnered with P Trump and built the best free speech social media outlet possible but of course he is in search of a “moderate” leader partner in the midst of a vicious political war at home.
The back shooting Twitter Board in his latest tweet is nowhere close to the level of intense hate and immense power that is mobilizing against him now.
He’s doing it because it moves the needle, for all of our benefits. The best thing anyone’s done for us all year. Instead of impugning his naivete, we should be thanking him.
I agree.
However, I did acknowledge that “He’s trying to make the world a better place” which is a big compliment IMO, but I was trying to warn him in a sense about the immense forces mobilizing against him.
He is clever and courageous but he might not fully realize who his many enemies are and it could end badly for him. I hope he succeeds but he will need support at high levels in gov’t but he doesn’t have it.
Do you think the foolish Senators that voted for the $40 billion and don’t care about their own voters will stick their necks out and defend or help Musk when he is under full attack by the powerful and corrupt? I don’t think so.
Gary’s 6:48 post below is one example of what I was trying to say.
“Sounds like Musk is going to need to file a complaint with the non to friendly, to Musk, SEC…I wouldn’t expect too much cooperation from them, considering they’re deep state.”
I suspect Elon has no friends at all in gov’t and very few GOP Reps or Senators that will defend him.
The left has to double down everytime it goes bad for them. The only other option, is jail. They are painfully aware of this.
“put systems in place to block any attempt to restructure the platform.”
As if Musk couldnt reverse it all on day one if he takeas over…
Sounds like Musk is going to need to file a complaint with the non to friendly, to Musk, SEC…I wouldn’t expect too much cooperation from them, considering they’re deep state.
The fact that Elon has no friends in gov’t and few “elected” GOP supporters in Congress that would vigorously defend him is also concerning to me.
They’re obviously busy hanging themselves right now! 🤡
all the workers we read about at twitter have names indicating they were born on the Ghanges. Why do no Americans work there?
Look to the ownership.
H1B program to steal jobs from the qualified and give them to imbeciles. Just look at the new WH press secretary for a Prime example.
Exactly. And this is how you turn American corporations into a wing of the communist party. Fill it with immigrants that come from such systems. Or systems that have a clear higher archly model.
These demons have been at this for a while. We have a lot of catching up to do.
Vijaya Gadde….Isn’t she the $15 million a year shyster?
Ukraine is losing the war badly. Twitter does not want you to KNOW that. Why?
Because of the Southeast Asian War games of the 60’s & early 70’s…….AND because of government largesse.

Me thinks Elon Musk can only be nice for so long.
If the company’s executive management has been lying about things like subscribers and the number of users who have a bloodstream, then in a publicly traded company that’s called “fraud on the market.” And that can get you shut down real quick … in a variety of ways.
Musk (and businessman Trump) haven’t made any explicit accusations yet, but the handwriting is on the wall for this company, and no doubt soon also for Facebook and many others. It was good while it lasted … “We shall see.”
“Tesla CEO Elon Musk told CNBC on Thursday that he has no plans to donate to super PACs in support of Republican candidates during the upcoming midterm elections or the presidential race in two years.”
I can’t look. I had to stop following Scott Adams because I couldn’t take more of his Trump hate.
Musk will face the same internal obstruction and outright lying that Trump faced from the deep state is what they hope for I suppose. And yes, he can back out if they do not provide verifiable evidence of their claims. Proprietary methodology does not cut it. It can remain proprietary as long as the potential owner is satisfied with it and it has been shared with the potential owner of the company as it must be. Else, why buy it? This could be a sign that the state no longer feels threatened believing Musk will indeed back out and things will continue as they are with Twitter and everyone will pretend it never happened. Announcement of the official state censor can wait a bit longer. Interesting times. Elon is trying to force transparency but, it might not happen cause big bro does not want it to happen trying to cover all the bases due to the extraordinary and unseen offer for the company
Twitter Toast anyone? Want jelly, jam or marmalade on top? HAHA!!

Twitter Employees the Day After Elon Takes Over!
Dude nails it and it hysterical
What many people don’t understand about the practical genius of Mr. Musk is that he doesn’t see very well or hear very well unless he wants to. However if something catches his attention that’s when you see the eye of Sauron.
The Muscavator was well aware of the operational iniquity of Twitter long before the onslaught of censorship probably going back to its inception. It wasn’t until the reality of the stolen election set in that he turn his gaze to the potential disaster facing the world and his aspirations shifted.
The whole Twitter deal is a setup it probably took him about maybe 20 or 30 minutes to figure out how to play them.
Basically give them enough rope and they’ll hang themselves, kind of like Enron or a Madoff deal. It’s the same story, as old as time it’s biblical, pride, ego, greed and power. Fallen nature Fallen man. These are things that don’t interest Musk yet, he actually has a profound sense of right and wrong. If you were standing next to him and you watched him and thought he was thinking about something you’d be close but actually what he’s doing is he’s realizing things not solving problems but understanding why and why not from who knows where or how. Like when a four year old plays Mozart.
So he uses his juice he throws out the bet lays down a billion dollars and then says hey wait a second you guys told me that this was all on the up and up but it’s not you know your shareholders and all your clients are getting screwed now he’s going to stand back and watch the whole thing Fall apart . excellent
That didn’t take long. Here come the smears…

A SpaceX flight attendant said Elon Musk exposed himself and propositioned her for sex, documents show. The company paid $250,000 for her silence.

If was real it would have been worth a helluva lot more than $250k……some cheap ass, slimeball lawyer made a quick buck and quarter for himself & is probably hammering the accuser.

The Intelligence Branch is flailing out here. If Musk buys Twitter there will not be censorship. If Twitter does not disclose their use of of bots there is potential fraud , which would change any deal. I dont see how they think they can fake this one out.
Musk is in the driver’s seat. It is his company to buy and their obligation to disclose.
Easy, they have faith in the crooked DOJ/DOD that Is clearly backing them.
What i wonder is, if Twitter is fraudulently using bots to boost advertising and push the lefty narrative, why did they agree to sell to begin with? Surely they knew Musk would look into those things. Why would they put themselves in that situation to begin with?
Perhaps they saw a way to get lots of money and they don’t feel they NEED to put up pretenses much longer?
It seems we are missing something. The commies in charge are long term thinkers. There is something else we aren’t considering.
Because Twitter is a publicly traded company, it is owned by the shareholders, not by the board of directors. Board of directors has a legal fiduciary duty to do what is in the best financial interests of all of their shareholders. Musk made an offer that was so high-priced that the board of directors was legally obligated to accept it on behalf of the shareholders. It was an offer they literally could not refuse.
Twitter is a government entity extension.

That amount of money for a settlement of this sort is absolutely de minimis, and everyone who understands corporate law knows this.
In other words, when you sue one of the most valuable people on earth and get a settlement of $250,000, that’s nearly always just the guy getting rid of something he considers a nuisance, not an admission of guilt.

What these clowns fail to realize is that Tesla has a Net Promoter Score of 97, essentially untouchable. Musk is Tesla and therefore Space X.
https://customergauge.com/benchmarks/blog/tesla-nps-score
if true, Musk should sue her for her lack of ‘silence ’.
Except there could be someone paying her double for running the smear. You think?
This monstrosity has been created by the Obama administration. In 2009-2013, the federal government assented to Twitter’s Terms of Services, including Twitter’s content policies & rules. It consented that Twitter can unilaterally modify the “agreement” with the federal government at any time. It did not demand that Twitter respects the First Amendment & Fourth Amendment rights of its users.
It also opened thousands accounts on Twitter, turning its agencies into propaganda outlets.
https://defyccc.com/obama-administration-has-sold-the-united-states-to-big-tech/
The Obama administration coopted tech industries, then set Big Tech as another branch of government, which became stronger than the legitimate ones.
Unlike Trump, I’m sure Elon Musk will fire any and all employees who are insubordinate in following the policies he orders to be implemented.
Well sure, it’s a private company at that point. PDJT was dealing with a bureaucracy. Much more difficult to fire people. One of the many things that needs fixing.
DeSantis could make a splash in this arena too. Unfortunately, he is too busy patting himself on the back.
Ah! Here’s the MAGA guy again! Apparently, now it’s DeSantis that is not sufficiently MAGA for his taste.
And by the way, DeSantis is well deserving of all his laurels. In my estimation, he’s already a legend in his own time.
Aaaaaand……her comes the start of the MSM hits on Elon Musk.
I think we can expect a LOT more of ’em in the coming weeks.

So many NDAs get broken. I know some have huge penalties. Perhaps the agreements should state you pay back the settlement, plus any proceeds/payments you receive cash or in-kind for selling the story later, plus a $1 million fine on top of that.

Excerpt:
The agreement also reportedly “included restrictive non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses that bar the attendant from ever discussing the severance payment or disclosing any information of any kind about Musk and his businesses, including SpaceX and Tesla.”

Premptive strike on loser employees shows thier weakness in War. So fun to watch!
Conversation moves quickly during periods of crisis
And the crisis is NOW
Basically, anything that gets a warning from Twitter trying to block access means it’s actually the truth. Twitter’s corporate mission for a long time has been to amplify Communist propaganda and keep the Democrat Crime Syndicate in power. We can now assume that any information they try to block is a direct threat to their mission and whatever they freely let through perpetuates their lies & disinformation. It’s as simple as that. Ironically it gives more attention to the very things they don’t want you to notice. But who wants to waste time on Twitter anyway?
The biggest problem is we have very few journalists left in the country who want to do any work. Many of them just cite tweets as their news sources now. They think that summarizing what they read on Twitter is journalism. Pathetic.
I’m a software engineer. At one company they discovered that a guy failed to do backups at night, just pretended to by circulsting the mag tapes, bringing in his girlfriend instead.
At that time, in CA, you had to have two reasons to fire somebody. They had two reasons, failing to do backups, and bringing in unauthorized persons, and fraud in his logs.
If Elon fires people, there will be lawsuits. But Musk may well have a workaround. If he wants fair moderation, the moderators should be hired from small towns in Texas.
