To get a better context for the catastrophic and dangerous war zone that is Ukraine, yesterday European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell Fontelles visited President Zelenskyy in Kyiv {link}. Johnson and Austria’s Chancellor Karl Nehammer made separate visits to Zelensky on Saturday, the latest in a string of leaders to travel to the country during the ongoing Russian invasion.
Johnson posted on Twitter that his visit to Kyiv was “a show of our unwavering support for the people of Ukraine” and announced a new package of financial and military aid.
“Ukraine has defied the odds and pushed back Russian forces from the gates of Kyiv, achieving the greatest feat of arms of the 21st century,” the UK PM said in a statement.

Russia is not doing much to stop the flow of heavy weapons from Poland. They’ve been reluctant to blow up rail lines.

Yes the Russian troops by all accounts have been very disciplined. I have seen other similar video’s of Ukrainian POW’s getting good treatment. Meanwhile Ukraine forces are executing and torturing Russian troops (doing unspeakable things) and the west is silent. It just sickens me to see what is happening. Johnson is insane giving Ukraine anti-ship missile systems. Obviously the UK cannot just ship the hardware to Ukraine – these are complex systems which means that UK military advisers will have to go along with the systems to show the Ukrainians how to operate them. This is not like shipping them Soviet era arms that Ukraine knows how to operate.
What Putin needs to do is warn the UK that if any of their ships are struck by one of these UK anti-ship missiles they will consider that a direct attack on Russia by the UK and will respond accordingly. The concern for Russia was independence, sovereignty and NATO bordering concerns.
That geographical concern has been met with the invasion of Ukraine.
The larger, bigger war if you will, has been Russias desire to get off of the US dollar. Putin knows Russia cannot move forward and be reliant on western financial system. And this war is on big time with Russia now putting its currency on a gold standard.
For those who follow these concerns, note Qaddafi desiring away from petrodollar, the West will not stop until Russia relents and changes its tune. If Russia succeeds in trade in other than US dollars, other countries will follow as US currency becomes devalued.
The West will supply Ukraine with all it needs to defend itself and further world anger/sanctions against Russia.
The West believes it wins by prolonging the war and gins up its propaganda against Russia. The question is, how did Putin plan for this? Does Putin believe US decline will happen faster than Russias?

I quickly concluded in the first days of the war Russia won. This was based solely US statements and response. This is because Russia now controls every facet of the US government.
