There are often questions raised about whether the crises created by the Biden White House policy are incompetence or intentional. For the group that believes ‘incompetence‘ is behind the chaos, well, they gained a significant data point today.
During a White House press briefing a reporter asks, “My question is about how the White House plans to prepare for food shortages, particularly as it comes to wheat …. should U.S. farmers grow more wheat this year instead of corn and soybeans given the possible food shortages?”
The Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, Cecilia Rouse, answered” …”farmers respond to price signals. So, with the price of food rising, they will be responding by making additional plantings and trying to take advantage of the increased price signal. So, the market will work as the market will work.” Please WATCH 16:32 Prompted
The reporter and the Chair of the CEA seemingly have no idea how long it takes to farm or grow a crop. As if switching from corn to wheat was just a Monday decision. Good grief, June/July harvests for winter wheat this year were planted in October of last year.
Changing a crop in the spring for harvest in the summer is not akin to changing your regular order of beverages at Starbucks.
Get out of the cities.
No, please don’t.
I agree Conspiracy R.
“Get out of the cities” is the latest phrase chanted by so many.
I know that those caught up in the nasty, violent blue cities are frightened want to run but this is something that is easier said than done.
We live in a small, very rural area here.
Usually we have about 40 residential properties listed for sale, right now there are four.
The rush to move here from else where has caused an amazing run on our home listing and prices and there is just nothing for sale.
People are desperate to move here, they are trying to buy anything and everything to live in.
I am not saying this is a bad thing, it does stress our rural electric company and our simple rural area is changing.
This is the way things go and not much to be done about it but like you say CR people might think about things a bit before they become “refugees” from the big cites that have become unlivable.
Absolutely; those same people are generally the same people who made the cities what they are. Can’t leave all that ‘stuff’ behind, want to bring it all with them instead of giving a different type of life a try with out all the ‘stuff’ .
Same folks who make blue states what they are then flee the disaster they helped create to red states to repeat the process.
Yep, socialists are economic locusts. They devour everything in sight, leaving everyone to starve, and then swarm away to another green oasis created by others, and repeat.
Not necessarily- my husband is a doc who is being pushed out of his clinic in the capital city of a dark blue state because he is not vaccinated and didn’t push the jab. We are desperate to get out but there is no where to go. We’d move to one of your rural little cities in a heartbeat. How sad that you guys don’t think there are some who truly need a place to go who line up with your beliefs. Look how polarized we all have become.
Also many who have moved that we know have also been fired from their ‘essential worker’ jobs for not complying.
Bedford VA.
What did they ever do about the Stalin memorial?
Try west Texas
Problem is time and time, and time again, those from the city and suburban areas that move ruin it wherever they go. IT NEVER FAILS, and unless you have lived it you don’t know, so don’t judge us. “one of your rural little cities”? I am sorry but that sounds patronizing to me, just saying. It is also a contradiction in terms, and an immediate tell.
As a sidebar, city conservatives are not like rural conservatives, just something I have observed as we get the influx of people from all over, as well as seeing it firsthand in working w/the GOP as new people come in.
I prefer being surrounded by cows and farmlands, not the perks of city living which invariably is what the slickers want. First comes the Food Lion, then the CVS, then the Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and Starbucks, then they aren’t happy w/those places, they want a Whole Foods, and HOA neighborhoods cuz us rural country people are dirty to them. And ya know, a golf course w/a country club would be nice. I could go on and on.
Another peeve is when people move here they expect everyone to be so excited and happy they chose our area as their place to live, like we are supposed to be honored that we have been graced w/their presence and money. I find it rather arrogant.
Sad part is I used to welcome the newcomers, it was how I was raised, but not anymore. Sorry to sound mean, but if people are going to move to a new area then they need to learn how to assimilate and not waltz in expecting everything to be catered to their wants or notoriety.
You arent the “same folks” are you?
You and your husband are not those of whom I refer.
The jerks from NY and NJ are screwing up crap here on Cape Cod now demanding sidewalks everywhere that never existed… YOOHOO they aren’t possible because the damm streets in places like Wellfleet village border the DAMM MARSH!!! This does not stop them from demanding costly construction everywhere!!! These aholes…. and it is happening across the Cape are demanding that our home is redesigned into a 44 mile version of the Villages in Florida!!! These “economic refugees” are nothing but locusts moving onto the next field. They suck!!! I sincerely want them to die en masse on a sand dune looking at a pipping plover.. out of cell phone range…. TRUTH
For fun, toss them into the tic infested marsh/brush areas!
from my cousins down south . Chiggers are interesting.
Be happy you don’t live in the same county as the actual Villages!
Y’all can take them back home any time now!
NOPE… I have plenty of Honda CRV’s and Subaru Foresters full of clueless old farts cutting me off daily without adding more to the mix.
You made me laugh so hard! Economic refugees is the perfect term, they are locusts and they do suck.
And Jerzee, NY refugees are the worst, always talking about “back in Jersey”, “back in NY”. More than once I have suggested since they miss it so much to return home.
I’m assuming you’re referring to Downstate/NYC people. The rest of NYS is mostly rural, filled with decent hard-working people.
It’s that horrible entitlement mentality.
I live in a neighborhood which has two section 8 houses. Both houses are rented to
blacks wanting to escape the inner city. They are primarily law abiding citizens.
However, when their relatives from the city come to visit all hell apparently breaks
loose because five police cars suddenly are parked down the street. Without fail,
especially in summer.
I have to disagree with you there – I’m in California and I saw SO MUCH Trump support in 2020 you would be amazed. Then, Newsom “defeats” his recall with the same exact percentage (61.9%) that he won in 2018. It’s fake, everything is fake. I’ve been wanting to flee this state for awhile because of crazy liberal government but have family here and that’s important. Will have to stay and try and fight for CA. Send money, drugs, lawyers, lol.
My long point is that the refugees are probably most likely not liberal.
OMG, same thing here in our little town which is now bursting at the seams. Prices are sky rocketing and way too many people with now idea how to do things in rural America. Ts scary.
Besides which, at some point you have to stand and fight. We’re there. There’s nowhere to go that won’t be under the fraudulent government. The cities are the front lines now; if we run, the front lines will chase us. If we stand, the front lines will retreat and surrender.
Yes, that’s exactly where I am right now. But don’t demonize people from Blue States. We’re just behind enemy lines and that totally sucks. But believe me, there is major resistance here. It’s heartbreaking to see all the homeless lying often literally on the sidewalks. And by the way, CA rehab business depends on shipping addicts in from other (often red) states, they do their program, get released, wait (on the streets) until they are eligible for another round of rehab. Check out the rehab business in Southern California. So we’re inundated with other state’s homeless addicts. Yesterday I found a Nebraska ID in the street where the homeless travels, by my formerly nice neighborhood. So the issue is more complicated than red/blue states. There are plenty of patriots in blue states.
It’s like saying the US is pro-Biden because he was “elected”. There really aren’t that many hard core liberals, even in blue states.
I didn’t at all mean to sound that way – I’m in Colorado myself (you may have heard we have a teeny weeny bit of election fraud issues?), and we too have homeless lying literally on the sidewalks! I have friends who talk about leaving and I keep telling them, it won’t work – if you won’t fight it here, the problems will come find you in Texas too.
Also, it looks to me like when the going gets tough, the tough get going; there seems to be much more pushback here than in states where people just don’t feel that threatened yet.
ColoradoChloe: I assume you live in Colorado, which has some smaller towns that I find to be very attractive for potential relocation. Colorado is a beautiful state. However, even Colorado’s smaller towns have many of the the same big city problems from which many urban dwellers wish to escape. This includes town governments controlled by leftists; overreliance on federal funding (due to issues specific to the interior west, e.g., BLM, National Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, USDA, DHS, etc), overt problems with homelessness, climate change activists, and the list goes on.
In other words, there’s no escape! I might as well hunker down in Los Angeles, defend my interests, and enjoy the great weather and physical beauty.
That’s right – Colorado is totally Commie. God speed Tina Peters!
Nevada too. If you’ve ever spent time in Nevada you know something doesn’t add up. Those people are awfully conservative for the government representing them
Nothing but out-of-staters moving into my area. SC is turning purple because of it. All these “get out of city” people are ruining the burbs and rural areas.
The Dumbasspora abides.
In the Lowcountry the influx of people is overwhelming. We are selling our home in the historic district to live a county away. My former small town now has gang violence and homeless camps. Needles on the ground in Azalea park. It’s sad to watch it slip away. I’m leaving for more acreage.
It’s their politics I dislike they usually bring with them to rural America. They dislike the cities and the rubbish that they encouraged by voting for these progressives.
Too many leave the city and go to the country, but try to bring the city with them instead of making the change to LIVE in the country. All the ‘things’ they don’t want to leave behind don’t belong in the country. Life is different in the country setting. Most can’t leave all that “stuff” behind.
Do not let them win any local elections! Don’t even let them get enough names on the petition to run!
Amen.
“Strong city initiative”
This program by the U.N. Implemented with the blessing of Osama is about cramming cities full of people and emptying open country and suburbs.
This program is about control of people in small places with heavy restrictions and hell yes leave the city as soon as possible.
Agenda 21 predates Obama by 2 decades, 1992 to be exact. Every president and Congress since has fully supported it’s efforts and agendas.
Let’s be factual about the reality we live in and also vigilant about the fact no one wants to change its influence.
From our last post, here is the proposed bill on Ecash so if this gets passed, say goodbye to the Federal Reserve and say hello to full totalitarianism.
someone asked me on the phone, “When do you think they’ll pass it?” “As soon as they concede to Russia’s demands”.
unbeknownst to all, zelensky already conceded to everything last night but you won’t here that yet. Just saying’.

I would rather you all stay in the cities. You would be bored senseless out here in God’s Country! Life is very difficult here looking up to the Continental Divide every morning. No Starbucks or McD’s…you would hate it!
Not to worry….give em enough time and numbers and they will convert Gods country to their heathen paradise.
And in sone rural areas, internet is slower and cell phone service unreliable. I would think that alone would drive the city folks out of rural America and back to the city.
You have to mow grass in the country. Rake leaves, carry garbage, know & visit with neighbors & clergy, maybe drink well water, put up with mosquitoes, loose dogs, raccoons & vultures. Besides, it gets REALLY dark out here and you frequently hear gun shots from your neighbors.
When we first out of the city to our rural ranch, neighbors out here met and talked about planting, coyotes and live stock. Now neighbors out here meet to talk about mutual aid, fields of fire and defensive parameters.
Well, I think they are used to gun shots.
We are, sad to say! It’s bloody true
And there are BEARS!
Sounds like the small town I grew up in! Heaven!
That’s because of wildlife trying to rob their stills /s
Don’t you dare!
Seven years ago I left the Los Angeles area for Southern Oregon as it was less populated, rural and somewhat reddish. But becoming less so as more leftists continue to move here determined to recreate the same policies they fled.
They never learn.
Cultural and political locusts who only know how to destroy.
If you’re a liberal, please stay in the cities…
You aren’t likely to get any liberals reading your words. It’s just more divisive talking. This country is going down if we keep this up
Over 90% of America is winter wheat planted last fall and with lower fertilizer prices.
The winter wheat was brought to Kansas from Ukraine by Mennonites. Mennonites didn’t hate the people the Russians wanted killed. Pacifists. Mennonites also had great crops in Russia but got ripped of on shipping costs.
If one underestimates a communist, you are doomed to hell on earth.
The slogan of the district of columbia is: communism FIRST!
The person who asked the question is just as dumb as the person answering the question.
Fur sur’ !!
Good Lord. Another uptalking child in charge of national policy-making. Even if all these people magically vanished overnight and were replaced with experienced adults, it is already too late for the remaining 8 months of 2022. We are well and truly screwed.
47, we are only screwed if you have been hearing the warnings for a couple of years now and did nothing about it to prepare.
Like me many I know have, and now I say, bring it on and lets get this over with.
“I got mine!”
God save us from the boomers.
Oh please. Stop playing the Democrat game of divide and denigrate.
When he said “Dark Winter” what did you think he was talking about?
I didn’t think he meant a dark spring and dark fall followed by another dark winter…… and another dark year forever.
Dunno, the first woman reminded me of an Alien, and the second woman just another person given a job because of her skin color because that is the only qualification that counts for the job.
God Bless our Farmers.
Just Follow the science. Mennonites brought red winter wheat from Ukraine to Kansas. We have had surplus to export.
“In 1944, Dr. Borlaug participated in the Rockefeller Foundation’s pioneering technical assistance program in Mexico, where he was a research scientist in charge of wheat improvement. “
Dr Borlaug is one incredible scientist. He boosted Mexican crops.
He helped India with better strains become exporter of wheat.
India has warehouses filled with wheat and growing export business.
A few science minds make up for all the Brandons and Putins.
Unless the Brandons, Putins, and their ilk corrupt the industry and the “science.” Dr. Borlaug did his brilliant work in an earlier, more honorable era, when more people were devoted to truth and excellence in their dealings.
In medicine we are being sold pills and shots. Instead of natural health, ( I do 600 miles a month on a mountain bike) Many of Big Pharma are also in Hybrid seed and ag chemicals. Selling Herbicides and insecticides which damage soil health.
Bayer now owns Monsanto and Round Up for instance.
Suppressing knowledge of things that are said to promote health and kill viruses, like Vitamin C.
If I recall my history correctly the mennonites were deliberately targeted for starvation by the communists during the Holodomor in Ukraine along with millions of other innocent Christians.
So many of our people left over 50 years before that.
But Borlaug’s encouragement of monoculture using a lot of fertilizer will, in the long run, be a disaster as the soil degrades..
Interesting comment. My sport is yacht racing. Our club has raised a couple of world champions. We had an algea bloom problem on our lake and brain stormed with farmers in the watershed to reduce run off and lower need for fertilizer. Algae bloom solutions involving a lot of our members who are aeronautical engineers. Nitrogen in runoff is wasted.
We are also making strides in soil conservation and caring for our soil. Changes in tillage practices.
Are you related to a sailor I knew some years ago by the name of Britt Chance?
Hmmm, while Dr. Norm B. is chided in the US and the West in general, especially by environmentalists, he is considered an absolute hero in Asia, Africa and S. America. He has saved not millions but hundreds of millions of peoples’ lives by preventing famine and starvation. If the agro-chemicals are managed properly, it is actually environmentally better, prevents topsoil loss (it takes 100-500 years to replenish just one inch of topsoil) by avoiding tilling, etc. etc. Thank you.
Allen Savory begs to differ. From deserts to green in just a few years. This is 22 minutes well worth your time to watch.
I quit at “fossil fuels are causing climate change.” 😝
https://thediplomad.blogspot.com/2022/03/the-time-has-arrived-impeachment.html
It is time to impeach and convict Joe Biden.
The nation and the West cannot take another two-three years of this criminally corrupt and inept disaster.
In my view, the history of impeachment of the US president is a bit tawdry. I don’t think that any of the four impeachment trials in our history (Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton, and the two against Donald Trump) met the standard the Founding Fathers had envisioned. The closest was, perhaps, the Clinton impeachment (argue away) as he was accused of perjury.
Congressional impeachment has become almost the equivalent of a parliamentary motion of “no confidence.” So be it. Without doubt, the RINO GOP will pull out a legion of Constitutional scholars and legal gurus to argue against using “impeachment” for Biden, to wit, we must not become like the Dems. To that, I politely, say, bunk. Go away. It’s too late for all that nonsense.
Every day it seems, despite the censorship and the fake de-bunking, we get more and more evidence of Biden’s criminality. He and his family, of course, have been long known as crooks and liars in the pockets of Delaware-based credit card companies.
The lies told by Joe are legion. His brother is a well-known and unsavory character as is his son, Hunter; and they have dealings with Joe, the “big guy” who gets ten percent.
We now suffer the worst presidency in our history; none other comes close.
Biden moved into the White House thanks not only to massive electoral fraud, but to an unprecedented support by big tech and media firms who carefully edited and suppressed information hurtful to Biden. In addition, Biden, and many of those around him, e.g., Jake Sullivan, helped created the fake Trump-Putin hoax, which not only almost brought down the Trump presidency, but made it impossible to have normal relations with Russia–and we are paying for that now as we face the possibility of a major war in Europe. The DNC, with the active participation of Joe Biden, FBI, CIA, and the media engaged in a massive criminal conspiracy against a sitting president.
Let us not forget that Trump’s great “crime” in the second impeachment was to ask too many questions about the Biden-Ukraine link. That, my friends, was the great driver of that most fake of fake impeachments. Trump was getting close to upsetting the whole cart of rotten apples. He was asking dangerous questions.
The Hunter Biden laptop, something which the Biden criminal circle had declared “Russian disinformation,” should provide serious investigators a treasure trove of information showing the Bidens’ criminal activities AND how Joe, himself, was in the pay of the governments of Ukraine and of China, as well as of Russian gangsters. If nothing else, there should be enough info there to provide investigators with leads to obvious tax fraud and illegal work on behalf of foreign governments.
Biden and gang have caused perhaps irreparable damage to our economy, society, and foreign policy. His refusal to halt the ongoing invasion across our southern border threatens the very existence of this country. That alone should prove cause for impeachment. What can I say about his bizarre comments in Poland calling for regime change in Moscow? You want war with Russia? Keep saying that sort of garbage.
Impeachment and conviction.
And keep the powder dry for Kamala.
“Biden moved into the White House thanks not only to massive electoral fraud, ….”
He would not be living where he is today if he had not been obama’s vice-president for two terms, so don’t forget to thank all the people who voted for obama.
Worst President in history…?
That’s a tough call when we’ve suffered two bushes, a clinton and the deeply evil barry soeroto….
Still is the worst. In spite of the other bad ones, and there have been a few. After all, we have all made mistakes through the years. Just too many refuse to admit their mistakes.
But Biden is far from finished with the worst his admin can do. He has three more years, should he live so long, to chisel that legacy in stone.
Not only could he be the absolute worst president of the United States, he might also be the last one.
Don’t forget incompetent commie Carter.
The man who destroyed the free market to save it with price controls and is responsible for getting us hooked at the waist with China, “I am not a crook” Dick Nixon.
LBJ who hoodwinked minorities into the Democrat plantation that is their base of power to this day.
FDR who admired the Nazi and Commie systems so much he he tried to implement them here.
Woodrow Wilson who gave progressives such a bad name they buried it in favor of the liberalism name tag for nearly a 100 years and who is roundly despised by almost everyone still to this day.
And that’s just off the top of my head, is in no way a comprehensive list.
One of the biggest miracles of the USA is that we stand at all with such a history of nightmarish leadership.
“The man who destroyed the free market to save it with price controls and is responsible for getting us hooked at the waist with China, ‘I am not a crook’ Dick Nixon.”
He narrowly beats Hoover and the two Bushes as the worst Republican in recent US history, although US Grant is arguably the most corrupt Republican to be elected President.
Impeaching biden would do nothing to improve the situation. If we can not excise the tick that is the fourth branch of our festering government, even another trump presidency is doomed to failure.
McConnell would never sanction Biden being impeached, and if McConnell says no, it doesn’t happen.
McConnell was the genesis of “the Insurance policy” to “Watergate” PDJT, the Mueller/Weismann witch hunt, the Ukraine impeachment, appointing Barr, dictating who PDJT could nominate to his cabinet.
McConnell did far more to stymie PDJT’s AmericaFirst agenda, than Pelosi or Schumer.
And he approved of the 2020 steal, otherwise it couldn’t have happened.
Look, objectively at “the Political leadership” in D.C.
WHO isn’t obviously mentally defective?
Brandon? Kawmala? Pelosi?
How about McConnell? He IS evil, and corrupt, but he is NOT senile, or a drug addict. And, everyone in D.C. knows he is the one you DO NOT cross.
HE is “the man behind the curtain”.
He eschews the limelight, and lets others be ‘out there’ while his machievellian manuevers are mostly behind closed doors.
Ditch Mitch or Mitch in a Ditch?
Whatever it takes?
yep
Let’s not forget who Mitch is married to!
From Wikipedia:
Elaine Chao controversy
Chao’s daughter, Elaine, was Secretary of the Department of Transportation in the Donald Trump administration. During that time, she frequently used her office to promote her family’s shipping business. For instance, she appeared in at least a dozen interviews with Chao, and she asked DOT staff to promote her father’s biography. The Transportation Department’s inspector general asked the Trump administration’s Justice Department in December 2020 to consider a criminal investigation into Chao, but the DOJ refused. On March 4, 2021, the DOT Inspector General revealed that Chao had directed her DOT staff to edit the Wikipedia article about her father.
Just don’t hold your breath until things change for the better. Some have been waiting for a long time, and still nothing has changed.
Keep in mind these are the “intelligent elites” that are out to rule the world because they are so much smarter that everyone else. Just like Bloomberg said during his short-lived campaign “ you don’t have to be smart to be a farmer, you dig a hole and put a seed in it and you grow your crop.” None of them have ever held a meaningful job, all lawyers, professors, teachers, activists, community activists and such. In other words jobs that suck the life out of everything around them!
In Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand described the collapse of the entrepreneurial class, by having the government, who knew better, of course, take over industry. The result, in the novel, as well as in the USSR and every other freakin communist country, was the same; TOTAL DISASTER.
But I thought AOC explained that we didn’t need farmers at all, we could just buy food at the grocery store!?
Eventually, we could solve one problem by ending biofuels.
But Sundance was saying in October there was going to be a food supply issue. Hopefully most farmers were preparing.
most didn’t as they are still crying about the lack of fertilizer….and seeds and such.
Some farmers here in NE Ohio are switching from planting corn and soybeans to putting in a wheat crop.
I am told that wheat requires less tillage and fertilizer, so poor dirt farmers save on diesel and fertilizer, too.
If this becomes a trend, there will be less silage than from a corn crop so beef prices may continue to rise faster than inflation.
The uptalking expert class is absolutely exhausting at this point. Smugness combined with ignorance is just so flipping over the top. “Ummm like, OK? ummm like farmers respond to price signals and and stuff? and like I ….” These people are our betters? What a fun decade we have in front of us!
Glad “again” it won’t affect me for long if it does as all…..I AM REALLY OLD….. Older than our current president, and don’t make the mistakes he does….but then I’m not planning on running again in 2024. I’ll be lucky to finish out this year the way things are going.
Hang in there! Who doesn’t want to find out the ending of the story?
You are a treasure old lady
Live long and prosper. Your longevity will allow you to smile grimly as you watch the Biden funeral procession played out on TV.
If I recall correctly, don’t soil conditions also dictate what can and cant be planted?
🤫
Not supposed to mention things like that or much how they want to pave over millions of acres of arable land with solar panels.
Well if we don’t plant crops, how are we going to make all those delicious plant burgers Bill Gates thinks we should all eat?
Can’t wait to see a soy T-bone.
Vat grown mystery goop?
Reminds me of Soylent Green.
Well The movie was dated to be in the year 2022.
Lol. So the timing was only a little off.
We’ll be eating crickets before his mRNA injected plant feed is available
Some scientists have advocated adding crickets, as well as other insects, to our diet as a much cheaper source of protein replacing meat.
I think that may be covered in some little publicized part of the Green New Deal.
Gates now owns most of the latest land that was sold the past few years…..so we can’t raise any meat to eat, just edible food of the plant variety.
Yup. What Gates doesnt own, the Chinese do.
One day we will be made happy and content on a diet of grass and insects.
Just heard he’s getting into making fake eggs, and mayo. Right in time as millions of chickens are culled for “bird flu” or some such BS.
Solar Panels and the enormous concrete with tons of rebar platform required to hold a windmill in place for only 10 years of useful life.
something along the lines of 400 yards of concrete ,required for a windmill base.
I’m gluten free. Lol
Cows, pigs, etc eat grains, so unless you are some sort of vegan……
Im trying to find a positive here
Now we know why the barricades are up in DC.
THEY KNOW that starving peasants will not be nice.
Be prepared for ration books soon…..like it was back in the last war. Same with gas and electricity etc.
Count on a black market developing overnight to supply those things.
Which of course, requires being able to trace every transaction made in order to squash it. Ready made excuse to outlaw physical cash and force a digital only currency.
Farfetched? Does not seem so, these days.
Ah, the soon to come Ration Passport!
Was electricity rationed as well?
starving peasants can and will tear it down when push comes to shove
This I believe by design.They know that as long as people have firearms and a independent attitude the global vipers will not be able to proceed with their great reset foolishness.But people have to eat and they know this.The marxist/atheist/satanic cabal know that the people are rising up across this earth and are not in the control that they would like.We know who is doing this,and its not Biden.The global elites are pulling the strings on all this,but will soon see their own demise.Psalm 68 1-3 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
may his foes flee before him.
2
May you blow them away like smoke—
as wax melts before the fire,
may the wicked perish before God.
3
But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful. Psalm 35 1-10 1
Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me.
2
Take up shield and armor;
arise and come to my aid.
3
Brandish spear and javelin[a]
against those who pursue me.
Say to me,
“I am your salvation.”
4
May those who seek my life
be disgraced and put to shame;
may those who plot my ruin
be turned back in dismay.
5
May they be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them away;
6
may their path be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.
7
Since they hid their net for me without cause
and without cause dug a pit for me,
8
may ruin overtake them by surprise—
may the net they hid entangle them,
may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
9
Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord
and delight in his salvation.
10
My whole being will exclaim,
“Who is like you, Lord?
You rescue the poor from those too strong for them,
the poor and needy from those who rob them.”
Thanks for another reminder. We need all of these reminders.
I would like to hear a lot more imprecatory prayers from the pulpit.
The banal, “Please bless our leaders” leads me to believe the pastorate is indifferent to the existence of the blatantly obvious iniquity practiced by our overlords.
The Early Church was unafraid of rebuking errant rulers but today’s episcopate praises Pedo Joe for being a good Catholic.
Let’s just tell those knotheads we are grow them a whole bunch more baked potatoes to make up for the shortage.
All the nonsense from the government aside, how does overseas demand for US crops play into the current economic impact on farming? Will China be outbidding the American supply chain on delivery of the upcoming US crops? I remember about 20 years ago when China was buying all the worlds’ steel production, to the point that steel shipments into the US were re-sold while in transit and the ships were diverted to China. China paid a higher “spot” price than the value of the original US purchase contracts, plus shipping costs plus any damages assigned by the original contract for non-delivery to the US. When this happens to US crops, expect the WH will tell us that it’s just the markets being markets and responding to increased price signals…or it’s Trumps fault.
There’s the rub.
This is an existential crisis, albeit of the regime’s making, but one it is obligated to address with great urgency.
Chima has already got lots of their supplies stored by, like we should have also but don’t. They also eat a lot different than we do…..
Famine abroad points to embargoes at home. Price controls may be thrown in for good measure.
I suspect Rand Paul’s recent Anti-lynching legislation was enacted to protect the Ruling Class against the ensuing blowback. 😏
There is an absolute idiocy that comes with elite ivy league credentials. Everything works by their theories and their theories are all the proof they need that they are right.
You would never get that from a real ag professor who actually helps farmers. But you would never get a real ag professor appointed to make policy in a Democrat administration. No ivy league credentials.
So of course, when the intricate plans are implemented they always fall apart.
But I would be careful of ascribing to incompetence a consistent track of results that always, ALWAYS, leads to the outcomes they have been agitating for.
Many years ago, when my parents were growing up, journalists and reporters came from working class backgrounds. They knew something about the real world. Today these people cycle through elite (ivy league) journalism schools, serve in the bureaucracy or on some politician’s staff, or cycle back to academia. Bottom line is they don’t know diddly squat about how real people live, how things work, much less, in most cases, what they are writing or bloviating about.
Take a five-year sabbatical, move at least 500 miles away from the coastal elites, work a job in the trades or services and return back. Then we can talk.
A few years ago a writer from the WAPO (I think) concluded that Red Lake County, MN was the worst place to be in the US, based on US Agriculture department data. Red Lake Falls, MN, called and invited him to visit. He moved there and is raising his kids there.
I could not get past the Pelosi hands and “carve out”. I’ve decided when liberals talk and have basically nothing to say they do the “Pelosi”. The hand waving is a distraction for lack of substance.
Where do all these dolts come from?
Universities.
Collegiate Leftist Indoctrination Centers.
Reminder: Bill Gates is buying vast swathes of farmland, while simultaneously promoting/demanding that we segue to meatless meat. As Katherine Austin Fits says, we must develop our own communities/co-ops in order to survive.
When our country allows China and gates and other elite to purchase our farms they will create a food shortage when instructed.
Well,I tell ya China is not buying our farmland to feed us!
Gates might, if the price is right. For him.
They are probably buying our farmland to feed their own country.
They are….along with overfishing in other nations traditional fishing grounds.
Total incompetence! We have a transportation secretary with no familiarity with supply chains and a CEA chairman with no clue about farming.
I don’t know much about wheat farming, but I do know that a crop had to be planned last fall and winter for this year’s spring planting. Even back-yard gardeners have seedlings growing and some things already planted.
I’m a little concerned that we may have a corn shortage because of the cost of nitrogen. Some local farmers are planning to plant soybeans as a result. The fire at the Winston-Salem fertilizer plant in February left some holes in supply.
Totally incompetent.
Totally deliberate.
For AWHILE, perhaps 2-3 weeks at most, I entertained the idea all the consequences of the Brandonites were intentional, even as I was sceptical.
When I saw Tucker asking;
WHY, if they knew Russia was going to invade Ukraine, as Biden was telling us for WEEKS, didn’t they secure the bioweopons labs?
THEN, I saw the Polish migs debacle, where Poland said “fine, if YOU want to give the migs to Ukraine, go ahead, we’ll park them at Landsuhl Germany!”
I would think if this was all planned, and intended by some SMART evil people, and that they INTENDED to bait Putin into invading Ukraine, that they would have shut down the biolabs, and resolved the issue of Polish migs privately and well before hand.
These people are incompetent, mediocre, have been promoted for their incompetence, exist in a bubble of such perverse incentives, have never experienced the negative consequences of their own actions, have no contact with reality,..
They crave CONTROL, which is authority WITHOUT responsibility, and they are over-educated idiots who would not survive a week on a factory floor or construction site.
Have NEVER worked at a job with a sign showing the # of days since the last work related accident.
“They crave CONTROL, which is authority WITHOUT responsibility.”
This is a keen observation and explains a lot of what we see being practiced by the political class.
Our county’s winter wheat was planted last fall and is nice and lush lookin, just waiting for warmer weather to do its wheat thing for July harvest. Our problem is the DC people building houses in fields that used to be planted. The fields around our farm are usually corn or soybeans and are a beautiful purple as the Dead Nettle is blooming before the readying of the fields. Really lovely.
The farmer behind us raises cattle and usually by this time has added seed to the pasture for grazing. Not sure what the plan is for this year. I have also noticed the lack of giant chicken poo piles usually in place by now. Maybe the cold snap has delayed things.
I can say that the Ivy League idiots in government have no idea how stuff is produced. And the feed for our chickens and ducks just went up $1 again.
I believe it was Betsy Jones (please correct me if I am mistaken on name) who in the past week brilliantly identified the current regime in DC as a “Kakistocracy”. That says it all.
Aren’t you glad that we live in a Wilsonian democracy where bureaucratic experts manage the minute details of our lives. S/
Well, I was going to try to listen to the whole thing–but the second time the talking person started a sentence with “Sooo…………..” I had to let it go.
What is it with these supposedly educated mouthpieces that they do that……it’s like they think they are actually just finishing someone else’s sentence.
On a parallel note regarding how long educated ignorance has been part of reality: in 1957 I was in 8th grade. The high school got a new Home Ec teacher. Then a whoopsie happened: the high school girls threw a strike and everyone one of them refused to sign up for Home Ec, which was an elective for them. Every single one of them.
So the 7th and 8th graders were forced to take it. As we got acquainted with our new instructor, she sort of let us in on the level of her ignorance when she asked us where eggs came from.
As I recall, we tried to simply answer her question and waited until we were on the country busses headed home before we reacted. Our mothers would have been essentially displeased if we had not been nice. Unfortunately, having ignorant people around is nothing new.
Putting them in charge of stuff at the rate they’ve been put in charge of stuff over the last twenty years (with the exception of Donald Trump’s cabinet) is a new thing. They are as stupid as they appear to be.
Don’t try to understand it. Don’t try (openly/in public) to compensate for it. Hunker down and take care of yourself.
Farmers have ALLOTMENTS of SPECIFIC NUMBERS OF ACRES OF SPECIFIC CROPS they are allowed to grow!
They can NOT just plant whatever they want, how much they want, and wherever they want it!
The USDA would have a problem with that, and CAN ORDER THEM TO PLOW THE CROP UNDER! (Destroy it.)
I wonder if this has to do with how many acres the USDA will provide crop insurance for, rather than actually limiting what they are “allowed” to plant?
Yes, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have crop insurance! Too many things can go wrong.
Victory Gardens?
internet shows how to do strawberries from 1 strawberry, peppers from seeds of 1 pepper, tomatoes from seeds of tomato, and celery or carrots from ends of stems and potatoes from eyes while lettuce, and cucumbers from seed packages and using cut plastic bottles instead of pots
You can’t do most of that unless you buy heirloom varieties. Most all peppers sold in the grocery store are hybrids. Ditto for cucumbers, many strawberries, tomatoes etc. You won’t grow what you think you will.

Farmers don’t (can’t) plant a crop they don’t have a buyer (contract) for. Bank won’t lend the money to buy fertilizer and labor unless most of the crop is secured by contract. If a farmer grows good potatoes, he can get a contract. If he grows wheat different contract. The farm commodities market is tightly controlled. The company that holds the contract has control of the farmers methods and closely watches the investment. Fail to produce your contract amount – you owe. Produce more and maybe you can find a buyer. There are no stupid farmers unlike government.
What you’ve outlined is true for highly perishable crops like potatoes and other fresh veg, but it is not the case for hard grains, which can be stored on-site for many years, and sold when commodity prices are favorable.
Most grain-producing family farmers sell to a local co-op elevator with price negotiated on delivery based on evaluation criteria like percentage protein, seed contamination with weed or grass seed, insect bodies, mold, fungus, rodent droppings, etc.
How many companies got the information long before the general population did about the food shortages that we are going to see? Many of them did, or how come they already have the new packaging and amounts on the packages lowered. Already, the gallon is now 1.5 quarts. This has all taken time to get new packaging, and new designs changed. Didn’t happen in just the last few months. What about all the ‘previous’ packaging that they have to dispose of…..write off all that on their income tax losses? They have all known this for months more than the general public did..
Of course if you were paying attention, most people should have had lots of ‘food’ stuff stored ahead of time. We have all heard we all need to be prepared for emergencies, but how many are actually prepared for less food available?
IMPLICATIONS of our FEDERAL FOREIGN FOOLISHNESS
Destroys [unaffordable because underproduced] Demand for FERTILIZER
… destroying [unplanted and underfertilized] Supply of GRAIN
… destroying [unbred and then unfed] Supply of LIVESTOCK
… destroying [unavailable and consequently unaffordable] Supply of FOOD
… creating [famine-induced] MALNUTRITION, IQ DESTRUCTION and STARVATION
… leading to [panic-driven] MASS MIGRATION, CRIMINAL CHAOS and REVOLUTION
… and destroying [unfundable] Demand for DISCRETIONARY PRODUCTS.
Amazing how their map ignores the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
Why are we only complaining and not looking for innovative solutions to the fertilizer shortage? We are a huge country with lots of resources. We have creative, smart, daring people. Why do we act as if Russia, China and Belarus are the only places capable of producing fertilizer?
Good grief. This is a great country that has done great things throughout our history and many of them have been in response to situations just like this. Let’s brainstorm here. Many Of us are those creative, daring people. Any ideas?
I would guess we are starting to see the effects of the 88 year Gleissburg Solar Cycle. …1847, 1936, 2024. I learned this more than 20 years ago from Elwynn Taylor Professor of agronomy climatologist at Iowa State University. Remember the dust bowl? This will soon be renamed human climate warming… Wait for it…
The Grapes of Wrath will soon be re-named “the Wrath of Climate Change”
Too much of our local arable land has been devoted to growing legal canabis. Overgrowing, in fact, with the assistance af Mexican drug cartels incuding stealing irrigation water.
Those are the crops I’d like to see changed.
Not to mention Chinese buying up our farmland for their benefit.
No one is going to be telling them to change crops.
We may start seeing the effects of the 88 year Gleissberg Solar Cycle which is coming right up. …1847, 1936, 2024. I learned about this 20 years ago from Elwynn Taylor Professor agronomy climatologist at Iowa State University. He seemed pretty convinced back then. Remember the Dust Bowl?
Farmers vs Politicians.
There are also farm practices where wheat is harvested, the stubble is burned and a farmer plants soybeans.
2 crops harvested in 1 year.
The negative is fertilizer cost and diesel.
Another practice is harvesting corn at the end of summer and planting winter wheat in the fall.
American ag science has so many ways to boost annual crops.
Another is crop rotation and planting wheat every other year. Need less fertilizer. One year idle.
Apparently, Kamala has patented the eject button maneuver…
Free-market capitalism is evil and must be stymied at every turn … until people start starving in droves, at which point the capitalists are evil for not having predicted and prepared for the State-induced food shortages, supply chain destruction, and “unexpected” starvation.
Same as it ever was …
The people setting these policies buy a ready made “herb garden” at Pottery Barn, put it on their windowsill, and think they are “living off the land”. They have ZERO idea how farming, manufacturing, or any other actual industry that requires more than a PoliSci or Philosophy degrees works so they breezily make off the cuff remarks that bear NO resemblance to real life and are utterly offended when people challenge them!
And they are “led” by a man who has been in government his entire adult life and still persists in thinking that he is the “smartest man in the room” despite all of the evidence to the contrary!
At this point the Biden “advisors” need to check their underwear with all the $hi¥ coming from their mouths, there is obviously a blockage and another exit point!
The pasta sections of three different grocery stores I have visited in the past week all are depleted of pasta. It will only get worse. If you are fortunate enough to come across this soon-to-be extinct staple, stock up.
The Kansas winter wheat crop is drought stressed. Expect to pay more for pasta when you find it.
https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/
I bought a pasta machine last year because it was heavily discounted. If it lets me make egg noodles I can get by for a long time with cabbage and noodles.
This is what happens when the people in charge are clueless as to how the world works. I see stupid people everywhere … Not sure we will make until 2024. God help us.
In owning a farm of relative size our family puts approximately 10% of our income towards long term food and supplies monthly… And have been doing so for years.
My advice… Get to buying NOW and stock by CALORIES… NOT by servings.
I tell folks looking to move out here that the nearest Starbucks is over 30 miles away, there is no DoorDash and no Uber. Then ask them if they have their own snow plow to get out in winter.
They get the message.
“Wheeze donts needs no farms, wheeze gots grocery stores…”
~Stacy Abrams
She has several, judging from the looks of it.
I think you’re confusing grocery stores with her Golden Corral lifetime membership.
Krispy Kreme franchises is what we heard..
When the manager at Golden Corral sees Stacy headed their way, they bar the door, turn out the lights, and throw up a “closed” sign …
A very large friend of mine and I went to a Chinese Buffet many years ago for lunch. He is known to “get his money’s worth” at an all-you-can-eat buffet type of setting.
After his fourth trip to the buffet, this little Chinese woman came running out of the kitchen screaming “You go home now! You eat too much!” in her inimitable Chinese accent
I literally almost rolled on the floor laughing!
I had a friend that I once worked with by the name of (Big) John, whose appetite was commensurate with his prodigious size. After likewise chowing down, the proprietor came out, shouting, “No more! No more! You eat too G***amm much! “All You Can Eat” is OFFER, not CHALLENGE!”.
After he’d calmed down, he apologized, went back to the kitchen, and came out with a pitcher of beer and several glasses. He said that the beer was on the house provided we simply finished what was on our plates and left.
Stacy Abrams was trying to get to the closest Golden Corral. She knew it was off of I-285. She asked a young man how to get to 285 and he said with diet and exercise you should get there in no time.
Her own express lane.
You nailed her accent perfectly.
