The same people who told us to appreciate saving $0.16 on our July 4th BBQs last summer are now taking the official position there is no massive food inflation. [DATA HERE]
Those skyrocketing prices you think you see at the grocery store are not real. Those announcements of forecasted price increases by the food producers, well, those are not real either. So sayeth the United States Dept of Agriculture (USDA).
In their update to the USDA pricing forecast and analysis dated January 25, 2022, the USDA claims: “2021 retail food price inflation continued at same pace as 2020 but varied among food categories.” Oh, but it gets even more stupid:
“USDA, Economic Research Service (ERS) researchers project that prices for food-at-home, or food purchased typically from grocery stores or other food stores, will increase between 1.5 and 2.5 percent in 2022, lower than the 3.5-percent increase that occurred in both 2020 and 2021. Forecasts for all food categories for 2022 are available in ERS’s monthly Food Price Outlook data product, updated January 25, 2022.” (link)
If there was ever an argument that every single institution in the U.S. government was corrupt, manipulative and ideologically bent, this claim by the USDA would be a case study in the supportive evidence.
Apparently, if you are to follow the outlook of the USDA – and reconcile their institutional hypocrisy, Joe Biden increased the rate of food stamp assistance by 25 percent for some unknown reason. Because according to the Dept of Agriculture, “Retail food prices increased by a mere 3.5 percent in 2021, equal to the rate in 2020.”
3.5% ?
You just cannot make this up.
Beef has doubled in price. Bacon has gone up by 30% in the last quarter. Milk has gone up by 40% in the past two months. Fish, eggs and poultry are between 30 to 60% higher than a year ago. Fresh fruits and vegetables still rising in price. Food producers have announced price increases in products from 8% to 60% in the next few months. Beverages and sports drinks are rising 20% beginning in March. Kraft Foods announced processed meat (lunchmeat) price increases up to 30% in a few weeks. However, according to the USDA, these are not the droids you are looking for.
We are living in a parallel universe, a true state of propaganda pushed by the institutions of government.
Count all the people with COVID as having died from COVID to maintain the fear. Hide the ships further offshore, and the port backlog disappears. Don’t count the imported goods, and our domestic economic activity is great. Ignore the prices at the grocery store, and there is no food inflation…
It would be funny if the reality of our situation was not so serious.
I put my 16 cent hot dog savings in Pfizer stock.
A millionaire now!!
Shhhh. The IRS may be listening!
Incroyable.
Oui, mai c’est surtout dégoûtant!
Our government is quickly becoming the Politburo.
they have been for awhile. a lot of us just finally started noticing.
tear it down.
Agreed. I read Ugly Cuss’ comment as \sarc
Sorry, it already is the politburo.
I’m starting to cone to the belief that two things are happening here…the DC elite and their media pals are completely out of touch with the vast majority of Americans. The other thing is they had no idea FJB, Kammy, Alfred E Butegeig and the rest of the administration really were complete idiots and have no ability to govern. So now the media and the unelected permanent political class has to literally create reports out of whole cloth to keep from entering a political catastrophe for their party. Now the Obama/marxist faction has no problem at all with trust in all institutions being eroded away want the collapse for their great reset with the globalists. But the reckoning is coming. What they’ve done will be their undoing.

Huh? Becoming? Hell, they have a Cheka now, for political prisoners.
This feels like The Truman Show! (but it’s reality)! /smh
Well – they do have Brandon giving speeches in a fake west wing while Obama and Valerie run the country from the real one.
There’s no doubt that Obama is on a higher level than Biden, and Val is a step above Obama; but neither one of them is the Puppet Master.
Who do you think the puppet master is?
Soros and his Global criminal cabal.
Clarence Thomas’s wife is under viscious attack for saying much the same thing
BINGO!!!!
Soros, Gates, Klaus are higher than the others but still not the puppet masters.
Ms. Jarrett was said to be Obama’s handler. She is likely the CIC (Communist in Charge) at the white house.
More like “Idiocracy” in real life. Then again, the POTUS in that move was 100 times more competent than Joe Biden.
The Party is right even when it is wrong.
Now this…
UNIVERSITY SLAPS TRIGGER WARNING ON GEORGE ORWELL’S 1984…
https://freeread.causeaction.com/2022/01/24/university-slaps-trigger-warning-on-george-orwells-1984/
News from the bat. Not many people know this, George Orwell wrote a book that was published eighty years ago titled, “The New World Order.” Go look it up. Go to AbeBooks dot com and buy yourself a copy. Orwell writes that the majority of people on Earth have to die in order for the new utopia to be formed.
creepy. does it say anything about 500,000,000?
Exactly right.
Don’t you mean H. G. Wells who wrote a book called The New World Order? I was curious and looked and can’t find a book by that title by George Orwell.
Well, the CEO of Pfizer has admitted that the vaccines don’t even work.
Reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.
But they do all work towards providing his annual multi million dollar payout.
How about doses 59 and 60? Do those work?
They work the way the Globalists plan, just not to protect from Covid or other maladies.
all things considered, I’d rather do like the Egyptians and pay a high priest to write a spell to keep the COVID away… Where are those evil eye Amulets at?

I did the weekly grocery shopping yesterday. Prices on a lot of items were pretty shocking. Here’s to better times for patriots!
I was at a local grocery store this morning, looking for the large Coffeemate, original flavor. None there but a large flavored one was $8.65. I remember not long ago the regular flavored, large one was $3.69. It is around $5 now at Walmart when they have it, which is rare. I have been watching for Rice Krispies for about 3 months.
Just use half-n-half, it tastes better, it’s (at least for now) relatively cheap, and doesn’t have sugar in it like most of those flavored creamers. A quart of half-n-half lasts me all week, and I drink a lot of coffee each morning.
Rice Krispies have gone bye bye here in my little part of Texas for longer than that.
Graham crackers are extinct in my neck of the woods.
Food Network has a really great and easy recipe to make Graham Crackers homemade, way better than store bought and way cheaper. I’m in the process of learning how to replace all store bought pre manufactured items I possibly can.
I love the cinnamon ones, and in 2 months have gone from $1/box (WM brand), to $1.60.
60% inflation.
I do too, but can’t find the either! Only the honey which I don’t care for.
If you go to duck duck go and search rice kripies cereal recipe, you will find them. Super easy to make at home, and so much cheaper it’s ridiculous.
I’ve been looking for Rice Krispies too. I wonder what’s wrong. Did Snap, Crackle and Pop get the Omicron?
$8.79 today in my store. It is rare that they have it and I started mixing it with milk. It still gives me the flavor.
Many, many of the prices on things that I buy have doubled.
Our stores are not putting price tags on the shelves any more, so you don’t know WHAT you’re paying for anything.
If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
Seems the plan to completely discredit every agency, bureau and office within the Federal Government is well on its way to a conclusion.
Certainly makes it easier to replace the entire edifice in one fell swoop, to one more amenable to collectivist principles.
If we open the federal government up to be replaced, I say we dissolve it and return to 50 independent sovereign states (or more), and allow all sovereign states to form their own relations between them, and each to introduce their own money or currency. Let those that embrace freedom and the original principles of the constitution be freed from those who would enslave us.
Guess they are eating water? Geez!
My average grocery store bill per month is about 40% higher than last year – I keep track of all my expenses.
Mine hasn’t gone up… because I’m changing what I buy and eating from the pantry and freezer.
It will jump eventually, but I’m trying to put it off as long as possible.
Adapt and change or do without is a policy we’ve embraced as well.
Keep that freezer full!!!
Not water. Not in Philadelphia anyway. Our water bill is up about ten percent and we’re down a person in the household – last year this time our daughter was back living with us because the DC area was too locked down for her liking.
Did they ever build that casino in Fishtown? I was figuring it would ruin that area where the Irish,Germans,Poles lived.
Retired Magistrate here: Well, it makes sense. We don’t have a real President either!
Why do many, if not all, of your posts start with, “Retired Magistrate here”?
Uh, gee I don’t know,…suppose its cause marcia is,…I don’t know,…a RETIRED MAGISTRATE?!!?
But why is it relevant?
Because it’s her thing and she’s awesome. It’s both humorous and comforting imho.
I know. I think it’s a nice intro. I remember a couple others who had similar intros and I miss hearing from them.
She’s earned it!
My screaming wallet never believes government liars … if they say it, it’s a lie.
And my wallet will never hear the truth spoken on the Nightly Noise … all the media lie as well.
My potion sizes are smaller … but that’s okay … I still need to lose another ten pounds.
The only bright side. That and learn how to stretch meat. I just made the best Brunswick stew!
My favorite!!!!!!
Please share the recipe….
If you spring for a small steak, you can pull on it in all directions before cooking, and then it fills part of the plate to look like more. Worked when I was a frugal newlywed 45 years ago, and it’s working again now!
What sort of potions are you brewing…asking for a friend….:)
To be serious tinctures of herbs may be very apropos in the near future to help abate the adverse impact of spike protein shedding.
The lying government should try shopping at an actual grocery store.
Everything is up 30% to 200% .
Why? That’s a job for contractors. /s
All part of the plan; generate a crises.
Use the crises, and real or faked “pleas from folks to “DO something!” in order to justify the policies you want.
They are aiming for PRICE controls, actually wage and price controls. So, the same unelected buerocrats that detirmined WHICH workers were and weren’t ‘essential’ (and then crapped all over the ‘essential’ ones) who did the no mask, one mask, two mask shuffle, will set prices and wages for EVERYONE, won’t THAT be lovely.
But wait, theres MORE! Buttface and Brandon just announced they are instituting a zero-tolerance policy to TRAFFIC DEATHS.
No doubt, they will pay incentives for them to be declared suicides?
Once they take away most of our cars traffic deaths should fall significantly.
Ass-transit to the rescue!
And our gas.
They don’t want anyone else killing people, Fauci and Gates get jealous.
Dutch, they’ll get their zero tolerance traffic deaths by labeling all of them as Covid deaths.
we pay for all their stuff it’s not a big deal for them. joebama has been stealing everything for the last sixty years !!!
Could it be possible the corporations like Kraft Foods who have aligned with corrupt government and big tech to be raising prices drastically and permanently not because they have to but because they want to simply enrich themselves while simultaneously creating a populace dependent on government for survival etc? Big Tech employees for example may pay more but they can still afford to live long enough until the completion of the “Great Reset” at which time the traditional process of capitalisms doesnt exist anymore.
BINGO!
When you understand BlackRock owns controlling share in most everything
what you wonder about is very plausible
https://www.dailysignal.com/2022/01/28/larry-fink-esg-capitalism/
Its a little more complicated than that, and obviously some treepers have neglected to read Sundances articles.
Going from memory and my undrrstanding; the multinationals, having DEEP pockets, can (thru contracts) buy up all the raw materials they anticipate needing, into the future, at todays prices.
This creates a shortage, so that smaller producers are squeezed out of the market, as they have no raw materials to work with.
So, just as “small businesses” have been destroyed, they are now going after smaller producers.
Eventually, just as with everything else, we will have no choice, and will like it.
some maybe , but i have been here at CTH for many many years and I read everything.
I do agree that part of the problem is as you say and sundance has written.
But “they have no raw materials to work with” does not mean those materials are not being held back on purpose by companies with blackrock fingers in the stew.
I have shared many articles about BlackRock and all their connections and it’s astounding.
I do how ever wonder why Sundance hasn’t compiled all the info into one CTH blog post yet
Larry Fink and Blackrock are heavily invested in green energy stocks along with AL Gore and John Kerry. It’s why the Democrats push the Climate Change Hoax so hard. In addition, it’s a marketing strategy for the Democrats. Once you buy into the Arctic melting and oceans rising there’s only one choice and that’s voting for them! Republicans never came up with a strategy to counter this! Too stupid, I guess.
Obama and CCX. Goldman Sachs is heavily invested in the scam
that’s Kraft- Heinz now, you know the guy with the Elmer Fudd cap, flaps down tonight thanks to al gore.
I look forward to how they are going to explain the shelves that are rapidly emptying as the months progress.
Marauding bands of “January 6th insurrectionists” roam through supermarkets at nights – on orders of “Trump” and steal essential food items from the stores to make you think there are shortages…
I was thinking that it was the Canadian truckers and the Russian infiltrators that support them.

I do all of the shopping and have made friends with some of the employees at one of the markets I frequent. I had a rain check for an item that had been on sale, (buy one, get one free). The other day I used it to get the item and on checking out, my favorite lady processed it and gave it back to me and winked at me and wished me a good day. So I get to use it all over again at a later date.
Little acts of kindness and defiance.
And theft…
Just a little.
i love the self checkout at walmart, every other item is free
Pray tell, are you implying that some might steal to feed their families and themselves?
I have shopped at the same family owned grocery store for over 40 years (CA). With all the mandates and prohibitions from Gruesome Newsom, and looking to a day when the unvaxxed may be banned from grocery stores, I made arrangements with the store to email them my grocery list and have one of the employees deliver my groceries to my house (with a delivery fee) if the need arises.
I remember when that used to be normal, when a kid working at the grocery store would take a box of groceries on his bike to an older lady in the neighborhood, and did it because people helped each other back then.
How wonderful that you still have that in your town!
I’ve done the same with the lovely staff at my neighbourhood Wal-Mart for no other reason than they are such nice people. It just makes life so much more pleasant.
The ones at mine are dull as rocks and sullen to boot. Most of them don’t even speak an English I understand.
Politicians, especially Democrat Politicians have always gotten away with ‘Flatout Lying’ and never held accountable…..Adam Schiff comes to mind as to how brazen they are with lying…..This brazen, in your face lying from the WH is on par and the MSM with carry their water…..You’ll also notice that most of these politicians doing the lying are Lawyers……..
“Two politiciand are having a public debate. On says “Your LIEING!” the other says “Yes I AM, but hear me out!”
An assault occured on the floor of Congress; one Congressman attacked another, severely beating him with a wooden cane which eventually broke.
No charges were filed. The debate was over the issues which led to the Civil war.
The thing the victim said, which triggered the assault?
He called his opponent a “Damn liar!”
Gaslighting.
Being made to believe what you see with your own eyes is just not true. Not the higher prices or the smaller amounts in packages. And if you refuse to go along with the narrative, and show proof of the price increases- like old and new packages, or dated cash register receipts – you are dismissed with a snide remark, or accused of exaggerating. Like you are crazy – or a troublemaker. If all else fails, they blame the farmers, ranchers, processors, trucking and shipping companies, oil companies and grocery stores. It’s always everyone else.
And heaven forbid you try showing dated photos of empty shelves. They refuse to admit any of it. Deny, deny, deny.
There should be no doubt that true Marxists control government
I haven’t been to a fast food place in quite a while, so you can imagine my shock when my son and I stopped at Chik fil-A and it cost $31 for a couple of 4-piece chicken tenders, two medium Mac-n-cheese, and two large lemonades.
Won’t be doing that again!
😳!!!!!!
The CEO went woke. I wouldn’t eat there if it was free!
Agree Joe…..and the food has gone south as well.
I hope In N Out expands their menu some day.
Me 4!!! I no longer give them any business. The CEO believes Christians are racists – the ones who believe all men are created equally. A CEO who professes to be a Christian no less. I have better things to do with my blessings.
The best deals at chick-fil-A is the kids meal.
I went shopping today. Shaw’s. I think they’re regional. I’m in Vermont.
I finally broke down and downloaded their app which gives digital deals. You also get deals targeted at you based on what you buy over time.
I had a $2.99 a pound deal on 80/20 ground beef. It was $4.99 a pound without the digital deal and that was on sale. Base price was $6.49 a pound.
Picked up a couple of roasts(limited to 2) at $2.69 a pound.
Got 2 tubs(limited to 2) of Signature Farms Ice Cream for $.97 each.
Got a free 6 pack of paper towels and a 12 pack of t.p. for free. Using up Shaw’s shopping points from before I started using the app this week.
I spent just under $200 but racked up a 33% savings. Saved $100. Putting stuff in my chest freezer for hard times to come.
I absolutely love this website. Great info and great people!
Score. That’s some great savings and smart shopping.
Vons is their sister store for those of you on the left coast.
Did a little pre inflation shopping today. Got 3 lb packages of Safeway Signature thick cut bacon for $11.99 per package.
Best Foods Mayo $3.99 on sale. So, either they’re fudging it in blue states like Oregon or they have sufficient stock built up to keep the price down for a bit.
I’ve noticed too that our food prices don’t seem quite as high as others are reporting.
That price for bacon was really good, it is not that cheap in the I5 corridor.
Mmm, bacon! You can about use that stuff for currency around here now. It’s scarce, as I knew it would be. Hoarders are making it hard to get.
I think I’d eat a rock…..wrapped in bacon…
There will always be regional differences. We’re in farm country and close to a dairy that supplies the regional markets so there’s minimal shipping and not near the increase in dairy product prices that friends in other parts of the country. By contrast we’re definitely seeing the spike in fresh produce.
Newport. Trying to shop the sales as much as possible.
Our Ray’s store does their best. Their Angus beef in the meat department is good. Got London broils for $3.99 per pound. Limit of 4. There are a lot of touristsas that put up on yelp about the high prices, but hey!
They have to keep the doors open. Some prices are literally within pennies of what Safeway and Fred Meyer’s charge.
We shop all the sales, use the advantage card. You get a cash rebate every quarter. I got $10 this last quarter.
The phraseology of this communique is just so kinky. I’ve never encountered a report that references “food-at-home.” What pray tell does that refer to such that it is worthy of separate designation? How is food-at-home different from food purchased at a market and then brought home? Are they referring to food grown in home gardens and then calculating an aggregate price for tomatoes on that basis, for instance? Or trying to estimate how many Americans have access to their own cows for milk and butter etc and doing the same as for tomatoes?
And how about the deceptive “or food purchased typically from grocery stores OR OTHER FOOD STORES.??” Would other food stores refer to charity food banks where the price of purchase might be zero or below half price?
Also, has the atrociously dishonest report factored in the millions of racially privileged Americans that received Biden’s sloppy kiss of a 40% increase in their lifetime, transferable, EBT subsidies?
It strikes me that all of the foregoing is true and that the Biden regime has ONCE AGAIN cooked its books, instead of taking concrete price data and presenting them as they are.
I have no idea WHAT the Government double speak means,…but Sundance has been writing articles for some time explaining there are two, seperate supply chains for food;
“Food at home” means food consumers buy in the store, and take home to COOK and eat.
Food away from home is cafeterias, fast food and restaurants, and they have a DIFFERENT supply chain; McDonalds doesn’t get their hamburger patties at the local grocery store.
MAYBE this is what they are referring to??
Food-at-home….
where it’s cooked….maybe….????
Food at home as opposed to food on park bench!
Try food eaten at home versus food eaten not at home like school cafeteria, fast food and restaurants. Sundance has many good articles describing the issue. Search bar on the right side of the home page.
Only a gullible fool would trust anything our federal government says anymore. They are all disgusting liars. What I don’t understand is why they have chosen to lie, cheat, and steal from their own damn citizens.
Because half the country is comprised of Deplorables. They want us replaced by illegal aliens who will keep them in power.
“Don’t believe your lying eyes” – Brandon Biden
Phew, what a relief! Food costs went up 25% for those given EBT cards but only 3.5% for the rest of us!
It’s only a relief when you’re on relief.
Well, except Social Security COLA was 5.9,…
But then they raised Medicare premiums by $35.
Although that was just cause Medicare was reimbursing hospitals for killing people, so that doesn’t really count.
“Food costs went up 25% for those given EBT cards but only 3.5% for the rest of us”
yeah, ain’t that a helluva thing, MLK?
Potemkin Putzes.
So I guess that family friend who had a talk with Delusional Joe and Jill about the price of hamburger is a liar?
Roll that tape again please…
Lies, Lies everywhere are lies. Blocking up the scenery. Breaking my mind.
If you’re old enough to know the song you’ll catch the parody.
Aside from that, it’s just another day in Ameristan.
When I walk in the room where the tv is on one of those propaganda channels, I feel like I am living on another planet. I cannot get over how foreign the reporting sounds to me, like I live in an alternate universe or something. Then I remember that this is the only news a large part of our populace is getting. All the truth is being suppressed. Sometimes I even question if maybe I am the one who’s not getting the truth. Then I say, “nah”. I know the truth when I see it and the truth isn’t on that tv.
Yes, Mom, I agree. I rarely watch TV and when I do it is only old reruns, a little college football or golf. Other than that I have absolutely no use for TV any longer. But, to your point, when I visit places with TVs on, especially with “news” on, I shake my head. Not at the propaganda and lies coming from the TV but at the people who are watching and listening. Honestly, there is no way I can think of to gauge the absence of rational thought and intellect in those who engage, attentively, to the utter madness that is “news” in today’s world. But they live among us, en masse. God bless.
Obama can’t run a country. He’s turned all this into a circus. He can’t hide behind LGB.

Usda is an absolute bloated useless bureaucracy. It was perhaps viable 100 years ago–but not today.
A primary function is to redirect your tax $$ to subsidize corporate agribusiness to grow corn and soybeans and keep prices down when shipped to our ‘good friends’ in China.
Not only do they strip mine the taxpayer, the practice of large scale monocropping, plus excess fertilizer production, beats the stuffing out of our water and soil systems.
Could not agree more.
This is insulting. We’re being gaslighted by our own government.
I am torn.
I would prefer the USDA say there is no food inflation. Otherwise they will increase the various benefit programs and then those prices are more likely to stick. If there are not increased benefit payouts then the multinationals will have to revisit their cost structure and adjust prices down.
You are thinking too logically. FedGov can do both at the same time and justify it all the way with no wince of conscience or intellect.
Every gubmint institution is a lying dog-faced pony soldier.
1. Arrest the traitors.
2. Seize the tv stations.
3. Show the evidence 24/7.
4. Televise the trials.

Actually, many of the local guys will be the recipients of that judgment!
No we will have trials, but unlike theirs, there will be real evidence of real crimes.
We want to make sure there can be no doubt or lies spread afterwards.
People really should be getting scared and calling their banks. Ask them if they have signed any Bail In contracts. They are coming for our money! If you have a short attention span, watch from 7 minutes. This is a guy who has lived through it!
I think the USDA needs to shift its decimal place over one to the right.
Gee, the USDA will sure be embarrassed just as soon as the future gets here and them new fangled phones with cameras in them where people can takes pictures of empty shelves and items with prices on them. Then when the internet gets invented people can post that evidence on the web. Cant wait.
“pictures of … items with prices on them”
… complete with little “I did that –>” Joe Biden pointer-atter stickers
And sadly, there are people out there that will believe this.
EU to hold large-scale cyber attack drill Simulating Supply Chain Crisis

Kroger had Corned Beef Briskets for St. Paddy’s Day – price $6.79 per pound – Last year the same package was $2.59 per pound- thank goodness I bought extra when they were on sale and put them in my freezer. Whole Milk went up 50 cents a gallon this week – Last week $3.19 a Gallon – today $3.69 a Gallon – Thanks Clueless Joe!
So, let’s see… using the new and improved USDA math, that comes to an increase of between 1.5% and 2.5% (using last year’s math it would have been 3.5%, but we’re in a new, lower priced year now). Perfect!
The left’s Long March through the Bureaucracy was complete decades before the Long March through the Education system was victorious.
I certainly agree with your suggestion of mocking these nitwits mercilessly.
They blatantly lie about gas prices, so sending pictures of actual prices at the pump on social media starts a trend. Pretty soon many are doing it, and POTATUS thinks releasing a few barrels from the SPR will do the trick.
Same with empty grocery shelves.
Same with prices on food.
Not only does this point out their blatant lies, but it gets others to think about what they are paying.
Flood social media with enough of these, and even the media can’t ignore it or spin it.
Music and movie videos belong on the OPEN….
The people who tell the lies has gotten me to where I am not near as concerned as I was once. It is the people who believe the lies which is the greater concern for me.
This BS works because they know a “majority” of people believe it. The propaganda outlets blame it on Covid and the sheeple believe it. I am 70 years old, graduated High School in 1970 and it wasn’t many years after that the curriculum bars were lowered to “pass everybody”. It’s not that the “modern day” folks are stupid, it’s that they never learned about critical thinking. Thankfully, those that identify with a conservative tilt seem to have an inherent sense of right and wrong but the liberals don’t have that sense. Unfortunately, they are in control of all of our institutions. Are they going to relinquish to their control…no, it must be taken from them by any means necessary. Looks like we have to go through this every couple of hundred years, wouldn’t be necessary if we paid better attention.
Their parallel facts warrant the creation of a parallel society. We need to figure out a way to do our own thing and ignore their “rules” – create an economy not based on liberal stupidity.
Start by shopping and banking locally, get away from the large chain stores and multi-national banks. Tell them why you are their customer and make it clear you will go elsewhere if they go woke or start supporting the regime.
