Personally, I feel he, or any Governor, WITH A SUPPORTIVE MAJORITY in their State legislature, could be a lot more aggressive in asserting States rights than Desantis has, to date.
He may well have a Legislature with a “Republican majority” where all the power positions are held by Rinos, who are attempting to undermine him, every step of the way.
I don’t know Florida politics that well, but given Christie was a “Republican” Governor just before, and given the Broward County and Miami Dade county nest of corruption, I suspect there is a lot of RINOS still in his State government, undermining him any way they can.

I like DeSantis thus far, and yet, the GOP has been so serially inundated with Trojan horses who were all conservative fire and fury at the start, only to go all Paul Ryan or Dan Crenshaw after being elected. Until I see his entire political provenance, I don’t see anything wrong with tempering expectations about him. I hope he exceeds our expectations, I think he will, BUT I also want to be convinced that he is not appropriating Trump’s successful direct, blunt demeanor as a template only to ascend the political ladder, and then to discard his principles once at the top.

I said this before on another thread but I woke up this morning with this flash of knowledge. In my mind anyway. It said to me Nancy Pelosi has perfected the wrapup smear to get political power for many years and I think that this is her ultimate wrapup smear.
It will be her final hurrah but she will move heaven and earth to prevent the truth from coming out that she actually planned and orchestrated January 6 to hurt Donald Trump. The impeachment didn’t work etc. etc. Nancy doesn’t care if she hurts the country or even kills it as long as she gets what she wants. Hurt Donald Trump and all of his supporters so bad she buries us. And gain political power for the Democrats forever, especially when the voting rights bill passes the Senate. She sees her legacy, and this is her path to achieving it.

I shamefully admit that I watched a few Senators make their impassioned plea, or more appropriately their sales pitch, to the American news media. They are the most successful criminals in the history of America, having pulled off the greatest crime ever committed and have gotten away clean. Not only did they get away clean, but they have created a self perpetuating criminal machine that is steamrolling every American’s freedom. And if they successfully get the filibuster changes that they seek, will in the next three years fine tune their criminal machine to insure election successes in the future.
What happened on the town green at Lexington, Mass. on April 19, 1775 was an insurrection. What happened on the grounds of the Capitol in D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021, regardless of what you think caused it, was most assuredly not an insurrection.
I will add that I think that those charged, for the most part, are heroes…..especially Ashli Babbitt, whom I think needs a monument erected to honor her sacrifice, Maybe when this is all over and if sanity prevails, we can accomplish that task.

One of the biggest problems is that DC is not accessible to many Americans. It is far away on the eastern coast for those of us who live 3000 miles away.These criminals know this!! Every time i see & hear Governor DeSantis I know in my soul he will be our President one day for sure! ( But after Trump wins in 2024 that is!) He’s got ” fire in the belly” and not afraid to take on the pompous media & any others who criticize him. He shuts the idiots down magnificently with a calm presidential demeanor. Florida is going great inspite of covid madness. Governor DeSantis is just awesome! Praise God for his leadership.
