Overall inflation is crushing the middle class on a cross-sectional scale I have never before witnessed in my lifetime. Every sector of the economy on Main Street is simultaneously under fire from unavoidable massive increases in prices on all types of goods.
Food, fuel, energy, gasoline, transportation, raw materials, every single sector is under massive inflationary pressure. Biden believes that he can offset these massive costs to the average American worker by providing subsidies for some childcare, some education and some prescription costs. The government cannot subsidize its way to prosperity by redistributing the wealth of workers. The government cannot stop inflation and simultaneously print money. The high cost of childcare is not keeping women out of the workforce. Nothing is free from the federal government. The federal government earns no income, it confiscates the income of workers.
The “17 Nobel Laureate” economists he proclaims support his Build Back Better deal to reduce costs for the middle class are the same “17 Nobel Laureate” economists who claimed, wrongly, inflation was “transitory” six months ago. They have since retracted their prior claims, because it was all based on nonsensical Wall Street propaganda.
Exactly. It drives me nuts when people talk about “free stuff.” It’s like when Biden was talking about subsidized child care that will allow many women to return to work. Yeah, well some other women (and men) who are already working will have to pay for it!!!!

And, as a quick aside, it’s incredible to talk to people who receive government benefits that subsidize all manner of vital living expenses. What I’ve often found is that they have no idea, nor have they even seem to care about, where that money came from and who paid for it.

Reading through the local Nextdoor page is always an interesting study into the human psyche. Someone posted a “Christmas Wish List” on there last week, asking for help with presents for her kids, because she and her husband have been “unable to work since March 2020” due to her having a “severely compromised immune system”.
Several people chimed in immediately to offer to send gifts but a couple actually asked questions about WHY she couldn’t get a job working from home if she was that worried about getting the ‘Rona…and WHY her husband wasn’t working (because she is SO compromised that he can’t work either?) and WHY she were asking for a $150 “gaming chair” for their teen if they are “close to losing their housing”…and WHY she was on Nextdoor a month ago posting pictures of their trip to the coast and asking for recommendations for a “really nice steakhouse” in the area where they could celebrate their 10th Anniversary? She got very offended that anyone would dare to question her and eventually removed the post…
Would lay odds that this is a die hard Democrat voter who resents all the “rich people” who “don’t pay their fair share”!

Somewhat related, I remember a Steven Crowder Change my Mind video early on in the pandemic when vaccines were hard to come by and being prioritized. He was speaking with a college student who had received her first dose and he pointed out that it seemed odd since she was young and health and how did she come to cut in line, essentially, ahead of others who were elderly or immune compromised. I think he even used himself as an example because of his recently diagnosed heart and lung issues (which he’s since had surgery to address) but yet waited to get vaccinated so he wouldn’t take a vaccine from someone who really needed it, like a very elderly person.
So the girl said she was immune compromised. And when he pressed just a bit further, it turned she decided she was immune compromised because….. (wait for it): she was overweight! Yep, she was fat and it was already known that this was a risk factor, so she felt it was fair to jump ahead in line and get vaxxed.

That is incorrect. The government collects billions in revenue in the form of tariffs and import duties via the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In fact, it is the 2nd largest contributor to the US Treasury after the IRS. While individual income taxes are progressive and their implementation is at times draconian, income from tariffs and duties are legitimate ways to provide funds to enable government to function.
If his policies would work and are popular they would not have had to steal the election.
