NY was once quite a republican state…… Outside NYC of course, but even they had a period of clarity electing Giuliani, followed by Bloomberg (not a fan of Bloomberg, but I always said “at least he didn’t FU Giuliani’s accomplishments”).
There were Many Republican governors; they always, up until Hillary, had at least one republican Senator, and up until only a couple of years ago, had republican control of the state senate.

The reason for the masks is to humiliate and depersonalize and condition us to submitting to arbitrary and petty exercises of power by The State. There have been numerous good – meaning scientific – studies demonstrating that masks are essentially useless for preventing transmission of viral pathogens, at best 3 percent efficacy for a “properly fitted” KN95. And as should be obvious, wearing a mask for long periods of time is very harmful, reducing oxygen intake by up to 20 percent and causing dead lung tissue and bacteria that would ordinarily be expelled by coughing to accumulate on the inside of the mask and be recycled. So this obviously has absolutely nothing to do with public health. This idiocy is once again driven by meaningless “case” numbers mainly derived from PCR. There is no standard for testing “cycle thresholds” and with a high CT PCR can detect anything, even a single molecule – of something. But even Fauci admits that at a CT above 30 most of what is detected is just “dead nucleotides”, cellular debris. Moreover a pathogen must be present in abundance in order to cause disease and PCR cannot quantify the amount of a pathogen. Kary Mullis: “Quantitative PCR is an oxymoron”. In any case if a putative pathogen has to be massively amplified to even be detected, how clinically relevant can that pathogen possibly be? Hint: not very. If you ask medical-types who do the testing what the CT is they’ll tell you they don’t know, or they can’t tell you, or, like my doctor, they don’t even know what that means. As I understand it the tests are run at upwards of 40 cycles to guarantee that that they go “ping” for positive. Which means nothing. DeSantis is the only governor who has required the testers to publicly state what their cycle threshold is. Here in MA they say that 83 percent are vaxxed and “cases” are surging above last year. I see another mask mandate coming that I’ll have to ignore. Maybe not. I observe people carefully and for a time last summer few people were wearing them. Now it’s back to 50-60 percent wearing them all the time, alone in their cars, hiking in the woods. It’s good to get outside for fresh air and sunshine but make sure you wear a mask to filter out the oxygen. Discarded masks are everywhere. I saw one yesterday hanging from a parking meter.
