Attorney General Merrick Garland appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions about his involvement in the drafting of a DOJ memo to the FBI requesting support for investigations of parents who attend school board meetings across the country.
While the topic is downplayed by U.S. corporate media, the specifics of the issue are pertinent in that they highlight the politicization of the Justice Department by DOJ officials throughout main justice and the various offices of U.S. attorneys.
Garland was prompted to write his instructions as an outcome of the White House coordinating with leftist political operatives within the education system, specifically the National School Board Association.
It seems apparent, from the questioning and responses today, that Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco was the central DOJ official who coordinated the political intent of the memo. Monaco was previously President Obama’s homeland security advisor and lawyer in the White House. Within the main justice structure, Lisa Monaco is now the head of the DOJ National Security Division, the agency given the prosecutorial power within the Garland memo.
The background of the memo involved parents becoming aware of Critical Race Theory (CRT), essentially Marxist lesson plans within various regional school boards. The parents responded to the information by confronting school boards across the nation. The left-wing political operatives were caught off guard by the massive assembly and grassroots organization of parents in almost all states.
The CRT and education issue galvanized across party boundaries as Republican, Independent and Democrat voters -who are also parents- united in a common cause against the Marxist indoctrination material that is akin to the same playbook that triggered the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
Quickly awakened parents and concerned citizens were confronting the issue, and their commonality became a political risk to Democrats. This triggered contacts from various left-wing organizations to the White House.
The Joe Biden White House -filled with Obama ideologues- responded to the threat of intense political damage, by organizing pushback against parent groups through the various educational organizations, teachers unions and community activists. Their assembled strategy resulted in the letter from the National School Board Association, to the DOJ into the awaiting hands of DAG Lisa Monaco.
Monaco, having previously seeded the discussion within Main Justice about the political threat, then organized and helped draft the memo quickly signed by AG Merrick Garland. The NSBA letter arrived on Friday, and the AG memo instructing the FBI to target parents was signed the following Monday. Everything in the background of the issue highlights how the political needs of the White House become the focus of activity by the U.S. Justice Department.
In essence, the Merrick Garland memo highlights how the DOJ is weaponized against the political opposition of the White House; this is the larger issue.
Given the recent examples of the DOJ being weaponized against their political opposition, the Garland memo is seemingly just another data point in an endless assembly of data-points that prove just how corrupt the U.S. system of justice has become. However, just because corruption is rampant and transparently obvious does not mean we should allow ourselves to become numb with anticipation of that corruption.
Action to address that corruption starts at the local level with a committed and engaged citizenry who actively address and hold accountable their local school board members and educational officials.
The intent of the Garland memo was to frighten parents away from the corruptions within the education system with the threat of the FBI investigating them. If you allow your behavior and expectations to change based on fear, those who count on fear to manipulate the outcome will win.
Many people view these confrontations by Senators as nothing more than public displays that amount to no accountability. In part, that is correct; however, it is not the responsibility of a senator, any senator, to confront the school board member where the origin of accountability needs to reside.
The role of a U.S. Senator is to hold the federal arm of the DOJ accountable and put them on notice. This is what they are doing. The role of the engaged citizen is to address the educational manipulation on a local level. You cannot abdicate your responsibility to confront corrupt activity in your neighborhood to Washington DC. It is the role and responsibility of the parent/citizen to deal with that corruption.
Snarking at Senators for confrontational hearings might feel like a good way to deflect our responsibility. However, all it does is erode the foundational principle behind our constitutional republic which is built upon individual rights and responsibilities that start at the local level. Those who believe the federal government should address local school board issues, are, by nature of their argument, asking for a larger system of centralized government.

The man who brings me two cords of firewood every fall is an old style Oregon farmer-of-trees-‘n’-cattle, committed to caring for what he has received. He’s in his mid-70s, He owns acres of timber, runs cattle on it as well as harvesting it for commercial purposes (runs the cattle/beef partly to keep the forest floor clean of burnable stuff), grows and sells Christmas trees, etc. He’s a lifelong community man in rural Oregon.
When he brought the wood last month, we had a good conversation about the state of the nation, as we always do.
We ended up talking about the business of school disasters and he ended up sharing in some detail the many years he had spent on local school boards, fighting the good fight.
That conversation concluded with his report, “They finally wore me out. We would deal with the same problems, year after year after year. We would think we had it resolved, and then it would just come back in some other form. Nothing ever changed.”
Politics is a lifelong obsession for democrats. Republicans want to solve an issue and then get back to our lives. That’s why we keep losing and why now it’s way past “damn serious”.
H/t you ace of spades for reminding me of that truth.
What we have on display right now in the current administration is the very nature of Satan himself.
Satan has but one objective which to destroy anything wholesome and good.
This onslaught against goodness has and never will be satisfied, it will not stop it is relentless.
Just like the eyes of a greedy man are never full.
As long as there is but one bit of light, one drop of goodness darkness won’t ever stop it’s war against it.
We must keep fighting against this lawless and corrupt generation.

Interesting observation. Over the past 20 years I have served on some Community boards with schoolteachers, school administrators and retired teachers and administrators. One thing that stands out about almost all of them is their absolute inability to get anything done. I am a businessperson. I spent my career in corporate America. We don’t have time to drag our feet and hash and rehash every crummy little issue over and over. An issue is presented, discussed, a decision made, assignments are made and the person assigned is responsible to get it done. At the next meeting they should be able to report back about progress/results.
Apparently that must not be the way academics do things. One board I joined about six months ago brought up an issue at my first meeting that clearly had been discussed before. When I asked how long they had been working on this problem I was told “Twenty years.” For twenty years they spent HOURS every month talking about the same stupid thing with no progress toward a solution. I suggested that this item be removed from future agendas unless and until they were actually ready to act on a solution. Nope! And they are this way about almost everything. After six months they have worn me out and I am stepping down.
Garland repeatedly emphasized that the DOJ, as ‘codified’ by his Oct 4 memo, is solely concerned with violence and threats of violence. If that were the case, the Memo would have expressly stated just that…it doesnt…
The foremost semantic resource for lawyers, apart from case law (stare decisis), is Black’s Law Dictionary…Black’s defines ‘intimidation’ as follows:
Every person commits a misdemeanor, punishable with a fine or imprisonment, who wrongfully uses violence to or intimidates any other person, or his wife or children, with a view to compel him to abstain from doing, or to do, any act which he has a legal right to do, or abstain from doing.
What is to stop any power hungry small minded idiot Board member from contacting the Hot Line any time a parent expresses themselves strongly…ergo intimidatingly…”with a view to compel [that Board Member] to abstain from doing, or to do, any act he has a legal right to do , or abstain from doing”
There is nothing…And Garland knows it….
Board members have a legal right to chart curriculum; parents have a right to challenge that curriculum……
But no where have I seen or heard Garland rescind his “intimidation” language….so how in the Hell is this Memo not chilling, not a sword to be used against parents…
The truth is that was the clear intent of the DOJ…to chill dissent, to punish parents..
Man oh man…those of us with grown children, who are having children or who have children in public school, must advise and support them…give them strength and fortitude to stand up to Boards, Principals, Teachers and Staff….these are our children and grandchildren, for Gods sake…our future….
I will once again state that this has been brewing since at least the mid 90s, if not earlier….this can be rectified, but I dont believe it will happen overnight…..
The only TRUE Solution is to outlaw all forms of Marxism…good luck with that!
The truth of the matter is that Marxists have lived within the USA, albeit most visibly, since early 1900s….the difference between then and now was our masses shared a collective identity and pride as Americans.
Efforts have been ongoing in the public schools and universities since the 60s, escalating with Johnson and his Vietnam War.
Even at that time, there still were ‘old school’ teachers/professors who had been uncorrupted by the ‘new educational formats’ inculcated with the new force of young teachers replacing the old…
So, we now have had decades of unfettered challenge to the teaching standards by which our children are taught. School officials have been guarding their turf while at the same time they indoctrinated two generations, maybe three, of young children…all done while parents were encouraged by the government and its media cohorts to engage in two-parent working homes….
The Marxists/Communists now have a huge swath of young people…many of whom are voting age…and newly arrived individuals, whether legal or illegal, that either feel no affinity tomAmerica or who hate America, love hand outs, hate hard work, and chronically cry ‘victim’…
And just as there were a group of relatively young men…and women…who successfully overthrew the Crown in the 1700s…so too can those, united against the imposition of Marxist policies here, do so today…
It begins at home, and then stretches to the local community, then to the State and then Federal….we all have the power…it is just a matter of using it …especially as a united front.
Live. Unafraid.
These issues have risen from parents finding out what their children are being taught and what teachers were saying in class. They didn’t know before the online learning at home and the parents being home. I know a lady who overheard her son’s elementary school teacher bad mouthing Trump. She started paying closer attention to his lessons and became furious. He is now being home schooled.
How many times has this exact situation been expressed over the past year or more?
This election, I am asking questions, asking for SPECIFIC NAMES, of School Board Members and Town Council Members who either supported CRT, or opposed any effort to stop it, or have been on board with masking and leading efforts for “vaccinating” children
They have become my sworn enemies at this point, even though all my kids are grown and gone…as are their kids (one more graduating in spring)…now it’s THEIR children I fight for
Music to my ears!
Government schools today basically are Satan’s playground.
Every time a school board member claims intimidation and harassment will mean the accused will probably have to lawyer up which will cost money to that parent in order to defend themselves to uphold their free speech.
All this crap started in the 1960s and has not stopped.
And it doesn’t matter if said parent actually ACTS on and threat, real or implied, all that matters is that the Board member “felt threatened.” I am so sick of these weak simps using their power every time their little feelings are hurt.
what are the chances the ‘letter’ is a means of the federal government to insert itself into any local LE complaints that may be received. lefties: violence is language, language is violence = used against parents at school board meetings. as we’ve seen/heard in the past they don’t even have to be a community member. democrats are already attempting to put states sovereignty alongside the Constitution/Bill of Rights into the dustbin of history.
all of this defies a settled Supreme Court decision never opposed that even violent language is permissible if it isn’t specific and extreme criticism of public figures and office holders is protected speech. Funny how when the decision would be negative towards communists suddenly yet another SCOTUS principle quietly disappears.
I wonder if the often unhinged Geraldo Rivera is on the Five to make the other 4 look more intelligent, rational and composed. If so, it’s a mistake. He’s the only glaring misguided idiot on the panel.
Thespian Geraldo vehemently condemned Senators Cruz, Cotton and Hawley for their criticisms of puppet Garland and his weaponizing of the Justice Dept. against parents and many others. Rivera actually claimed the criticisms of the “eminent Judge” were “nasty snarly, disrespectful and made his skin crawl.”
IMO, Garland deserved every eloquent criticism from all the Senators and he should be fired immediately. But his replacement in an out of control Biden handler regime would not likely be any better.
Someone needs to represent the viewpoint of Lachlan Murdoch and Lyin’ Ryan.
That’s why he’s there.
Yes, remember right after the election, he was all over Fox saying his good buddy Trump should just give in. He’s a total fraud, found a perfect home at Fox
why are you watching Fox? you’re part of the problem. Find something else to do.
I don’t watch Fox anymore and haven’t since the election but I didn’t know Geraldo was now on The Five! Sounds like he has moved into being an Ana Navarro, fake conservative, if that is what he is getting out of these hearings. He should be outraged about federal involvement in a local matter.
And like most pointed out, Garland didn’t even research the accusations in that letter. There was no threats, nor violence.
Then fire his replacement and so forth till they run out of neo-Nazis.
Here’s a generic letter I wrote a few months ago: copy it and send it to all your relevant Representatives, especially Elected Judges.
Dear Representative,
I’m writing to notify you that it is becoming very evident that we need laws protecting us from prosecutors that abuse their office for political purposes. This has been ignored and now is a brazen abuse of power in the most odious, obvious, and incorrigible sense.
Now this is what happens when you let people that have never been held accountable run wild. And it will not stop till this despicable double-standard is removed or at least adjusted. These people have been allowed to go completely above the law and now we have a real problem (and they have a problem too, they’re sick in the head).
You know the old Mosaic Law had it that if you falsely accused someone, then you paid the price of the crime that you were accusing them of. I fail to see why that doesn’t apply to prosecutors as well.
Very concerned citizen,
Lisa Monaco does the work for Merrick Garland.
Who knows whom is running the Dept. of Transportation while Mayor Pete is home with his husband and new adopted babies.
Xiden probably needs help changing his pants.
This is an administration and presidency by committee.
Xiden is not in control of the committee but I bet Obama has a hand in it.
The Obama administration circumvented avenues of FOIA by having dummy emails and meetings off sight with no record of them. Hillary is an obvious example.
I’m sorry to say that the Deep State has gotten very good and brazen at circumventing oversight of any kind.
Add that President Trump exposed precisely how dire the UniParty dominance is and this is going to be a hard slog.
I’m a proud American and an optimist. It takes knowing the extent of the problem before we can effectively address it. It’s disheartening at times but the Lesko Brandon and FJB chants give me hope.
Loudon County is a great example. I’m pleased to see the activism in the school board meetings.
We have to claw this country back from the evil forces that seek to make it a tyranny.
Obama wanted the radical change but didn’t think the people would vote for it or allow it so he tried to do incremental change while working mostly on changes that would eliminate the opposition, weaponize the government, and direct huge sums of money to the Dem party so they don’t lose elections.
Once that was solidified, he would implement all the radical changes. He knows Biden has no idea whats going on, doesn’t worry about reelection, and is a useful tool. So Obama and his cohorts, including Pelosi, are going full bore communist thinking they will be able to control elections and maintain power forever. The stage has been set.
Damn!
Only one side of the argument.
But that was a world class Ass-Whoopin!
You missed Senator Kennedy’s , one of the best .
‘General, you’re a vessel, aren’t you?’ Well done, Senator Kennedy. Bravo.
No, they want their opposition to do things that they can claim is an attack on our “Democracy” so they can destroy them by removing their livelihood. They lose their jobs, spend time in jail, lose their home, their children, their social connection, everything.
Hard to be an insurrectionist when you have nothing and are in jail, and no one, no one, stands up for you for fear of the same treatment.
AG GARLAND:
The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights states:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and… “
now this is the important part…
“to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
This guy is a slimy weasal. Yuk….he already has depressed parent particicpation here in NC..of course people here are really passive and easily frightened…wow…I guess they have never gotten over losing the civil war..just no fight at all.
“I guess they have never gotten over losing the civil war..just no fight at all.”
They have been shame conditioned for 150 years to despise their wonderful culture. This would enervate anybody.
I agree with this statement by Sundance 100%. People here are waiting to have someone else do the work for them. Just an old 60’s/hippie activist here, but we did it ourselves. Some went to jail, some went to the country to homestead and drop out, some started their own alternative businesses…we knew the establishment hated us so we did it ourselves.
“The role of a U.S. Senator is to hold the federal arm of the DOJ accountable and put them on notice. This is what they are doing. “In recent months, there has been a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation and threats of violence against parents by a runaway Occupation Government engaged in a free-floating criminal conspiracy against its own citizens.”
I rarely have any good words for Harry Truman but I heartily endorse his sentiments on this particular topic.
I assume he was talking about Joe McCarthy et al. who, whatever his excesses, has been fully vindicated by history regarding the Communist takeover of the American Government–even this very day.
Still, the principle stands.
So Merrick Garland was “roasted” on Capitol Hill. So what?
So now his goose is cooked.
But none of them are wearing masks.
I don’t care about this. Nothing has EVER come of Republican showboating over anything in Congress. They speechify, they question, they make cutting remarks, but any real action? No. Makes for great soundbites, I suppose, for the next election, but that’s it. And I don’t intend to vote for any Republican ever again with one exception–DeSantis for governor after my family and I move to Florida. And that’s it.
Democrat election fraud, a disingenuous media, and a crazier-than-an-outhouse-rat-radical-leftist-academia ensures that Republicans never get both a majority in the House and a super majority in the Senate in order to impeach those who are corrupters of our government so we can fix this nation and move on to realize our true potential.
They had both houses when Trump first took office. What did they do with it?
Not much, you’re right. But they never had a supermajority in the Senate unfortunately. I would like to see that.
SD is saying:
These critters are doing what they are supposed to do.
Raise questions in hearings and make noise.
They aren’t gonna DO anything.
So we need to get over it and get real.
We need to do what we are supposed to do.
Make noise and take action.
We are the ones that must DO something.
We need to be real and get moving locally.
Thats what I got out of the post.
GREAT HEARING
One key point from Garland was that he claims his memo rests on reported threats of violence. Reported how? Not sure if any senator went down that path, but I suppose they have their whole speech laid out and aren’t too dynamic. Confidential, individual reports to the FBI or DOJ? Or as reported in various news outlets? Where have we seen this scheme before? News outlets make reports prompted by government officials or because the reporters are former/current operatives. DOJ/FBI then uses those reports as evidence to initiate activity.

Fairfax mom says Feds came to local school board meeting | Power Line (powerlineblog.com)
Sen Grassley seems to be the only one to finally ask Garland to consider retracting this memo and federal involvement in a local matter.
The Ohio School Board has also cut ties with the National.
Sad to say but these show hearings mean nothing all show no action. It is going to take the shot heard round the world to happen again………… the DC Elites are bought and paid for by the “MEGADONORS” you and I do not matter we dont write a big enough check………… we are very close to losing our nation to the communist.
IT IS TIME TO REINSTITUTE OUR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE !!
Every bit of this is pure evil. We are not fighting democrats, we are fighting satan. The devil is real and he’s in our face and he is the democrat party.
I was very pleased and encouraged to see or nation and its laws being strenuously supported by these Senators. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for doing the most important job you probably will ever have. These actions catalyze the efforts of many and remind the people that they are not alone and have work themselves to do. Good stuff.
Thanks Sundance! I was scouring the internet yesterday to find these very video clips.
I concur wholeheartedly with your statement, “If you allow your behavior and expectations to change based on fear, those who count on fear to manipulate the outcome will win.”
That is true across a wide range of issues, including the Panic!demic.
What a sham. Cornyn voted to confirm Garland. Sickening…
