Hollywood actor, producer and political activist Alec Baldwin is a man of notoriously intemperate disposition. Prone to angry outbursts and uncontrollable anger, the unstable Mr. Baldwin is well known for physical and verbal violence against people he dislikes {link} even his own children.
Yesterday the 68-year-old Baldwin shot two people on a film set in New Mexico killing one and seriously injuring another. Mr Baldwin killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. The unstable actor claims he shot them accidentally and has reportedly said he is sorry to the husband of the deceased woman he killed.
Vanity Fair – […] “Details surrounding the shooting, which occurred while a scene was being filmed, are still forthcoming. “Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Bonanza Creek Ranch movie set of the Western Rust, October 21, 2021, when an 911 caller reported a shooting on the set,” investigators confirmed to Vanity Fair Friday. According to Sheriff’s department spokesman Juan R. Rios, “Mr. Baldwin met with investigators and provided a statement and answered their questions. He then left our agency. No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.” Baldwin’s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday. (read more)
Mr. Baldwin’s wife, Hilairia Baldwin, was recently caught pretending to be life-long Latina in order to enhance her woke credentials amid the far-leftists in their political social circle. She apologized for her lies, manipulation and years of cultural appropriation. Together they have many children and live an affluent lifestyle enabled by a community of supporters who identify with violent sensibilities as an outcome of tribal similarity.
Prayers to the victims and their families. Other than that, I hope they fry the b*stard who did it.
“the unstable Mr. Baldwin is well known for physical and verbal violence”
The wording of this sentence is very badly chosen. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “VERBAL VIOLENCE”. Hurting someone’s feelings by yelling at them is not violence though it may be boorish or frightening. This is a slippery slope the left uses to shut down free speech by corrupting the language.
Baldwin has verbally threatened physical harm to reporters and others; on many occasions……..that’s verbal violence in my book..
Don’t imagine the investigative agency was provided a copy of any video of the shooting and whatever preceded it
And it fits the definition if you google it:
Verbal violence, most often also labeled verbal abuse, is a common variety of violence, which encompasses a relatively large spectrum of behaviors, including accusing, undermining, verbal threatening, ordering, trivializing, constant forgetting, silencing, blaming, name-calling, overtly criticizing.
You clearly never been on the end of someone like that there’s all kinds of violence including verbal verbal violence does damage that last forever
Sorry, while abusive language can do damage it is NOT violence.
that is just your opinion; others think differently. Quit arguing.
Calif Penal Code Sec 422(a0: 422. (a) Any person who willfully threatens to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, with the specific intent that the statement, made verbally, in writing, or by means of an electronic communication device, is to be taken as a threat, even if there is no intent of actually carrying it out, which, on its face and under the circumstances in which it is made, is so unequivocal, unconditional, immediate, and specific as to convey to the person threatened, a gravity of purpose and an immediate prospect of execution of the threat, and thereby causes that person reasonably to be in sustained fear for his or her own safety or for his or her immediate family’s safety, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail not to exceed one year, or by imprisonment in the state prison.
Not sure you are making the proper distinction between language and acts, but as you say, people think quite differently. So your opinion is an opinion, but you see my opinion as “arguing”. Interesting.
I am from the generation who often quoted “sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me”. We all know that words can and do cause emotionally injury and damage. In the world we now find ourselves of SJW and SJ speech, many may call it violence. It is the insidious creep of language distortion. It exists, but most fail to see it, merely parrot. I am oldschool.
That’s why it’s called abusive
Yes it is violence..Violence doesn’t have to be physical..Again as the person said above.evidently you have never experienced..verbal violence..When someone threatens you and uses words that puts the fear of being physically assaulted..that is verbal violence..So stop with the..it isn’t verbal violence..He is talking doing something violent..yes it is verbal..
“Violence” may used as a euphemism or abbreviation of “physical violence.” There is no substitute for characterizing physical violence for exactly what it is, physical violence.
Are there over forms of violence? Certainly.
Like when Rammstein does Elvis.
1. behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something
Example: “violence erupted in protest marches”
2. strength of emotion or of a destructive natural force
Violence
noun
Revised “Websters New World Dictionary” 1979:
violent (adj): Acting with or having great physical force.
violence (n): physical force used so as to injure.
I often refer to my old textbooks for language and most importantly for medical references. Any citing of “googled” information isn’t worth the paper it’s not printed on.
Exactly, Carolyn. Threats of violence can cause terror in someone, especially if those threats are made by an individual who has actually inflicted physical harm to the person being threatened.
Yes, the damage and resulting PTSD can last forever.
Totally agree. Thank you for calling it.
“Verbal violence”, if sufficiently threatening, is classed as an assault. Not assault with battery, just simple assault.
I think he’s using the Left’s own terminology on themselves. It’s called irony or sarcasm. They change the meaning of words or invent new words. We can play that game, too.
Don’t forget about his abuse of his daughter 14 years ago.
https://www.foxnews.com/story/411-caught-on-tape-alec-baldwin-calls-daughter-a-rude-thoughtless-pig
It can be verbal violence..The fear he put into his daughter was downright scary!…She has probably heard it all her life. This is not unusual behavior for this man..He needed mental help for a long time…Now no one knows at this point how this happens..Why would he even be pointing a gun at the two he shot is what I want to know..
There should be more accountability about malicious speech. Also, we should be confronting menacing speech.
In dumbing down the national narrative, Demorroidhs are systemically dumbing down national discourse so they can continue the unrelenting dismantling of our society by rhetorical dissembling and fabulist hyperbole.
None of this is done in good faith. All of it is conducted with malice. It is an unprecedented form of menacing a society, and has now morphed into sexualizing children in the guise of educating them and more heinously, monetizing the molestation of childhood for professional and career advancement and financial gain.
Absolutely cretinous, depraved behavior, malicious and menacing. In the sense that innocent children are willfully and predatorily violated by institutional fiat commending these calculated exploitative behaviors, this violation is by any reasonable measure, evidence of acts of violence against children.
The physicality is nebulous. The violence is not. The malice is not. The menacing and exploitation is not.
Malicious speech.
That might be more descriptive.
Threats of violence from someone who has rage issues can be terrifying to the point of being immobilizing
Here the definition:
Verbal violence, most often also labeled verbal abuse, is a common variety of violence, which encompasses a relatively large spectrum of behaviors, including accusing, undermining, verbal threatening, ordering, trivializing, constant forgetting, silencing, blaming, name-calling, overtly criticizing.
Absolutely wrong.
Not talking hurt feelings.
Talking about people in positions of trust or authority verbally traumatizing; verbally terrorizing; verbally threatening and intimidating others.
Psychological abuse – get informed.
.
I can’t figure out how this could have happened. Did he think he was testing the prop or something? And just shot TWICE without looking where he was shooting? How can anyone be such a blithering idiot.
Not that he’s not an idiot, but he might just have shot in the wrong direction.
WHY WAS THERE LIVE AMMUNITION AT ALL?
It is reported Baldwin was asking the same question. Guns don’t kill people. It is the person who pulls the trigger that kills. At the end of the day, he is responsible for not following basic gun safety even if it was a prop gun. Who pulls the trigger on a gun without knowing if it is loaded? Involuntary manslaughter.
The gun was probably meant to have a blank
? Blanks still kill. Gun are meant to be used with care and respect. Obviously he lacked both.
Who points a gun at people not “acting” in the scene?
When the director is standing behind the camera and the director tells someone to shoot at the camera and he says,” Like this?”.
The question is who put live bullets in the gun.
Finger prints?
Then he should have shot the camera……did that happen also?
Yep. Cut and dried, regardless of who else did what. He held it. He pulled the trigger.
It’s an unforgiving thing. Tragic in every way.
I have no interest in defending that pig, but news articles suggest “live” is a term the industry uses when a gun is loaded with some material such as a blank ready for filming.
https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/entertainment/story/2021-10-22/alec-baldwin-rust-camera-crew-walked-off-set
Cocaine pig
indeed, why was there live ammunition –
aside from Mr. Baldwin, he could be the sweetest angel kind of guy and this could have happened in the course of a scene – IF the proper protocol is not followed –
as well as being part of the cast, he is also a producer though I see on imdb he is not listed as an executive producer –
I would like to mention that from what I have read, he was born in April 1958, so he is 63 years old, not 68 – unless he actually IS 68 and has been fudging his age? I happened to look up his age before and remembered that he seemed older than his actual age but if he IS 63, then I think that should be noted . . . in the interest of not being labeled as “fake news” because those who want to discredit any honest conversation would jump on errors.
yes, he does seem to have “anger issues” –
I remember my Grandmother and I watching the tv news from LA when he was so incensed with a reporter and he went outside to the reporter parked in front of the house (Kim had just come home I think after their baby girl Ireland was born). He started spraying the reporter’s car window with something. We were wondering if Kim was in the house resting and saw him do that live, as we were.
It was like they were poking a bear or a badger – then they got the footage – what a predatory bunch they are –
and we also sympathized with him over his horrible messages on that voice mail – maybe we were the only ones to sympathize but we knew a family member who was put through ridiculous gauntlets about making phone calls in a similar situation.
Okay, yes, I love President Trump and I haven’t been a big fan of Mr. Baldwin’s impersonation of Mr. Trump anymore than those ridiculous covers on “Time” magazine . . . but in the interest of free speech, I say go for it and let the chips fall where they may. Alec Baldwin’s impersonations of Donald Trump have not been my biggest worry.
Will we actually see incontrovertible evidence that Mr. Baldwin was doing something that constituted reckless behavior, waving the gun around and being stupid in some way which resulted in the tragedy?
Maybe we should find out if an ex-FBI agent had the job of being the armorer/safety check person.
I agree with you on some points, however, you just disqualified yourself from serving on the jury, and besides the facts, the Prick would be found exonerated , because of his Communist connections.
DUH ? Motive is the Key to this” accident “or murder. There may be a triangle connection to this situation. Live ammunition tells me that someone wanted her dead to shut her up, or to set up the prick Baldwin.. Live ammunition is used for killing on target practice only. No accident here. Murder, one way or another.
He’s a Democrat, that’s how
He fired once. Bullet went right thru first person. Hit second. Real question is why was gun loaded with real ammo? On movie sets they almost never give actors guns with real bullets
someone said 4 shots? still waiting for details.
I have experience on movie sets. When real firearms are being used there is someone on set and specifically there to make sure the gun is unloaded, and loaded (when only to be used) WITH BLANKS. How real bullets were placed in the firearm is very unusual to say the least, and against all procedure.
Second if he did fire 4 shots then he should have realized after the first it was NOT blanks. Why, the kick of course. Blanks do NOT have the ability to cause the KICK as a real bullet. THE barrel makes a bullet work. Drop a bullet in a fire and pops pretty much like a firecracker. Paper wads don’t have the ability to provide the resistance like a bullet in my opinion.
Watch actors, when they fire guns at bad guys and empty a magazine, does the gun really rise, or does it pretty much stay steady in the shooters hands.
If he was in a scene and hit the DP and the director, I can only guess it was a into the camera lens type of shot. The DP was operating the camera ( instead of the A camera op, which pisses us of ;)), and director was standing behind watching the monitor to approve the Take.
Four shots, I would think he would have known by the reaction of the firearm it was not blanks.
Need more info for sure.
Condolences to the crew and family.
A projectile could have been stuck in a cylinder instead of the barrel. If four shots were fired, the first three could have been blanks, but the fourth could have been a blank with the projectile stuck in front of it.
That’s why they are supposed to check that the barrel and cylinders in a revolver are clear beforehand.
“Blanks do NOT have the ability to cause the KICK as a real bullet.”
Noted firearms authority Jeff Cooper wrote about an investigation he conducted into an apparent suicide. The man used a blank cartridge in an M-1 Garand rifle to blow off the top of his head.
Expanding gasses can do impressive work if properly contained and directed.
I imagine used copies of “To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth” are still in circulation so that you can confirm the truth of what I write.
Dead men tell no tales.
Other articles have indicated that only one bullet was fired, passing through and killing Hutchins then striking and injuring Souza. That does not sound like a blank gun. So I am left trying to figure out, why is a “prop gun” on a movie set capable of discharging a bullet like this? Sound more like this was a real gun and not a “prop gun”.
Guns that are fired on sets are usually real guns. Semi-automatics are modified to work the actions with blanks, but revolvers are generally unmodified.
A “prop gun” is supposed to be something that looks like a gun, can be carried for looks, thrown at someone, to hit someone with, etc. While it might have some functionality (you could fake load it, work a simulated action), it can’t fire real bullets or in most cases blanks.
The article said it was a live SINGLE round. Therefore I would think the single shot somehow hit both people.
Just read an update that the bullet went through her and into the clavicle of the man who survived. Sounds like a powerful gun and fairly close range.
Alec will only be remembered for this.
I’ll remember him for that movie called “The Edge”.
I really liked the part where a bear got ahold of Baldwin.
It was a perfect role for him. Totally believable.
Great bear action.
Who was vaxed? Who wasn’t?
Another Covid statistic. Ha, classic.
Precious.
test
The Alex test failed.
On a smaller note, I noticed in a few different photos and videos of Alec Baldwin -in different characters- holding and waving “prop” guns with his finger on the trigger. That’s one of the first rules of gun safety: never put your finger on the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
He obviously doesn’t understand gun safety. I can’t imagine that he’s ever taken a gun safety course.
Especially, since according to an article I read, this was the FOURTH incident of “accidental” firing of said gun, the other three times over the weekend, I think. People on the set complained and nothing was done and some were walking off the set in a dispute regarding their hotels not being paid as stated and unsafe conditions or somthing.
I am very glad that you included “verbal” in describing violence. So often people think a person must be struck physically for it to be called violence. In the psychology of Domestic Violence it is a whole realm of abusive behavior motivated by power and control.
Violence is physical. Abuse can be verbal. Violence is a physical act resulting in bodily hard. You even back it up with your last sentence “whole realm of abusive behavior”.
It’s even in the dictionary definition. Not that those words can’t be changed on a whim these days. But still.
Yup, hence the old adage about sticks, stones breaking bones but names never hurting.
However, and perhaps it’s faded out over the decades, when I was young the names were followed by fists, bats, rocks, whatever. It was a rapid progression, essentially anything short of what happened here, use of a gun. However, until proven otherwise, I’ll presume the discharge, injury and fatality to be accidental, not purposeful and with malice.
I think we’ve seen enough verbal abuse to be able to include in the category of violence.
Words have definitions, and when we allow those definitions to change due to feelings or social norms we lose our language. We cannot fully function as a society if we do not speak the same language, or understand the words.
Abuse can be physical, or certainly verbal. Verbal abuse over a prolonged period can be horrific for someone who is unable to escape it for whatever reason…
…but WORDS are not violent. There may be verbal threats of violence, but until they are enacted, they do not yet constitute violence.
Definitely entitled to your opinion on that.
Glad for CTh and a platform where we can speak freely!
You may speak freely, but you’re not entitled to re-define the English language.
That you would suggest I’m entitled to my opinion on that is, frankly, condescending. 🙁
Yes, it’s abusive. Yes, it’s traumatic. Yes, it can do emotional harm!
HOWEVER, when the word, ‘violence,’ is used in phrases like, ‘psychological violence, emotional violence, verbal violence etc., these are instances of metaphoric use, not literal use. Metaphors are ‘imported’ from one realm of meaning for the purpose of adding force or strength to another realm of meaning.
Does that mean that psychological violence doesn’t exist? No! Actually, this phenomenon is very aptly described through the use of metaphor, and gains in clarity and strength PRECISELY BECAUSE THE LITERAL USE OF VIOLENCE STRICTLY DENOTES PHYSICAL HARM. If this were not the case, the word, violence, would be useless in describing the meaning of such things as emotional violence etc.
Lastly, in a court of law, physical violence is easy to identify and quantify. Psychological violence, on the other hand, is often in the eye of the beholder, and depends entirely on the emotional makeup of each individual.
This never happened to Roy Rogers’ many films. Come to think of it, never happened to Matt Dillon either.
Has it ever happened in the history of Hollyweird?
Brandon Lee.
In the Brandon Lee accident, the charge in the prop gun was indeed a blank, but the shell casing shattered and fragments were blown out like shrapnel.
I take it that is a no.
Partially correct, the fragments were from a dummy shell that had been fired. Gun master did not check and clean the gun. When the blank fired the casing fragments lodged in the barrel acted like a bullet.
They say it was improperly loaded blanks, but Brandon Lee was killed by a .44 caliber slug from a Smith and Wesson model 629 .44 Magnum revolver.
The ‘dummy cartridge’ used in a previous scene, was something improperly thrown together that still had the primer, but no powder. Firing the gun on that dummy, ignited the primer which pushed the bullet forward enough to enter the barrel.
When the blank was put in the gun (no one checked that barrel and cylinder were clear), the powder in the blank provided enough energy to push the trapped bullet through the barrel.
Think of it as a two-part bullet.
but he has his mask at the ready in the desert.
Very observant.
My 1st Question is: WHY WAS THERE A LOAD GUN WITH LIVE AMMO ON THE SET OF THIS PRODUCTION COMPANY?
Also, was there ANY safety BRIEFINGS TO INDIVIDUALS who were to handle guns and the crew so that NO ONE WOULD GET SHOT????
This is on “what his name” and the producers and NOT having a CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR ON-SIGHT !!!
Hollyweird MORONS!!!!!
According to news reports, the same gun had misfired a couple times previously. They suggest it was actually loaded with a blank, but what kind of blank can kill one and injure another?
Second shooter on the Grassy Knoll.
Baldwin is unstable and known to be abusive. Even Kim Bassinger the most easy going person couldn’t put up with his abuse. I remember the recording on the news of him talking to his daughter and calling her a “fat pig”…so sick of our 2nd Amendment rights being attacked over idiots like him.
Be interesting to find out if Baldwin was a gun owner— legal or otherwise—given his criminal past.
I recall seeing somewhere that he had a carry permit in NYC.
That Baldwin had a carry permit issued by the NYPD Commissioner would be my Exhibit 1 to the Supreme Court next week! LOL. That alone would destroy New York’s defense of the Sullivan Law!
Love the headline, factual and non judgmental, a far cry from every other headline implying a horrible accident with zero evidence calling it a prop gun with no eyewitnesses. We shall see.
The answer to this saga will be found in whether or not he was drug tested.
R.I.P. Victim.
Why, WHY?, is this demented thing with a history of violence out roaming the streets?
Yeah, I know why, and am outraged by the reason.
Why would live ammo be on set with a prop gun?? Only two reasons for this. The first being someone is truly stupid as can be, just incompetent, or the second option is that someone who would have a true hatred for the Baldwin individual set him up and placed live ammo in a set gun that should have had blanks in it. I can not imagine any other option / excuse for this disaster. Hollywood gets it wrong again.
Or Baldwin put live rounds in the gun so he could “accidentally” kill someone, knowing he would get off due to his celebrity status.
That wouldn’t surprise me, at all. He’s always been a loose cannon!
It looks like a criminal negligence case is developing. The production crew walked off the set hours before shooting in row over conditions and were replaced ‘on the fly’ by locals. And workers feared for gun safety after ‘two misfires’ in the past few days.
Complaints from the production crew: (no surprises here):
I read that Baldwin’s company was producing the movie so at least liability in that regard.
Hollywood is being hit financially.
I can very very very well understand that some sets and PRoducers do this sort of thing. Must not have been a union set for sure. There are rules, The thing about enough sleep because of drive Time is an issue even in LA. IT is so big you get the 8 hours, however by the Time you DRIVE HOME get in BED and then have to Drive back you’re luck to get a few hours. I know this personally, and in LA people drive off roads and more because of this. Working in other States the rules change and PRoducers are totall AHOLE mostly. They don’t care, really, most don’t. Movies are very expensive to make, very. The actors make big bucks and the crews are pressured and don’t get residuals. They are BELOW THE LINE. Even the DP is below the Line.
He’s a cocaine addict, as is his wife. He’s been caught using it on set to the point where his makeup people have laughed that ‘he doesn’t need any more powder, for this shoot’. It’s been going on for 40 years. FORTY years.
He’s also known to berate and fire his crew constantly, even stooping as low as to scream racist insults at them, on set.
He’s a tampon of a man. And his days are done. I predict he’ll be gone before the end of the year- call me out, if wrong.
I hope you are correct, the entire Baldwin family is scum.
The cinematographer and the director are usually at the camera or just behind it. Why was Baldwin firing in their direction instead of stage right or stage left?
POV angle perhaps. We see it all the time in movies. Gun pointed at the camera to simulate what the victim would be seeing if someone pointed a gun at them. Could be from 50 feet away or right in one’s face as in the famous Dirty Harry scene “Go ahead. Make my day, punk”.
Even if he shot right into the lens (thinking it was in deed a blank round) a projectile that close could have caused the camera to shatter, sending debris into people right next to it.
But unless it’s the last scene in The Great Train Robbery or Goodfellas, it’s always slightly off camera.
Into the lens shot. POV from the bad guys perspective. And the director is not usually behind the camera. They are at VIDEO VILLAGE. Where they watch monitors. SomeTIME they want to be there, and the DP could be anywhere. A camera operator A for primary, but from reports they were shooting cheap so to speak and the DP did the lighting and operated perhaps, or they just wanted to do this shot which does happen . I am not familiar with this DP, but I quit working in LA years ago.
It’s been almost 30 years since I’ve been on a movie set, StoryTime. I’m not sure how they do it now. Back then, the director would sit a few feet behind the camera watching the video.
And btw- a ‘blank’ fires a paper projectile. Yes, it CAN kill someone at very, VERY close range in a sensitive spot (temple).
But, it CANNOT shoot through someone- it doesn’t even penetrate the skin. Alec Baldwin is the epitome of Hollywood- he is used to people kissing his ass and he expects it. And you’d BETTER do it. NOW! He’s ALEC BALDWIN, DAMNIT!
Brand Lee was also killed on a movie set when it was thought a blank was being fired.
I read that was an abdomen hit.
It was. The fragment lodged close to his spine and he died days later.
This article says there had been labor trouble for days, that the person who died protested conditions on the set, and the unionized crew walked off the set hours before the shooting.
https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/entertainment/story/2021-10-22/alec-baldwin-rust-camera-crew-walked-off-set
Now we get “the rest of the story”. Thank you.
Did the union labor workers leave real bullets to sabotage the non- union workers?
I am just guessing , but I have witnessed the police being called when union jobs are threatened.
I gave up pheasant hunting with a well educated Liberal friend years ago because he never paid attention to where his barrel was pointing. I would always try to stand clear of him when we were together. When I pointed it out to him once on one trip he got uppity and defensive like Liberals do. That was my last trip, I made excuses after that. He was also my direct supervisor and I have nothing to do with him anymore since I abruptly retired ( a tad early) shortly after a heated argument over wearing masks at our place of employment. Apparently I was being “selfish”.
Vice President Dick Cheney shot his attorney in the face while pheasant hunting.
Production crew walked off Alec Baldwin movie set hours before shooting in dispute over conditions and were replaced ‘on the fly’: Workers feared for gun safety after ‘TWO misfires’ days before Baldwin accidentally shot dead cinematographer
The workers had been complaining about the fact they had to stay overnight in Albuquerque – an hour’s drive from the set – and not Sante Fe because production wouldn’t pay for their hotels, according to sources cited by The Los Angeles Times and multiple social media posts by film and TV insiders.
When they turned up to set to clear their things on Thursday, they found they’d been replaced by locals. It begs the question of who those local workers were, what their training was and to what extent did they check the weapon before handing it to Baldwin, loaded with a live round.
Deadline also cites an unnamed source who said a gun had gone off ‘in a cabin’ while someone was holding it in a cabin. ‘A gun had two misfires in a closed cabin. They just fired loud pops – a person was just holding it in their hands and it went off,’ they said.
This is an article from dailymail no clue why link didn’t post…
Hmmm …. as a gun-literate owner, hard to picture that.
LOL guns don’t just GO OFF, this sounds like liberal nonsense. You have to either pull the trigger, or have the hammer pulled back, and maybe, maybe for some reason the hammer could have released. NOt likely though.
Now we know why liberals want gun control, they are so stupid they will shot themselves.
Perhaps the correct form of gun control is to prohibit DEMOCRATS from purchasing them!
Other website have reported the Hollywood union’s statement to the press. I noted with no surprise that the main point of that statement is, “We are not responsible”. Yet anther on the list of useless unions, collecting dues then running away at the first whiff of controversy.
Sorry, the unions in the professional film industry are not ‘USELESS” if it were not for the unions the conditions on film sets would be horrendous, ask me how I know. film work is very hard, very dangerous. I have worked every position in the camera dept. Grip to Key Grip (dept head), electrician to Gaffer (head Electrician). 2 camera asst. 1st camera asst. C to B to A camera operator. I have had to perform some very dangerous actions (myself at great risk), I have had to rig or choose not to rig things for action sequences that put actors or crew and their doubles etc in very dangerous postions.
Being on a movie set is comparable to War in a way.
Unions stopped the lunacy of the PRoducers who always want to save a buck.. The rules we have are there for a reason. Union dues in the industry are not cheap, this aint the teamsters.
People that work on professional movie productions and high end commercials are very well trained. It is NOT PARTY TIME.
And the new face of gun control is…I am a victim of gun violence Alec Baldwin.
I think Baldwin is a crazy and very nasty too,
I really hope President Trump can resist the temptation (and it will be great) to say ANYTHING about this.
The moment Trump says anything at all this thing will become politicised and from that point forward can’t fairly be judged – this is particularly important if Baldwin is IN THE WRONG TO A CRIMINAL DEGREE.
If he IS IN THE WRONG TO A CRIMINAL DEGREE – any politicisation of this issue (especially by Trump) will just turn the whole thing into a Left-Right thing.
We don’t want that.
I see; possibly President Trump’s fault…..no offense, but let’s be over that type of thinking.
And, the irony of it is that Baldwin is against the second amendment. He is getting his dose
of Karma now no matter what the circumstances.
Yup, the homicidal maniac has made a fortune glorifying gun violence.
The time for being the compassionate conservative is over. It’s that type of behavior that got us here. If Trump follows that line of thinking all we get is a fake investigation and still nothing happens. I’d rather he shed light on it and make Alecs life miserable. Let them rally around him. Who cares. They are stealing elections anyway.
We need to illuminate who these psychos are. That way we win elections due to the fact they don’t have that base meat voter to stack the fake votes in top of.
Gloves are off. Go get him PDJT.
I hope PDJT goes New York all over him… No one deserves it more… This slime has made a career out of dissing PDJT, one good turn deserves another.. IMO
Why was he pointing a gun (real or prop) at a cinematographer? He clearly violated one of the first rules of gun-handling taught to me by my Father – assume all guns are loaded.
Absolutely right poncedefreon!
My Father had two simple rules for handling firearms;
Rule Number One: Treat EVERY firearm as if it is loaded and ready to fire!
Rule Number Two: NEVER point a firearm at anything you do not intend to KILL!
Every “accidental” shooting I’ve ever heard or read about violated both of these two simple rules.
Shouldn’t somebody get a red flag restraining order against Mr Baldwin possessing or handling a firearm?
In reading this article about Brandon Lee being killed on a movie set, I have to wonder why this does not happen more often.
I do know after his death, it seems more obvious in movies that have safety in mind that a gun is not directly pointed at a person when fired, but the camera angle makes it look like the gun is pointed at them.
I never knew they used actually bullets with hollowed out cartridges for close-ups. In the case of Lee’s death, it was found a fragment of one of those cartridges was still in the barrel when another blank was fired at him. The blank dislodged the fragment with the force of a live round and killed him.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/brandon-lee-s-death-tragically-mirrored-in-alec-baldwin-s-devastating-prop-gun-incident/ar-AAPPRUy
I can’t believe if people were already complaining of conditions and walked off the set that there was much concern for safety in this instance.
A cartridge is the combination of case (the typically brass piece) that has a primer (the part that sets off the controlled detonation of the powder) installed in the base of the case, the case is filled with powder and the bullet (the projectile) is pressed and (sometimes) crimped into the the case.
A dummy round has an inert primer, stuck in the bottom of a real case, with a real bullet pressed and (sometimes) crimped into the case. – no powder. This cannot do anything and is 100% correct when you are showing guns being loaded or ammo being handled.
In the Brandon Lee case, the primer was live, detonated when the gun was fired (w/the not quite dummy rounds) and pushed the bullet (projectile) into the forcing cone of the barrel. When the blank was fired in the next scene, it effectively because a real cartridge.
One unconfirmed report says the “prop” gun (which is a REAL firearm supposedly loaded with blank rounds) was somehow loaded with one real round. That would explain why the woman was killed and a man injured (round went through woman then into man). No explanation yet who loaded the live round. Also no explanation as to why Baldwin violated several cardinal rules of handgun safety which he SHOULD have been briefed on, even if he supposedly relies on an expert firearms handler on the movie set. 1) always assume every gun is loaded 2) never point it at anything you aren’t willing to destroy 3) keep your finger OFF the trigger until you are ready to fire (guns don’t just “go off”) 4) be sure of your target and what is behind it. We know Baldwin is a loud-mouthed idiot, but how exactly this horrible tragedy went down remains to be seen. I fear that his wealth and celebrity will provide the conditions for elitist “justice.” Stay tuned.
I absolutely cannot confirm this GAB post:
“Alex Baldwin is a Deep State Operative.”
“Oddly enough, the woman that he just “Accidently” killed was a former Investigative Reporter from the Ukraine.”
“Hunter Biden was taking payoffs from officials out of the Ukraine while his dad was VP.”
“Think there’s a connection?”
The ‘Hunter Biden was taking payoffs’ part I can firmly believe.
Now, was this woman (killed by Baldwin) a former reporter?
I do not know, although this story does not pass the ‘smell test’.
Somehow, “kill two birds with one stone” comes to mind.
Sounds like bottom of the barrel BS.
This is a train wreck that I (sadly) can not stop reading about.
Baldwin is a loud mouth jerk who is fully at fault.
Reading all of this stuff about the crew and conditions, the union and the hotels, none of it is shocking.
What an incredible mess Hollywood is. They deserve Newsom and not a dime of support.
Imagine if you, no wealth, no friends in high places, accidentally discharged a fire arm. You would BE IN JAIL RIGHT NOW awaiting ARRAIGNMENT.
Also ignoring basic firearms safety such as always assuming the Weapon is loaded, WHY WOULD Baldwin aim a weapon at NON-ACTORS if this was a rehearsal?
Any alcohol or drug tests taken when Alec was under police detention?
Here’s the $64,000 question:
Why’s a “big shot celebrity actor” like Baldwin producing a B grade flick? You’d think he had have more pull than to get a measly $6 million budget. It’s starting to come out that there were a lot of problems with this production.
Because he’s a has-been, and probably needs every nickel he can get to maintain his estate.
His 30 Rock residuals have to be worth tens of millions of dollars. They have to. Probably more.
He’s an extremely good act0r. That being said, he’s so insufferable in his private life that he’s unbearable to watch.
This sounds like a Columbo plot to me. Who loaded the prop gun with live ammo? Did angry, mental case Baldwin plan this? Did he use this as an opportunity to “accidentally” shoot these people for some reason only known to his crazy self? Lt. Columbo and Suspicious Cat….well…remain suspicious.
A Soros DA! Incredible!
“Before any criminal homicide charges or otherwise are filed, if they are, law enforcement sources tell us there has to be a determination if a prop gun is considered a deadly weapon, Carmack-Altwies’ office told Deadline.”
Baldwin will get away with a parking ticket!
Are you kidding me? That’s insane. So just buy a prop gun, put live ammunition in it. and kill someone…not a problem…prop gun is not a deadly weapon. Just like that recent school shooting where the murderer is let out on bail because this is not a typical school shooter…ok…appoint more women and leftists to be judges and sheriffs…justice shall (not) be served. Oh, and since when is an automobile a deadly weapon? And a rope? So a lynching is not a murder because a rope is not a deadly weapon?
Well, there’s no such thing as a “PROP GUN” only real guns used a movie props! You can see where this is going Little Flower.
Though I dislike Alec Baldwin, from the details we know thus far this was an accident. The prop master/armorer seems to be the culpable party here.
However, if Mr. Baldwin knew how to handle a gun he might have known to check it for safety and not merely accept that the prop department had done their job properly.
Why the hell is he shooting the director and cinematographer? Are they actors in the rehearsal.
From the very sparse details, they were behind the camera filming the scene of Baldwin shooting the gun.
The pistol that shot the round that killed the woman is not a prop. It’s a weapon. There is something mighty fishy about how this tale is being presented. “Property” does not kill people. Pistols kill people. Alec effin Baldwin has been a loose cannon for a long time. He better be lawyered up the ying for the remainder of his natural life. Or, he could do the right thing and off himself. Be a man for change, you creep.
Dude pulled the trigger.
And now he can live with it.
Here is his lovely comments to his daughter.
Who does he think he is, Dick Cheney?
Uh, Mr. Baldwin?
Why was he pointing the gun at a cinematographer?
Trump rant that went wrong.
Gotta do time.
