For the past couple of weeks I have been attempting to draw attention to this segment from a June 23rd congressional hearing. Given the events of the last 24 hours, that specific segment gains a higher level of importance. {Direct Rumble Link} PLEASE WATCH:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mark Milley:
“Bagram is not necessary, tactically or operationally for what we are going to try to do here with Afghanistan. Consolidate on Kabul in defense of their government“.

Full Video Segment Below:
BACKGROUND: People have wondered how the Biden administration could get the collapse of Afghanistan so horribly wrong and botched completely the withdrawal of U.S. forces. To that point there is a little known Question and Answer session by Colorado Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO, CD05) that deserves some attention.
On June 23rd, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley testified in front of the House Armed Services Committee about their budget requests. Rep Doug Lamborn took this opportunity, he only had 4 minutes, to ask some very specific questions about Afghanistan and his concerns for early reports of the Taliban surging back into control.
Lamborn asked about the hazard of closing Bagram AFB given the tenuous nature of reliance on one airport in Kabul. Lamborn also asked about the evacuation of U.S-Afghan allies and the risk to women and girls if the Taliban were successful.
What Def Sec Austin and General Milley said in response totally explains why the White House was blind-sided by the Taliban. [WATCH Video at 01:06:56, Prompted]
Given the nature of what has happened in Afghanistan, those totally wrong estimations of the situation in the region should be enough to see both Secretary Austin and General Milley fired. At the very least, reliance on this inept and totally wrong outlook explains why the Biden administration had no idea what was about to happen.
Congressman Doug Lamborn’s questioning was directly on point, and in hindsight, stunningly prescient. Great job by Lamborn!
Hopefully, Austin was wrong when he said that any defense of women and girls in Afghanistan will be contingent upon the U.S. embassy in Kabul. The U.S. embassy in Kabul is no longer there, the Taliban have it.

Milley is still employed, still getting a salary, will have a hefty pension and appears at this point not to care.
Milley, Austin, Biden et al = INCOMPETENCE!
Incompetent means they were incapable and unprepared to foresee it or to stop it.
Treasonous means they were aware that their incompetence served the enemy’s purpose..
I vote for treasonous.
Willful incompetence =Treasonous
Just My two cents
It was NOT incompetence! This was all predicted, planned for, and “perfectly executed” by people who HATE this country and everything for which it stands! To give them the excuse of being incompetent is NOT acceptable to the families of those killed today! This was TREASON, pure and simple and those who orchestrated it should be appropriately charged AND punished!
AMEN Sister!!! AMEN!!!
And AMEN, again! Just like with the Congressional Republicon leadership, stupidity, cowardice and greed have been used, for YEARS to excuse away what has been INTENTIONAL behavior.
Once?,..Happenstance.
Twice? Coincidence.
But THIRD time, its enemy action.
We are WAY past the “third time”, either with the complicit Congressional Republicons, OR with this Vinderman brigade of conmunist infiltrators ‘leading’ our military.
.
Yes. The incompetents were used by the choreographers of this mess as useful tools.
Talking with some guys today in SpecOps. One of them actually is an Afghan national employed by our military, as are several of his family. Was very surprised to hear him agree with my opinion regarding taking in so many “refugees”. Extended family members of SIV persons are not reliable.
I also got some insight from them about the situation regarding the equipment. Because for so long not that much was going on, equipment was staged for use by various units moving in and out and around. Also the equipment would be moved around. Also warehouses full of stuff that no one even has been in in a couple of years. Many unopened barrels of rifles. Trucks. Etc.
Much easier to leave equipment in place, or move it where needed in Afghanistan, than to have it brought in and out with various units. But this caused the problem that no commanders on the ground ever had “ownership” or inventory responsibility for this equipment.
And no one from Milley on down in the Pentagon gave a thought to this issue.
Bingo… i bet they are all getting kickbacks from China and the CIA.
They just want you to think it is all because of Joe’s incompetence.
It is American failure by design.
Lara Logan said that the outcome we’re seeing IS the outcome that the REAL people with power want.
I believe her.
grossly incompetent
he’s waiting for his “book deal”…
They’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
No. No they’re not
Banana Republic is fitting
It’s a curious thing to watch the elites praise themselves for performing a job that they are completely incapable of.
And probably get a lucrative book and Netflix movie deal to sweeten his income.
And on his way to marry his high school sweetheart ?
Why should he care. His orders came from Biden’s puppet masters. He complied defending Congress and their pursuit in restoring graft with a 3.5 Trillion budget.
When Trillions at state, what’s a few dead Marines and thousands of civilians trapped in a third world crap hole.
Millie needs to be tried for treason, deriliction of duty and others. First the interference and threats during the 2020 election and now a catastrophic turnover of hardware and injection of unvetted refugees with some % enemies over easily foreseeable consequences.
Milley is SO stupid, someone would be putting him out of his misery…
Stupid?
No.
Not on our side?
Yes.
One of President Xi’s best generals. /s
And I thought no one was crazier than Alex Jones.
yep, and who in their right mind chooses a date close to Sept. 11 to pull troops out of Afghanistan? That alone tells you this wasn’t a well thought out plan.
It may have well thought out but not in the way we thought it would be..
Oh, I disagree, this was a very well thought out plan.
Unfortunately, Definitely it Is NOT American First.
I heard another military brass (hack) say that the other day. As a non military man, I ask what is the harm of keeping OUR airbase, JUST IN CASE??????? These people spend all their time thinking about this stuff. JV team, for sure. Should be stripped of command, and fired!
He could be right depending on what they were “trying to do here”
Maybe we should see what the General’s bank account looks like and if he’s received any large “contributions” from the CCP.
Not until he gets his book deal.
In the works, I’m sure.
It seems they are planning on controlling Afghanistan by basing over the horizon forces in surrounding countries. With the intent of shortening the legs. The CCP seems to have a land bridge to Afghanistan. And, according to their own plans, they are not concerned about women and children.
So from the standpoint of drug production within Afghanistan and the apparent lack of humanitarian concerns. The surrounding government seem to have the opportunity to make money.
Bagram was not important to what they wanted to do in Afghanistan. We certainly found out the reason.
Top men. The very best.
Thats a scary thought.
Just from the words, only military value was considered, not civilian evacuation. not future value as a “listening post”, not a long-term asset to thwart Russia and China in Central Asia.
Gen. Milley made his decisions with blinders on. And there was no one, NO ONE, looking to the broader advantage.
The decision was political, or they gave it up because the Taliban demanded them to and they capitulated –
F. William Engdahl also puts the blame on Zalmay Khalilzad:
The Afghanistan Debacle, Zalmay Khalilzad and The Great Reset
https://www.williamengdahl.com/englishNEO19August2021.php
Will the committee reconvene and haul Milley in?
The Rats will not and you know the Republicans have no balls.
They sent a semi-sternly worded tweet today –
They are praying about it.
Careful there little flower 481. You don’t want to be banned. At least you didn’t mention 30 Pence and Franklin Graham.
Don’t mock God.
And a sternly worded letter will be coming soon…followed by an appearance on Hannity to discuss how VERY upset they all are about the events of today! “VERY upset, Sean…do you hear me? I am VERY upset!”
Grennell ~> What Senate? Which Senator? Who there, at this point, it is on the side of righteousness?
Hahaha
“Bagram is not necessary, tactically or operationally for what we are going to try to do here with Afghanistan”
You know damned well that holding Bagram is intrinsic to ensuring security in the region via timely air support.
General Milley, what the heck are you smoking?
I am inclined to believe that Hunter Biden would soon be beating down your door for some of that “stuff”.
YES!!!!!!!!
Brutal!
Dang, wish I knew what movie that is.
Really!? Try Private Ryan.
If this horror was planned and the results intended, Bagram would not only been unnecessary, it would have been a problem.
Milley threatened the sitting President, DJT, and insubordinately stated Trump’s orders would not be followed during the stolen election aftermath. A Dem/Deep State toady.
And Demonic Nazi Nancy wants the COMMUNICATIONS OF PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP and some of his supporters regarding the FBI instigated J6 “Insurrection”?
How about SOMEONE accidentally on purpose releasing the TRANSCRIPTS OF THE CALL(S?) and COMMUNICATIONS between Nazi Nancy and Nilli Vanilli Milley?
AD REM : Can you get a copy of the 18th Pentagon briefing. Milley throws Miller under the bus saying he approved/agreed/ closing Bagram.
I noted at the time as that being the moment of blame assignment that would come if attacked.
In Gen Miller defense I suspect he said if Biden orders me to keep Kabul open and not Bagram I can do it. I don’t think he signed off on the closure.
Ad Rem is now an on call researcher????
It’s been a very strange day.
Copy past error…on that attribute. Someone got it to me though…below…
I’m gonna need a raise…..
yuge embarrassed face
And a staff to manage.
Thank YOU…SD and all the staff, volunteer or not, are well appreciated by the long time denizens here…Thank you again
found it
29:17 . Nothing said has me at ALL convinced Miller was responsible for the decision to keep troops at 2500 and close an important air base. He was told what airbase they were going to keep and then he was responsible for carrying out that mission. The mission said numerous times by Pentagon, POTUS, and Psaki was to keep the Kabul airport open. CENTCOM does not define the mission.
According to Lara Logan, Miller objected but was overruled.
After all the Perfumed Princes know better than the boots on the ground/s.
I believe Lara Logan. Millie is nothing but another COG in the DEEP STATE WHEEL.
Thanks, that’s a good additional piece of info. Someone being scapegoated?
Oh, and the whole thing was Ad Rem was a good chuckle, so thanks for that too.
(Humor is hard today…)
We send traitors to lead our troops, there can be no surprise when they set them up like fish in a barrel. These traitors must be brought to justice.
Lol. Good one.
-[health status update : still alive, not sick, feeling great.]
Kleen, I screenshot and added “I’m woke and I’m proud” and sent it out, thanks for posting that.
The left can’t stand when we make fun of them, so this hurts their ego bigly.
OMG. Eye bleach, stat!!!!
I wish my opinion of Milley was this good.
Sorta reminds me of a cross between Truman Capote and John Goodman with a touch of Jabba the Hut.
divine?
When will we wake up to understand that their agenda is not a strengthen AMERICA agenda?
They are neither “stupid” nor “incompetent.” They play for the other side.
With the ONE exception of “sticking to the TIMETABLE for the afghanistan withdrawal, everything Bidenites have done has shown them to be “the Un-Trump administration”.
PDJT was “America First”, where every foreign or domestic policy was predicated on what is best for America and Americans.
So, the Bidenites are deliberately doing the OPPOSITE.
Afghanistan ‘withdrawal’ (rout, clusterf*ck,..?) is no different.
Before you can change it you have to find it.
Good luck with that!
Woah….you had me on the floor with that one!
Most of these analysts are nothing but Academics who have no real world experience. These 20 something genius’s straight out of college are we all depend on no matter what Feilds they studied.
If you have not gained any real life lessons, then don’t tell us older folks how life works!
Me to my son years ago… “I forgot, your 16 and I’m only 40 years old”.
I can vouch for that. Frm intel analyst here. The agencies just want to hire direct from the Ivy leagues: kids born with silver spoons in their mouths, never wrote out a rent check, never even balanced a checkbook, never paid any bills.
The Intel agencies snatch these kids up and give them the responsibility to monitor the economy of a small country for the US govt, relying on them to provide warning to policymakers in the executive and legislative branches.
They do the same for military analysts: in the old days, they used to recruit those with real life military experience, the ones who served 20 years in military, seen a conflict or two, those who demonstrated leadership. Now they hire the academics who theorize about war and how to win, but have never so much as picked up a rifle.
Working with these elite, academic, entitled types on the fast track to mgmt positions made me weep for my country. (This was in 2002). These types are now mid to upper mgmt, counting down the days to retirement. That’s all they care about: our national security was just a job to them, never a sacred trust.
We are now reaping the whirlwind……
Wow, and I thought it was bad how the young, PC teachers were hired while schools got rid of the older, trad teachers….at least, there, it’s only individual minds they’re screwing up… not entire countries…(no, wait, let me rethink that…)
Excellent comment by Eric Prince on the phone to the warroom this morning.
He called it CosPlay Leadership.
Joe Biden and Jen Psaki Attack Erik Prince and Blackwater for Not Rescuing Stranded Civilians for Free After Their Botched Withdrawal – Prince Reminds Biden of the Time He Saved His Life
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/08/joe-biden-jen-psaki-attack-erik-prince-blackwater-not-rescuing-stranded-civilians-free-botched-withdrawal-prince-reminds-biden-time-saved-life/
Defense contractors are doing the same thing.
To me this is not incompetence it seems purposeful.
China and Obama’s purpose is to destroy the USA’s prestige around the globe.
.
Sorry but this is just the start.
.
We are on the cusp of the darkest days our country has ever faced BUT we will draw closer to the Lord.
Wonder how big Milleys cut is off the sale of the weapons left on the black market?
Yep. And don’t forget 10% to the big guy too.
The weaponry was part of the deal they made with the Taliban.
It IS purposeful. No doubt.
No they won’t. Hope porn.
Nope, they have no shame. There are 3 things they care about: 1. The golden key to The Club; lining their pockets; and the job after retirement.
Miley – said that quote you posted, very fast and deceptively, as if his job was to reassure people as he dismisses their correct curiousity.
It wasn’t explaining tactical issues to a congressman. It was pusshing them off the scent.
The current view is that of massive ineptitude and failure.
Or, behind the scenes things are falling into place to finalize the collapse of the last bastion of freedom in the world.
Bagrham air base has been discussed over and over today on Bongino, Bannon, and John Fredericks. The hosts and the guests could not say one good thing about abandoning Bagrham and especially the way it was done.
One person said that even the electricity was turned off.
Kurt Schlichter wanted to know who all among the brass bothered to quit today.
No one.
They would have to be fired.
And who is there to do that?
Of course they couldn’t, even a child could figure out that you needed to keep your MAIN AIRBASE.
Pure class.
True.
Beats the hell out of “All this for a damn flag!”
The Pentagon is neither tactically competent nor operational sane.
Someone should have fixed the ventilation and water supply quite some time ago.
Seems the tactics at the Pentagram are primarily interested in finding promotions for “promising” Officers.
And then the longer term strategy is finding cushy consulting jobs with Defense contractors after retiring.
You forgot about a RAPID, RADICAL change to WOKE policies, and you shouldn’t forget that.
Just as Obummer purged the officer ranks, these policies are designed and intended to purge the lower ranks, noncoms and enlistees, and replace them with brainwashed thugs; today they follow orders to skip,..er march under a Pride flag,..tomorow they follow orders to participate in airlifting illegals around the country,..next week they follow orders to shoot unarmed civilians, who are protesting Covid b.s. and illigitimate elections.
I did not forget about those things.
Disagree with me if you must, but those efforts were only that much easier and quicker to come to fruition precisely because of the relative lack of principled men and women in the services compared to past generations.
.
The guys in our (actually excellent) tactical forces who I’ve talked with this week are in agony and would agree with you.
“Hopefully Austin was wrong when he said that any defense of women and girls in Afghanistan will be contingent upon the U.S. embassy in Kabul. The U.S. embassy in Kabul is no longer there, the Taliban have it.”
How would an embassy in Kabul have protected women and girls in Kandahar, Herat, and Jalalabad? Would the strongly worded letters condemning sexual enslavement and summary execution for infidelity have meant more coming from Kabul than from Kansas City?
Secretary Austin spoke as if it is still the 1950s, when the US had geopolitical moral authority and a respected military. Neither of those things are currently true, and I suspect Secretary Austin- a non-entity in terms of military strategy but a cagey political operative- had to know this. It was empty rhetoric then, and hollow now.
Secretary Austin is always wrong; he is almost certainly wrong in this case as well, but not in the way we would like. The US embassy in Kabul would have done nothing to protect the women and girls of Afghanistan, and now the point is moot.
Ever since we have been there, the brass told the troops to turn a blind eye to the abuse of women, girls and boys by “Our Partners in Peace” in the Afghan Army.
.
Yes. The women in burqas thing was propaganda during the Bush and Obama administrations to get lefties on board with war. And, of course, the feminists don’t giveash about the boy-rape culture, so it wasn’t useful to mention, and our troops were ordered to not notice.
Who gave material support to these terrorists ?
someone in the DOD had to have given it to either the WH to pass along to the terrorist or the DOD or the Clowns In Action gave the hit list to the terrorist. Very few agencies had all the information collected via biometric systems.
Last time I checked it is a serious crime that people in this country have been put in prison for decades for giving material support to terrorist.
From even before he was installed on Jan 20, he was hell-bent on dismantling everything Trump, with not so much as an iota of consideration of the consequences. If it had Trump’s name on it, it had to go.
Ergo, cancel the May 1 withdrawal, set it up for 9/11 (later changed to 8/31), and wait for the accolades. And when it all went south, his only concern is “why did they do that to me?” “They” being everyone else. As anyone could see/hear in his speech, he made it about himself from the get-go.
But back in the recesses of his reptilian mind, he knows he is to blame for today’s catastrophe. Since his whole government career has been one of failure or nothingness, followed immediately by excuse-making, he has zero capacity or inclination to take the blame himself. We’ve seen it all before.
They’re just desperate to find something, anything, to pin on PDJT.
As we’ve seen over the past several years, they never actually find anything. They just invent the “narrative” and off they go.
Something’s been telling me that I need to start manufacturing very sturdy “Pikes” cause we’re gonna need em’.
NAAH…heads only weigh about 13 pounds…unless you intend to do it the Roman way by buggering them alive and letting them die over several days
Does anyone see the similarly of General Milley to Rambo’s “Last Stand” and Sheriff Will Tiesel?
Brian Dennehy had a stolen valor issue, but at least came clean and apologized for it. Hopefully, Milley will do the honorable thing too…..and resign.
Truly heartbreaking that our democrat heads of state have been so narcissistic. This performance by Biteme was Shakespearean in its dissembling and insincerity.
He wasn’t lying. Bagram was not necessary for Deep State creation of catastrophe.
Might still be on the table for negotiating with a Domestic White Terrorists enclave. /s
As my beloved maternal Grandma Gladys used to say “Sue the bastards!” And that’s what every family who has lost a loved one, has a loved one still behind enemy lines or a loved one injured (because the Taliban is our enemy folks) should be finding an attorney right now and lining up a class action lawsuit against all of these DC scum suckers.. Every damn last one of them.
Sue them into poverty and destitution.
Seems like the entire country is due a class action suit—-well, leaving out the leftists, who don’t care that their country is destroyed.
Wont work because SCOTUS is captured by woke bastards except for 3-Alito, Thomas and Gorsuch(Maybe)
Coney-Barrett and Kavanaugh are lost to the left
We need to demand lots of resignations. America has been deliberately humiliated in front of the world. And America is being tricked by the FDA at home into doing what exactly to our military? Giving them all shots of experimental poison from Pfizer? And then when they are all sick does China march across the Canadian border? Who even knows what additional horrors they have planned? Who cares if they get rid of Biden? Get rid of them all! Biden can’t tie his own shoes. All the leaders of the entire operation need to resign.
We need a military coup
Hes Back
Ah, the criminal Bo Birddog treachery. Treason in plain sight with no punishment.
They are obviously accomplishing, “…what we are going to try to do here with Afghanistan.“
These folks running the White House do not understand that they are only creating a hardened resolve of real Americans.
.
Remember the Alamo, Remember Pearl Harbor, Remember 911…
.
The thing I am wondering is how long will it take the majority of the citizenry to realize the real enemy behind BENGHAZI, KABUL and other future staged failures.
This is EXACTLY what happens, when military promotions are contingent on a political outlook, rather than merit.
So, THIS catastrophe is really “laid at the feet” of Obummer, cause HE is the one who purged the upper echelons of the Pentagon, and replaced them with left wing ideolougue yes men.
Obama owns it, but Biden wears it,..poorly.
I wonder what videos China has on these two idiots. Milley and Austin are giving a lot of people in this country a lot of rage with their and the boss’ incompetence regardless of whether it’s white or not.
I detest these duplicitous men, and the parseltongue they hide behind.
“Retrograde” = “Bug Out” and abandon our allies
“Over the Horizon” = “Bomb the Sh*t out of them” from afar.
Those political pukes are disgusting excuses for generals or statesmen.
Cannot say that I am surprised.
It might even have been inevitable considering the need for the DoD to sanitize the reality of warfare to the civilian population.
Add in the creeping politics that come with presumably civilian oversight and the nature of bureaucracy from being a Federal agency and see what happens.
Yeah, as much as he was a MIC hawk, at least Donald Rumsfeld had a more honest and funny vocabulary. He didn’t parse words, and right or wrong he always had an answer. The current DOD wokesters have no clue, much less a sense of humor,
“Bagram is not necessary, tactically or operationally for what we are going to try to do here”
General, what exactly are you trying to do here?
Trump on Hannity soon.9:10 now. Yeah I know Fox.
It’s corruption covered by incompetence
Both get you promoted in government. It’s woke world, get used to it until the revolution.
It would have been far better to disband the Pentagon than Bagram.
“what we are trying to do here”
remarkably . . . unmilitary!
Anyone thats spent anytime in the military knows that general officers are politicians in uniform. Then you have the worst of the lot in the form of affirmative action generals in the form of Austin. Then you have the despicable charlatans in the form of Milley who is Chu Hoi. Know this: there are plenty more where they come from.
