Comrade citizens, in the first in nation development, Delta Airlines Corporation has announced it will begin fining non-vaccinated employees $200/month for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine. The fine will be deducted from the paycheck of Delta employees who are enrolled in their healthcare plan and not vaccinated.
This is a remarkable development and likely to begin a process we might see from other employers. If a company can fine an individual for their personal health decisions, it is only a short step to a company that can begin issuing financial penalties for weight, diet, or other health attributes.
(Bloomberg) – Delta Air Lines Inc. will impose a $200 monthly surcharge on employees who aren’t vaccinated against Covid-19, becoming the first major U.S. company to levy a penalty to encourage workers to get protected.
The new policy was outlined in a memo from Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian, who said 75% of the carrier’s workers already are vaccinated. Increasing cases of coronavirus linked to a “very aggressive” variant are driving the push for all employees to get the shots, he said in the note to employees Wednesday.
The fee applies to employees in the airline’s health-care plan who haven’t received shots by Nov. 1. The company also will require weekly testing for employees who aren’t vaccinated by mid-September. (read more)

They don’t start the clock until that door is locked and upon landing only get paid to 30 mins after that door opens.

Sadly, flight attendants are not paid well at all. They tell me it’s the love of travel and working with people that draw many to the profession.
I know flight attendants and they are lovely people. Not an easy job, made worse by sometimes abusive travelers, or when they fight with each other.

I’m far more qualified to judge airline service than you are. Why? Because I’m the customer and I have experienced all sorts of things I’d rather not have. You’re on the service provider side and obviously have a different opinion of the services provided which is FINE, by the way. But my side pays the salaries and bonuses of the top executives and then whatever scraps are left over go to the service provider staff who apparently, despite enormous union might, somehow doesn’t get people the wages and earnings they deserve? The benefits are the ones where they fly for free and discounts all over and anywhere. And for many, it’s certainly worth some abuse.

As a person in the employment business, I called my representatives. Right now there are zero talks about HIPPA. I cannot legally ask a person any medial questions that can or may be an identifier.
My concern is if a client requires the vaccine and then there is some complication, can I be sued.
I do have clients that are tobacco free facilities and do test for nicotine in order to receive reduced insurance rates.
This whole thing is a huge mess. I agree the courts should uphold EEOC and HIPPA but who knows. Just look at Australia.

Workers compensation rates are determined by the number and dollar amount of work-related injury claims being filed and paid out. These employers are on the hook for imposing punitive work restrictions that coerce employees to take dangerous injections. I would sue the crap out of them and win.
Workers compensation rates have nothing to do with group health rates. Workers comp carriers file their rate with the state and if approved those are the rates. Experience rating is based on the losses that occur after the fact. In other words the increase in workers comp rates cannot be increased until after the claims are paid vs how much premium was paid. This is typical in most states but not all. I think that all employees that are forced to vax and are injured or killed will be subject to law suits. It may be worker’s comp or employer practices liability. Depends on the laws of the state. Health insurance is federal law.

There was a time Flight Attendants had to be a certain height and weight. Those standards fell to the wayside to become more “inclusive” which OBiden Admin/ Dims claim to be a proponent of, but constantly manages to convey the opposite.
It’s currently legal for an employer to discriminate against someone because of their height or weight unless there’s a disability involved.
Legal in 49 states, Michigan is the only one with a law prohibiting discrimination because of age, height or weight (law was upheld in Hooters case which was eventually settled in private arbitration).

Police and firefighters no longer have height and weight requirements, just supposed to pass a physical assessment, sometimes annual, sometimes not. And sometimes signed off on anyway due to their union protections. Many overweight police officers can’t get over a fence or chase a suspect, many firefighters are too small and/or not strong enough to be able to drag a 6′ man out of a burning building while carrying a couple of kids.

To be fair, plenty of companies have done similar for smokers – usually it’s a discount on health insurance premiums rather than a fine/penalty assessed, but we’ve been moving in that direction for a while now.
Group health insurance does not ask the question of smoker/non smoker anymore. It’s basically guaranteed issue so need to ask. This happened after ACA.

Since the beginning of July, all-cause deaths have risen 12% over 2020 and 9% over the 2015-2019 average:
59,877 (2021)
53,435 (2020)
54,716 (2015-19 average)
And the gap is widening. For the newest available week (Aug. 13) it was 16% over 2020.
This gap is not due to Covid deaths – though those are now also higher than last summer.
Mortality is VERY seasonally predictable (see how close the 2015-19 average is to the 2020 figure).
Something bad is going on.

All-cause deaths were DOWN then – quite significantly in April – as I and almost everyone expected, given that Covid pulled the deaths of many very ill people forward by a few months.
