Before going deep into the motives surrounding this announcement from Senator Ted Cruz, let’s first just focus on the statement.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx) now leads a group of republican senators in an effort to support the January 6th challenge to the electoral college certification in the senate. The senate republicans include: Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), and Mike Braun (R-Ind.), as well as Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.).
The group is proposing that “[c]ongress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states. Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.”
The group noted a similar commission – made of five representatives, five senators and five Supreme Court justices – reviewed allegations of fraud in the 1876 election.
The statement continues, “[a]ccordingly, we intend to vote on Jan. 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed.” (full statement)
The approach is in general alignment with a request to congress made by President Donald Trump and weakly, politically, initiated by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. However, it is worth noting the change in position amid the GOP(e) only comes after Senator Josh Hawley formerly announced he would challenge the certification; and, as a consequence, there is going to be a recorded roll-call vote in the Senate.
Let us not be obtuse in our honest discussion of what the actual background of these participants -and their connection to the developments- actually means.
As a result of Senator Hawley the republican senate is in an uncomfortable position. None of the aforementioned senators would participate in an electoral challenge without the authorization of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the ultimate DeceptiCon.
McConnell knows that Hawley’s action is going to initiate a roll-call vote. In order for McConnell to survive the backlash of We The People showing up en masse at the same time as the Senate certification is taking place, Mitch is positioning his upper chamber to give the impression of support. The action by Ted Cruz et al is politically motivated; consider it bandwaggoning as an outcome of what Hawley is forcing upon the chamber.
If Hawley never announced his intent, this effort by Ted Cruz et al would never have been initiated. However, that said, once you accept the politics and motives involved – it becomes possible to use the DeceptiCon weakness, strategically, against them.
The upper-chamber wants to give the illusion of support to the massive MAGA audience. This means We The People who support President Donald J Trump can now define the rules of that support…. this is the power we rarely exhibit because we -mistakenly- accept their false-face and give them benefit-of-doubt. Do not do this again, not now.
Accept the GOPe are doing an exercise in-name-only and push them into proving they are genuine in their demands. Send emails, call your senators, and give support to those who are positioned to raise objection, while demanding the constitutional fulfillment of those expectations (promises) regardless of support from the Democrat wing of the UniParty bird. DO NOT let them deflect inaction to parliamentary processes.
♦Second, call and email the Senators who are not listed in the Cruz contingent, but would normally say they support President Trump. Where is Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, Chuck Grassley, Thom Tillis etc. Why are they not supporting the effort? These are the direct questions and demands that must be made.
♦Third, we already know the Mitch McConnell, John Barrasso, Jodi Earnest and John Thune leadership group will not publicly support this effort…. However, the remaining DeceptiCons must be forced on the record. Where is Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Lisa Murkowski, John Cornyn, etc etc.? Force Mitch McConnell’s DeceptiCon coalition to take a position; DEMAND IT.
♦Fourth, GEORGIA MAGA VOTERS need to get out and support the republican special election. I know it sucks to vote for the lesser of two-evils, but right now strategy demands we align all effort in the best possible way for success. WE NEED the victory on January 5th in order to fuel momentum for the electoral challenge on January 6th.
We accept the spineless nature of the GOPe senate. If you think they are spineless now, think about how feeble their effort will be on January 6th if they know in advance they will be in the minority.
Think strategically. Leader McConnell would not be adverse to a minority position, do not give it to him (them). Force them to take action by forcing them to actually deliver on what ‘they claim’ publicly to want….
…Use the public face of the republican apparatus, despite it being false, against them, to achieve a strategic objective….
…Read that again slowly if needed.

The commission idea is ridiculous. Any senator and representative that has done their job knows full well that many states violated their own election laws and that there was massive amounts of fraud that took place. They will look like fools either way now if they can’t reject the Biden electors in contested states on January 6th. They can have the 2 hours of deliberation and if both the senate and the house can’t muster enough votes to reject Biden electors for Arizona then Pence using his plenary power rejects the electors anyway. Once they realize Trump will be President no matter what they do they are exposed. Better to be voting the right way for the Arizona electors so they are on the right side of history.
Yes, this is called leverage. But still we must be true to the Constitution. The State Reps. ‘must’ assemble and select electors as is their solemn duty under the Constitution. The Vice President ‘must’ count those Constitutional votes as is his duty.

Stop delegating your authority as provided by the Constitution, rather embrace it, this is key a step towards restoring the Republic, one you can begin now. If so, and I think you are right, the only path is via the Constitution, where VP Pence doesn’t count the clearly fraudulent electors until ‘sufficient’ time is provided for the dual elector slate to be decided via the State’s Rep. via a joint session. Now some may not be able to for one silly reason or another, but that just forces the 12th Amendment of 1 State 1 Vote. Either way its 100% Constitutional. All these various approaches, while they may que up a Constitutional approach to resolve this, are not by definition Constitutional.
In short State Reps ‘only’ select, VP ‘only’ counts, if not 270 then the 12th kicks in One State One Vote, will decide the matter. It’s so easy even a caveman could understand.

Seems to me that Pence has a path to deal with objections without the EVA process getting in the way. Simply table the seven contested states’ EVs pending presentation of the objectors’ evidence. At the conclusion of such evidence inquire as to whether others want to join in the objection. Then, if Pence believes the evidence is clear and convincing, note no candidate has 270, cite the Guarantee Clause, adjourn and kick the matter to the House under the 12th Amendment. Done. Not a dumb question at all. Why couldn’t they change their electors? The state legislatures have plenary authority over the selection of their electors. In Arizona, where Gov. Ducey has been refusing to call a special session, the new general session will begin on Jan 11 and whether he likes it or not, the legislature can take up the issue. Governors have no role in selecting electors for the electoral college and the legislature can do what they feel they must once they are in session.
They need to do that because if it ends at Scotus there have been several.preceden ts where Scotus as ruled the can take back that power at any time

Not entirely sure what to make of this commission idea. Apparently it worked in 1877, but that is no guarantee it would work in 2021. But also, neither McConnell or Pelosi will be completely in charge. Almost every member of Congress will be trying to get their foot in that door. McConnell and Pelosi will try to control it, but what if this thing slips out of their control? If the truth starts coming out on the floor of Congress, the MSM may also lose control of the narrative. The entire country – the entire world – will be watching what is going on, and many of the millions who only listen to the MSM might suddenly realize that they have been fed a very sizable load by those people over the last two months. That might also suddenly cause one or more of the state legislatures to suddenly realize they had better not continue sitting on their hands. They could still switch their electors even if a commission is set up. If there is more than one Constitutional path to stopping the steal, there is no reason to think all of those paths would not still be in play. Anything is possible, but it has to get beyond that joint session on Jan 6.

We can all pontificate about the motivations and gamesmanship of the decepticon uni-party members all we want but IMO if we want Trump to actually win this thing, then we must have the contested State Legislators pass actual legislation either decertifying Biden or better yet certifying Trump as the winner. We need some combination of decertifies or flips to actually put Trump in the lead. My read on the Constitution is the candidate with the most electoral collage votes, wins. Start taking away from the total votes casts then reaching 270 should not matter any more. It seems for the one vote per state rule to kick in, the entire election would have to be nullified in some way. This is uncharted territory so what would actually happen if no one gets 270 still has to be hashed out by Congress or SCOTUS. Biden could still get more electoral votes than Trump without anyone making it to 270. Also Trump could win the electoral college vote without 270.
Back to the vital importance of the contested States formally enacting legislation decertifying the current results or changing the actually winner. Without that it is game over for Trump to win in the political manner. Not one contested State has accomplished this as of today although both Arizona and Georgia are at the cusp. This current action led by Cruz would buy time and hopefully add more documentary evidence to give the State legislators the impetus to make this all legal with the t’s crossed and the i’s dotted. After this Monday or the Monday after (Jan 4 or 11), most state legislatures will have already convened their regular or general sessions for 2021. There is no need for them to convene a special session to change their electors if they are already in session. Since they have plenary authority over the selection of electors, they should only need to have one legislator propose the change in order to get the process started. Under many state Constitutions, only the governor can call a special session. But the governors have no authority over the selection of electors and they cannot veto the selection by the legislatures. To say that a special session has to be called would grant an unconstitutional veto to the governors if they declined to call the special session. Are these Senators trying to muck it up?

It’s my understanding, but someone please correct me if I’m wrong, that both bodies must agree to reject a state’s electoral votes. What prevents the House from just voting along partisan lines to accept every state’s electoral votes thus preventing any votes from being rejected? Objections only provide a debate window and then requires a roll call vote. There will be no majority votes for rejection on the House side. There Is little indication that there would also be any majority votes for rejection on the Senate side as well. So the only way to get the electoral votes to be changed is for state legislatures to recall their fraudster Biden electors prior to the congressional certification vote. Am I missing something?

Excluding the UniParty Two-Winged Vulture from Utah, there are 6 Republican Senators who are on the Homeland Security Committee currently chaired by Senator Ron Johnson-WI.
So far there are two other Senators from this committee, Josh Hawley,-MO and James Lankford-OK, who are standing up to be counted and to begin to deal with the Fraud of the Nov. 3rd Presidential Election.
I’m really hoping Rand Paul – KY has some heart to heart encouragement from any of these three.
