I would expect this from Erdogan, but from Ron Paul it’s profoundly disappointing. Erdogan blames the generic “West” for creating racism and negative views of Islam, adjusting his view to present a massive conspiracy against the Islamic world. However, Ron Paul specifically blames the U.S.

erdogan(JPost) Erdogan accused the West of having a double standard with regard to Muslims. The Turkish leader said historically Muslims were never on the side of terror, nor did they perpetrate massacres.

Referring to last week’s deadly attacks in France, Erdogan said that racism, hate messages and Islamaphobia stood behind the acts.

“We hope that the those attacking nations, cease their assault on our mosques.”

“Take note that the acts of terror are not carried out in a vacuum. The acts follow a predetermined script and we should be alive to a plot against the Islamic world,” he added. (read more)

Erdogan’s position really does not come as a surprise.  Essentially his Muslim Brotherhood affiliation has been more open in the past several years.  Recently, as Qatar kicked out the five terrorist leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, Erdogan opened up a sanctuary for them.
In addition Erdogan has openly supported the Islamic State (ISIS) -as they fight against Syria’s Assad- by keeping the Kurds from crossing the border to battle ISIS in Kobane, and closing his NATO bases to the U.S. effort against the terror network.
However, for Ron Paul to take a position in support of the terrorists, and against the free speech principles of the Charlie Hebdo satirists, is yet another reflection of Paul’s alignment with the collective mind of the White House.  Like President Obama and President Erdogan, Ron Paul has always believed that supporting Israel is the root of all evil – his anti-Semitism is well known.

Ron_PaulRon Paul – After the tragic shooting at a provocative magazine in Paris last week, I pointed out that given the foreign policy positions of France we must consider blowback as a factor. Those who do not understand blowback made the ridiculous claim that I was excusing the attack or even blaming the victims. Not at all, as I abhor the initiation of force. The police blaming victims when they search for the motive of a criminal.

The mainstream media immediately decided that the shooting was an attack on free speech. Many in the US preferred this version of “they hate us because we are free,” which is the claim that President Bush made after 9/11. They expressed solidarity with the French and vowed to fight for free speech. But have these people not noticed that the First Amendment is routinely violated by the US government? President Barack Obama has used the Espionage Act more than all previous administrations combined to silence and imprison whistleblowers. Where are the protests? Where are protesters demanding the release of John Kiriakou, who blew the whistle on the CIA use of waterboarding and other torture? The whistleblower went to prison while the torturers will not be prosecuted. No protests. […]

Foreign policy actions have consequences. The aggressive foreign policies of the United States and its allies in the Middle East have radicalized thousands and have made us less safe. Blowback is real whether some want to recognize it or not. There are no guarantees of security, but only a policy of non-intervention can reduce the risk of another attack. (read more)

Again, as with prior deliveries, Ron Paul uses blanket statements to ridicule U.S. foreign policy.  While there are recent individual actions, reflected in flawed U.S. policy which rightly should be deconstructed, such as Libya and Egypt 2011, Ron Paul loses the credibility factor when he blankets ALL FOREIGN POLICY under the flawed elements.
Like it or not when you stand for individual freedom, there are going to be times when it becomes important to stand with the individuals -wherever they are- fighting for it.
Much like his own failed electoral bids, Ron Paul is 99.9% talking about the problem, and less than .1% advocating for a solution.   His expertise, and what keeps his followers fueled, is the constant stream of anti-(fill in the blank).
If you where to give the Ron Paul’s all they want, you eventually end up with a room full of people looking around saying, “what now”?
