The crucified Coptic Christians beg to differ….
(Via MEMRI) Muhammad Badi, General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, made an address to the court on May 18, 2014, rejecting the accusations brought against him and other members of the movement. In footage from the trial posted on the Internet, Badie says: “We have fought only against the Jews… yet now we are being accused of conspiring with Hamas against the Egyptian people. This is an absolute lie.”
Following are excerpts:
Muhammad Badi (standing before the court): Assalam Alaykum. Allah’s blessings and prayers upon you.
Judge: You have two minutes.
Muhammad Badi: Fine. This scene is recorded in the heavens, and if we do not meet again in this world, we shall definitely and undeniably meet on Judgment Day before the Lord’s court of justice.
[…] Never have we responded to violent attacks against us with violence. We are commanded to spread Allah’s mercy through peaceful means.
[…] We have fought only against the Jews, and Kamel Al-Sharif may testify about the conduct of the Muslim Brotherhood in the [1948] war in Palestine. We fought against the Jews. The Israeli strategic research institute wrote in a report: “Our greatest enemies in the world are the Muslim Brotherhood.” This is an honor for us, yet now we are being accused of conspiring with Hamas against the Egyptian people. This is an absolute lie. (continue reading)

Previously from Muhammed Badi:
We will kill the Israeli Ambassador in Cairo – 2011
On July 4th 2013 I wrote the following – I hold hope for Egypt:
The 2013 uprising in Egypt and the current coup d’état is, in this author’s opinion, a cause for celebration – joyful celebration. We are bearing witness to our 1776 revolt – Egyptian Style in 2013. In this version President Morsi replaces King George; The freedom patriots in Egypt have fought hard and deserve a valiant victory.
The U.S. Media is absolutely twisting themselves into new and never before seen pretzel contortions trying to explain the obvious, yet hide the meaning.
Not disconnected, and quite simultaneously, President Obama has been handed a massive slap across the face. President Morsi was formerly the benefactor of President Obama’s unwavering, and ideological, support.
[**now we international Wolverines look at you Erdogan – you’re next**]
To understand Egypt is to understand what it looks like when a minority wins inside a democracy. To understand Egypt one only needs to consider the current United States if it were not for the firm structure of the constitution and the framework of the “Republic” which specifically supports the minority.
The Muslim Brotherhood initially promised NOT to run for political office. It was with that understanding the moderate or liberal Egyptian people allowed the Brotherhood to join their ranks. But like the millennia that has come before, the Islamists lied and co-opted the freedom principles.
After emptying the jails and prisons to get their brothers back (See Mohamad al Zawahiri et al), then anointing Morsi so they could control and influence, structurally controlling the elections, and threatening anyone who would oppose them, the Muslim Brotherhood took control. The people just pushed back and kicked him out.
Egypt has no process for minority rule over a majority opinion. The people had no choice except to take military action. The big question was — would the military help them? Now we know the answer.
In the United States, we have a structure to deal with minority rule over majority opinion – hence the President can be handcuffed by congress in either the Senate or The House. THANK YOU, FOUNDERS. Absent of this awesome constitution we hold so dear, the pitchforks and muskets would be our only option, too.
Reports are that Islamist President Morsi is under house arrest, and all of his top officials and the top officials of the Muslim Brotherhood, are of a similar disposition. President Obama has been dealt a massive ideological defeat. Period. Freedom wins.
Today I cheer for the ordinary Egyptian who have suffered so much.
Today I cheer for the Coptic Christians in Egypt who have been crucified in front of the Presidential palace and killed by the thousands.
Today I cheer for the people of Israel who will have a moderate decent neighbor in the body politic again.
Today I cheer for freedom’s return.
Ugly.. messy… awkward….. challenging….. but always inherent, FREEDOM.
