I would remind readers, in 2010 George W Bush’s campaign manager, aide and senior staff, Karl Rove, revealed [“Courage and Consequence“] that then CIA Director George Tenet had been trying for several weeks to get a personal meeting with President Bush to outline an intelligence concern about an international terror threat.
According to Rove, White House National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, had been blocking Tenet from meeting with President Bush. Director Tenet sent several requests using alternate channels to reach Bush. Eventually, in the late spring or early summer 2001, Tenet overcame the Rice block and was given time to brief President Bush.
CIA Director George Tenet then told President Bush the CIA had intercepted telephone “chatter” pointing to an al-Qaeda terrorist threat that somehow involved airlines. However, the details and the specifics of the threat were unknown. The only thing Tenet knew with certainty was that some type of plot was underway and airlines were involved.
George W Bush responded to Tenet by saying it appeared the CIA director was just trying to “cover his ass” in case something happened. Bush was angered at the vagueness of the warning and told Tenet to consider his ass covered, but essentially the information was useless without specifics.
The rest, as they say, is history. The matter did not surface again until after the 9/11/01 plot was carried out.
A lot has been learned after the fact. Can’t watch all the the 9/11 news coverage because they do not point out the primary culprit in the case . Islam.
It makes one wonder how many of the conspiracy theories are promulgated by Islam to distract attention from Islam.
Islamists were the henchmen to create a crisis. Sweeping anti-constitutional powers of Patriot Act was already ready for Congressional vote in September of 2001. Islamists did did not write that.
This right here. Never understood why it was called the “Patriot Act” from its conception until they started using all of it against us.
It fooled the American people into believing it was for good versus what is actually is.

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.
Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I have lived thru 12 bad presidential terms and only 1 mediocre and 2 good ones and two great ones.
Nixon was the mediocre one, Reagan was good 2 and Trump great 2. The rest including the Bushes and the Ford fill in for Nixon were different degrees of bad.
Only Reagan and Trump seemed to honor the Constitution
Reagan had 2 big time screw ups his amnesty bill and his EMTALA. We are still paying for Reagan’s EMTALA which states that if a hospital receives Medicare payments its ER must provide a medical screening examination to patients regardless of immigration status, nationality or ability to pay. This law is why our ERs are full of illegal immigrants using them like a family practice with the American taxpayers footing the bill.

Maybe not so important as why it was destroyed.
There were a lot of records from several government agencies and organizations that were conveniently lost with the building’s destruction.
So, did they just get lucky with the planes hitting the other buildings or were they counting on them?
There was no luck involved when you consider the confluence of factors leading into and out of the incident. Remember former Director Brennan? He was the station chief in Saudi Arabia where a bunch of these perps came from, and if I remember right was also pivotal in them getting visas to the US.
Building 7 was the odd one out, and still is where it was not hit by a airliner and yet fell in it’s own footprint.
Having a couple degrees of separation between the direct facilitators of terrorism and those who ostensibly work against it leaves a wide latitude of plausible deniability and room for directing subsequent policy outcomes. Like getting the Patriot Act passed without a bunch of debate or time to examine it fully.

Let’s start with facts. It was damaged by the collapse of the other towers. Still, despite the damage, it stood for hours before collapsing. And that damage started fires. Fires that burned unchecked for hours. They say the fires did the damage that took down the third building.

Believe them or not. But we deserve better than false claims of no damage and no explanation.
A good leader and manager would then ask the subordinate: What resources do you need to figure this one out? Who can help us? Let’s think outside the box. Are there other intel agencies that can help? Come up with a plan.
This may have been beyond the capabilities of GWB to think of these questions.

As I recall, Dole’s age was a big talking point from the left. When Biden ran however it was crickets from that side.
Bob Dole gave one of the best convention speeches I have heard in my lifetime .
While I am not pleased with how Bush and Bush performed, it would have been much worse if Dukakis, Gore or Kerry had won instead.
We know what garbage and misery Clinton, Obama and Biden wrought. Would have been yet more damage done if you had voted differently.

My first thought on reading the article.
Rice was power hungry. Controlled access to the President and manipulated everything. And she used that power to oust Powell so she could take his job.
She also controlled what would happen in Iraq. Those failures were her doing.
I was listening to Rush Limbaugh a week or two before 9/11. I remember at that time he mentioned something very similar about certain chatter. After 9/11 happened, I thought about his remark and wondered that if he “knew of” something, why were others unaware.
