Dept of Transportation Secretary Scott Duffy and Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin hold a press conference to announce emergency DoT and DHS action to initiate an emergency shutdown of regulated training centers for commercial driver’s licenses.
Actions announced include DoT (1) Emergency removal of 110 commercial driver’s license (CDL) schools associated with more than 5,000 drivers who failed English language proficiency tests. (2) Launching a nationwide audit of third-party CDL skills testers and states’ oversight of the testers. (3) Results from 40-state investigation of additional training schools. From DHS (1) Synchronized single-day sweep targeting more than 200 training schools across 23 states. (2) Joint coordination with USDOT. (3) HSI and ICE updates on ongoing investigations targeting CDL-related businesses and schools.

What Secretary Mullin outlined in his remarks is stunning. During one taskforce setup, in the first day they stopped 14 big rig drivers with a CDL that said “No Name Given” for the truck driver’s identification. They didn’t even have names on their commercial driver’s licenses.
At 41:10 of the video, a reporter downplays the issue claiming only 1% of the accidents on the road are caused by drivers who do not speak English. Secretary Mullin responds with a very intense pushback against the reporter.

As a person that drives a minimum of 30,000 miles a year for work (not much compared to truckers), I applaud anything that can be done to make our roadways safer.
The amount of stupidity I’ve seen on the road since 2020 has skyrocketed, and I’m convinced it’s largely attributed to foreigners that have no concept of traffic laws and rules of the road.
Revoke their licenses, and send em back to wherever the hell they came form.
And something needs to be done about the stupidity of texting while driving.

The lamestream media should be required to place themselves, their relatives & friends on the roads congested with big rigs daily so that they can be enriched by the less than 1%.

FL DMV…All tests in English Only..No translator!
Was in local office a month ago watched “illegal” and translator turned away, made the much shorter wait more enjoyable.
When driving now I stare up into the truck cabs to see who is driving-if they are dark swarthy and wearing a turban I get away as fast as possible. Yes, I am profiling.

How about sanctioning *individuals* in state and federal government that permit CDL, healthcare, voting, and social services fraud? The perps can regain access after one year of community service (6 hrs/day) picking up trash in inner cities and along rail lines.

Let me clarify what it means when you see “No Name Given” on an official document. I see it in my line of work- there are people from certain countries like Burma, even India or other Asian countries who do not have a first name, only a last name. I know it’s weird. So when they come here, the government puts “No Name Given” on official documents instead of a first name, since they don’t have one. No official documents would have just ” No Name Given ” on them, that would be insane.

They’re going after schools, which is very good. When are they going after the states and the gov’t workers that gave out these CDLs? Start with the easy ones that gave out “No Name Given.” I see firings & prison for them. Aside from fraudulent gov’t document charges, a bit of 8 USC 1324 would do well.
A couple of years ago my husband called 911 on a truck driver who was repeatedly drifting out of his lane. We had all our kids with us.
Get these rigs off the road! This should have happened right when President Trump took office. Plus take EVERY driver’s license away from all illegals and depot them.

I’ve always been a cautious driver but now I’m extremely cautious and it’s still not enough. The crazy drivers are everywhere now. It has NEVER been this bad.
In PA, the Paul Miller law restricting any and all mobile device use while driving went into effect this summer. All drivers statewide can now be fined as a primary offense for even looking at a phone while the engine is running, even while the vehicle is stopped.
Paul was killed by a tractor trailer driver who dropped a cell phone while driving, crossed the highway, and clipped several vehicles, pushing Paul’s car off the road killing him. The truck driver had several prior incidents of distracted driving. It’s really hard to find his name for some reason, but enough searching and you find it is Jaswinder Singh, a commercial driver from NJ.
There was very little media digging into how Mr Singh got his CDL 15 years ago, but knowing now how the trucking industry was so lax in issuing licenses, maybe the real problem wasn’t distracted driving requiring the state to regulate all its citizens.
Why did this take so long?
This administration sits on their hands and dithers. When they finally do something, everyone applauds like, “Good job for dragging your feet.”
So “No Name Given” is now legal identification in the United States? I’ll try that with my white face if I’m pulled over.

Over 1 million miles OTR driver after military retirement I observed that the really dangerous and stupidly aggressive drivers of semi’s were almost always towel heads.
Again, speaking to what I observed.
I thank God I no longer have to deal with persons so stupid as to try to eat on the fuel island of a truck stop without pulling forward or even caring that someone else might need to fuel.
I don’t miss the third worlders placing used and nasty toilet paper in rhe trash bins instead of flushing……

My son drives tractor-trailers for UPS.
He said that, as of last year, all CDLs were required to conform to the Enhanced/Real ID standards.
He said that there are still a lot of drivers who haven’t upgraded their CDLs though.
Maybe DOT should order an immediate upgrade for all those licenses and prohibit names such as “No Name Given.”
Years ago I participated in a huge lawsuit involving an innocent driver that was hit by an illegal alien driving a commercial truck.
The innocent driver suffered horrendous injuries that included a brain bleed and subséquent brain damage that returned this adult male to the mental and physical state of a three year old. As a fully grown adult male he had to be kept in a cage due to the dangers his anger and rage and other issues presented to his caretakers. The day in the life video was hard to watch.
The company that owned the truck and hired the illegal went bankrupt almost immediately, likely to avoid their financial responsibility.
