U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar hold a press conference in New Delhi during Rubio’s first official trip to India.
In continuation of President Trump’s Indo-Pacific strategy, Secretary Rubio notes that India has become one of America’s most strategic partnerships in the world. Both nations represent the world’s largest democracies, and both nations face internal scrutiny as an outcome of their need to be open and accountable to the people they represent. Additionally, the trade and economic partnership between the USA and India is critical to hedge against the influence by Chinese expansion.
The question and media answers begin at 16:10, with the first question asking about U.S. policy that no longer supports mass visa opportunities for Indian residents. Rubio notes the same visa restrictions that are in place now against India are the same visa limits now in place against the entire globe. Here in Redmond Wa you can’t rent a house unless you’re Indian because Indians own them and won’t rent to anyone but more Indians. A friend tried and ended up – with help from her mother – having to buy a house.

Unfortunately you make a good point. The US education system is failing the country. You have college graduates who apply for jobs with faces full of metal and appearing to be under the influence of something and when asked what is 10% of 150 they cannot answer that question.

There’s always someone in these threads that takes any opportunity they can to dump on Americans and point out how foreigners, usually Indians, are superior. Here’s the reality. Indians operate as an ethnic cartel, lying and cheating their way into a company until they gain a foothold, and then booting everyone else out. The “good education at a real school” came from the Indian equivalent of a Quality Learing Center. The insults from people Slumgullion are used to silence and belittle Americans who question the ethnic cartel. And if you don’t believe me, talk to any American who has tried working in IT or tech.

Too many of us are seeing just the opposite from these “Economic” immigrants….they appear to be taking what we built. And most of our leaders allowed and encouraged it.
If there is a downturn in the economy, I predict trouble ahead.
This has been happening since these kind of visas were first implemented, and long before our colleges and universities got so bad. This kind of hiring of foreigners and dumping American workers was the whole point of those visas. The purpose was so those big corporations could cut labor costs, not to get better and higher educated workers than they could get from Americans.
I remember reading a long time ago that many of these Indian visa holders would arrive in the U.S. and start working in whatever jobs they came here for, very happy to have the employment even though they were starting at far less than Americans in similar jobs. And then after around five years or so working at less than the going rate they would start to seek increases, to come up to American salary levels. But if they were too insistent, they might find themselves being let go and replaced by a newer Indian visa holder. It was and remains all about the cost of labor.
A friend tried to get a Dunkin Donuts franchise 20 years ago. He didn’t even come close! 😒

A parallel system due to the H1-b visa program. tech companies founded by American ingenuity now run by Indian CEOs whose culture believes you are born into your ‘caste’ and cannot advance.

The H1-b visa system is another pillar in the great replacement of American workers and American culture. There are more foreign born tech workers than American born.
