And get this, many of those doctors that got so many patients hooked are still around and have since climbed the ladder to the top.
Their victims see write ups in local publications all the time that celebrate these drug pushers like they are heroes as they move into top positions- and look at what they’ve done.
There are doctors at the absolute top of our local hospital that probably singlehandedly got tens of dozens of locals hooked on the pills, many are now dead and left kids without a parent.
There has been no reckoning at all for what they’ve done -and we all know their names.
Believe me, people know the name of the doctor that did this to their family member.

People need to look at themselves. If we were a clear headed, strong individual there would be no need for any alternative reality. We as a people have only ourselves to blame.
It’s so easy to blame but the reality is simple, nobody forced drug addicts to take drugs. Maybe we should start blaming the alcohol industry as well for all the alcoholics and drunk drivers.
I don’t drink nor do I take drugs. I grew up around them with friends and saw what it did to them.
True. We have also seen cities & states that have basically legalized drugs and it was not pretty. Fight we much.
Do you know anyone addicted to prescription pain meds? Of course you’re aware of them.
I call prescription opioids as bad or even worse than street drugs because people place their trust in doctors who prescribe them and big pharma that makes huge profits selling them while being aware of their highly addictive nature.
On the other side of that coin, millions and millions of people take prescription pain medication for pain relief and do not get addicted.
But we could just eliminate the pharmaceutical pain industry and then see what happens.
In certain cases, when taken as prescribed for a short term they can be helpful.
Long term chronic users develop tolerance and need higher doses to achieve the same result.
Is it alright for 100 out of 10,000, or any number of patients, to become addicts to pain meds?
Until they discover the magic formula to relieve pain without the addiction.
Incidentally, Japan is testing a medication for severe pain without the opioid side effects.

Not all people experience the same effects.
Opiods relive pain (*); however, they also can (not always) produce a euphoria. That euphoria is what influences people to abuse those products.
Doctors have no way of knowing which patients will experience that euphoria. Or which patients in that group will become abusers.
I am one of those people that do not experience that “high”, they just relieve pain. Also, I have been told by others which experience it that they “prefer” certain compounds over others.

This is true. This is where the doctor decides which medication is appropriate for the condition. Obviously OxyContin for a hangnail is extreme.
My father died from cancer. He was in excruciating pain and back in those days they didn’t have all the long acting pain meds like
Today. So he took handfuls of morphine and dilaudid. Today they have implanted pumps and long acting meds. The advance in medicine has its side effects as well.

Those are the ones that work best for me. I weaned myself off time release morphine over the span of 2.5 months back in early 2019 because of tolerance.
Abusers seem to prefer the semisynthetic compounds such as hydrocodone and oxycodone. I had a prescription for Hydrocodone for 15 years and never became addicted, probably because the instructions said ” take as needed”.
Hydromorphone and oxymorphone cause brain cancer.. that’s why Advent Health will no longer use them..
I’d like to point out an important point here:
Doctors are not allowed to ask the right questions that would help lead them to making better choices.
They can’t ask you if you have ADHD or if you are bi-polar, if you have any mental issues what so ever that would then not allow you to properly assess the risk.
What about people that cannot read well?
Do you know how many people that is?
The fact here is that the majority of these patients, for a wide variety reasons, they are not making fully informed decisions because they don’t have the ability to become fully informed.
The abusers have ruined things for everyone. People that have a legitimate need for those are often deprived, unless they are at the end stage cancer point.
Alternatives do not always work. For instance, if I take Tramadol daily for chronic pain, I get many of the symptoms of “chronic fatigue syndrome”. I do not suffer from any common side effects of opiates such as tiredness, constipation or ED.
People can only take the drugs that are available. Who made billions of pills at the ready for so many buzzjunkies?

Many people with prescriptions do not take all their pills and sell them on the black market for cash.
I understand that now that the supply from that source has dwindled, there are plenty of counterfeit pill operations going on. Many overdoses are occurring because of fake pills.
I am too old to work on any equipment besides a garden hoe. What damage can I cause. Hellfire, I can’t even drive anymore.

My own mother slipped on the ice, fell and broke a bone in her back.
She had a heck of a time dealing with what the prescribed pain meds did to her as far as making it difficult to move off them as the pain lessened and this happened to an old lady well aware of all this.
She needed them, did her homework, did her best and still had a struggle transitioning off them.
If people haven’t been there, it’s really hard to know just what the issues are.
Ativan and morphine are the euthanasia cocktail, my Seasoned Citizen friends! If your “doctor” suggests that combo, RUN! or bash their shins with your walker and make a getaway as best you can.

Lots and lots of alcohol being bought and I think it might be for some a way to satisfy an addiction caused by prescription drug side-effects and after-effects.
My wife is a certified pharmacy technician and people with 8-12 prescription fills a month is common and 30 scrips a month is more common than one would think.
I spent 35 years in pharmacy. I saw the same thing. At some point the doctor has to intervene and either recommend surgery or whatever will fix the ailment or determine that the patient is addicted and needs help.
The people working in every pharmacy around me are not impressive.

People prone to addiction will find something to be addicted to: gambling, porn, hoarding, even exercise.
You should watch the series ‘Dopesick.” You’ll gain some understanding of what happened. You call them drug addicts. They were injured people prescribed oxycontin, which everyone was told was safe. The FDA lied. These people became addicted because they were deceived. Kind of like with the clot shot. Only oxycontin worked much faster.

They would prefer to keep wages low here, and keep wages very, very low over there. I agree, this is getting ridiculous. I had to work with some during my career. They are sneaky, deceiving and feel they are superior to any other race, and they are virtually impossible to work or deal with. I had a very difficult time when I had to work with them.
