Democrat Louise Lucas, 82, charged with drug trafficking claims she’s the victim as she releases defiant statement: ‘I will not back down’
The 82-year-old reportedly surrendered to authorities on Thursday, and Lucas is charged along with a half dozen other co-conspirators including her two daughters and her grandson.
One of those daughters, Lisa Lucas-Burke, is running for Portsmouth City Council after serving as the vice mayor there for years.
At a press conference on Thursday, FBI Director Kash Patel accused Lucas of accumulating almost $5 million ‘in ill-gotten gains through her criminal enterprise.’

Mike Davis, founder and president of the conservative Article III Project, sent a letter Wednesday asking the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division to investigate Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), the Washington Examiner reported. The letter, addressed to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, also urges the division to scrutinize Slotkin’s staff, donors and colleagues.
Davis, who was once in the mix as a possible attorney general pick, took aim at comments Slotkin made Oct. 13 during a University of Chicago event with Vox editorial director Astead Herndon. There, the Michigan senator said she wanted to pursue “signature cases” tied to Trump and those around him.
