Apparently, according to multiple sources citing a TSA internal memo, U.S. airline travelers no longer need to remove their shoes when going through the security screening process. [There’s nothing on TSA website]
Perhaps the USA will soon catch up to The Netherlands, where everything including your personage are scanned as you pass through the newer tech systems/gateways and you do not need to take off anything, nor remove anything from carry on luggage. It makes travel much faster.
YAHOO – In a sweeping update to airport security procedures, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has made a significant policy change: all travelers, regardless of PreCheck status, will now be allowed to keep their shoes on during security screening.
This marks the most significant revision to TSA’s screening process in more than two decades and effectively ends one of the most notorious post-9/11 requirements for air travel in the United States.
[…] Starting Monday, July 7, TSA officers nationwide will begin implementing the updated protocol. The policy applies to all U.S. airports and all passengers, whether they are enrolled in TSA PreCheck or not. The only known exception at this time is for individuals who are unable to present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification, a federal standard that was fully enforced back in May 2025. Go through the tsa barefoot and check them feet.
I’ve long said that TSA is what you get in a country that doesn’t win its wars.
The entire system is despicable, and all the proof you need that the last 50 years of non European mass immigration has been a total failure.
Invite the third world in large numbers, get third world problems in large numbers.
I will never not despise the TSA and everything it represents.
Bottom left pic. Why is Governor Jazz Hands using two canes?
LOLz
I thought the same thing! He’s probably requesting a full-cavity search!
Maximum leverage. LOL
It’s still harassment. And We The People NEVER gave them the authority to harass the citizens they swore an oath to SERVE.
Drop TSA and maybe I might fly commercial again.
Ditto, Rock Salt Justice!
Matter of fact, a few years back, two of the ladies questioned me as to why I refused the scanner so I gave them an ear full re the accumulation of radiation. I followed by saying, “People will decide to drive rather than go through the intimidation, and one of the ‘ladies’ said, “We’ll have check points from state to state!” Yup. There it was… laying out a Communist agenda loud and clear!
I guess they’ve already proposed end-to-end tracking on roadways. They may not even need the checkpoints.
Already done.
License plate scanners everywhere.
Even out in God’s country!
Recall that there were serious discussions taking place in the Dubya and Oblahblah administrations about expanding the TSA’s mission to include bus terminals, subway/train stations, arenas, stadiums, etc.
I remember when we use to correctly refer to the TSA as security theater…
Now we’re just grateful we can keep our shoes on.
It’s amazing how far most conservatives have fallen for big government being acceptable.
Who says we have fallen for it?
What is the practical alternative?
Boycott the airlines. It would take about a week for the screaming to start and a month to make TSA go away. I have been doing this for 23 years but it doesn’t work since it is only me.
DS would then bomb a flight and the peeepul would be screaming bring back TSA.
Well.
I saw a lot of this working at an airport for almost two decades, before and after TSA.
Folks don’t remember the fear that gripped the country in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. I saw several people scared to death that they would have to board a plane a few days later. Crying, the whole bit… terrified out of their wits.
In the aftermath, the TSA was born, and it seemed to attract all sorts of what I’d call oddball folks with a wide variety of “security” backgrounds. These weren’t the workers, they were the “suits” who lurked in the background, ready to pounce on any uniformed member that strayed even slightly from the program. They turned what was a legitimate attempt at securing flights into a D.C.-centered, cookie-cutter performance where the slightest-and I mean slightest– decision had to be cleared by the bosses in Washington. And that evolved into, apparently, what you see today.
I’m no longer in that line of work, and I don’t fly. I feel sorry for anyone that does.~
Never mind the shoes. I hate them groping my chest.
How about dropping the TSA?
And, YET, ILLEGALS (NO ID, NO NOTHING) can take flights ANY and EVERY where across this USA….
Don’t intimidate and threaten me and swamp over me and examine me WHEN this crap exists.
There’s a meme for that…

“It’s not ghey if it’s TSA”
Don’t emulate The Netherlands. Do Israel. Profiling plus armed people on every plane and they haven’t had a hijacking since Entebbe in 1976. Armed people would cost a fortune if they were government people but we have lots of armed citizens who can’t do that on a plane. Even properly motivated unarmed people can do the job. It took the Flight 93 people only 30 minutes to get organized and whatever flight the shoe bomber was on reacted instinctively and instantaneously
This will not remove the shoe bomber from my all time a***ole list. Old people can’t tie their shoes very fast. But at least young people will get old and discover that they can’t do that either when they get old. And they will get old. The TSA has done them a big service by eliminating this stupidity in airports.
Now maybe we can just get rid of the TSA altogether. Government can’t even run a choo-choo train, a post office, a healthcare system, an airport flight control tower, or a weather service without completely screwing it up. Why would anyone expect they can provide security at an airport?
These are exactly the reasons why the Founders decided to limit Government authority as much as possible. Of course, the vast majority of the free people believe Government gave them their Freedoms.
Rule was if you were over 75 you didn’t have to remove shoes.
Not there yet. When I get to 75 everyone will already get the same break I would get. And that is about the story of my life 🙂
TSA, what a joke. A friend’s younger sister worked for the TSA, and she climbed pretty high in the organization. She was/is a confused, bitter lezbo, and she was eventually fired for being stoned on the job. She actually walked through inspection with a joint in her pocket, and get caught. These are the people groping you!
Mensa prospect. LOL
The TSA is solely responsible for screening passengers with checked and carry-on baggage at 450+ U.S. airports.
From TSA’s beginning, this responsibility should have been turned over to the US Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard is currently maritime, it’s military and it’s a multi-mission service.
It already operates under the Department of Homeland Security.
Its maritime law enforcement mission can be EASILY expanded to aviation.
Its procedure & process oriented as well as military, therefore, lapses of judgment, decorum or ability by a Coast Guard screener can be reviewed & dealt with immediately.
No union related encumbrances.
