Tariffs simply work. This is no longer a debatable issue, and decades of Wall Street gaslighting collapses as the outcomes of tariffs generate visible economic benefits for all Americans.
South Korea-based Hyundai and President Donald Trump announced a $20 billion investment in US on-shoring on Monday, which includes a $5 billion steel plant in Louisiana,
The $5.8 billion Louisiana facility will be the car manufacturers’ first steel manufacturing facility in the US and will produce more than 2.7 million metric tons of steel a year and create more than 1,400 jobs. It will supply steel to auto plants in Alabama and Georgia, Trump said in remarks at the White House.
The announcement at the White House included President Trump, Hyundai Chairman Euisun Chung and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. WATCH:
The Hyundai announcement comes as the highly anticipated April 2nd “reciprocity tariffs” are scheduled to begin against all nations. For the EU this means an end to the 80-year-old Marshal plan of economic benefit.
Effective April 2, 2025, the U.S. will begin a process of reciprocal tariffs on imports from all nations with tariffs against U.S. products.
If a nation charges a 20% tariff on a U.S. good, in combination with a 20% non-tariff trade barrier, President Trump will calculate the financial impact and then reciprocate with a 40% tariff put on that nation’s goods being imported to the USA.
Globally, all nations are calculating how to deal with this issue. Hyundai’s best position calculations end up with this announcement.
President Trump is encouraging investments in American manufacturing, with similar announcements being made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and Japan’s SoftBank.
Apple said last month it would invest $500 billion to expand facilities, manufacturing and projects across the United States over the next four years. The announcement appeared to be aimed at helping the company avoid new tariffs on goods imported from China.
Oracle, OpenAI and SoftBank also announced in January that they would team up to create a new company, called Stargate, to grow artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. Together, the companies plan to invest $500 billion into the project in the coming years.

After WW2 Europe put up tarrif barriers against goods being imported into Europe.
The tariffs let Europe rebuild their manufacturing base. The tarrifs worked. It was called the Marshall plan, America did NOT put tarrifs on European goods coming into America.
Europe is rebuilt. Trump is ending the marshal plan by matching, reciprocal tarrifs.
And for ONCE, why couldn’t we hear, “Thank you, people of the United States, for helping us rebuild, 80 years of forgiven tariffs, so generously given.
We understand your reasoning now, and we are grateful. We wish you well, and will continue to support you in your efforts to restore your economy”.
NOT ONE EXPRESSED ANY GRATITUDE OR UNDERSTANDING, just threatening, snarling, sulking, ad nauseum. We should have let them rot in their rubble.
It is disheartening to consider the titanic amounts of American taxpayer resources, both blood and treasure, that has been grifted and squandered by our traitorous enemies, foreign and domestic, for the past 80 years. Unbelievable!
As just one marker, I wonder what our interstate highway system would have looked like today if the money we lost due to “rebuilding Europe and Japan” would have just stayed home. If you are rich and stupid, you will sooner or later not be rich.
We could have rebuilt Europe and Japan without hurting ourselves at all. Our own politicians and others in our society are to blame not the money we spent helping others recover from a devastating world war.
Trump is actually proving that true with everything he’s doing. He’s proving everything done to us was either allowed to happen or caused to happen by our own politicians and leftist policies through out our society.

“Democrats would never put up with a Liz Cheney in their ranks. If we had a Free and Fair media, instead of a corrupt media, those election results would never have been allowed to happen. The proof of irregularities and fraud is massive!”
–Donald J. Trump, Nov. 10 2021
Hyundai should replace all the engines with oil consumption issues they sold here before building more anywhere.
Just my opinion here, but we saw a similar problem with Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM. Their designs were good, but most production was outsourced to China, who then produced horrible garbage. Long story short: KTM went bankrupt last November, while China continues selling their KTM clones under the brand “CFMoto.” They tried to take over KTM’s western markets, but it didn’t quite take. However, CFMoto is doing great in eastern markets.
Those Hyundai engines were also Chinese garbage. By moving production to the US, they can hopefully avoid further communist sabotage.
We are going to have to learn to make good stuff here in the US. Just because we did it before doesn’t mean we can do it now. Do we have reasons for being confident?
We need quality cars. Not these.
We need jobs let the product prove itself in the marketplace.
I hope US Steel, Nucor, and other U.S. owned steel companies are paying attention, especially US Steel because the executives seem to be more concerned with their own personal wealth than with the efficiency and profitability of the company.
The municipalities where those steel companies are located should be very concerned and get their heads out of their collective asses. Allegheny County, where US Steel is located, could not get its act together to approve permits for improvements to the Clairton Works coking facility. A billion $$$ investment down the drain. Idiots.
Fabulous MAGA!
