After a daring maneuver, the Russian military have completely surrounded Ukraine forces in the Kursk region. The Ukraine soldiers seemingly have been instructed to continue trying to fight on behalf of Zelenskyy.
President Trump is asking Russian President Vladimir Putin to spare the lives of the Ukraine troops.

The Kursk Tweet appears to be for public consumption. It certainly appears to be a strategic message, likely coordinated by both the U.S. team and Russia.

I am not, and never will be a Putin apologist and I have made posts here and elsewhere that corroborate that position. In fact, I believe Tucker Carlson’s interview with Putin alarmed me to a great degree when Putin’s first 15 minutes, at least, chronicled the historical links between the Ukraine and Russia. To me, this was nothing more than justifying Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine.
That said, U.S. foreign policy, created by the IC and Democrat’s since the fall of the USSR has done nothing but infuriate Russians. The Democrat Party, RINOs, and their lackeys started their theft of nations, using Russia’s treasure and natural resources during the Clinton and Yeltsin years. Much like they did more recently to the United States. Utopian, statist, collectivists are very similar to the Nazis, another socialist government.

Not true. First, the definition of “mercenary” in Additional Protocol I, Article 47 is restrictive:
“This definition is very restrictive because it requires that all six conditions be cumulatively fulfilled. In addition, the definition requires evidence that a person accused of being a mercenary is “motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain” and is promised “material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces”.”
Second, even if someone meets the definition of “mercenary” they have the protections of Article 75 of Additional Protocol I.
