Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Well tomorrow morning an approximately 2 year old rescue Cocker Spaniel will be coming to his forever home and family here. There by changing his and our lives forever. I look forward to taking him on his first walk around the 5 acre area that will be his new digs. He will not run free however. Always on a lead or leash when out of the house. We have coyotes, fox, skunks, coons, possum, and deer that trapes these grounds also.
And Sherry is quite excited. She is busy getting ahead of her house work so she can give him her undivided attention tomorrow. I know he is going to good for her and Geisha the Cocker. Now Gabby the cat will have to go through her own transition but I’m confident she will adjust well and adopt Buckley into the family just as she did Geisha. But you know cats. They work on their own schedule.
Does anyone here have any experience with those wireless electronic dog fences? I’ve been thinking about purchasing one but they aren’t exactly cheap and I hate to waste my money.
Hello Rah,
My wife Karen is a dog whisperer of sorts. She’s a certified judge for herding events, and her Bouvier des Flanders Winning Tickets Blue Moon (Wendy) was National Herding Champion several years ago.
She reports that while dogs can be trained to stay within the e-fence, it won’t keep the other critters out. A neighbor’s dog required so much “training” to the e-fence that he got burns from the shock collar. Trained dogs may also race thru the e-fence chasing an animal, but then not be able to return to the e-fenced area.
We use 10 x 10 kennels (that can easily be combined to 10 x 20 or larger) with paving stone floors for when the dogs must be left out unattended. Parachute and camo netting from the army surplus shades the kennels.
I’m amazed at some of the dogs in my county
There are a lot of people in the country that let there dogs live outside .
It puts the dog in a bit of a pickle sometimes depending on what else may be wandering around
But warm spots are common and a lot of dogs like it .
A lot of my buddies have cages on the back of their pickups that can hold a dozen hounds.
Some people think it’s cruel but it’s not really.
They absolutely love it .
They know where they are going.
I got other buddies that think the guys with the dogs are hunting the wrong way.
It ain’t the wrong way , it’s a different way
Different strokes .
Like the treehouse
Different is not bad
It’s Good
We share what’s different

Hi, agility addict here with shelties…your wife will understand….!
I had not heard about burns from the shock collar, so that is another negative.
Thank you for this info.
Daughter and son-in-law put up a 7-foot privacy fence and it is so nice. I feel safe and secluded in that backyard and I think the hound enjoys it too!
One of my boys lives on a big farm and he used a “shock” collar with his dogs. One is a husky and the other some kind of mix with hound and who knows what else.It seems cruel, but the shock is minor and he only used it when they did not mind and come back when he called them.He would press the shock briefly, and the dogs would return to him.
Now both dogs can go out without the collars and stay within their boundaries. It is less expensive than a whole fence and seems effective as a training method. They are people friendly and sit on the wall or explore the fields with no problems.
Husky’s and hounds
Very nice dogs
Dogs are so smart
And it’s fun to have em around ,
Sooo
Gotta keep ‘em safe
My three very rarely leave my sight unless I’m out
I keep them safe
They keep me safe
It’s a win win

I went with Shepherds cuz they got a mean streak in em when it comes to keepin me safe
They shadow me most of the day

Good afternoon, Rob. One of my customers has the wireless electronic dog fence for her five dachshunds. She says she wishes she would have gotten it years ago. She no longer has to chase dogs out in the fields and horse pastures trying to catch them. They each have a receiver on their vest and she has no problems with them getting out of the fence. She does not use a collar on her dogs, has always used a mesh vest on them. She Loves this fence.
Thank you all. A dashhund, being a smaller dog, I would think is unlikely to charge through the fence. However I have always thought that larger dogs will if distracted enough. Cockers fit in-between and so that was the reason for the question. I have seen Geisha get distracted enough to run hard and get jerked by by her lead when she see’s one of Steves barn cats. It is a good thing she hasn’t ever caught one because I know she would get torn up if she did. Those cats know exactly the limit of her tie out.
As for other coming in, I am aware of that. However we let Geisha out on a lead to do her business, but at night we will walk out with her to make the coast is clear before we go back in. She will come to the door and bark when she is ready to come inside. Have not had any problem with that system so far.
I just want the dogs to be able to run a bit and play without their leads getting all tangled up.
Rob
Did you get the new dog yet
Or is that tomorrow ?
Monday morning!
About 10 years ago, a coworker of mine successfully trained his somewhat anxious and very energetic 3 year old 115 lb. large dog to stay within the invisible boundary of an electric (RF) fence that bordered their ~1/2 acre backyard. My coworker described using a sequential process over many weeks, that I found to be described fairly well in this website: https://www.wikihow.pet/Train-a-Dog-to-Use-an-Electric-Fence
I’ve had a couple people tell me they work
Bet they look good in them vests
That’s a great idea
Love wiener dogs
So cute
Miniature dachshunds are the best.
Long haireds are quite nice
My former bosses had an e fence for their gorgeous German Shephard. She would simply go right through it because her need to be with me (other people) was greater than the pain she felt.
She came to me literally peeing on herself, cowering, like she just had the tar whipped out of her… and I placed my hand in the collar thinking it wasn’t working until I realized she was urinating all over herself… because it WAS working and she was getting the shock of her life on her neck.
She was such a sweet sweet dog. I couldn’t imagine her running away on her own. She was too old to be a runner.
Maybe some good solid training won’t require the expense, but then again you’re not adopting a puppy.
They might not be good for every dog . I was always against them but I’m a good listener and I’m hearing different things .
Peeing on herself
Poor dog
Not good
Seems you did that yesterday whilst laughing maybe
Not sure but I think you might have
JWoo
I’m joking
But I think you said something when you were laughing , like
“Stop it im laughing , don’t make me pee”
We had the IF for our 2 border collie/golden mixes.. It worked for quite some time but one day they charged right through it and once they figured out the pain was only for a brief while they took the risk of going through it when they really wanted to. And it has been mentioned that they don’t have the same incentive to go back through it to come home. We got a chain link fence with the green plastic coating and enclosed about a 1/3 acre – works great.
Congratulations on the new addition to the family!
AKC and others in the dog world do not recommend them. I think there are different sources which give the pros and cons.
I have a suburban lot with a tall fence which is what I prefer. The following link gives some good info about the shock the dog gets when leaving the yard and trying to return .
https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/the-pros-and-cons-of-invisible-fences-for-dogs
They keep, hopefully, your dog in, but the coyotes can cross the line and get to your dog, who ‘can’t’ leave. and somewhere in Schaumburg, a coyote got over someone’s six foot privacy fence.
Coyotes are a nasty bunch
Yesterday we were running the A/C and now were running the furnace.
At least they both run!
Boom!!
One nice thing is that this is going to knock the crap out of the bugs. Already saw a wasp trying to get in the house via the back door when we let Geisha out. He wasn’t flying, but walking trying to come in over the threshold. It is 46 deg. here now with a windchill making it feel like 37.
Up in the upper plains it has been a never ending winter for them. I -80 across Wyoming has been closed about as much as it has been opened this winter. So I reckon I shouldn’t be complaining. I just wish Sherry hadn’t already cleaned up the fireplace insert already and had me take the wood and rack out to the lean-to. We could be using it on and off for the next couple weeks. Keeps the gas bill down.
Why wouldn’t they be ? That is unless we lost power, which has already happened 5 times this year so far. And if we do, I’m going to have to drag in some wood and get the fireplace insert going again! Yep, a whole house on demand generator is in my future.
I was in Chicago Ridge, we had sleet, then snow, then rain.

And NOW?
I’m about 6 months into my new job as a drain tech for a rooter company.
Im fortunate to have two other techs in the shop who are Christians.
If you can deal with the poo, and the hard work, this is a great career for a Christian.
Id say 50% of my customers are soooooo grateful for the work I do.
I receive a tremendous amount of gratitude and respect from these customers.
The other 50% are a mixed bag.
Main point: Im cleaning drains so people can go potty, take showers, do laundry,
basically live their lives. Many customers are ecstatic, relieved, HAPPY that I did my job and helped them.
I make good money doing it, too.
I never thought that cleaning out drains and sewers could be so rewarding.
Im blessed.
Great attitude, and glad it’s working for you!
I had to have a guy come and take care of a drain for me in January. It ended up he made a bit of a repair along the way.
It was under the house in the crawl space. There’s a bit more room than in other places I’ve seen, and that’s a plus.
I’ve had two fairly ugly back surgeries. I was more than a little concerned that if I got under there, I’d have trouble getting back out.
I ain’t old enough to be old yet, but I’ve got mileage. Lots and lots of mileage….
Bottom line? I’m glad there was someone like you who could come out and do the job!
That’s exactly the kind of thing that I do. People can’t always fix their own 1st world problems.
No matter how much a customer knows, or has tried, often times, in the end they call people like me to fix the unfixable.
I actually enjoy the challenge of problem solving, and I have all the tools to get it done.
Every once in a while I will diagnose an issue that I’m not capable of solving on my own.
But we have a whole sewer excavation and plumbing side, so I can refer the customer to something above and beyond what I can accomplish out of my van.
I walk with God, of course, and pray before every job.
Sometimes I get that “camera clear”, and I chalk it up to God doing me a solid.
God bless you Greg1, and may your sewer flow like the Nile.
Strange to see your post tonight. Yesterday a floor drain in the lowest level backed up. No sewer smell but I think some stuff maybe lint from the washer above from the washer above floor. Idk. Not sure what the issue is or was. No issues today. Will keep an eye on it for now. Have to agree…plumbers and septic systems workers are not appreciated appropriately en masse.
Seen crazy sh
I bet
What’s the craziest thing you seen
Snakes
Spidees
Under them crawl spaces
Creepy crawlees
Crawlin around
I’m not afraid of sewage.
I like the poocano and the tube of toothpaste.
But yeah, the bugs get to me a bit.
The worst I’ve seen is a rat nest under a house, with cock roaches eating the carcasses.
That freaked me out. I shined my light in it and I thought I was having a blurry vision moment.
But it was the hundreds of cockroaches scurrying away from the mom rat and her dead babies.
And on that job, there wasn’t even a sewage issue.
The smell of dead rats prompted the customer to call.
No blockages. No problems with the lines.
That was a no charge, and a referral to a bug guy.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!!!!!
You are a blessing, Bobo…
My niece bought a lovely little hundred year old house and, then drain stopped up. No washing machine could be run,
no showers, toilets backing up… she was miserable
Her dad finally figured out where a mop head had been flushed and stuck in the pipe! He cleared it. Happy ending, very happy
She wasnt the one who had flushed a mop head. Wonder if that was why the house had been sold at a reasonable price
Hey Bobo,
We just had to have our septic pumped this past week and the guy who owns the business keep notes on each of his jobs and the experience with the owner. When my husband called him he said he would be over by 3 pm. He arrived at 11 am. Why? His son told my husband that he ‘had us down’ as really nice people to do work for, so we went to the head of the line in his schedule, he would attend to the other ‘mixed bag’ folk later. 🙂
