The entire system is bloated and needs to be eliminated. However, I will just note for the record; no one ever talked about the staffing level at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence until Director Tulsi Gabbard was appointed to head the agency and for the first time in history utilized the legislatively created power of the office over the entire Intelligence Community.
Several years ago, CTH was outlining the unrealized power of the office; we even went further and explained in detail what changes that office could make to rein in the larger Intelligence Community, including the CIA, and not a single person in DC was ever concerned about ODNI staffing level. Suddenly Gabbard started making changes, big changes, like removing the National Intelligence Council from the CIA and simultaneously the DC system started shouting about reducing the office. It’s a little, well, ironic I guess, in a DC way.
Today, Acting DNI Bill Pulte notes another round of staff removals:
[SOURCE]
WASHINGTON DC – […] Pulte’s announcement of a 30 percent cut, depending on the baseline for when the dismissals started, could amount to the elimination of more than 300 staff at the ODNI, which is charged with coordinating intelligence collected by the other 17 members of the U.S. spy community and overseeing their budgets. It comes the same day the Senate is expected to vote on his full-time replacement, current top Manhattan federal prosecutor Jay Clayton, as the next head of the ODNI.
[…] Though the precise size of ODNI is classified, Tulsi Gabbard said she slashed ODNI’s size by roughly 40 percent percent before resigning in June, leaving the office at around 1,300 personnel.
Trump quickly signaled he wanted Pulte to go further. When the president tapped Pulte to helm the office last month, he defended the pick by saying that Pulte would be “less shackled” to make cuts because he was only there part time.
Pulte considered sweeping cuts at the National Counterterrorism Center soon after taking over, but backed off the plan, instead firing a handful of Gabbard holdovers and reassigning roughly 50 career staff from the ODNI’s intelligence analysis hub. He’s since announced a series of cuts on his social media account, though the Trump administration has shared no detail publicly on the scope or justifications of any of those alleged reductions. And just like that, the Senate voted to move forward with the nomination of Jay Clayton!
I saw the mention of Pulte firing Gabbard holdovers and then I noted that statement came from Politico.
Obviously, Politico is butthurt.

Dr. D J Trump has just the thing!
Staff reductions are needed across government. If the communists seize control it’ll be government employees who will enforce their dictates.
They already have, don’t you remember Covid?
Why not a 30 percent reduction of the entire Intelligence Community instead of just the ODNI?
The bloat in DC is impossible for a human to comprehend.
When I was first hired as a Federal Employee, my Director gave me this advice:
“the way to become a successful federal employee is to need an assistant, and then your assistant will need some help, and after awhile you will have built a team to manage, so you will always be needed”
It isn’t enough to just fire a bunch of people, entire teams need to be evaluated. I can attest that there are massive inefficiencies and “work” going on that is window dressing only.
Pulse looks like Clyde Barrow.
Pulte
A new appointment paradigm to use in the face of a RINO Senate the refuses to give President Trump his actual picks.
Pick somebody who is a reasonable compromise, the RINO’s may or may not be so thrilled to have on-board.
Appoint a 210 day MAGA Temp who goes scorched Earth, until the vote occurs.
Now figure a way to do this with the SAVE ACT as originally written at stake.
I suspect the reason Tulsi G stepped down was more a real life physical security threat than her husband. But she is still available to be a 210 day Temp .. like say as head of the FBI.
Love Pulte! He’s a hatchet man who gets things done.
Get rid of the current do nothing Homeland Security Secretary next and move Pulte there next when he finishes with DNI.
President Trump won in the court to fire employees from the federal government. Why hasn’t Russ Voight been unleashed already?
Where is the info on the Georgia Ballots? I’ll tell you… in the hands of the feckless, corrupt FBI with Patel. Get rid of him already.
We are running out of time!
This is good news! May there be many more firings!
Every IC staffer laid off is another salary We The People no longer need to support.
Caution. “Laid off” may mean the staffer is returned to his parent organization, not fired, and still on the Feral payroll.
Excellent!
🪓 Buh-bye!
Does this include removing ALL of their special access and clearances ?
This is one of the major problems in the DS and IC removals because they walk away without a job but hold onto their privileges.
This should be standard procedure along with taking access keys and badges and freezing computer access.
How many of them belong in jail ?
Does he have the authority to fire people in the entire IC or just ODNI? He should be slashing the deep state in FBI/CIA.
The more cuts the merrier!
Good! Government shouldn’t have “career opportunities” for entitled, elite bureaucrats.
Even Jimmy Carter fired 30% of the CIA. With the CIA and FBI intact the next president will get boot stomped for sure.
