Is there some law that says we have to pretend that a politician was a saint when they pass away?
notably, Zelensky is in the congregation at the Lindsey Graham memorial event today along with the President and Vice President and many many others
geez, right now as I watch live TV coverage, he’s standing directly behind President Trump, 1 row back
geez
4th row back is what I see.
I meant 1 row back from PresTrump
Well that makes me more nauseous than I already was.
I fantasized about Zelensky being loaded into an unmarked van and flown directly to Gitmo never to be seen again. A girl can dream.
If the people driving the unmarked van wanted to make sure Z was never seen again, they would drive him to an Indiana cornfield.
Google Michael and Anthony “Tony the Ant” Spilotro. Enos, Indiana was their final resting place.
Z deserves every bit of that.
Zelensky would have known Graham well from Graham visits to Ukraine with McCain and Obama regime staff
The old saying “Do not speak ill of the dead” comes to mind.
I spoke ill of him when he was alive and I’m not going to stop any time soon.
De mortuis nil nisi Bonum!
“Of the dead nothing but good is to be said.”
It has always been my position facts are neutral. Well/ill are in the interpretation of those facts.
Therefore being factual is not speaking ill of the dead.
Lindsay was an unabashed warmonger. The human cost of his machinations was high & that is on his ledger. Accountability for that is between him & the Holy Trinity. I can only hope that he repented his sins & gave his life to Jesus & so was saved.
I don’t mourn him & I won’t miss him.
So well said!! Thank you for being honest without being mean…
😂 I’m a USAF brat as well so I’m definitely capable…
the legacy of Senator Graham
I like CTH and Sundance has provided amazing insight, but Graham was so obviously compromised, the fawning attention from the right about his ‘legacy’ leaves me questioning some people’s grip on ‘actual reality’.
Ooops, should have read further. Great minds!
You. Me.
Same same. Well. Almost.
I’ll spare the profanity that comes to mind on this murderous hellions funeral day.
👊✝️👊❤️🫵
Thank you for being honest without being mean.
Thank God and Greyhound they’re gone.
Kudos for remembering the title from a great Roy Clark song/
by your rules, one should only speak good of the dead
ok…
good, he’s dead
There’s some reason God called him home. I think it has something to do with Ukraine.
PLUS IRAN ???
It is clear that in his family great nobility was enacted. As with all of us, a mixed bag…but the warmongering and the proximity to Ukraine and its biolabs/trafficking/money laundering makes for troubling memories.
May he truly have grown in self awareness and humility and may there be pious souls praying for him.
Bette Davis, when asked to comment about the death of her rival Joan Crawford, said “My mother taught me to speak good of the dead. Joan Crawford is dead. Good.”
“Thou shall not lie” is an even older saying/Commandment.
Purely case by case.
Big difference between speaking ill of the dead and buying into the fiction being created about him.
Why are people so critical? I actually liked President Trump’s eulogy for Lindsey, and felt it hit all the right notes.
He didn’t paint him as a saint — he even said that not everyone liked him, that he was a “tough cookie.” He recounted some of the contentious times he had with him, including the cell phone doxxing — and PT did it with good humor. But he also gave credit where credit was due, and I felt it was a sincere, honest tribute to someone who could butt heads with him, but at times was also a staunch defender. I believe they had a strange but real friendship, and that despite their differences, he respected the man.
Not sure who wrote it, or if PT wrote it himself — but it was a wonderful tribute that ultimately pointed people to God, heaven, and what ultimately matters.
I loved it when he gave out Lindsey’s old cell phone number again! Did he have that memorized? 🙂 I think he is more awesome than people realize, with his brain that he kept from getting polluted.
I much prefer him to that Pothead Dullard.
YES!!! That was classic Trump. And suggesting people try calling it now… The whole eulogy was riddled with wisecracks like that. He was respectful when it was appropriate — but also hilariously real about the guy. I wonder if people commenting here about Lindsey being portrayed as a saint even bothered to listen to the whole speech.
have you ever seen any episode of any one of those detective/murder-mystery tv programs? [one example would be the NBC-produced ‘Dateline’, another is the syndicated series, ‘Forensic Files’] every murder victim is angelic, to the point of nauseating fatigue. C’monn, some of those people “needed killin”, don’tchathink?! 😳
That’s one reason I liked the movie, “Body Heat”, Ted Danson (best friend) says to William Hurt (murderer) “the more I find out about (murder victim) Richard Crenna, the more I’m convinced the world is a better place without him … but Oscar …(mutual friend, detective investigating the case) … Oscar doesn’t think like that!” Whatta great line.
Lawrence Kasdan’s best from a catalogue of bests … and the last time Kathleen Turner was hot.
There’s a lot of wisdom in that movie.
Body Heat was a classic!
Weren’t Romancing The Stone and the War of the Roses after Body Heat?
Kathleen Turner had not had all her illness and medication side effects still.
What I learned from those shows was that people murder their spouses for the inheritance and insurance money.
Remember Saint George Floyd’s funeral? The black preachers * dragged his gold plated coffin all over the country for a year. I believe he had at least 6 funerals in different towns . Till he was at laid to rest somewhere Texas I believe.
God called him home to the highest levels of heaven. It’s a lovely term for death. But George Floyd ?????
Black preachers funded by ADL AJC ACLU DSA YCL and numerous other Jewish communist organizations.
Didn’t know Lindsey was royalty?!?
He’s always been something of a queen
Ha!
He took care of his sister when she needed it. I admire that.
Politically – sometimes I liked him …sometimes I didn’t.
What else could he do?
He could have found another relative or family friend. I’m sure there were option…he chose the best one.
A nice family loyalty. It’s not unusual and not unique. Is that the good ness of his character?
To many things make no sense and the praise from PDJT towards Linda are baffling because he was not the man PDJT is describing.
We can let the Lord Jesus Christ sort things out.
Titus 3:2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men
Does it say that?
Yes. In the Authorized Version/ King James Version – the only one I use.
2 Cor 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
shewing all meekness unto all men… that’s part & parcel of what gotus here.
I have a verse (18) for you as well.
Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
You noted you use the authorized version of the King James. I used to read the KJV and just couldn’t get into the Bible. My go to is the NLT. The meaning of what you wrote on Roman’s 12:17 made no sense to me.
Here’s how NLT wrote it…. never payback evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Verse 18 …. do all that you can to live in peace with everyone..
I’m not really writing this to influence you. Perhaps somebody might have read the King James version and didn’t quite pick up the meaning because of the translation. I’m just showing that sometimes other translations present scripture, a little bit more plainly and easy to understand.
When I want to make sure that I understand the Greek or Hebrew meaning, I always refer back to the KJV to make sure I’m interpreting it correctly.
My 2 cents. Very pro-scripture regardless of the translation. The Romans verse you cited was spot on.
The OT is full of examples of warlike behavior when it was needed. Even from women like Jael, Deborah, and Judith.
(The Vulgate Bible is considered the first complete version of the Bible agreed upon by the Church fathers when they had the freedom to assemble and commission such a project. The Vulgate Bible is a late 300s AD version St. Jerome compiled in Latin over many years by translating Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic scriptures. It has the books of Judith and 2 books of Maccabees, which are among the most heroic and violent of the Bible. Our Protestant brothers and sisters may disagree with 7 of the OT books and additions to Daniel (the story of Susannah, Chapter 13, an excellent example of cross-examining lying witnesses of rank to save a woman’s life) and Esther, but that shouldn’t cause Treepers to beat up on each other. Just understand there is more than one answer to a question, and we may find out the right answer after we die.)
Joan of Arc and St. Louis the Crusader and Queen Isabella were “spare the rod and spoil the enemy” leaders who knew how to punish bad people when it needed to be done. Ditto with Richard the Lionhearted and Good King Wenceslas.
Likewise with Don Juan at Lepanto, and King John Sobieski at Vienna.
All of them were loyal servants of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Joan and Wenceslas died as martyrs. Richard and Louis suffered great hardships for their faith. They knew their earthly duty was to protect their people and protect brother and sister Christians, and they did it.
Amen
Shouldn’t you be teaching your Sunday school class?
I lead the congregational singing.
Come on now, do you really expect Trump to go up there and bash Lindsey.? There is a time and place for everything.
Globohomo Israel first politician is dead. I pray he got right with God before he died. Based on what I know, he has a lot of blood on his hands.
RIP.
Was Mitch there?
Mitch is already where Linda is now.
The Daily Double-two funerals for the price of one.
Who?
Sen Graham was an exceptionally OUTSIZED presence in SC, DC, and beyond. He defied the conventions of our times in so many ways.
I suspect his most enduring legacy will be his unflinching ability to NEVER be contained and/or constrained by ANY metric, be it conservative, liberal, capitalist, communistic, Christian, Islamic, male, female, LGBTWTF etc, etc, etc.
His indefatigable ability to do it MY WAY makes Frank Sinatra a quaint after-thought.
His LOAFERs will NEVER BE FILLED!
The fact that his coffin was draped with a be-wrinkled American Flag (like John McCain) as his (suspected) final remains laid in state at our Capitol is his final epitaph…… 🙁
PS….. He benefited IMMENSELY in his military service due to the Clinton era “Don’t Ask, DON’T TELL” policy that GUTTED the WARRIOR ETHOS of Our Military for over 30 Years . His military service during the Obama years gave him bona fides on Capitol Hill that fueled both credibility and firewalls that allowed his EXTRAORDINARY Freedom of Movement on International Stages…
Again, Lindsey was an exceptional One-Off operating in EXTREMELY GRAY AREAS who will fuel untold future case-studies of “How the heck did he do that”….. 🙁
R U saying he was more Maverick than McCain?
Lindsey always struck me as a GOOSE….. Bless His Heart!!! 🙂
They were best friends
..Most of the commenters do not have a idea why his coffin was draped with a WRINKLED FLAG…as bush sr……
Once you see it, you CAN’T unsee it….. 🙁
Seeing the reptile change its color depending on the requirements of the circumstance was quite the revelation to me. I became a harsh critic, and in true Lindsey fashion, he really didn’t care what his constituents thought until election time. But I hope he got right with God before he departed.
We have to play nice. His sister is assuming his seat.
Thank you Sundance, this is a beautiful service. The pain of a loved one passing is like no other.
We can be eternally grateful God is helping us.
Say what you will about him, but I’ll always remember how he exposed the Dem character assassination of Bret Kavenaugh and his very righteous indignation. Their conspiracy was most ugly and shameful.
This was his finest hour.
Yes he did. He was right on the money with his indignation, however, I will never forget him saying, “ I am going to get to the bottom of this.”. “I am going to find out who did this.”
HE NEVER DID.
Exactly. His “indignation” was part of the show.
All sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Just like Rand Paul and Jim….shoot forgot his name…another all bark and no bang
You mean Jim, who writes a sternly worded letter, Jordan?
He’s a putz. An embarrassment to stupid Ohio voters.
The higher they sing his praises, the faster we count the silverware. Or something.
they’re playing Fanfare for the Common Man – Copeland, I believe
I like that one … sparse, evokes portent, you can dance to it … I give it an 8-and-a-half
with EMMERSON,LAKE & PALMER ??????
Yep. Aaron Copeland is the composer.
The president had to say something about a person who was very important at times. You know the saying: if you have nothing nice to say about a dead person, don’t say anything.
President Trump was very respectful to Lindsay Graham.
Lindsay Graham made his own reputation. The president touched upon a few things like that.
Lindsay Graham is no more; let him Rest in Peace.
We are better for having lost him.
Funerals for senators and representatives should not last 6 hours.
Don’t those people have bills to pass and budgets to approve? Isn’t this one of the last days before they head off for a month long recess?
I’m sorry to read so many vile comments here.
How is this different from when they celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death?
“ So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, …”
Matthew 7: 12
Agree and thank you.
Agree.
I am not celebrating Senator Graham’s death. His sudden passing has caused a great deal of pain for his family and friends. To celebrate his death would be an affront to them.
It’s a different thing entirely to be honest about what kind of man Senator Graham was and what effect his time in office had on the world.
Please don’t use Charlie Kirk as a strawman to distort the truth that many of us are speaking.
Kirk was murdered. It’s a bit different.
Shame on you for false equivalency.
There is no comparison between those here who remember genuine unpatriotic and treacherous self aggrandizement which cost many lives and also contributed the the moment when opening investigations of the 2020 election was lost because of deep state collaboration with intelligence to create the insurrection in which the only violence was by the hand of intelligence and uniparty deep state.
We are equal in death.
We all will face our creator and give account of our acts.
Wrong. We are not equal in death.
We are equal in sin.
Each and every one of us has sinned, meaning that we all fall short of the Glory of God and are in need of a Savior.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”—Romans 10:9
The Great Gift of the Gospel-salvation through faith in Jesus Christ-is a gift we cannot earn.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”—Ephesians 2: 8-9
One of the great examples of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ can be found in Luke 23.
When Jesus was nailed to the cross, He was crucified along with two actual criminals. One criminal blasphemed Jesus. The other criminal put his faith in Jesus.
Read the account in Luke 23. Those two criminals were most certainly not equal in death.
We will all be in front of God and give account of our acts.
We, who accepted Jesus as Savior, He will advocate for us.
2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Matthew 25: 31-34
We are living patriots and Christians here and are more challenged to gut deep state because Graham was a contributor to the coverups.
I do not know his heart and am glad God has Graham’s care for his sister to mark against the many harmful acts he did toward our citizens.
Posthumously there are disclosures ahead which will require confrontation.
And I’m not comparing the two men. I’m talking about the reactions.
Seems we just get started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say, “SO LONG!!”
“There is an ongoing, vicious effort by a maniacal dictator to rewrite the map of Europe. Some American voices are saying “stay out – what happens there doesn’t matter to us.”
It all sounds too familiar. The last time this happened, it led to World War II. This time, the brave people of Ukraine and their incredible military are more than holding their own against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s efforts to destroy Ukraine as an independent, sovereign democratic nation.”
Those words were written by Senator Lindsey Graham on May 29, 2022 as the opening for an Op Ed he wrote supporting full funding for Ukraine against Russia.
Words cannot express just how dishonest those words were, nor can they express the level of bloodshed and brutality that resulted from the UniParty putting those words into action.
Lindsey Graham was a ghoul and he died with a lot of innocent blood on his hands.
I will not pretend that I didn’t get a little nauseous as I watched the first minute of President Trump’s remarks.
Graham and McCain were both active visitors to Ukraine during the Obama administration…when we now learn laboratories similar to that in Wuhan were in use
The original co-sponsors of the bill establishing and funding the Ukraine research labs were Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Richard Lugar.
Yes indeed. As a native Hoosier I am all too aware of the duplicity of Richard Lugar.
Dick Lugar had a great deal in common with Lindsey Graham. And that is not a compliment.
During Trump’s first term Jay Sekulow nightly broadcast disclosures about deep state in Ukraine during Obama occupancy.
Many Republicans were regular visitors.
Sekulow was suddenly forced to stop coverage on all of this blowing up when suddenly Trump impeachment kangaroo court dragged him back as one of his attorneys.
Similar to how Jan 6 a few Republican Senators were about to bring a bill to the floor to investigate very strange incidents during the election…when just then a fire alarm ‘accidentally’ went off and the intelligence and deep state plants began the ‘insurrection’.
Every time real gutting is about to be exposed they pounce on the left and Republicans show that there is no residual testosterone in them to maintain course and momentum to oppose.
Graham and McCain were unquestionably in Ukraine
They were also active visitors to Libya, before the Night of Benghazi. Politically wobbly and personally unmoored. Perhaps it’s the senator tiltle that requires the hypocritical praises of virtue?
Yep. Deep state and leftist infiltrated military is answerable for the lie of Benghazi
President Trump’s praise of Lindsey Graham can’t be going down real well here.
Being gracious is something that everyone should try to learn.
So too is being courageously honest.
Had he not died Senator Graham could well have faced overwhelming exposure if we actually follow through on gutting deep state
There is a time and place.
We are on a public forum discussing, not on camera as Dems are wont to do.
You see no cameras or signs or screams among us.
This IS respectful, nobody is withholding hope that he got right with God…nobody calling for him to be cursed for eternity.
So remind yourself of the sliver in your neighbor’s eye vs the log in your own before you denounce.
Today is the perfect time, and The Treehouse is the perfect place.
Find the best you can of someone but do not attach virtue at the cost of ignoring historic harm done
I pray all was made square with God and will continue to pray for him but some who should be prosecuted for treachery are escaping prison through death
Graham showed no propensity for mentoring next generation patriots to my knowledge.
America’s founders did not want geriatric bureaucrats but wanted patriotism to bloom in each generation.
Our uniparty geriatrics have had thought for no one but themselves since they launched into infiltration of our American infrastructure in their youthful 20s.
George Washington would see little difference between deep state and the egregious corruption of the King George era.
May the Graham family go in peace and his Maker will ultimately judge. I think Trump was the best orator for the occasion slipping in some well-timed humor which was fitting.
I will NOT miss the “Old Republican Senate” of McCain, Graham, McConnell. At all. They live in Thune who is the weakest human I have ever witnessed.
“All right team… You want to go home for recess? Then you have three days to debate and pass the Save Act that 80% of all Americans – a supermajority in both parties – want. Otherwise we will stay here.”
Pussy.
The only surprise to the funeral is the non attendance of Mitch McConnell. Being that both were longtime Senators it would have been notable had he attended. If he is still in touch and working for his constituents while in rehab then he could have easily been brought to the funeral in a wheelchair in a fitting tribute to his longtime colleague.
I am reminded of the funeral of Senator Henry Jackson (d-Wa) . The funeral was delayed in order for Senator Warren Magnuson (d-Wa) to arrive. Both senators worked together for many years.
McConnell is badly scorched toast, no better than Biden; we are witnessing the big stall/stonewall, introduced by and taught so effectively to Inside-the-Beltway denizens by the Clintons.
If McConnell has already secretly reached “room temperature,” it would have been kind of difficult for him to attend.
We all DO wonder after the spectacle of the “Weekend at Bernie”‘s propping up of Biden
this HOSPITAL DRAMA with Turtle is more secretive than deaths of Brezhnev,Andropov,Cernenko……….
When it is finally revealed that McConnell is deceased, and his memorial service is televised, the dialogue here at The Treehouse will make today’s discussion over Senator Grahamnesty look like a Sunday School picnic.
If you don’t like what I have said about Graham, just wait until you see what I have to say about The Turtle.
Graham was the most blood-thirsty warmonger in Congress. And there is plenty of competition for that title in that body.
So I find it disturbing that Trump is clearly so admiring of him. At one time I assumed Trump was just engaging in the usual dirty but necessary political maneuvers, but he appears to have had a genuine emotional bond with Lindsey Graham.
Trump has always tried to find good. He had initially thought his longtime relationship with politicians as a businessman and funding source would have made good collaboration with all
He loves America and its people and will not burn bridges . He has just made real effort to have an ally in Lindsay’s sister who IS genuinely hurting.
I just admire and respect President Trump so much, praying every time we see him on tv (although those moments are greatly reduced as we avoid Fox News, CNN and other “news” channels pretty much).
Now, if only President Trump would call on Mitch to check on his well-being (or just being, if you get my drift)
Graham was part of the Deep State charged with laundering as much money through the Milrary as possible. Right there with John McCain. But for Trump to give him this kind of send off, he must have become a double agent feeding MAGA the deep state plans.
I like speculating about that. Thank you.
Look at how Rubio has come around under Trump!
[Hurl]
When I hear President Trump speak of LG, I hear the word “politician” above all else; the President, I think, recognized LG for what he was, i.e., a politician above all else.
If it wasn’t for Lyndsay graham, we would not be in this mess in Iran. Warmonger.
Kissing ass to Lindsey Graham?
Jesus… this site has hit new lows; what a joke.
Who is next, John McCain?
Oh hush Mike, it is a mixed bag. We are doing okay here, no canonization in sight.:-)
When people who try, to the best of their ability, to do good and then pass, I think even if we had disagreements as to some details of their effort to do good, it is well proper and good to bend a knee and pay respects. I thought DT’s remarks were informative, kind, history rich, respectful and a good fit for the proceedings.
Agree. Amen.
Did Graham’s special partner attend the service?
Why do I get the impression that none of them cry at the death of one another? Or anyone?
Hard pass for me, sorry.
Hmm… I do. Or understand why President Trump liked this man… he was a two faced neocon
Something seriously wrong with a person who watches Lindsey Grahams funeral to see Netanyahu displaying exactly what country actually rules America. Why?
What exactly are we celebrating?
The Lindsey Graham Timeline Does Not Work… He Died in Kyiv
By Larry Johnson
Global Research, July 14, 2026
12 July 2026
“…I emphasize that the normal travel to Kyiv by members of Congress, members of NATO and the EU, and even Joe Biden is to take a plane to Poland and then hop a train to Kyiv. It is, normally, at least a 20 hour trip. In order for Senator Graham to have arrived at home by 2000 hours local in Washington, DC, he would have had to depart from Kyiv at 0700 hours local Ukraine. I have been unable to find any schedule that shows a train departing Kyiv at that hour….”
