I have a Ukrainian friend who has followedthe war daily through Twitter etc.
Most of what she shares with me are posts that look like Hollywood posters. Handsome men and pretty women in combat garb with very nationalist sayings (which is fine) or with kittens, cats, puppies, dogs and beautiful old Ukrainian grannies.
Something felt “off” from the start. I am supportive because her heart and soul are with Ukraine however the overall vibe for me, is very manipulative. I want Russia to win – not because I think Russia is right to have done this but because it will deal a blow to the West which in my books the enemy because of the w.e.f.

I did a stint at the Saker early on but bowed out because of the rabid anti-Americanism and pro-communist leanings of some of the central writers, Pablo Escobar and Michael what’shisname, the economics guy. Anyway, I think most of what you say is true, at least the take on Putin and NATO.
Here is how the a lot of uncertainty resolves for me, keeping in mind that we’ve been exposed to a consistent shell game for much of the past 50 years. The real enemies here turn out to be the old banking oligarchs in Europe and England that have been running the world for 4 centuries and who are behind the Oh, Great! Reset. We see them represented by Klaus Schwab, Soros, Obama, Gates etc. Obama and many politicians, not to mention the deep state, attest to US forces cooperating with the Davosian schmucks.
But the US is not a monolith, and there are many things going on here that amount to a counter-revolution, so I think it is wrong to make the US, as such, the bad guy. That’s Euro-commie propaganda to keep the focus off of them while they make a mess everywhere they can.
As I’ve argued elsewhere, Musk’s Twitter escapade looks to me to be an indication of someone who has broken with the oligarchs and is now generating counter-intelligence, just like Project Veritas. My son’s former girl friend is Ukrainian. She was able to get out of Kharkiv early on. The last we heard she was living in a refugee camp in Poland. Her apartment house has been destroyed and there is no going back anytime soon. She speaks Russian and her mother crossed back and forth over the border to go to work every day. She has always acknowledged that Ukraine is corrupt. As with all wars, the ‘ordinary people’ are the pawns 🙁

If you do any genealogy research on Black Sea Germans, you find that Ukraine does not exist as a country. It was all Russia. The vast steppes west of Odessa were settled by Germans after the Russians could not make a go of it. Ukraine (as a country) came into existence with the fall of the Soviet Union.
That being said, the Orthodox church has been there since the ~900s. The Church of Constantinople established it.
There has always been political fights between the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian/Russian Orthodox Church. I suspect this relates to the Great Schism of 1054.

“After the fall of the Soviet Union” – I am not so sure about this. My Russian wife, per her explanation, her father was Russian and her mother was Ukrainian. She is in her mid 50’s now, so she grew up under the soviets in Kazakhstan. Apparently the Russian language and Ukrainian languages are not really that different. Versus what I have heard and read about from supposed Russian/Ukrainian Experts. She explained to me, when she was a child, that the local kids would make fun of her Ukrainian relatives when they were visiting, because they “talked funny”. Typical children.

As we were talking more, I found out her healthy 35yo (age today, so 34ish when jabbed) daughter got CHF post-vax and was told she couldn’t have children.
We need to figure out how to unplug a lot of these people. I’ve talked with a lot of black customers with Abrams or Warnock signs in their yard (I’m in Atlanta once every 4 to 6 weeks) and I don’t think we’d disagree on much except for their position on how “helpful” the democrat party has been.
If we can get people to think for themselves and question what the “experts”, MSM and Uniparty say, then I don’t think they could out fraud the votes.

For example: I was at the gym the other day and saw an ad for psoriasis medication and because the gym had the closed caption on I was able to see a list of side effects that included, strokes and kidney failure for a rash medication. Then a public service announcement came on for the COVID vaccine and not one thing was mentioned about myocarditis or bells palsy or any other side effect. I then see the wheels start to turn. Or I mention how my small local hardware store was closed down, but home depot was open during covid. Then I laugh and mention home depot must be safe from covid. They say its probably because home depot is so much bigger that social distancing was easy. Yeah, but the local hardware store could have social distanced as well since the volume of customers was smaller. And home depot didn’t do any social distancing in the check out lines.

Missing from Tucker’s anaylsis is the fact that Ukraine has Orthodox church in it’s midst that is under the authority of Moscow. There is also the Orthodox church that is under the authority of Kyiv. The church under moscow is like a trojan horse in the city! It’s leaders answer to Moscow, it’s politically oriented toward Russia. It is foolish to act like it “just another church”. The idea that Orthodox church is being banned is ludicrous. The church under the authority of Moscow is being banned… the one with it’s leadership appointed by Moscow!
No expert, but my understanding is western Ukraine/Galicia peasantry was ruled by Polish nobility, and for various historical reasons Poland/Lithuania hate Russia and that also means Roman Catholicism vs Orthodox. Of course western Ukraine also hated the Jewish population though they tend to blame Germans (or maybe it is East Prussia’s fault).

I think there’s a bit more to the story. It appears that there’s been a long simmering schism within the Orthodox Ukrainian Church, with one faction supporting Ukraine’s leaders and another with strong ties to the Russian Orthodox hierarchy and the prelate who supports Putin unconditionally.
Religion in the region is either aligned with the political authorities or designated as an enemy of the state.
I’m more concerned that we’re flushing money and weapons down the toilet. We’re paying the Ukrainian civil service salaries for crying out loud. And when we’ve depleted our war stocks of weapons and munitions (see the Raytheon CEO statement about we’ve used up 13 years of Stinger production and five years of Javelin production) then see what happens in the Pacific with China/Taiwan, and Korea.
