I have read that there are actually two different Orthodox churches in Ukraine. The more recent in origin is the Ukraine Orthodox Church which some people don’t really consider legitimate and is smaller in the number of churches. It was started after the US-sponsored coup in 2014. The other is the Russian Orthodox Church which is the large majority of orthodox churches in Ukraine. In May, the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine essentially cut ties to the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia. The secret police in Ukraine (the SBU) are raiding some churches and one priest from Sevastopol was sentenced to 12 years in prison for giving information to the Russian military about Ukrainian troop movements.
There is some witchcraft/satanism being posted to Ukrainian Telegram channels.
The way I read it on several twitter feeds: The Russian Orthodox Church, not the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is being banned, with reason given that the ROC clergy are headed by Kremlin-compliant men, along with claims that Russian operatives were using ROC buildings as bases for mischief in Ukraine. That’s a big chunk of nuance, although nobody is looking good.
I have read similar things as well that are not really touched on by the main news. The Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kiril, is a big moral supporter of Putin and dislikes the increasing libertine values of the “West”. He and his predecesor Alexei II, did not like the inroads made to convert atheist Russians after the Fall of the USSR in 1991 and made various evangelical Catholic bishops persona non grata and were expelled from Russia. I think he believes in that ‘Holy Russia’ theory expoused by that inner circle ultranationalist friend of Putin, Alexsandr Dugin, whose daughter was killed in that target car bomb a few months back. (the guy said I think that Russia was destined to rule form Dublin to Kamchatka or something idiotic.) The background of the various turf wars over the last 1000 years involving the Russian and Greek orthodox churches and the semi-autonomous churches is complex. The Ukranians had wanted their own independent church away from being under Moscow’s control for a long time and it looks like they got the nod from the Ecumenical Greek Patriarch Bartholomew. That was I think in 2018. Kiril has cut ties with Bart. There was a youtube that explained this whole arrangement a few months ago that was concise. So Tucker may have assumed all the churches in Ukraine were loyal to Ukraine. It looks like the raids were on the Ukranian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP). The Ukranian govt. explanation is that some of these churches were spreading pro-Russian info or were hubs for recruiting pro-Russian agents that could compromise Ukranian troop movements, etc..
Of course it is not just Ukraine which had shut down opposition groups during wartime. FDR did not let the Bundists or Italian National equivalent groups just continue their rallies back East after Pearl Harbor. … which makes sense. They were rounded up. The Japanese-American immigrants/ Nisei were put in internment camps and their property confiscated. Overall, it is big mess. What you are not realizing is that during the 1990’s, the west was going into Russia as it converted from socialism to a more capitalistic system, taking over companies for pennies on the dollar, working with ruthless oligarchs they made rich, siphoning off resources for the west, and western bankers were making billions while the people of Russia were starving with 2700% inflation. Yeltsin was making one economic mistake after another, became ever more authoritarian, and the west refused to back loans that would have stabilized the economy.
When Yeltsin handed over power to Vladimir Putin, the country was close to collapse. Putin stabilized the economy, convicted the worst of the oligarchs in court, and got the manufacturing, shipping, mining going. He has prevented the west from looting the country and for that the west hates him and spreads all kinds of ignorant stories about him. And for that, the people love him because he has brought prosperity to the country and represents the values of ordinary Russians. He has surrounded himself with very capable department heads, unlike the US which has made government leaders a laughing stock of gender and racial identity.
The US and EU want Putin gone so they can go back to looting Russia as they have Ukraine. Poor Ukraine, mostly sold off or indebted to the west, thousands of its citizens killed because Zelensky followed western advisors whose only real interest was profit, profit, profit.

After covid I was not game for another psy-OP, so the Ukraine war was something that I never supported. The US manipulation angling for a war was obvious from December of 2021. Of course, now the State Department interference in the Ukraine over the last decades has been revealed whereby the US toppled a democratically elected government.
I had wanted to believe that we were the good guys, our institutions were glorious, and our government was better than all others. Now we have political prisoners rotting in jail, many having never been charged making a mockery of our constitution. It has taken time to come to understand that our government is horribly corrupt.
