Johnny Van Zant, lead vocalist of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and his brother Donnie Van Zant created a song to celebrate freedom and Florida, thanking Governor Ron DeSantis for his leadership over the past few years. {Direct Rumble Link}
As Governor DeSantis heads into a reelection campaign, he mentioned to Van Zant it would be great if they created a song for Florida in the same genre as their famous hit Sweet Home Alabama. The two brothers took the challenge and wrote and recorded “Sweet Florida.” It’s a catchy tune. WATCH:
Governor DeSantis joined Johnny and Donnie Van Zant this morning on Fox & Friends to discuss.
As noted in the interview, the video is presented HERE.

Sweet!!!!!
Made my Friday. Excellent 😀
What a wonderful song!
Wow I wonder if they could do one for President Trump!
Kid Rock plays golf w/Trump, maybe he could do one for Trump.
I love this Florida song by Skynyrd almost as much as Sweet Home Alabama! Thank you!
This is so great!
We need to make this song so popular it’s a hit that has to be played on the radio.
I was going to suggest the same thing.
It’s also worth purchasing because it emphasizes “freedom,” which as we know, is under attack by the crazed DEM regime and all of their auxiliary forces in the media and wokedom.
Simply. Awesome….!!!!
The Sweet Florida song makes me smile just to listen to it.
I think it’s because it is TRUE!
Sendin my vote from MN!!
Well, I hope Neal Young (and the rest of the LibTard/Democrats) will remember….
Southern man don’t need him around anyhow !
Oh, that’s good.
Love it!
Will drive the leftist’s crazier!! If that’s even possible?? LOL
It’s great that you are linking more and more to Rumble for your videos. To top that it is a music video on Rumble. Rumble has sadly been missing music videos up till now.
That is one very excellent video! It tells quite an historical story.
~The song complements it very well. 🎯
LYRICS
The press don’t like him but he sure does get my business
He stands up for what he believes
So don’t come down here trying to change things
We’re doing all right in the Sunshine State
Stay out of our business, leave our Gov. alone
Down in sweet Florida, our Governor is red, white, and blue…
Well, down in sweet Florida, he’s shooting us straight, telling us the truth. (Yeh that’s right.)
You can take it to the bank, he don’t care what Brandon thinks at the White House
Yeh, he’s fighting for the right to keep our state free
Well, he’s taking on the swamp and he’s calling out Dr. Fauci
He’s the only one fighting for you and me
Yeah, we’re free…
Down in sweet Florida, our Governor, he’s red, white and blue…
Down in sweet Florida, he’s shooting us straight, telling us the truth.
Well, we ain’t been locked down, we still have our freedom
We can still see our friends and family
Oh, our kids are in school, and we can go to church on Sunday
And it’s all because DeSantis knows how to lead (Now we’re free!)
Down in sweet Florida, our Governor he’s red, white and blue…
Down in sweet Florida, he’s shooting us straight, telling us the truth. (Come on now)
Down in sweet, sweet, sweet Florida, our Governor he’s red, white and blue…
Well, down in sweet Florida, he’s shooting us straight, telling us the truth. (Yeh!)
Down in sweet Florida
Well, he’s kicking it up, standing up down in Florida
He’s a military man with the courage to withstand ‘em all
Yeh, we’re free down in Florida
Yeh, we’re free down in Florida, our Governor he’s red, white and blue.
Get him to run for President. We need a fresh new energetic President!
I want you guys in Florida to give this man the biggest margin of victory for any governor in a long time.
Priceless!
This needs to be his theme song
FLORIDA
Land of DeSantis
Land of Freedom
That was very catchy. Very well done. I’m hoping he wins reelection by 20 points.
Great that famous entertainers aren’t afraid to go public with their support of DeSantis. 👍
Right on. : )
Great song. Hope he remains our Governor! Thank you to the Van Zants! And transplants the realize why they left the frozen north for the Freedom of FL .
“So don’t come down here trying to change things”. Transplants need to learn that lesson bigly.
The South rises again!
I will continue to say, Gov DeSantis is our greatest and possibly last hope for rescuing this nation.
Yep. I loved the song, but it seems at this point in time like a Presidential Campaign song fos DeSantis. . Not that I would mind DeSantis being the President of the United States at all. I do believe Sundance has written about this before.
I love President Trump. I’m wondering his role in the future? Methinks the only hope for election integrity in the US is for a new Cabinet position re elections be created in the US., led by President Trump. He knows better than anyone how the media, the spooks and disgruntled losers did their very best to “pave him under, ” and are still working to “put a load of tar over the potholes they have created in Our country.
I hope I am still alive to see a whole new rendition of the movie “The Untouchables.”
If these crooks can “merely” be put behind bars for “tax evasion” so be it. But I personally LONG for PUBLIC HUMILIATION of all these Crooks and Liars.
Oh well, not waiting for it. Justice is MINE sayeth the Lord. Kind of like what the Lord is doing these days. Amen.
This will now be my favorite Van Zant song since FREEBIRD!
Amen Brothers!
Now that’s righteous Southern Rock right there!!!
Let’s go Brandon.
Love this, great tune. I’m a very big DeSantis fan, and this man needs to be president one day (sooner rather than later). If he were my governor, I’d never want to see him go. But the country needs this man.
The Hollywood of the 1940’s and 50s was divided between Republicans and Democrats.
Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Taylor, John Wayne, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby etc.
Naming off the prominent Republicans was an exercise in memory, and little else.
The sharp turn to dilettante leftism began during the Viet Nam War.
Eastwood survives among Hollywood Republicans because he is a rainmaker.
Vince Vaughan made the fatal mistake of shaking Trump’s hand on camera. Yeah, he’s done.
Fascism means nothing against the State. Will Smith is a ultra-strong individual. Like fascism, say?
Ronald Reagan, who as Screen Actors Guild President in the 1940s, was a one-man wrecking crew that defeated the attempted communist takeover of Hollywood during that time. This was no simple task. The communists threatened Reagan’s life during this period, and Reagan, who was still a registered democrat and committed New-Dealer at that time, went to work armed for many months. Dore Schary, the head of MGM, and Olivia de Havilland were also anti-communist allies of Reagan, as were Jimmy Stewart and Frank Sinatra. There were many others who kept quiet, just for job security. Same as it ever was.
In Hollywood, as in America, there used to be such a thing as the anti-communist Democrat.
I’d say scarce as hen’s teeth, but I’d hate the waste the time of chicken dentists so looking!
Stellar!!!! Go, Ron, Go!!!
I love it anytime some aspect of our culture wraps its strong warm arms to embrace our side.
Love love love that they did this song for DeSantis.
It ain’t Free Bird, but it shore is catchy! Way to go Johnny
So good to see the Van Zants.. makes this Southern boy get that deep down fuzzy southern comfort feeling.. like seeing a favorite relative after many years..
I got a long listening history of their family’s music.. so did my friends.. and my relatives.. and my whole high school senior class.. way back then we all voted a Lynyrd Skynyrd song to be our official “Senior Class Song”..
and I remember in 1985 when Johnny Van Zant came out with an album simply called “Van Zant”.. I saw it while in a record store in New Orleans.. and immediately bought it.. without even hearing it first.. I knew it was good stuff.. and I still have it.. just saw it the other day..
and now this..
the music score is simply classic Southern Skynyrd..
how can you not like it..
..sure is a good feeling to see the Van Zants still around making music..
I have always been a big fan of the best southern rock band of all time, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Ronnie Van Zant (deceased) was a musical genius! Johnny and Donnie did a great job with this song and it is a good testament to Gov De Santis.
As a side note, I live near the airplane crash site and I hiked in to see the site after the accident and after the investigators were through and got some small pieces of the plane out of the soil. The pine trees were like a stair case going down to the final landing spot. To this day I think about the music that we missed out on that Ronnie would have created. I am thankful that Johnny and others stepped up to keep playing their music.
I am a huge fan, since the 70’s… I am so proud of Johnny and Donnie. You are 100% correct about Ronnie, he was a musical genius. I am thankful as well and have seen them in concert many times over the years.
My new wake-up song.
FABULOUS!!!
I ABSOLUTELY L-O-V-E THIS!!!
Floridians have got it good with Gov DeSantis, that’s the truth!
Let’s Go Brandon!!!!
My all time favorite band, is Lynyrd Skynyrd… This song makes my day!
As Brandon walks by they should play That Smell.
I love it!
Sending my approval from Arizona. Can’t wait to go to Florida.
NICE!
“If we let ’em take our God and guns, we might as well give up and run.”
Proud to be a free Floridian! Life is sweet here.
