The United Auto Workers are angered about a decision by Ford to move production of a new electric vehicle from Avon Lake, Ohio, into Mexico. Ford previously agreed to spend $900 million on a new product line for the Ohio plant; however, according to the UAW the location has shifted.
One way of looking at this change in direction from Ford relates to the cost of producing electric vehicles. First, it is far less expensive in Mexico (labor, environmental regulation, energy costs, etc); secondly, an outlook the new Biden administration will not strongly enforce USMCA compliance measures against U.S. multinational firms.
The UAW supported Joe Biden, but his policies will likely undermine their workers. Unfortunately, this was all too predictable. Partly because Biden-Harris owe Wall Street too much, and the multinationals are once again in control over the U.S. economy.
(Via Reuters) […] The UAW said Ford in 2019 as part of its four-year contract agreement had committed $900 million for the plant in Avon Lake, Ohio, including a next-generation product to be added in 2023, which the UAW letter said would secure the plant’s “employment well into the foreseeable future.”
Ford issued a statement on Tuesday that did not directly address the union’s criticism but said in a letter to employees on Monday that conditions had changed since 2019. A company spokeswoman said Ford had invested more than $185 million since 2019 at its Ohio Assembly Plant, including plans to increase capacity to build additional Super Duty trucks. The plant has about 1,600 UAW-represented employees. (story link)

There was a story on Toyota and Honda halting , or pausing production on various models and locations. Cited supply chain, port problems and pandemic as causes. Will they go with Mexico in the end? Coordinated? Leverage with AMLO? Just when I soon will be in need of a SUV. Got some time to decide. Had already ruled out Ford and the Ritzy lines.
https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/toyota-honda-to-halt-production-at-north-american-plants-2021-03-17
There’s an unritzy line of SUVs?
There are many “unritzy” SUV-styled vehicles that have replaced a large number of former sedans across most manufacturers.
Here is a slide show that lists some of these econo-SUVs from lowest to highest $……
https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/cheapest-suv-on-the-market
Thinking you found a parking spot then boom, Kia freaking Soul.
Ahhh, I hate that, lol.
Short cars need an 8-foot flag on the back to alert us to its presence.
I can tell you, but can’t tell you how I know, that American Honda was very forthcoming with the truth.
The supply chains were ravaged, the ports became a mess and their reaction to the pandemic was boneheaded… they shut down the plants, furloughed just about everybody for two/four weeks and then they had to scramble to bring people back in a hurry, restart the plants and kick the supply chain back up.
In a world of ‘just in time’ they pretty much shot themselves in both feet, both hands and between the eyes. Thankfully the bullet jammed when they shot themselves in the head and for quite a few months they were working with bandaged limbs.
They can produce electric vehicles wherever they want to. Nobody buys them.
Maybe this is true in some areas of the country .. but out here on the west coast, we just found out that its a law here that any new housing units must come with chargers in the garages. I asked a friend who is an architect and he said, sure enough. It is just going into law now. So, whether we like it or not, new cars will all be hybrids or electric. Somehow, they will get them forced on everyone.
Loriann – similarly, when I lived out west, certain towns were not allowing wood burning fireplaces in new construction unless it was to be the sole method for heating. Sad. The Karens took it further and I would need more than one hand to count the neighbors that converted their fireplaces to gas/propane.
I changed my wood stove to a pellet. I regret it. It only has a two day battery. Then what? It’s useless.
My wife and are going to refurb a fireplace in the den. We’ve lived in the house 12 years and never used it due to previous owners stuffed it full of insulation.
That’s different! Wood fires directly pollute the air. A charger has no affect unless the owner uses it.
PG&E have polluted far more air by wildfires ignited from a poorly maintained infrastructure … than my fireplace has EVER polluted. And that was during the summer when I everyone is outdoors. We all choked for weeks on end last summer. Thanks PG&E! For spending all your rate increases on “green” bullshit … instead of infrastructure maintenance.
I only use my ‘grandfathered’ wood burning fireplace when it is cold and rainy … in the winter … and the particulate matter is immediately washed from the sky.
Thank your local enviro whacko and state government for the lack of maintenance.
I disagree.
The charging system is going to add a good bit of copper (that must be mined) to the home.
Subdivisions being built with chargers in the home are going to require a good bit more power infrastructure be built to support the additional loads of all those chargers drawing power at once. >sarc on<We all know california has an abundance of surplus power built into their grid so this should not be too big a problem. >sarc off<
RAT global-warming voters like Jorizabeth
are incapable of comprehending your FACT-filled response … but thank you anyway.
They can mandate all they want. Still no power stations being built. Out of State power is limited to those instate. Squeeze time, e.g., CA blackouts and brownouts a here to stay.
I have a hybrid. I bought it because I liked it best of all the cars I looked at. And guess what? VA just added $88.00 to my registration because I didn’t pay enough jn gas taxes. You can’t make this stuff up!
Bought My 09 Prius when gas was bouncing off four dollars a gallon in Washington state in 2011. last two years been $75.00 added to my registration for Ev charging station installation. I have know way to hook my car to a charging station.Same excuse of not buying enough gas.
Oh, Oh… they are charging your hybrid for the cost of BEV (battery EV) charging stations.
Politicians are evil, greedy and deceitful.
That’s what you get for living in a blue state.
California was red and midwestern when I grew up here.
Invasion of sexual liberation, hippies and silicon valley degenerates from OUTSIDE ruined it….so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Massachusetts my birthplace same story. My Dad was driven off his farm in 1972, and I fled in 1977, never to return.
I lived in CA ’72 to 2019. I think it was the reconquista and voter fraud that ruined CA.
Now that they have ruined Cali, they are off to Texas! Yeehaw!!
Last Christmas a mouthy Lib in the neighborhood somehow got a LARGE load of Manure dropped at his front door…no one knows who did it and I ain’t talkin’!
I have lived in my same lovely SF/Oakland suburb since 1965. All the way up until about the 1990’s … my town was 75% republican … it is now 25% republican according to the latest voting statistics.
And the friendly neighbors have all turned into nasty Karen’s. What happened? All the leftists who used to live in the “urbanized” SF Bay Area have fled the multi-culti zoo they created … and have flooded into my lilywhite (and Asian) suburb. They wouldn’t dare put their kids in the SF or Oakland public schools. So they have turned my lovely suburb … a gross shade of nasty blue.
They’ve moved here and called us all “racists” … because we have lived here PEACEFULLY in our 85% white community. Now they call us natives … “racist”. I truly loathe these carpetbagging leftists. I live by my own convictions … they don’t.
Big government loves its taxes! Why else would they allow us to exist?
i’m not sure about allowing us to exist but certainly to work.
We have several EVs… not BEVs… the current Honda hybrids are all EVs because the electric motor drives the wheels directly ( iMMD does latch direct drive above 70 mph…. otherwise, the ICE is solely a generator).
We’ve had one IMA (not really EV), two iMMDs, one FCEV and now a PHEV. All Hondas.
I like the way they drive, I like the deep down torque with NO delay.. instant on. If your lane on the 405 is slowing down, and the next lane has a gap because of the Prius driving for mileage, then just CHANGE lanes now.. no need for the ICE and transmission to kick down… the drive characteristics of a electric motor driving the wheels directly is awesome. Torque NOW.
But I don’t charge the PHEV at home. Too expensive. We both have subsidized chargers at work, just 17KwH for 47 mile range, just enough to get a.. “car pool sticker”.. .and that’s why we got the PHEV. OK, OK, it’s also like 1/3rd of the cost per mile than the Passport and we needed to replace the Clarity FCEV going out of the lease.
And the Honda PHEV can charge the battery up to 50% from the ICE… so that’s handy too to manage the charge.
But, I guess Virginia simply likes to tax. I guess they forgot that you pay taxes on electricity too. Now, now… intelligence and brains are not a requirement for a politician.
I’ll stick with my 485 hp Challenger 😉
Getting on the highway with rah bearing down on me in his semi? Piece of cake!
My motto is: When in doubt, accelerate.
Yes … there is a momentary transition as the twin turbos kick in on my BMW 335i … which has NEVER caused a real time delay in my overtaking a slow moving Pryus driver clogging the passing lane “Slower Traffic Keep Right” … its the “Basic Speed Law”.
And whenever I watch a Tesla keeping pace with me … I smile as their top performance mode is dropping their battery life at a frightening clip. I can see the range anxiety as they grip the wheel and stare at their giant touchscreen
Where is all that extra electricity going to come from when the Commies “Green New Steal” scam keeps shutting down reliable coal fired, nuclear and natural gas fired power plants? They can’t even keep up with current demand on the grid much less everyone charging a car that will only go so many miles before needing another charge. IMO electric cars are a pipe dream or maybe a Communist dream to keep from people from traveling very far.
That’s why our great President of the United States, now in exile, insisted on manufacturing in the US (especially steel!), as well energy independence. All are key to national security!!
Joe Bananas is hell-bent on enslaving us to Communist China! Go figure!
Say goodbye to the middle class working man – again. Say hello to Rust belt II. Without question, they are out to break our Country…..and we have front row seats.
Nice to know that after 8 years of Obama, rather than the kind of outrage which produces outside the box thinking and courageous leadership, you’ve decided like good little socialist lemmings to just shrug and surrender.
Do note that Trump is not talking like any of you.
Joe runs nothing, he’s a figurehead. What I’d like to know is who makes up the Central Committee. Haven’t seen anthing on this yet.
Yup. We need to keep harping on this.
Our nation has been overthrown by an illegitimate government. Biden is incapaciated.
Who is in charge of the executive branch?
Obozo jarrett and their fellow scumbags dont think we have a right to know
This is what I would like to know too. It is pretty much the same people who ran the country during Barry’s regime….Lord knows he was not much more capable than Slow Joe so it has to be the same puppeteers.
The Fred Flintstone car is the wave of the future.
They don’t want us owning cars…or any other type of property/personal possessions…and darn it, ‘we’ll be happy’/s
All interstate travel by public transportation.
Only the Amish will have personal vehicles. Powered by biomass.
I see you have watched the reset video and their goals.
They are serious!
“Biden also wants to push for at least 500,000 more EV charging stations to make electrics more accessible to Americans as EV purchase prices come down (we think he means 500,000 charging ports, as there are only 168,000 gasoline service stations in America, according to fueleconomy.gov). Still, each fast-charger costs an average of $20,000 to install, according to Department of Energy estimates. Add it up, that’s $10 billion. Guess who’s paying for that? You are, Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer.”
“…..maybe a Communist dream to keep from people from traveling very far.”
BINGO/ WE’LL BE TOO BROKE TO DO ANYTHING LET ALONE TRAVEL…
They are convinced wind and solar will provide the necessary kilowatts.
Malarchey. THEY will still have access to everything they’ll deny us.
This right here. Look at Russia. And China. The people who have good jobs are all CCP.
Texas disagrees.
Here locally, the Watermelons were out demonstrating against an new solar farm. What they actually want is to prevent the serfs from moving around.
China’s coal industry is thriving…just like all their other completely immune from Climate Change criticism policies.
That’s when they (deep state establishment / communist / globalists) begin the “rolling blackout” phase of collapsing our economy, and further enslaving the populace. They are no longer hiding anything from us. Yet, there are so many of the people that are simply refusing to see this.
Even if the Watermelons would let new power plants be built which they won’t, the transmission infrastructure is not capable of supporting the demand of eclectic cars without massive upgrades which aren’t happening either.
Loriann, EVs are made for people in climates like California. Quite simply, they do not work in cold climates over even medium distances. Heating the cabin with the battery kills the range, and when it is -15 F air temp that becomes a real problem.
People who buy an EV get a $7,000 Obama federal tax credit otherwise nobody would buy them.
Once it’s mandated that will disappear.
Of course, radical thought: People COULD just not buy them and defund the unconstitutional freedom grab
Except rich liberals with cash to burn. Trust me, I’m surrounded by them here in CT. Frocking Tesla’s everywhere.
Indeed. Canadian government has floated the idea of banning sale of gas powered vehicles by 2030. This is Quebec, but I think Trudeau wants to make it national –
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-solidaire-cars-electric-1.4802077#:~:text=In%202030%2C%20the%20sale%20of%20gas-powered%20vehicles%20in,be%20required%20to%20be%20100%20per%20cent%20electric.
As I recall, Newsome had floated the same idea for CA.
The Shiny Pony already banned Shotguns without a Vote. He hasn’t banned crime though. We still have Scopes, too. Just sayin
That is UN Agenda 2030. Control the population UN 2021, then reduce the population down to half a million, move the population to big cities in 560 sq ft mixed use buildings by 2030. This must be the only time in history the government has been on schedule.
As many intelligent people, one being Elon Musk, have clearly stated…
We don’t have enough electricity, to all have electric cars.
Bring on the coal baby, bring on the coal.
No one discusses what creates the electricity the cars run on . . .
Ha! That’s a throw away! If my new home has 3 bathrooms and I only use one, how is that a problem? Big fuss for attention.
Is this a new state rule?
If so, I wonder if the Mello Roos will go up to 2% to pay for the necessary grid “improvements”, because right now our grid maintenance is following the Rural Guatemalan Model.
too funny. You can’t even keep the power on now! 20M more illegals in electric cars on the grid won’t help either. Not sure how you people live with it out there.
And don’t forget the mandatory solar panels that will charge your car overnight, in that garage … oh! … wait! Nevermind.
It’s State Law (Building Code) that every new home have photovoltaic solar panels,
Pissed beyond words about insane EV bullshit.
CA Newsom on already banned new gasoline cars in 2035. The car companies must comply, like or not. All over for climate HOAX.
these clowns running our country right now have to know that EV’s will never replace gasoline cars and trucks for all sorts of reasons. For one thing the power grid would never support it, nor would we ever produce an electricity with wind and solar, their ultimate goal.
I truly believe it’s far more devious and evil. Car companies can’t easily switch back to gasoline cars once they force electric cars on us. Then they’ll tell us that we can’t handle the electric demand. Now get on the public transportation now slave!
It’s gonna be alot of fun watching people trying to charge there cars with now power.
I’ll buy that for a dollar!
That’s Right , Steve !
Over my Gas-Soaked Hands
will they try and take
My Gasoline Powered Vehicle !
They should come with bicycle like pedals for all riders…after Biden gets through with his insane policies there won’t be any gasoline OR electricity!
Yes-Biden signed American Rescue Plan promising every teamster will get full pension no cuts.
I didn’t know there were any Mexicans left in Mexico.
On a side note, if I lived near Washington, D.C., I would dress up in my sombrero, serape, et al., and try to rush the Pelosi Pallisade and dare the gringo soldiers to thwart me! Ole!
ford is Anti America,
I’m always against UAW that I purchase HONDA,
The ‘Ford Foundation’ supports any leftist it can find. I do not want to support the Ford Foundation in any way, especially by buying anything from their money source.
The Ford foundation is no longer connected to Ford Motor Company, that is fake news.
John, you accept the leftist (even soros-associated) activities?
does the ford foundation own or vote any ford stock, or benefit it its price or dividend go up?
does the ford foundation lose anything if ford stock goes down or reduces dividend?
does the ford foundation employ or have any association/governance with or by significant ford shareholders/trustees?
john, one major purpose of ‘foundations’ is to keep control and money flowing, but avoid estate taxes.
don’t you know that?
I am sure Honda loves the profits it makes off of you to go to there economy and people and way of life. Its easy blaming it on the UAW when its really the American worker that REALLY GETS SCREWED and all the supporting businesses in the US that supply various vendor type support for Fords local production and lets not forget all the paychecks that the Ford workers earn that go to supporting local restraints, local entertainment, housing, utilities, bank lending which will be effected by all this and a lot of them will close down or move else where and the Taxes extracted from Ford and used for schools, and city improvements will be gone forever. So who is really anti American?
you probably meant local restaurants,b ut since those are null and void mostly it probably was a freudian slip that was correct when you said it went to support local RESTRAINTS…
don’t try lecturing on paying for things that the government is already nullifying.
Newsflash: Socialism doesn’t improve cities or schools.
man your response is so full of holes…most of what you are presuming taxes go for have not been going toward those and will not in the future.
Let me share with you the true experience of a UAW worker and Honda.
The UAW is more like a mafia/political organization. They don’t represent the workers. They represent what’s in their best interests. The UAW used to be against illegal immigration because it lowered wages. Then they welcomed them because they figured they could unionize them (thereby collecting dues) and use them for their socialist agenda. At least one third of our members were conservative and voted accordingly.
Honda has been building motorcycles and cars in Ohio for decades. They pay corporate taxes in Ohio. They have supplier plants in over 60 of our 88 counties. Plus they support other vendors as well. Their thousands of employees get paychecks just like Ford employees do. They spend them in our economy at local businesses just like a Ford employee would. They pay pay federal, state, and local taxes just like a Ford employee would. I like that Honda chose to build (at least some of their models) here since they sell them here.
In the article I read about Ford moving their plant to Mexico, it stated that out of Ford’s 36 assembly plants, only 8 are in the U.S.. Before PTrump, companies with overseas operations faced double taxation if they brought their profits back to the U.S.. Therefore, there was trillions of dollars “American” companies left overseas instead of investing in the U.S.. So, are Ford and other multinational companies really “American”?
The rust belt was created when the politicians, UAW leaders, multinational companies, and multinational banks sold us out for their benefit. I recommend you go back and read some of Sundance’s earlier articles on trade and economics like:
The Myth of Modern “Global Markets” – Understanding Why Renegotiating National Trade is So Critical…. | The Last Refuge
At the end of this article is a list of other articles on economics that should be read by everyone.
How did those UAW employees vote? I would love to here from them. Something tells me they told the UAW to pound sand.
the UAW is likely to expand its “membership” aka control within the cheap labor unskilled worker market in mexico.
They are looking to rebrand/rebranch, because it really just a growth tumor. Originated as a legitimate organ for worker representation, and now a cancerous toxic STATE control vector that eats away at workers interests.
Watch for it: UAW worldwide will become a powerhouse lobby group with the “mexico” immigration theme as it’s new badge of honor.
Me thinks many of these people may very well end up being jimmy hoffa’ed.
You start playing in cartel land, the bridge hangings and barrel roasting comes with the territory.
big picture: how does the biden administration and it’s corruptors expect to supply the massive amount of energy required for a manufacturing base in mexico, now that they have nixed the keystone xl and thus shunted the refineries in the south?
it is possible to accomplish this without a pipeline, but then that means that rail and trucking becomes the only means to supply it. (canada Fracking natural gas still remains the competitive edge with the highest profit margins), so you can’t get around the reality that proposing a distant cross border mexico manufacturing base unless you re-start that power and transmodal system at scale. (yes, “green” EV vehicle plants around the world remain FIXED to oil-based energy for nearly every joule of power needed to make “things”)
In my opinion, what this keystone was about:
disrupt the existing business relations and insert the biden special interest in all its parasitic ways. This is how the corrupt billionairs clubs roll….they use a sympathetic political party to run ruffshod over the competition. It would not surprise me if major corporations start shifting hands soon as a consequence of this radical market action. Probably those entering as new masters will have strong financial ties to china ! Why?
97 percent of all raw material for EV batteries are sourced in china! (remember the chemical lithium!) And China happens to have a global monopoly on many EV battery patents and the production/manufacturing/supply for these EV batteries..
just ask Elon Musk about this reality..
protip: Elon Musk is moving at WARP SPEED to ONSHORE EV Battery Production and manufacturing in TX….In the background, he will need a massive amount of political support from TX to establish a US base for this critically key component. It will drive a new economic model for Texas too. But One also expect this administration to attack this, because it’s a huge amount of money (trilllions, yes, trillions!) for the coming EV era!
No matter how you personally feel about EV cars, the EV powered everything will soon be ubiquitous to nearly everything in society. Just as few people ever imagined that cryptocurrency would every become a common thing, whether you are personally invested in the thing, it IS happening. (note: please do not dive into cryptocurrency…this is not a advocacy piece from me about virtual money….it’s still unregulated and more people get scalped than those media reports of insta-rich stories)….
anyway…what we are seeing is a big push across many industries and market to enter the new EV powered everything.
it IS the new growth market of any…let there be no doubts about this reality.
jmho
Read my post about Porsche developing a Synthetic Fuel that will enable the Internal Combustion Engine to be as clean as an Electric Motor!
SO, there are some people out there that see through this Electric Car Scam for what it really is… A Massive Transfer of Wealth from the Rich Countries to the Developing Countries that never did anything significant to advance Mankind!
I will do that. I’m a long time porsche fan….owned two vintage “bugs” and restored them to OEM….(I know, not really a porsche, but close enough for me).
I like new technologies, but one “thing” that is really attractive to auto evolution is electric….And not just from the power aspect….it’s just far less moving parts…..and of course, in the proper design, just massive amounts of incredible performance.
I have an old truck…no one will ever take that away from me. It’s just one of those sentimental value things. It works and it’s bomb proof, because it isn’t modernized and NOT whizzed out with all those gadgets. Maintaining it is simple, parts come cheap and easy…and total cost of ownership is ridiculously low.
But you know over the years, you see other things develop…improving all the time….and being a car wonk, I understand the electric cars as an idea isn’t something new. going way back to 1830ish! (it’s true..real working electric cars..not at scale mind you, but the idea was there from way back…)
being someone who really love simple and easy to maintain, I really look forward to something “like” my old truck, but with an electric powerplant. It doesn’t exist…yet..
I don’t want gadgets…plain, simple, just a propulsion system that can be recharged with an easy 120 plug outlet….Range isn’t important to me. This is a “camp truck”…top trips are less than 100 miles. If they can build something like that with far less moving parts that go south, are dependable, durable…I’ll get one no doubt about it. But that doesn’t exist right now. There are no truck haulers, real duty trucks with true flat bed 4×8 capacity decks and towing capacities up to 4 tons.
the last thing I would want out of an electric car is to deal with the same sorts of things modern truck owners deal with in the standard ICE segment: lots of part failures that are expensive and time consuming to repair.
I am not opposed to alternative fuel either..but the thing is, it’s still ICE by design…and that means heat, rotating mass, lots of wear, transmissions that are complicated, and tolerances that have to be so narrow that even a slight aberration results in either failure or a serious drop in performance and engine life.
And that’s the reality with alot of the newer modern ICE engineering…sure, you get great mileage…performance too…and all that dandy green ego to boot….But these things just aren’t built to last….
anecdote: I do alot of range shooting. You know the one rifle that never jams or fails? ak-47….also happens to be the cheapest and easiest to maintain. Is it the more precise? nope..but it kills deer and hogs out at 200 yards…pretty good enough to keep the family fed. Sure, I could spend a small fortune on a weatherby…it IS a better rifle….but in terms of practically….and what you are actually gaining for that enormous cost? really nothing.
Yes, I own a five year old tooth brush…lol nothing wrong with it. still works. Dentist says so…good enough for me.
regitiger: Regarding that AK, those are commie deer and hogs that you’re talking about, right? Just want to be sure.
all comers
Maintaining your old truck will become impossible when they dry up the sources for spare parts.
https://www.dw.com/en/porsche-to-produce-fuel-as-clean-as-electric-vehicles/a-56787413
this is very interesting.
Well thought out thoughts. I agree whole heartedly.
People in this country are very ignorant. As you mention these plants need power. Abe the LIBERALS here put hurdles up for nuclear (resulting in build and operational costs that are absurd) all the while clearing the way for China to continue building more and more.
I believe most people (not all), are still stuck in that “school” mode….where appearances, and “fitting in”, guides most of their decisions.
“how will other think about me”…
you hear it all the time…it’s really any inferiority complex.
yeah…no…just no.
the entire schtick is branding is based on exploiting this weakness
it’s fear of being seen or considered “less”.
george carlin has alot to say about that….
average: means that 50 percent of people are retarded (or something like that)..
he gets it.
Ford Workers gonna be sneaking into Mexico now
So where is Union bossy-boss Dickie Trumpka??? Where is his speech condemning the idiot he backed and supported (with workers’ dues) in the fake Election knowing that workers did better under Trump and this failure was predicted??? Are the Ford workers, who keep supporting Trumpka, going to go on Strike??
Just for the record his name is spelled Trumka without the p. I don’t even want President Trump’s name within this corrupt crook’s name.
Back years ago, I knew this POS Richard Trumka personally when he was running for president of the UMWA. I can attest that he is an egotistical, self absorbed, elitist. He even crooked his way into the UMWA presidency at the time by faking the five years coal mining experience required by the UMWA constitution for eligibility for the job. He claimed he worked underground in Nemacola PA. However, in fact he only worked there for a short period of time, while in law school, and then worked as a UMWA lawyer in Washington DC. Fraud from the start. Sound familiar for a power hungry Democrat?
After Trumka won the election, Mr. Smart, elitist lawyer’s “leadership” and his “legal” maneuvers BROKE the back of the UMWA. During one of his brilliant/s “selective strikes” in 1988, a contractor’s employee was murdered. The man was shot while crossing a picket line. A miner on the picket took the fall.
Sometime after that, he wormed his way into the political arm of a conglomeration of unions, the AFL-CIO, as the Secretary Treasurer. With the “retirement’ of John Sweeney, Richard Trumka somehow took over as President of the AFLCIO.
Believe me, this man is a low life POS who does not give a rat’s petute about these union employees losing their jobs. Did you hear a word from him about Xiden cancelling the Keystone pipeline costing thousands of union jobs. Just like he kept his mouth shut while Obama destroyed the coal industry in the name of the “climate change” green energy scam. Look at his worth. Richard Trumka is a CULTural Marxist warrior that acts in his own elitist interest, just like our esteemed Congress Critters, Hollyweird, Military Generals, (S) news Media talking heads, etc. To hell with them all.
Wow, you just described pretty much every Silicon Valley CEO
FauXi and Trumka. Birds of the same feather.
?
The UAW leadership does not care where Ford or any other automaker makes their cars. Some of the jobs in Mexico are uaw, but the reality is an electric vehicle plant would be highly automated (robotic). It’s better for them long term for production to go south so they don’t have to make excuses when they could lose 2/3 the workforce when the plant changes to EV.
The UAW knows it’s days are numbered, and like any other abbreviated name doesn’t truly represent its core purpose anymore. At Toledo Hospital, they represent nurses. At Mother Jones, writers.
All the bigwigs care about is putting more leftists in power so they foray deeper into other disciplines.
Ohio – Not a “right to work” state so shut the “F” up. Your legislature and governor better get on the 21st century band wagon or go to the dogs because that is where you are going.
Stuck on stupid, are we?
That has nothing to do with the totally corrupt and shit for brains UAW. You endorsed Biden you traitors. Screw you too.

Folks, the USA has died. Have the funeral.
The USA govt died.
Highly doubtful, even for FIB. Besides, the IT repair guy has several copies of the hard drive. For insurance.
He better be in hiding if he is still breathing….
He is in hiding and trying to sue…

In all seriousness, has there ever been a nation in all of history so determined to commit national suicide? Has there ever been a nation where at least half the nation viscerally hated itself?
I know of none.
Say what you want about Stalin and Castro and Mao and the Kims but at least they seemed to like their countries.
it’s not the nation . . . or the majority of its people . . . it’s the pukes in the UniParty doing the destruction.
Thank you. Was about to insert this very thing.
The only part in which we are complicit is ignoring the fact that it IS a MINORITY of pukes and our 100 million and growing, who dwarf it, are apparently at a complete loss as to how we have any power to stop them.
Which IS suicidal and also backward since at least in a couple of our generations there are still enough innovative thinkers that outside the box thinking should be doable.
And THIS is why the Capital is protected by a 15’ fence topped with razor-wire and guarded by 15K armed troops.
It really doesn’t matter. If a pilot decides to down his own plane and we’re aboard we’re all dead anyway.
While we must endure this nonsense, the rest of the world will not. So, whether they realize it or not, this is the death-knell of the US led Uni-Polar World / New World Order / Great Reset / One World Government, etc. etc. Other nations will simply not follow the US down this path. So the Progressives have to make a choice, continue this nonsense or lead the World in a realistic fashion. They can’t do both.
CASE IN POINT: Imagine what would happen if China, India & Russia decided to follow the United States and decarbonize, specifically the effect on the people in this world who live on a few hundred or a few thousand dollars a year. Will they be able to afford steel, aluminum or any of the basic necessities needed to build a house or town? Will they be able to afford the cost of electricity that requires a renewable energy sources as well as a reliable fossil fuel grid as a back-up system? And as energy is used to manufacture everything, renewables will drive up the prices of food and medicine as well as automobiles, phones and computers.
This will happen as surely as opening the southern border will draw a tsunami of migrants. The world simply does not operate in the way Progressives construe it. And in poor countries, the lack of money won’t be obfuscated by political and media rhetoric.
The bottom line is this isn’t going to happen. The rest of the world will play along with the United States as long as they get free money, factories and jobs… but that is as far as it will go.
It’s nice to know that we will ‘endure’ this because apparently we have no functioning might, no brains, no legs, no arms, no sight, no training.
G.I. Joe would be making all of us drop and give him 100
So we are supposed to be surprised Obama’s third term is like hiz first two?
Some may be down on Ford but look at the reasoning as the Biden and D’s are going to tax and regulate them to death and they are just protecting themselves as any business would.
Hah hah hah!!
YOu must have missed Obama I and II when bailouts and tax forgiveness and regulatory dismissal were the norm when it came to cronies.
For example, Google pays almost nothing because, among other things, they supply all the connectivity for the city of Mt. View and have deals with the city to buy up the land.
This is regrettable news for those UAW members that voted for P Trump but not for those that stupidly voted for the basement imbecile candidate’s radical party as their union bosses demanded.
Corruption in the Big Unions has been well known for several decades so it’s obvious that every union member should learn the truth themselves and not become dupes of their corrupt leadership.
It would be interesting to see an accurate tabulation of how many union members followed their union’s instructions to vote for Biden and those that said FO to their union pork chop leadership and voted for Trump.
Elections have consequences….so all you WOKE folks keep voting woke.
Our Real and Still Your President Trump warned the auto manufacturers what would happen if they moved any new production to Mexico. They didnt. But now with the CCP Puppet installed in the White House I think we will see more than car/ truck makers heading for the exits. Higher taxes, more regulation,on and on …everything the Uniparty loves to impose.
Why would any business locate in chicago?
Now that chicago politics has been nationalized, why would any business locate in the US?
Internal problems for the coal industry…there used to be an area of multiple train tracks, filled with coal cars nearby. Now its filled with container trains/freight trains. Lightfoot’s Chicago is no different than Daily’s.
https://abc7chicago.com/implosion-crawford-coal-plant-little-village-news/6232905/
the old rails are there from back when chicago was the city of ‘big shoulders’. hard to move them, but most old rail lines are gone.
It was a media, manufacturing, research, financial, tech, theater/arts center. it is depleted by corruption now, city of the lotto tickets and bad schools, fleeing population, burning and looting without consequence.
Taxes are getting so bad everywhere, I’m not sure what people are going to do. We as a Country need to stop this High Tax BS across the damn board.
Well you and I identify as part of a country but look around, the ‘we are doomed and we will sit and watch as doom descends’ crowd apparently lives on a different plain and has no power to influence the plain of existence where you and I live…
generations of soldiers shed blood for us….just insanely ashamed of all of these eunuchs.
Then jump up out of that foxhole and by dam lead us. You seem to have a plan. What about the 300 people HUNTED down by the FBLie just for attending President Trump’s rally on January 6? One is a medic who never set foot in the Capitol.
As long as I have been a political observer (about 55 Years) Democrats have never seemed to look more than 5 inches down the road.
the breaking point was ’62’. madeline murray o’hare.
Wow did my mother, a brilliant conservative attorney, loathe her….so much so that when my hairdresser for fun put a streak of magenta in my hair, because it turned out that Madeline Murray O’hare had done the same, my mother hit the roof and told me to get rid of it.
maybe ohio will get rid of tim ryan now.
Keep voting democrat you hibernating stupid union dinosaurs. Its not 1970.
People get what they vote for…..or they get what they ignore………no Conservative voted for this crap……….only Democrats and Liberals……they own this crap…………..in their quest to get rid of Donald Trump they screwed their neighbors……their children’s futures…..and their own pocketbooks…….I own a Ford Edge………..its a 2009…..has 232,000 miles on it…….I will drive that puppy into the ground…..it will likely sputter and belch and gasp in my driveway………and I will replace it…..but I will go buy something else…and it’s not going to be an electric anything because that will be the next frontier of warfare………..and it’s not going to be a Ford……….
You should be able to get 300-500K out of it easily.
Hahahahahahaha. Good. That’s what the UAW gives their members for supporting Joe Biden and America Last. but too bad the plant getting screwed isn’t in Michigan that voted for Biden rather than a plant in Ohio — a state that voted for Trump. As long as union workers are so easily fooled, they will get played and lose their jobs.
What could possibly to wrong? EVERYTHING.
What a Biden Presidency Means for the Auto Industry … and You
Electric cars, stricter tailpipe emissions, high-speed rail—but at what cost?
by Mark Rechtin March1, 2021

Pretty soon all the cars from Ford and GM will be imported from Mexico or China.
Pardon me while I laugh my ass off!’
You get what you vote for UAW
Yes they do, especially when 100 million people don’t use their collective voice and power to correct them.
Exactly. Just passive bitching. Amazing.
It seems that those who did Jan 6 are being rounded up by fed SWAT teams and held in solitary, their businesses, homes, children, savings, and good names all gone in a rush.
So, any other ideas?
Donate to these families so they don’t lose everything.
Electric vehicles can never replace gas and diesel vehicles. There will be disastrous consequences. The amount of energy needed just to build the batteries for these vehicles far outweighs their energy advantages. Further, in the dead of winter, batteries are far less efficient. With “green energy” being relied upon, winter charging of electric vehicles may become impossible when the power grid goes down. Your dead-battery EV will be a useless piece of junk when the power grid failure means you cannot charge it.
Nobody realizes that a massive charging infrastructure universally available in cities will require incredible quantities of copper wire, switch gear, expensive construction and far more electricians than there are working in the USA.
The cost of widely available charging stations would be staggering. America would be economically destroyed trying to achieve such foolish nonsense.
Fossil fuels are FAR MORE an efficient use of energy. Gasoline is the most efficient source of energy storage EVER developed by mankind.
This is what happens when no one opposes these decisions.
Time to boycott Ford!
Ford – re-branded as ALJ (America Last Jalopies)
You get what you vote for, or didn’t vote for in this case. Union employees are so brainwashed they’ll go along with what their leadership tells them to do.
Having served a 15 year sentence as a project engineer for a First Tier supplier to GM and Ford, up until I retired in 2009, I have no sympathy at all for the UAW. (Acronym known among salaried GM staff as standing for United Against Work.)
I’ll just guarandamteeya that the UAW made new demands of Ford that the company couldn’t swallow, and so put Plan B into action. Boo-effin-hoo.
Getting what they voted for and getting it hard.
God help us with this leftist plague.
A major union, The United Association of Piping Trades, representing a huge number of plumbers, pipefitters, and sprinklerfitters throughout North America, also supported Biden. One of their champion’s first acts was to cancel the Keystone Pipeline, which was a kick in the b@lls to this union. You would think that the leadership would have learned after endorsing Obama twice, and having their interests snubbed TWICE before. I guess they are gluttons for punishment?
it gets even worse. i’m in the uaw.
i got only 13% of the latest covid bailout.
democrats decided that a blue collar guy like me MAKES TOO MUCH.
Womp womp. Sorry, UAW, China has a billion dollars for Hunter, Do YOU have a billion dollars for Hunter? No? Well then sucks to be you. By the way thanks for the votes!
ps…the guy who confronted Biden is not an autoworker. He’s a millwright out of 1102.
we build factories, not autos.
Having a really tough time shedding a tear for the UAW given that on April 20, 2020 they endorsed Biden. To quote the Duke, “Life is hard; it’s even harder when you’re stupid.”
what’s the re-sale value of electric cars with 100,000 miles?…& what & where do the dead batteries end up?..landfills? buried in Nevada ?
I wonder if the lax environmental laws/enforcement in MX vs. EV batteries has anything to do with the move.
the uaw supported biden. correction the uaw union leaders supported biden.
Ha, ha, ha, Biden just fell 3 times. And after he said Putin was a kille, and Putin said..good health to him. LOL
“Union Guy” Joe Biden strikes again.
If MAGA is being cancelled so easily and so quickly, doesn’t that mean it was never really as strong as we were being led to believe? Sad…..
The Union will make it up by voting to up wages and just pass it on to us the buyers.

I sold my Ford stock yesterday.
GM will be next, bank on it.
