Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivers a speech from CPAC 2021 which is being held in Orlando. Governor DeSantis is leading the way to manage COVID-19 without shutting down schools and businesses. As DeSantis notes the COVID infection rate is lower in open Florida than 23 lockdown states. Additionally, the unemployment rate in Florida is far below the national average despite the tourism industry suffering due to the virus.
DeSantis talks about what he did to secure the 2020 election, and the reform he instituted in Broward County. Also the state legislature is currently working on laws to stop ballot harvesting in the state; along with another initiative in the battle with Big Tech that DeSantis is leading to stop censorship, targeting and privacy violations.
The Florida governor talks at length about the failure of the Republican establishment and the need to continue pushing the MAGA agenda domestically and within foreign policy. DeSantis also paid tribute to Rush Limbaugh an American hero and Florida resident.
Maybe for a while we should pretend we actually do like Nikki Haley.

I think it is great. But I live in Bend (Central Oregon), we have been inundated with California transplants who are escaping the chaos in CA but unfortunately continue to vote democrat. This one conservative city now has the beginnings looking like Portland.

There are some *great cities* and towns up there and they are Florida’s “buffer zone”.
That’s a tough sell. You couldn’t ever get me to move to that state where the Democrats are terrible and the Republicans are just as terrible but also liars. In observation once you’ve lost the state it ain’t coming back so better to consolidate in reliable conservative states to stem further losses.
That turned in 2004 with the Gubernatorial election steal from Dino Rossi. Vote by mail was legislated before the next the election and Washington government turned itself into a 99.7% radical blue State.
Actually I think the Senate race in 2000 was the test case…Slade Gorton was leading over Maria Cantwell until King County suddenly “found” over 10K ballots a week after the election. Gorton was too “polite’ to contest the results and the media refused to look into it at all. And then came the Rossi debacle, which led to all mail in voting and yep, we lost the state at that point. Seattle is now a crime ridden disaster, overrun with homeless encampments…it is beyond heartbreaking to see what has become of my once beautiful Emerald City!

I live a rural area 20 miles north of Spokane, Washington, and have been deeply involved in politics since 2009. Without a doubt, our 4th Legislative District is very conservative, yet the cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, and Pullman have become purple and are ripe for annihilation.
I’ve worked with the committee started by Rep Matt Shea for the breakaway State of Liberty the past few years and I’ve learned some things that others will waste their time until understanding.
(1) A State must split within itself before considering joining with parts of another breakaway state.
Once a state splits into two areas, and they want to join another state, that process can be started. HOWEVER, the main reason for creating the split is to create more members of Congress and Senators. Thus taking two adjoining conservative states and making one out of them defeats that goal and can actually weaken Congress.
(2) When a breakaway makes it to the general ballot and that States’ citizens pass it, the process then must be approved by Congress with a simple majority.
(2a) most all approved State splits (for Conservative values) have included the inclusion of other requested state admissions – liberal states – in order to keep the political ‘balance’ in Congress. Think Alaska – Hawaii. Currently, Congress wants to allow Puerto Rico statehood in exchange for Liberty State Or California’s State of Jefferson.
Not as simple a process as one would think.

We have no mandates where I live, but the businesses (especially small) are afraid of being held responsible if someone contracts Covid from their facility so they require masks.
I had an eye exam last week and was forced to wear one, have my temperature taken, while they were obsessing over disinfecting everything. Also an entire sheet of paperwork dedicated to questions surrounding Covid. That’s when I learned the reason behind the masks at so many of these smaller facilities; liability. The big box stores are too large to fail, so we get away with not wearing a mask. I think President Trump tried to protect businesses from Covid lawsuits with the last bailout, but it was blocked.
In Georgia we passed a law that businesses can not be held liable for covid deaths or illnesses. Everyplace has a big sign stating that the risk of entering is on the person. Has really helped to open things up.

I don’t blame businesses for wanting indemnification. Too many lawyers willing to bankrupt small and big companies for a big payday. Too many juries willing to stick business with a lawsuit.

I am just south of you in “BlueJean” Orygun. Family came out in 1845. Have watched it slide into stupid for years. Been watching Pink Floyd Prozanski and others use the “emergency clause” to railroad legislation and discourage voter review. My uncle remembers when Southern Oregon and Northern California wanted to form the state of Jefferson. Even had fake phony roadblocks just before WWII. South and Eastern Oregon not represented by Salem, Northern California not represented by Sacramento. Still see a lot of it; Jefferson Public Radio, Jefferson State Shooting Association, etc. Call it Jefferson or Greater Idaho, but get us out and away.
I moved to FL (from navy blue NY) in 2018 in time to vote for DeSantis in the governor’s race. What a thrill to have my vote actually matter!

Yep, our county is low double digits, as are most Oregon counties, and OR is a good example of live local, act local, be local. Make the enemy expend resources asymmetrical to their benefit, a major plus being a right-minded local sheriff. I’m fine with Oregon life, what goes on in Eugene, Salem and Portland is another planet as far as I’m concerned. Their operatives don’t scare me and their lives are meaningless to me. Only human.
If we stick together, we can live productive, positive lives and repel the Communists with the barbarism they deserve. Perhaps at some point we can get back to the ballot box and the jury box but now isn’t that point. Those are lost. Oregon is overwhelmingly rural and deep, deep conservative and the vast majority who’ve remained have lived hard lives in a subsistence economy, devastated in many areas by the Covid-19 op. Your state constitution probably has definite limitations on how long a gov can order it, what he/she can lawfully do in that time, at what point the legislature/voters can step in and limit/nullify her powers, etc.
Many states with govs like yours are: 1) recalling the gov and OTHERS, 2) giving their legislatures HELL, 3) openly disobeying her orders, and forbidding their local sheriff/police from executing tyrannical orders.
You have options.

It’s not De Santis (or anyone else’s) fault the republican party conceded without any real fight. I’ve read the court rulings in many of these cases and – you know what? Judges were right to toss them because the plaintiffs did a shitty job. I’m not saying the election wasn’t stolen. I don’t know. There was certainly enough probably cause to warrant a full audit. We didn’t get one.

And when it became very clear, early on, that Flynn was factually just doing his JOB as the incoming national security advisor and that he had done NO wrong, the lack of any statement from Pence confirming that he retracts his comments about Flynn told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about him. And people here still loved him at the time and I caught grief here because of it. But I’m guessing now we’re all pretty much settled on the matter of Pence.

I knew DeSantis well when he first began his campaign for Congress. He lived just a mile from me in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. I attended several events where he spoke and would see him often at the local post office. I was carrying out voter registration and he needed to check his box for donations. I remember one time when as I was arriving at the post office to set up, he was just leaving. I called out to him to say Hi and he, immediately, turned back, picked up my table and set it up for me. It impressed me! We became friendly and my grassroots group decided to help him in the campaign. We sent out information, did some precinct walking (via golf carts), and had fundraisers for him. He impressed all of us as a young patriotic former Navy officer; very intelligent and respectful. He comes from a working middle class family from Tampa. He attended Harvard and Yale on scholarships and working in anything that came his way. When he got elected congressman, I helped him by adopting two cats that his wife Casey had rescued. I still have them and they’re healthy and happy. At first he seemed a bit timid but I knew he would eventually grow and become great. All of us in that group are tremendously proud of him. We miss him as a neighbor but thank God he’s our Governor!

Scott lies. Repeatedly. Not to be trusted. He and little Marco are both back stabbers. People are onto both of them since Trump became POTUS. Major newspapers (or whats left of them) continually criticize Ron. Ron ignores them. Ron gives it right back to nasty reporters calling them out on their failures. He was really handed a huge problem with the pandemic because the Florida Department of Health is a week State agency. The State Emergency Management structure, well organized to respond to hurricane, tropical storms etc 6 months of the year, was used to organize the State’s response to the China virus. DeSantis’ early decision to protect the elderly in nursing homes was key to protecting the most vulnerable. The vaccines have been prioritzed for the elderly over 65 yo crowd but not mandatory. Floridians may have some time to see how the senior guinea pigs handle the mRNA vaccines before rolling it out to others. Health care workers and first responders have priority for the vaccine, too. 56 year old healthy Miami doctor took the vaccine and died shortly thereafter. We’ll see what happens.
He’s always been that way. Not a great public speaker…even from his healthcare business days. My mom was volunteer at our big hospital here. She was a big fan. Said he’d come by and be really charming one on one but “couldn’t speak to a crow worth a darn”.
Rick Scott is a terrible speaker! I heard him once when he was running for Governor the first time. I ended up not voting for him, but for Bill McCollum who had been Florida’s AG. Eventually Scott won because the Tea Party supported him.

Good, so now please order a scorched-earth forensic audit of the 2020 elections results in Florida. Every ballot, every machine, every vote fully vetted and properly verified. In South Florida there are seasonal condo owners who vote both in New York and Florida at the same time and joke about it.
My daughter works in Fort Lauderdale….many of her new clients moved here from liberal states..they say, love the freedom weather etc but can’t stand the Fl governor. Very scary ..afraid they will ruin our state with their liberal ways. You are correct..They are flocking here in droves

Conservativism needs to be defined and differentiated. GOP/RNC Conservativism = Globalism/Uniparty.

The communist democrats have a little under 2 years to figure out how to rig and/or steal the Florida election for Governor. It will be a dozy and while I respect what Governor DeSantis has done to date to clean up voting in Florida, he is loathed by the deep state, oligarch, Great Reset globalist cabal and will be sent packing in the next election. Sigh. I hope to get to Florida for a nice long stay before that happens.
In 2018 we had a homosexual crack addict Black guy come within inches of beating DeSantis.
DeSantis wasn’t well known. He was Congressman from District 6—-only from Daytona to PVB. No large cities involved.
Correct and in 2022 Florida will get that or something worse.
