Friend of the TreeHouse John Spiropoulos provides some more examples of how COVID is hurting small businesses while local and state government seem oblivious to their plight. John notes these are real people, middle-America, not statistics, that are hit by policies and regulations that local officials dictate often by fiat.
As John shares: “This is another in our ongoing series of reports on the adverse impact of government China Virus restrictions on small business and their employees. This is the story of a Flagstaff, Arizona businessman that invested nearly his entire life savings in a business that was hit hard by restrictions imposed by the state government.”
.
“This next story features a Phoenix, Arizona business owner that began his business when he was laid off by his previous employer. This features a start up air conditioning business in Phoenix. One of the owners was laid off at the beginning of the China Virus crisis, so he decided to team up with an associate and launch his own business. They’re making a go of it.”
One observation about all of the business I’ve visited. Everybody had to throw out their existing business model and adapt their operations to maximize their revenue and, hopefully, maintain some semblance of profitability. From my perspective, the hardest hit businesses are those enterprises that are subject to capacity limits that limit the number of customers.
For example, the air conditioning business switched from focusing on installations in existing homes to residential and commercial construction. It was a challenge but they’re not limited to the number of clients they can get. Restaurants, on the other hand, have capacity limits. And so does the amusement business featured in one of today’s reports.
A final thought. In many cases, state restrictions allow business owners to open but with no chance of making a profit. Who thinks up this stuff? It reminds me of the old joke about two partners running a business. One says, “We’re not turning a profit. In fact, we’re losing money on every sale.” The other responds by saving, “That’s OK, we’ll make it up in volume.”
Restaurants in Michigan back open as of February 1. They have limited seating. They make you sign in at the door for contact tracing, which nobody does of course. I signed in the other day as “Donald J. Trump”. I suppose that’s a crime for Herr Whitler.
Still a mess here though. The petition to invalidate Whitler’s unconstitutional executive orders is apparently getting attention, after being set aside by Whitler’s minions. Eventually, they’ll have to respond to it.
I’d sign up as Micky Mouse.
I always sign up using the same name and number that is right above the empty line I’m writing on.
No one pays any attention anyway, and if anyone is going to get called, it’ll be the person who put their phone number down in the first place.
God Bless our small business owners.
And our entrepreneurs.
(TY Adrem, Ménage, Stella, and SD)
I think American ingenuity will come to the fore and a lot of entrepreneurs will forge a new way of doing business, or dig in and scrounge around to make things work for their existing business. It will be an uphill battle, but some people just thrive under those conditions.
Sad thing is all the small business’s that are toast.
Agreed. So many will be unnecessarily lost.
I had a business in heavy industry for decades and fought the cockbags in government just as long in their petty political power games. I’ll not be playing their game any longer. It’s time for war. People like myself built this country, literally, brick by brick and beam by beam and we sure as hell can take it apart. You all stay at home and take care of your families. Mine’s dead. There’s stuff to do. The enemy is inside the gate. Flowery words and good intentions and turning the cheek isn’t going to deter them.
It is not Covid that is the problem. Covid virus have been around for ages.
It is the government’s unconstitutional response to Covid that is panicking and hurting people.
This German lawyer is talking class action, international law and tribunals for crimes against humanity. Very interesting piece, well organized evidence of this plandemic being a sham. https://vimeo.com/498442220
Reiner is so smart and articulate, I hope he is successful.
Thank you. His name is Reiner Fuellmich.
Saw a video by him last year. He was all over the scam then. Looks like he has gathered enough incriminating evidence to go forward with serious litigation. His will be an interesting case to follow.
The Governors issuing their edicts are the ones who are “Non-Essential”, not businesses
Like the whiskey tax and subsequent rebellion.
People made whiskey to get cash to pay land tax. Cash was hard to come by. Crops like corn were difficult to transport and sell.
The only way out was to distill whiskey. Millers took 1/8 of the grain as a milling fee then made whiskey. They had taxes too.
So the govt heavily taxed the thing people needed to pay tax.
Diabolical.
Because govt is ponderous, unimaginative, selfish, short-sighted, lazy, stupid, and INFERIOR.
And … not ONE government “worker” was laid off during the demonRATS PLANdemic.
That joke reminds me of the story about the farmer who won a million dollars. They asked him what he planned to do now that he was rich. “Oh Guess I’ll just keep on farming til it’s gone.”
Huge economic impact on New Orleans and surrounding area due to CANCELLING Mardi Gras! (This year it’s February 16, but parades are planned long in advance.) The mayor *was* discussing with parade krewws and captains to decide and plan together, and next thing they knew, news reports were she cancelled everything behind their backs without even a heads up. WTF! All other parishes followed suit, and Mobile killed their festivities, too
Reinforcing the message that local government hates you, Mayor Catrell also dropped her jackboot on the necks of local businesses and residents by declaring New Orleans restaurants and bars closed over this time frame. Period. They killed the annual boost to the economy in private business and tax revenue. That thug mayor is trying to kill my hometown.
Women in power = problems. I am a woman BTW.
Kristi Noem’s a woman, too. ….but you probably knew that.
Oh and, BTW, Biden is a man….. you probably knew that, too.
Which begs the question…..????
There are exceptions.
Judges 4:4 ¶ And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
Judges 4:8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
Judges 5:7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.
Judges 5:15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.
And Jael put the te t peg through Sisera’s head, I think.
Kristi Noem is definitely a tough, brilliant exception to the rule.
Kate Brown (OR) = big tyrant, is hated
Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM) = big tyrant, is hated
Gretchen Whitmer (MI) = big tyrant, is hated
Janet Mills (ME) = problem, now screwing with vaccine priorities
Gina Raimondo (RI) = problem, indecisive
Then there is
Kim Reynolds (IA) = ?
Kay Ivey (AL) = ?
Laura Kelly (KS) = ?
Make a list now of all the insane men in Politics.
I can’t believe we’re even having a discussion as dumb as this.
I think the point is they’re the same once they get to that level in politics. Women no better than men. I think there’s only 9 female governors at the moment. It’s probably easier to list the great male governors because there are so few out of 42.
Proverbs 31:3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
Ignore it and continue planning it and advertise that the government cancelled but your doing it anyway and to ignore anything the hear or see on the news.
Ie: ‘peaceful protest’ .. Right DG?
You know what?… We citizens had better be willing to step up to support and protect those brave business owners who defy these tyrants, like Maximus’ men who took one step forward when he was threatened by the Praetorians. They are often out there in their own.
Ugh. That sucks so bad.. breaks my heart.
Cantrell is disgusting but the residents of NO voted for her. I live right outside NO and was there last wknd. The woke loser’s are in charge and the mask compliance is astounding. I see Jazz Fest is postponed to fall also. How long are the residents going to go a long with such idiocracy? They close the restaurants yet send out emails for donations for food security. Ignore that moron Cantrell. How can the residents follow someone so dumb? Move out. It is rotting there with feral’s and the clown hair flabby force out of Tulane. Did you know that Tulane has a college course on Trumplandia? Sad story there. I use to work at Touro and loved it. Now, I rarely bother. The place is depressing.
Sadly here in Redlands Kalifornistan we lost a very popular local bar and grill that has been in business for 86 years, yeah 1934, they survived wars and recessions but couldn’t survive Heir Oberwatcher Newsome.
https://www.redlandsdailyfacts.com/2020/11/18/taylors-bar-grill-near-redlands-is-closing-after-86-years-of-legends-tall-tales-of-death-and-a-tv-show
As the rules changed for limited opening they had limited outdoor dining, but no where near there previous booming business. They made the best burgers and tacos and probably served enough beer to float the Titanic. The recall vote is now close, but will we get a new face with the same totalitarian habits? Maybe so.
I lived in a 90% hispanic community in the SF Bay Area for years. The liquor stores often operated as bars (in the back). ABC never messed with them. One had loud music that could be heard at some distance.
in war take down all in power who want to harm USA govenors, rinos and all who did not fight for President Trump they should have no job paid by deplorables
In my neck of the woods, Matt Strickland, veteran, keeps his restaurant open and defies Blackface’s orders. Allowing full service., no masks. He’s fed up and has hired lawyers. Health department says they do not know what they do–listen to the stupid reporter at the end of the piece.

I didn’t see your post, I linked the newspaper. Comment section was awful.
We are fairly normal in my small south Mississippi town.
I got a manicure yesterday without a mask. There were 8-10 women in the shop.
We talked about Covid. I said I want to know where the flu I has gone. Everyone contemplated that and all said they don’t know anyone who has had the flu.
I then said I don’t know anyone who has had a common cold. Everyone laughed. I said, seriously do y’all know anyone who has had a cold.
Again, none of those women and girls knew of ANYONE, family or friend, who has had a cold!
I am wondering if all colds and flu in previous years would have tested “positive” for Covid. Something strange is going on!
Look at September 27, 1996 AP story Wuhan Flu. Several papers will come up with the story because it’s AP
When I’m ready to replace my AC, I’ll call these guys for sure.
Congress and the rest of the government local, state and federal don’t care because they are all still getting paid whether they work or not.
Exactly! I tell people to ask those high and mighty govt employees, THOSE TAXPAYER EMPLOYEES, if they have missed even a single paycheck.
Have any of them said, “These people are my bosses, they are suffering. How can I, in good conscience, be paid while they are losing their life’s work? What can I do? How can I show solidarity with them? Maybe all of us gov’t employees can take a 30% pay cut and put it in a fund, and give it to our neighbors, to help them through this terrible time, stand with them”.
Has this happened… Anywhere?
Enough said.
People in MI. started a website for personal testimonies from those affected by Whitmer’s Lockdown Orders:

Mr. Spiropoulos does such a great job in presenting and documenting ‘Real Americans’. Always a pleasure to view these segments of Americana, even when the story is painful.
Kudos to you, John, for your human curiosity, journalistic professionalism, and humane standards of both!
Thanks to John Spiropolous for getting these stories out.
Share the vids them so more can see.
Thank you so much for these continuing videos, showing what it’s like for the small business person; I’ve been sharing these on Facebook with the “Ground Reports” as my caption. It means a lot to be able to show people the consequences of these shut downs but more importantly, that Americans are innovative and quite capable of adapting to any challenge.
Stock Show & Rodeo is usually a huge event in Texas – ultra Liberal mayors in Houston & Ft. Worth have cancelled the event which brings in Millions and provides Millions of Dollars in scholarships to thousands of students – but surprisingly the event is happening with a much lower attendance in San Antonio believe it or not – there will be no carnival but the actual Rodeo and Youth will participate in the Livestock Exposition –
City Officials tried their best to fight it and there were petitions from Liberal Lunatics but somehow the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo organizers prevailed albeit with way less attendees – still good for them and shame on Houston & Ft. Worth
I can’t tell what the impact is,I live in an area where it’s nuts 24/7 365. With incompetents running the show. Led by a governor who claims to be a republican . A brief look at this guy and you know he’s a democrat who claims to be a republican strictly to sabotage the republican party in Massachusetts. He puts all his undercover democrats in positions of power. It’s to the point where it is one party rule.
I’m back to where I was in 2015 , all politicians (for the most part with very few exceptions) I think of as dead weight, they are parasites of the worst kind. And they make me sick prancing around with their heads up high and we’re suppose to show them some kind of respect? They are despicable
Put a few hundred in a room and you’ll be Very lucky to find and ounce of honor amongst them.
I am a college professor in The Woodlands, TX. Just today I was asked to self isolate at home for the next two weeks. I passed through the same checkpoint as someone who has tested positive, or was in the same building. This has happened before to me and other professors I know. No one that I know has become I’ll while on lockdown. We resort to teaching from home, which is fine by me, but I know that my face-to-face lectures are more valuable to my students than the alternatives.
Head to Fredericksburg and interview these folks. They are standing tall, but based on the comment section idiots abound. Another family business being abused because of the pandemic. The guy fights in Iraq, comes home to follow his dreams, works hard, and is still fighting for his life.
