On February 28, 2018, at Convocation, North America’s largest weekly gathering of Christian students, director, and actor Jim Caviezel shared in convocation how through the Passion of the Christ, and Paul: Apostle of Christ, he wants people to meet Jesus.
Within the session Mr. Caviezel took a moment to share his perspectives on the political challenges we face as a nation. Remembering back to President Ronald Reagan Caviezel had some thoughts for the audience that ring a particular resonance today: “Set yourselves apart from this corrupt generation”….

I hate to see political righteousness turned into just a “Christian thing.” There are many Christians who do not agree on the particulars, and there are many great patriots who are not Christian at all.
The love of freedom, the spirit of a warrior, and the will to fight corruption are not limited to those who are Evangelical, or who memorize Biblical Scripture, or who are even Christian at all.
Appreciating what was said in this vid, please know that I’m not trying to be contrary and get flamed. And perhaps I’m taking the meaning of this post out of context. It seems to be about a movie, after all. And perhaps it was meant as a contribution to this important season of Jesus’ birth.
My wife and I were discussing righteousness and how our leadership has failed to illustrate the rightness of our cause. How many veterans especially those with serious life changing wounds who fought for the usa want to see a stolen election and a devolution into totalitarianism. We thought a series of commercials where like minded veterans came forth and provided their support to righteous and true elections not only for the future but for our current mess would be very powerful. Unfortunately we have no contacts that would initiate such an important endeavor immediately
My brother died in Vietnam fighting against Communists in a far away land. Now I must decide if I am willing to fight the Communists in my own country. Do we bow our heads and bend our lnees to this tyranny? Or do we stand strong for America?
I was only in Viet nam for a few days and drank beer on China beach. I was in the navy for 26 years and always thought that our focus was fighting communism away from our shores. Socialism is a first cousin to communism. Need to viscerally and visually provide testimony to more Americans asap. They need to feel it. Is anybody on here connected enough to plead this desperate need to provide ads on television and radio of the sacrifices made so we could have fair elections and all of our other inalienable rights.

While the early settlers sought America, and we were ultimately founded as a nation largely based on religious freedom our 2nd President put it a little differently. More than a century later John Adams said (and I’m paraphrasing) that our system of government would only work if the citizenry “were good and moral people.” He didn’t say “religious” although the vast majority of Americans were practicing Christians at that time.
While it is absolutely essential for long-term successful existence for our Constitutional Republican form of government to be based on the “good and moral people” premise, it does not necessarily include the requirement that you can only be considered a good and moral person if you’re religious. It’s just always assumed we’re only talking about religious people, because Christian principles embody the good and moral characteristics.
I’ve always thought the solution is actually pretty simple and, while I am a Christian, it’s not necessary.
If we could all strive to simply live by the Golden Rule – Do unto others as you’d have other do unto you. We’d still have skirmishes and issues, but perhaps society would not have run off the rails so badly as it exists today. We’re morally bankrupt and desperately need to return to being that Good and Moral Nation that John Adams envisioned.
If I had to boil it down to a single word, it would be RESPECT. It’s all but disappeared.
I try and practice it daily. I made a conscious decision years ago to be polite, friendly and grateful to all those I encounter in my daily routines. I’ve gotten to know a lot of retail workers and have even been consoling many right now after the election; assuring them President Trump has this. These places also know I won’t wear a mask and would not dare challenge me about it as they value my business and they know I respect them for what they do and who they are.

Virtue, nobility, love and service? intelligence and will harnessed to such virtues, from whence do they spring?
In Scripture, and not just the Christian scripture, Satan is a liar, the father of all lies, and what was Satan’s principle lie? It was that he was a power into himself, power seperate from the Divine.
When the truth is that there is only one power, one love, one intelligence and will. In the righteous soul, God is the giver, God is the doer, and the Divine is Love, is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient.
And if that is true, then the childs qualities can but be an expression of the Father’s attributes. Now those attributes, in harness to the lie of the self as a seperate power unto itself, place one in the law of consequences from ones actions; outside of grace. And the history of humans outside of grace is full of a few temporary victories, and much defeat. For the law of Karma, which is “reap what you sow” is exacting in precision.
Yet in Scripture, and again, not just Christian scripture, God would spare a nation from this exacting justice, for what was it, only 7 men’s righteousness?
It is said that concience is the speaking voice of silent God. All have this to disparate degrees; a sense that murder is wrong, greed is wrong, cruelty is wrong, etc…
Yet to deepen and strgenthen this silent voice, one must lay down one’s heart and soul in reverence, in graditude
too the source of all virtue. The one thread that supports all virtues, “Love thy Lord and His with all thy strgength, all the heart, all thy mind.”
So for humankind to escape the law, reaping what we sow, we must turn to the Divine.
In my view all good acts bring one closer to this Nobility, and so they help within the law, yet salvation is outside of and free of the law, and is born of humility in surrendering to the Divine in true worship and Communion.
Please note that the left sells there lies by talking of virtue, of helping the poor and what not, and there are sincere statists, yet they are self centered, they see themselves as the doer of all, they engage in that “sad righteousness which calculates” and lacking communion with the Divine attributes of Love, of Omnipotence, they seek God ( for as God’s children they cannot help but seek love, seek power, seek joy) in the world, they seek power, yet power over others, they seek joy in sex, they seek knowledge in books.
There was a saint whom the Divine said, if you cannot offer me your successes, then offer me your failures, these to, I will accept.” In astonishment the saint said, but how, how can I offer you my greed, my lusts, my failures? And he heard an instant response; “because in those things you were, in Truth, seeking my Power, my Love, my Joy, my Peace, my limitless wealth.
And so my friends, we must turn towards the Divine, seek the Kingdom of God within, walk in humility towards and with the Father. And this only is what will save a man, or a nation.
The author, Dr. M. Scott Peck, wrote a book, “People of the Lie.” He wrote the book, after coming to the belief that evil does exist. He re-examined people he had counseled over the years that were “Troubling,” cases.
It is a fascinating book, and, in my opinion, the perfect description of those in our government, journalism, etc. who are trying to destroy this country.
He states: “…”Evil is that which kills spirit. There are various essential attributes of life…particularly human life–such as sentience, mobility, awareness, growth, autonomy, will….”
This is exactly what the left is attempting to do to our society.
There is no true goodness or morality without Creator God…to believe otherwise is to be deceived. Perhaps the notion that there is goodness and morality apart from God is the biggest problem we face as a nation.

I feel that this evil of the stolen election is such a moment for this country. What will be left to save if we stand not on this hill and demand it to stop? Never again will elections be valid if this is allowed to stand. Why would the power mad ever give up that control?
We have known for a long time that the left in particular cheat in elections. We said many times we not only had to elect President Trump again, but it had to be in such massive numbers that their voter fraud efforts would be countered as well. We just never accepted that they would flip votes on such a massive scale. We probably should have. Obama did it. We saw the numerous counties with way out of line percentage going to Obama and well over 100% turn out.
This is our moment. The trouble is what can WE do against this great evil being pushed on us? What can WE do – more than prayers, more than calls to Congress (which is meaningless in some states as we are calling on the enemy of the US to do the right thing)? Massive marches don’t cause a lot of fear unless violence is brought in, which places us right in line with the tactics of the left.

Four years ago before President Trump I would have agreed with the violence scenario but I feel that President Trump and Sundance have shown us many times that Trillions are at Stake. Economic weapons of massive boycotts, Tax revolts and peaceful civil withholding of services for certain corporations involved in the coup can bring results. Perhaps the move to succession by the Red States will get their attention. The Blue States can not economically survive without the Red State productivity. Globalism in the world depends upon money coming from others. Refuse to buy Global produced products and you starve the system. It will take a leader like our President to give us directions on how to proceed effectively. Whatever way he directs economic or force I will be a participant.

A gentle caution, conflating religious sureties with US politics is not attractive to many more people than you realise.
We were founded as a Christian nation by God fearing politicians. It is their ideals that made this nation what it is and what it can continue to be. A gentle caution to those who find this unattractive is that the vast majority of this nation find this the way it should be.
I’ve found over the years that to be an acceptable conservative you should have some form of professed Christian belief. Because that is quasi compulsory, you will never get a genuine count.

Judeo Christian values are what the Bill of Rights are founded on. The idea of individualism and personal responsibility and equality are Christian ideals. Objective truth, honesty and humility, these are Christian concepts and values that make our law and order system possible. Compare them to the collectivism, rigid class systems and denial of individualism you see in every other religion. You don’t have to be Christian to live in a society based on these values and benefit from them.
Now that our culture has decided to abandon these ideals and Christian values, you see widespread corruption and lies. This is not a coincidence.

It should be very attractive since our country was founded by Christians on Christian principles. There is nothing about Christianity that shouldn’t appeal to anyone who wants to live a moral upright life in a free society. Notice also the founders never said everyone must be a Christian all they stipulated was that you must be free to practice your religion without government interference. That to should appeal to all.

I think I see a potential wider role for the Treehouse, and really all of us who value the knowledge of liberty and its genesis in natural law and faith.
When the Roman Empire collapsed the world plunged into darkness and humanity literally began to devolve. It was the medieval monks who took on the burden of safeguarding the knowledge that the world was in danger of losing. Religious as well as classical, wide ranging secular education became their priority so the knowledge could survive the middle ages. It eventually spawned the university system and became the fuel of the Enlightenment and modern western culture.
If America as we know it fails (in many ways it already has), might it be up to us, as people of faith and thinkers equipped with information storehouses such as the CTH, to hold and protect essential knowledge until a time it can emerge again?
I believe that may be very much part of Sundance’s current and long term objectives for this “Refuge”.

Where is Franklin Graham? He is all over TV giving the gospel message. He is one of the few who is “the watchman on the tower” warning of what is coming if we do not turn to God. He is also not afraid, as many preachers seem to be, of advocating for Trump. Like his father, he is the real deal.

In Jim Caviezal’s Catholic faith, my faith, the definition of a saint is someone who is in heaven. Not just St. Peter or St. Paul or other famous saints. Aunt Lucy. Bob who died in Afghanistan. Maybe all those we love and miss.
We are not born to think only of today, but eternity. I doubt those who accomplished great things, amazing things, life or death things, ever thought in the moment, and that is not strictly limited to Christian thought. A man believes in more than himself, more than this moment or there is zero chance for much of anything of consequence to be accomplished.
For even more inspiration….We subscribe to a streaming service called The Great Courses. It offers courses on every topic imaginable from the esoteric to the mundane. Right now we are all watching one called “Unsung Heroes of the Second World War.” It features stories of many ordinary people who did extraordinary things like DeDee de Jongh a 24 year old Belgian woman who organized hundreds of people to get downed Allied airmen out of enemy territory and back to freedom. She was captured by the Germans, spent three years in a concentration camp and after the war went to work in leper colonies in Ethiopia and the Belgian Congo.
One of the men she rescued said, “She was one of those rare beings who deeply felt the suffering of the world and would not let it rest.”
These stories show me what God has made us all capable of. These stories inspire me, too, to step up to the call. We are the inheritors of a long ancestry of selfless service to the higher purpose of God. I highly recommend this if you want to watch something that will take you out of the chaff and get your mind and heart right where it belongs.
I enjoy and highly recommend The Great Courses as well. I also had the pleasure of meeting in Belgium at my favorite uncle’s favorite uncle’s grave a wonderful Belgium veteran of WWII whose family sheltered downed Allied pilots before Patton’s army arrived. C’est un petit monde, non?

I needed them today…I was out Xmas shopping and went into several bookstores…Obama’s book everywhere, also other black “leaders”…no conservative authors in view…then I see this children’s book about Kamala Harris… the LIES. the book describes how she went to Sunday school every week, but she wasn’t raised in the Christian faith. Another page describing how she saw influential black women and thought to herself, “they are black like me”, but she’s Jamaican/Indian…a final page before I couldn’t stand it anymore that states how she has always stood for what is right…the sadness that came over me in the midst of my happy shopping…so, thank you for these words, Mr. Cavaziel…I will be listening again.
I flip those books over…..?

But the entire vid, from the 30,000 foot view, was re-enforcing the point you were making at 24:08.
The original settlers came here for religious freedom. The Liberty Univ Convocation, showcasing a new movie coming out 23 Mar 2021, showed the main reason why much of what we fear may never come to pass.
Too many of us are still Christians, and even if delivered via Skype, or as Paul on foot, we are going to find our fellowship with Our Lord.
More young people are finding their faith more important than all the material things we may need to give up.
I may be incorrect, or gravely misguided, but my trust is in My Lord Who will lead me and my now-teeny family to the place required for our faith to flourish.
