883 Pages of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act Released…

Yikes, the text of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) has been released (full pdf below).  The Senate took H.R.748 stripped it out, and replaced the text with this bill.   The full 50 page senate record of the activity is available here.

Digging in now.  However, at first blush the size of the spending seems to be a considerable state budget deficit bailout [similar to how Obamacare removed the healthcare pension liabilities from unions].  Here’s the BILL:

I don’t know why they can’t use the unemployment system – and extend it past 26 weeks if necessary while the country gets back on it’s feet. The SBA could give emergency loans to businesses and I do think there are certain entities that the USA can’t let fail.

I heard Mark Cuban saying that companies should not be allowed to use taxpayer money to buy back their stock or enrich the people at the top. And he said any company taking gvt money should agree to distributing any bonuses on a % basis to everyone in the company…so if a CEO gets a 10% bonus then the janitor gets a 10% bonus. Embarrassing and criminal, but this is what congress has done for 250 years. The magnitude of the pork is directly correlated to the urgency of the subject legislation. Trump did make a good point that a lot of this money is expected to be repaid, and some of that by AA and higher rated companies.

We’ve devolved to the point where government spending is basically paid for with Monopoly game money. Let’s just pretend, like we always do, that money grows on the government tree? We can then fund and spend for anything we want? Most younger people don’t have a clue and think that’s the way things are already.
