A leak from McCabe’s legal team to their Lawfare ally at Politico, Natasha Bertrand, ends with a spectacular fail; highlighting a series of events entirely apropos of the McCabe character. This is just too darned funny.
Andrew McCabe’s legal team tell Politico journalist Natasha Bertrand that Obama officials were lined up to speak as character witnesses in his defense. To support their claim team McCabe leak’s an email written to the DOJ. Ms. Bertrand then writes an article:
(Politico) A cavalcade of Obama-era national security leaders have committed to testify on behalf of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe should he face trial over allegations that he misled officials about leaks to the media.
[…] If McCabe ultimately does face charges, he’ll have some big names lined up as character witnesses. The high-ranking ex-officials who have committed to defending him include former Attorney General Eric Holder, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former national security adviser Susan Rice.
Mary McCord, a career DOJ attorney who oversaw the government’s Russia probe as acting head of the DOJ’s National Security Division, and David Cohen, the No. 2 at the CIA from 2015 to 2017, are also lined up to speak on McCabe’s behalf.
McCabe’s legal team previously asked DOJ to overrule the prosecutors’ indictment recommendation, but were rebuffed, according to a person familiar with the matter. The lawyers wrote an 11-page legal analysis, entitled “Reasons Not To Prosecute Andrew McCabe,” as part of their effort to convince DOJ not to bring charges. (read more)
Immediately after publishing the article, Ms. Bertrand began receiving some rather snarky responses. John Brennan, James Clapper, Eric Holder and Susan Rice will appear as character witnesses? Seriously?
The team outlined by McCabe’s lawyers are notoriously well known public fibbers themselves including: CIA Director John Brennan (who lied to congress about spying on the Senate intelligence committee); DNI James Clapper (who lied about the NSA gathering metadata on Americans); former AG Eric Holder (who was held in contempt of congress for lying); and Susan Rice (infamous for lying about the Benghazi YouTube video).
The public responses to Ms. Bertrand’s propaganda article on behalf of her Lawfare allies was immediate, pointed and quite accurate. However, a few hours later, Ms. Bertrand had to walk-back the entire premise of her article:
It would appear the claims made by Andrew McCabe; which were based on communications also shared with potential DOJ prosecutors; were made without ever contacting Brennan, Clapper, Holder and Rice for their consent.
Yes, that’s correct. Andrew McCabe, who is being accused of lying under oath, lied about the production of character witnesses who the defense claimed were going to speak about McCabe’s integrity. In essence, he lied about the character witnesses.
You just can’t make this stuff up folks.

Anyway you cut it, any trail held in Washington DC will have an extremely difficult time getting a conviction. The jury pools in DC are notoriously liberal and very left in their politics. Trey Gowdy, a seasoned prosecutor, alluded to this fact recently. Does anyone remember mayor Marion Barry who they had on tape buying cocaine and was up to his eyeballs in illegal activity did 6 months in a federal prison? After his release, he was elected to the Council of the District of Columbia in 1992. He was elected again as mayor in 1994, serving from 1995 to 1999. Make no mistake the good citizens of DC will not convict someone they feel they agree with politically. The prosecution has one hell of a tough job ahead with the prosecution of this low life McCabe.

That is still the elephant in the room. The experts cannot discuss or be fully honest because of political correctness. It would be racist. To change things in the future the Constitution will have to be amended.
DiGenova or McCarthy never had a case this politically polarized and a jury pool this accutely biased. They are in unchartered territory in predicting things.
We all want to believe that dc will be fair. Maybe there will be some common tipping point.
I believe there is a sealed indictment. I hope we still are not waiting for the DC grand jury.
I may have overestimated their difficulty, their resistance, and freedom. However, they are not easy; the ham sandwich semi- truism is not true here. Still hopeful that the conspiracy case in N.Va.

I think TPTB already have the scope on what happened and what went on. I wonder what the FISA judge who signed off on it is thinking. Is he going to testify? This is going to explode and the biggest shake down in US History. I want to see the big players in orange jump suits and their cell mates the biggest black guys in prison. No Va is little better than DC. I lived there for 10 years from 1990-2000-at that time it was pretty conservative. I went back in 2006 and it was full of Julio’s and pregnant Maria’s. When I say full, I mean whole METRO buses filled to the brim with illegal aliens…whole blocks with nothing but houses with 5 to 7 cars in the front yard and mac-arena music blasting. I was shocked how much it had changed.

POTUS needs to pressure Barr to declassify everything. If you can’t get justice in federal court, you can in the people’s court. The dems want to delay, delay, delay until POTUS is gone. I agree with complete declassification and eliminating secrecy mechanisms where ever you can. That is the only way to radically change public opinion and cause tipping points,which may give these DC juries something to think about.

The federal courts in DC May be why the lower level Comey crimes weren’t prosecuted. There’s talk of military tribunals being used to circumvent this issue when larger charges of sedition or treason are brought. The bigger picture is not that theybloed under oath but that they were lying about their attempts at a coup. It’s the attempted coup (treason) that allows the use of military tribunals.

That was my take on that list of people. I think he was saying: If you don’t come to my defense, I am taking these people down with me. He has a lot to lose: a nice house, big expensive cars from what I heard, and a couple of young kids. He looks like the easiest to crack, so I hope they have his nuts in a vice and are turning it hard.

This is the very same tactic used by James Wolfe, the Senate staffer who leaked the Carter Page FISA to the young virtuous NYT reporter he was schlopping.
Wolfe let it be known he was going to call all the Senate security members as witnesses and his case was swept right under the carpet.
The Dems stick to the playbook, because it mysteriously works when you have home team cooking in all the kitchens.

IMHO and some Treepers might disagree with me, prosecuting Obama should not occur. I do not think former Presidents should be prosecuted in America. Obama’s filthy legacy of bullying, division, corruption, and spying has already been sealed in the annals of history. This would also include Bill Clinton. All others should be fair game.

Obama must be publicly discredited. His legacy must be made clear to even the dumbest Americans. Otherwise his wife will likely run in 2024. And she could win. I don’t think it’s necessary for him to go to jail although I would be delighted. But his crimes must come out. Even now he torments us from OFA with his useful idiots and billionaire globalist friends.

Exactly. When it comes to someone like Obama, a trial and even a conviction isn’t the most important thing. Because even if tried and convicted, if the evidence was “debatable”, and he continued to proclaim his innocence, a good percentage of people would continue to support him… he’d even become a “martyr”. If, on the other hand — in exchange for not being put on trial — he must publicly admit his guilt and the immorality of what he did, I’d be fine with that. The dude could never again show his face in public without the whole world pointing and shaking their head.

I’m one who cordially disagrees with you, Rynn. No one is above the law, and if it is determined after you left office that you unlawfully used your powers while in office, you are subject to criminal prosecution … whether you’re the President or a postal clerk.
In the particular case of Obama, it now appears that his offenses were particularly egregious. (Whether or not he was the first, we have digital audit records to help us find out.) He made Richard Nixon look like a harmless patsy – which, more or less, he was. Therefore, perhaps he should be the first “presumed innocent” person to be made to stand trial before a jury of his peers. Then, let the jury render its judgment as it will.

You know sometimes I think we endow stories like this with too much hidden meaning. If you look at the author and the outlet they’re both notorious for running fake stories with little or no basis in reality, so it’s hard for me to imagine that this one is any different. My take on it is they wanted to get out there with a show of support and made it all up out of thin air, like all the other crap we see everyday. If you follow the Bongino rule and wait a day the whole thing falls apart like the house of cards it was. Was it a secret warning to his co-conspirators or just another BS story put out there by Politico…I’m hanging my hat on BS, cause it’s the safest bet on the table.

We need to create new English verb: to weissman”. Weissmanizing is to prosecute somebody after fabricating false charges, produce false evidence, coerce witnesses and lie or intimidate bystanders, all the while hiding (or classifying) exculpatory evidence.
First General Flynn was weissmanized (entrapped and coerced), then it was George Papadopoulos and Paul Manafort (entrapment and refusing to compose). Also PDJT (fake dossier and wiretapping), and afterwards Judge Kavanaugh.(vile lies supported by lying witnesses or totally unsupported for lack of witnesses).
To weissman someone is to do all or part of the above. It is grossly illegal and should not be condoned.

In a previous post on McCabe’s legal strategy I proffered the idea that he would take a plea deal to make this go away. Well, it looks like I was wrong, since McCabe himself has announced that this option is now off the table. I guess if you’re going to double and triple down on the false narrative that you didn’t lie when there’s ample proof that you did, why not go for broke and double dog dare them. Time to get out the popcorn and watch the show, cause this is going to be fun.
