Weird Situation – President Trump Requests Consideration for U.S. Rapper A$AP Rocky Held in Stockholm…

At first blush this story is just odd.  A U.S. rap star has been held in prison for two weeks following a fight in Stockholm, Sweden.  Various people, including celebrities, have reached out to the White House and President Trump for help.  According to one report the administration was able to gain better holding conditions, but the entire story is weird.

Apparently the young American musician was stalked by a group prior to a concert, and a physical confrontation started.  Mr. Rocky’s (aka Rakim May) lawyers say the artist acted in self defense, apparently Swedish authorities consider the event very serious.

(Via Fox5) Urged on by the first lady and celebrities including Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, the president had said in a Friday tweet that he would intervene to try to free Rocky, whose real name is Rakim May.

[…] The Swedish prime minister issued a statement earlier Saturday saying he would be glad to speak with Trump about A$AP Rocky’s detention but that his government “cannot and will not attempt to influence prosecutors or courts.”

“I understand that President Trump has a personal interest in the case….He has expressed the desire for a conversation with me, which is certainly positive,” Lofven said. “I will explain that the Swedish judicial system is independent. In Sweden, everyone is equal before the law, and this includes visitors from other countries.”

Rocky has been behind bars while Swedish police investigate the fight in Stockholm he allegedly was in before appearing at a music festival. Videos published on social media appear to show a person being violently thrown onto the ground by Rocky. A defense lawyer has said it was self-defense. (read more)

According to Page Six: “The White House has secured better jailhouse conditions for A$AP Rocky, Page Six has learned. The Harlem hip-hop star has been locked up in a Swedish prison for more than two weeks after he got in a street fight with two men who had been tailing him and his entourage through the streets of Stockholm. (more)

The incarceration without bail seems excessive, but from the action by the Swedish authorities perhaps the events were a bit more serious than currently understood.  As typical for a caturday, suspicious cat is in a holding pattern for more details while remaining suspicious….

    • President Trump can pull off a political earthquake if he handles this right. Use his influence to get the rapper released, and then invite him to a rally for a short concert.

Don’t hold your breath. Answer honestly this: Would you be horribly surprised if after the rapper returns, he makes statements like “I never asked for his help” or “he didn’t help at all” or “…was ineffective.” Would you be surprised if A$AP makes the business decision to publicly reject Trump in every way? Kanye West is a rebel in this regard, it’s true but he’s also less popular in certain circles to put it mildly. A$AP may well decide it’s in his interests to attempt to maintain his “street cred.” Consider how important this actually is to have gone through the prison system in order to establish credibility. Theirs is a VERY different culture.

Seems like that happened before. It was with the two college basketball players. The dad said, “We never asked for help”. And no one said they appreciated anything.
Stars reached out for help. Yep. And then back to the status quo of disparaging POTUS.

I don’t care. Of course I wish they’d be grateful, but it’s more important to send a message. The days of screwing with US citizens abroad are over. It’s not an isolated incident either, President Trump has been strong in support of all the travelers he hears about. It doesn’t hurt that the guy is black either, politically. We know President Trump is not a racist but lots of people don’t.

The American people embrace, honesty, truth, and fairness. We do NOT want a president who tries to cut deals with countries to get criminals out of jail. Perhaps the rapper did nothing, perhaps he did. He is the one who went to another country and when you do, you have to play by their laws.
I think we are all sick and tired of the wealthy, the elite, Hollywood, government officials, big business tycoons, and media reps being allowed to commit any crime and not having to serve time for it.
Why would we want our president to cut deals for someone just to get votes? That is not the person that I voted for. I don’t care about the votes of people who elevate celebrities above truth and honesty.

What happened to the muslims? Are they in jail? On what charge is the rapper being held? Lots of information missing.

It seems that the rapper has probably had security training in dealing with fans, and the security guard was professional. He hasn’t been convicted yet, and I would think that in a fair trail, with the US government watching, that it would be hard to convict him of anything.

Swiss- I think this is turning out to be a GREAT move. Here’s why:
        – PT is standing up for a U.S. Citizen internationally, sending the signal to other countries to treat us fairly.
        – PT is helping his friends, which is a big part of who he is.
-PT is showing he is not racist.

        – But, most importantly… I just went out to Brunch with my 17 year old son who does not like to talk about politics with his friends because it’s “divisive”. He also doesn’t keep up with politics. He knows we’re big PT supporters, but he says most kids don’t like him. (Presumably because of all the negative media, especially regarding the border issues.) We live in a conservative Dallas-Fort Worth area suburb, so there are plenty of parental PT supporters.

I asked my son if he’s heard of A$AP Rocky. Of course he has (I had not until this.) I asked if he knew he was in jail. He said yes, “in Sweden”. I asked him if he knew President Trump was trying to get him out. He said, “yes, do you think he can?”

I was floored! He actually unknowingly was paying attention to politics and PT was doing something good that my son could see for himself! We NEED the younger folks to dial in more, and PT knows this. This seemingly small gesture from the President, is having far reaching effects.

And this is after the Muslims had already physically assaulted the bodyguard.

Several people have explained that these Muslim migrants are a protected class in Sweden, they can commit crimes with impunity, and if you resist them the Swedish authorities arrest you for a hate crime. Nothing falls through the cracks with this particular President. His is not a hapless administration, as others in our history have been. President Trump has been cultivating sources and resources for his entire adult life and therefore has access to crucial information unavailable to others.

This White House is like a beehive. A swarm of highly-qualified and dedicated staff is perpetually tasked with research and legal implications of a host of issues and challenges, past, present and future.

If we have even 10% of President Trump’s vision and prescience, we will observe each “mini-tornado” he encounters with anticipation. There’s a reason he responded the way he did to the rally chant and is working on behalf of this rapper.

He may intentionally appear to be impetuous, unprepared and even careless, for the purposes of distraction and even subterfuge at times, but he is never impetuous or careless. Never.

Maybe, but no one is perfect. It doesn,t seem as though he and his security staff saw the “send her back” chant at the rally. Will be interesting to see how the attendees at the Aug 1st rally deal with this. My feeling is that there will be leftist plants at all future rallies that. Will instigate these types of chants and the “media” will be fanning the flames over it.l

Of course there was nothing wrong with the chant. It was done just as much in fun as being serious. President Trump didn’t smile or encourage it and it died out. The problem is the left can call our president a M-fkr and any other vile name they can think of but people at a Trump rally are not allowed to chant what they’re thinking. It is not a big deal and anyone who thinks it is sides with the left’s version of what is acceptable for Trump supporters to say and do. Trump supporters chant for a few minutes, Antifa attacks people physically, press and the leftist ignore Antifa and call President Trump and his supporters racist. It’s all a manufactured upset as usual.

Yes they were looking for a fight. They probably were used to getting their way in Sweden and other parts of the world. They picked the wrong group of Americans. Add to that they used the headphones as weapons.

And of course we can’t overlook the two 800-pound gorillas in the room. First were the ones not charged Muslim? The ambassador or someone like that was interviewed and they were asked why the other party wasn’t arrested or charged. They danced all around not having to answer that question. Second was the rapper and his entourage charged because they are black? Now Sweden might not care what the perception of black people of Sweden is, but it’s there now. Of course it could be they just want to punish Americans or any outsiders getting into fight.

The cab may have been “prudent”. But, OTOH, shouldn’t we be able to stroll around a foreign city taking in the sights w/o being harassed?

The whole situation was so surreal, and the “Swedes” so bash*t crazy and off the planet, that I can see why Asap and crew just assumed that those creeps would let it go at some point.

They had no way of knowing that this is accepted behavior in Sweden and that normal people must conform and adjust to the insane.

As far as I can see, the only thing Asap and crew are guilty of is not being informed- or if you prefer willfully ignorant- of the true situation in Sweden. This has been going on since 2014. It is not new. The fact that the Left in this country willfully ignores it doesn’t give one a pass, IMO.

Avoid Sweden at all costs. It’s a mess, and has been for a while now. Furthermore, there is no indication that it will change for the better. It gets WORSE with each passing year. Much worse.

    • Compare and contrast this craziness– It would seem that it’s quite acceptable to rape a woman if the assailant is moslem. There is no recourse and defending oneself will be penalized by the authorities. I don’t agree with these ground rules, but this is what appears to be acceptable by the Swedish norms.

Now, check this out, when one ISN’T moslem– “According to the statement, Miss A then realised (sic) he was trying to have unprotected sex with her. She told police that she had tried a number of times to reach for a condom but Assange had stopped her by holding her arms and pinning her legs. The statement records Miss A describing how Assange then released her arms and agreed to use a condom, but she told the police that at some stage Assange had “done something” with the condom that resulted in it becoming ripped, and ejaculated without withdrawing.” Later, the chick said there was no physical injury and she was primarily upset because Assange wouldn’t get a test for STDs. And now he’s looking at one YEAR in Swedish PRISON for this? It’s insane, however, this ‘event’ took place in 2010, and maybe the Swedes hadn’t fully acclimated to their new cultural rules.

He calls the Swedes and gets better jail conditions for the rapper until further discussions can happen within the next few days. “Racist” POTUS gains half a million “likes” on just one tweet and new followers on Twitter.

Look for more and more similarly outrageous stories to come out. It seems that very few of us have been following the way European countries have been treating their own citizens lately, but when they start doing it to Americans…well, that’s a different story. Then people will really wake up and hopefully come to realize that this is what we face in our own USA if we allow it to happen.

However, the government is constitutionally forbidden to get involved in the work of the courts. The main problem is that Sweden now has a new cadre of feminist liberal prosecutors and judges. Knew a guy sentenced to 10 years in prison (got out in 7 for good behavior), for felony murder.
Was invited to ‘step outside’, and followed the guy out to fight. As the guy went thru the door in front of him, he knew as soon as the guy got outside he was going to turn and punch, so he punched him in the kidney.
Guy stumbled forward, fell hitting his head on a parking bumper, and died from head injury.

Doesn’t MATTER that they both agreed to ‘step out side’ (fight). The first one to throw a punch is guilty of assault, which is a FELONY. Commit a FELONY and someone dies, its FELONY MURDER.
Doesn’t MATTER that killing wasn’t intentional, like bank robber with toy gon, and teller has heart attack.

So, I take the training in concealed carry permit class to apply to fists, as well.
You DON’T go into potential situations where you may have to defend yourself.
You don’t SHOW your weapon, if you draw it you USE it.
And you don’t USE it, unless you or someone is in EMMINENT danger of death or serious bodily harm.

So, just for me. Verbal insults, no matter how demeaning, disgusting or hurtful, and whether directed at me, wife, daughters, home, car, dog, religion or country will NOT cause me to swing first.
They are, words, and don’t break bones,
and aren’t worth a human life. Nor are they worth going to prison for, believe me.
Like PDJT, I don’t allow my emotions to dictate my actions, and I am a counterpuncher.
My opponent swings the first punch, I swing the last punch, fights over.

Twice in last 3 years, I have had someone standing on my porch, challenging me to come out on the porch, so they could kick my *ss.

I didn’t. That would have been an ‘affirmative act’ and a prosecutor would ask “WHY did you go out?”

Now, if either of these idiots would have said “Well, if you won’t come down, then I’ll come up!” and attempted to enter my trailer, I’d have dropped them in a literal heartbeat.

Don’t know about Sweden, or muzzies, etc. But in most jurisdictions, despite the provocation, the one who escalates the, situation to PHYSICAL, despite the verbal provocation, goes to jail for assault.
Officers, looking at the rapper and his body guard, and the punks, probably found it hard to believe thugs threw first blow (and frankly, so do I).

So, to get him better treatment, maybe to defuse international situation get him released with a fine, ….

WE don’t know what happened, despite videos. If the cops detirmined he threw first punch, then he’s going to jail.
Thats true on ‘south chicago’, Sweden or Uganda.

And one of the reason cops and courts take ‘just a fist fight’ seriously is cause they know, from cases like the one described above, sometimes people die.

It very well could be just that simple.

Cutting of path to escape is a biggie, and is generally considered assault. You attempt to leave. They block you. You go a different route. Again, they block you. Haven’t struck you, just stood in your way, twice to prevent you leaving.
        Thats assault, in most jurisdictions.
Waving fists, probably not considered threatening enough.
Knife out, they are down for the count, whether wife kids present or not.
They just gave me legal justification.
Outnumbered? Thats what a zombie blaster round is for.
Actually, a flair shot just over their heads is almost as good; blinds them for several minutes.
ZB round deafens AND blinds them, but only deafens you, lasts 7-10 minutes, and will work with a group or gang, anyone within 20′ or so.
And yeah, jurisdictions vary, it doesn’t end well for them, been in court, been in prison so yes, alive.
But, ONLY as a last resort. NOT cause they are assholes, or ‘deserve’ an ‘asskicking’, are being ‘punks’, etc.

That should be the end of it. Other person has no clue WHY the other person doesn’t want a fight. Maybe they want to stay out of legal trouble. Maybe they’re packing & really don’t wanna kill anyone
