President Trump Participates in Border Security Meeting at White House…

Earlier this afternoon President Donald Trump held a cabinet room meeting with officials from multiple agencies to discuss the ongoing issues with border security.  In addition to the influx of illegal aliens, the scale of drugs and human trafficking is becoming a worsening crisis in the border region.

“The easy solution is for me to call a national emergency,” President Trump said. “But I’m not going to do that so fast as this is something Congress should do and we’re waiting for the Democrats to vote.” Adding, “what we need is common sense.”

It looks good but it can be easily sawed through with a sawzall.

      • mac says:

Sawed through with a sawzall? Probably, if you have one that has enough horsepower and the proper, small-tooth, bimetallic blades. That kind of work usually calls for an outlet, which might not be readily available out there. And several hours to cut a hole big enough to get through. Consequently, I think “easily” is not really appropriate for this task.

That also assumes there are no other sensors implanted on that fence to alert CBP personnel that someone is cutting through the fence. Since the French had that technology on the Morice Line in Algeria in the late 50’s-early 60’s, I’d be surprised if it is not included on this installation as well, particularly in the more remote areas. Seeing a drone or a helicopter showing up 20 minutes after starting the cut will pretty much put paid to that particular invasion effort.

If you watch the video and listen to the president, the high strength steel is hollow and filled with concrete. Your sugesstion of a sawzall or any other method would be met with failure and teargas when the border patrol arrives.

        • mopar2016 says:

“If the border patrol arrive” would be more accurate. It’s a long border.

How about a cutting torch? Would that be useless too?

          • GB Bari says:

Yes. A torch does not cut concrete. That’s why contractors use pneumatic jackhammers and handheld sledgehammers on concrete.
A concrete filled steel column would need a powerful saw with a blade that cuts both steel and masonry.
It’s not impossible, but it isnt going to be quick and easy. And blades will wear out with each cut. Creating a hole in the wall large enough for personnel to pass through requires four cuts to remove at least two adjacent sections. That will take a while. And it will be noisy as heck, not stealthy.

Look up the NBC News report that came out today. Marine Corps Breachers cut a hole in the steel slat fence in short order. If you look closely at the pictures it appears as if there might be ONE piece of rebar in the slats. The steel slat wall is a joke.

Also, who is the moron at Border Patrol who said they need to see the other side of the border? The Border Patrol is not watching the smugglers, the smugglers are watching Border Patrol. The smugglers own the initiative.

Smuggler stays concealed. Watches Border Patrol drive by and disappear over the hill. Smuggler drives up to fence and hands packages through the fence. Smuggler drives away. Smuggling operation complete. No need to breach the steel slat wall.

Dirtbag on the Mexico side decides to take a pot-shot at Border Patrol, which is happening with increasing frequency. 50/50 chance the bullet hits the steel slat or passes through the opening. If I’m the Border Agent on patrol I’m not liking these odds.

Industrial concrete, steel reinforced wall. Smuggler can’t see through it. Can’t shoot through it. Cameras on the wall. Drones overhead. Smuggler has no idea what is on the other side of the wall. But Border Patrol knows exactly what is happening on the smuggler’s side of the wall.

Guess what? Now Border Patrol owns the initiative. Basic tactical truths. Any 20 year old Ranger Sergeant could explain these facts to the geniuses in DC and the moronic brass at Border Patrol.

OCOKA, METT-T, MOOSEMUSS. Been the tactical gospel since Robert Rogers codified it in “Rogers Standing Orders.” First official military manual in US history.

I watched a documentary a while ago on the design of some of these new supermax prisons and it mentions a new type of concrete that was extremely hard and durable so it’s almost impossible to break through over time.

I wonder they are using a similar type of concrete to pump into the hollow of the high strength steel in the new barrier/wall.

      • jameswlee2014 says:

No, it can’t. The sections NBC reported were cut with oxy acetylene cutting torches. A sawzall won’t make a scratch.

Many call for the emergency declaration because it is, in fact, a national emergency and has been for a very long time. The elites in this country just do not consider it as such.

About 3000 Americans are killed every year by the actions of illegal aliens and many others are robbed, raped and mutilated at their hands. This without considering the enormous cost of the benefits and other public funds that are spent on them.

If the President enacts the emergency provisions he should ignore any injunctions from courts and drive on with a proper wall. American lives would be lost in the time it would take to appeal.

One way Trump could play this is to declare the national emergency and say he is willing to reopen the government under a series of rolling short term CRs as long as the wall is being built. If the Democrats go to a Hawaiian judge for an injunction, he lets the current CR expire and the government shuts back down. But if the Democrats make a show of fighting in court without actually halting construction, the government stays open, the wall gets built, and the Democrats get to tell their base they’re doing everything they can.

just declare a national emergency and start going through the process including the courts
AND in the meantime, keep the shutdown going as is putting congress on the line for a vote.
even if the national emergency route works first, insist that congress does its job and can pay the military back with funding that is voted on. that way, leverage doesn’t evaporate with a court decision

The president provides you the answer in the video.

His experience in construction using General Contractors is cited in his answer to your question in this video. I work for a GC myself and he is absolutely spot on with his answer.

The wall is being built currently being built using contractors with the money previously appropriated for this. Nothing is paid yet because his terms are payment will be made upon completion and the job has been approved. Trust me, those firms will be dead on and ahead of schedule so they can get paid. You get the best quality work with these terms.

The $5+ billion is for future construction. Bi-partisan support is the best way to accomplish this to bring some form of unity in this country. The democrats however are choosing to hang themselves with their own rope. Hell it’s only January 11th and they are already a toilet swirl.

The president is in control of the issue and he wins either way.
If the democrats agree to the wall, the nation wins, the president wins, but the democrats may actually be looked at some level above the pond scum level they currently are perceived.

But they are moronic. They will go against what is right. So in that case the president declares an emergency. The nation wins, the president wins big and the democrats officially sink to being perceived as squid shit.

  21. Please don’t label me an Eeyore, but I’m beginning to wonder why the US has a President. Everything he does, every move he makes for the good of the people can be stopped by so many. If the President , elected by the majority of the people cannot make decisions and keep his promises to us without being sued, counter attacked at every move and threatened for upholding our Constitution, why do we have this most treasured office? More importantly, when are we the people who elected our VSG President Donald Trump , when are we truly going to stand and do something? I read several news agencies reporting today that Go Fund Me is going to refund all the money donated to fund the wall. If we as Americans cannot do something to help our President keep his promise and secure our country, where does that leaves us? I’m a very senior woman and I’ve been trying so hard to make a difference since President Trump took office because I believe in him and I want a better country for my grandchildren, but I’m slowly giving up hope. Lord, please look down upon us and help save our country.

The quick answer is that this happens because the American people elected someone that wasn’t approved by deep state. The problem is so many still believe we have 2 separate parties in DC when in fact we have 1 with separate social issue caucuses. “The easy solution is for me to call a national emergency,” President Trump said. “But I’m not going to do that so fast as this is something Congress should do and we’re waiting for the Democrats to vote.”

Somewhere in this statement, there is a strategy.

Obviously he’s putting the brakes on the “National Emergency” (NE) momentum. OK, got that.

Lets read between the lines for other things.

Why does he say calling for a National Emergency is an easy solution? Easy solution to what problem? The getting a wall up problem? Or the getting paychecks to Gov. Employees problem? Or fulfilling his campaign promise (i.e., keeping his base) problem ?

I think what he’s saying here is that declaring a National Emergency would be followed by (a) paychecks flowing again to Gov workers and (b) the wall issue would be thrown to Congress and the courts for final resolution. If Congress/Courts deny his declaration, then the country’s condition reverts back to the status quo of years past. In essence, the can gets kicked down the road, once again.
In this scenario, however, he can easily declare to his base that he gave it all he had and blame the Congress and the Courts. That, in summary, is the “easy solution.” Which he is, apparently, disavowing.

“…this is something Congress should do…” What is this “something” Congress should do. Simple, I think. Secure the border with funds, in part, for a wall. “Democrats in Congress should do it” is where, I think, he’s headed.

IOW, look for the government shutdown to continue. It’s the way he’ll put pressure on Democrats. He’s going to try the hard way – getting Democrats to come around.

That’s my take. At least today

The present stand-off is a very good presidential strategy. The courts cannot enjoin the congress from exercising its constitutional responsibility to fund the government. Further, an extended delay in reopening the closed parts of the federal government provides increasing proof those shuttered agencies REALLY ARE NONESSENTIAL. I saw something on TV that shutting down the National Park Service prevents the collection of entrance fees at National Parks. How is that harmful to the American people? Those park service fees are an impediment to Americans visiting the parks they already own !

What is really great about the shutdown at Yellowstone National Park is how it hurts the greedy businesses at Gardiner and West Yellowstone, Montana, who have been ripping off tourists by charging them exorbitant prices for many years, Try to buy a meal in Gardiner MT, at a reasonable price. Gardiner is just outside the north entrance to Yellowstone.

A lot of these national parks have become so full of federal employees and vendors, they are an expensive outrage to the American people. Kick out these expensive parasites and encourage tourists to pack and bring their own food to prepare and eat when they visit. Stop worrying about plowing and improving the roads there. The parks are being overrun by traffic jams and chartered busloads of foreigners. None of that is good for the preservation of wildlife species in those parks.

Who needs the Department of Energy? Who needs the Department of Labor? Who needs the Department of Education? …..and on and on and on….

Who needs the enormous traffic jams in Washington DC? Get rid of hundreds of thousands of federal employees in Washington DC and make that city’s landmarks worth visiting.
