Successful Russian Cyber Attack Against White House and State Department – Details Now Surfacing…

On October 25th of last year we noted something was odd. In the evening the White House was totally unaware of what happened in the news regarding the Islamist Hatchet attack in New York against two cops a few hours earlier. Our suspicions grew the next day when the NSC meeting was moved from the White House to the State Department building; something was not passing the sniff test. We suspected a communication network breach, possibly a hack.

On October 28th our suspicions were confirmed when the White House admitted a security breach into the Executive Office of The President. The breach had taken place three days prior according to an official release to Reuters: “The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, would not say who might have been responsible for the activity on what was described as an unclassified computer network used by employees of the Executive Office of the President”.

Today we find out who was behind the cyber breach. The Russians hacked the communication network of the EOP (Executive Office Of The President). However, we also find out the cyber hack was far more extensive than previously shared. [ NOTE – The State Department was also hacked – So now we wonder if Russia has possession of Hillary Clinton’s emails ]

Washington (CNN)—Russian hackers behind the damaging cyber intrusion of the State Department in recent months used that perch to penetrate sensitive parts of the White House computer system, according to U.S. officials briefed on the investigation.

While the White House has said the breach only affected an unclassified system, that description belies the seriousness of the intrusion. The hackers had access to sensitive information such as real-time non-public details of the president’s schedule. While such information is not classified, it is still highly sensitive and prized by foreign intelligence agencies, U.S. officials say.

The White House in October said it noticed suspicious activity in the unclassified network that serves the executive office of the president. The system has been shut down periodically to allow for security upgrades.

The FBI, Secret Service and U.S. intelligence agencies are all involved in investigating the breach, which they consider among the most sophisticated attacks ever launched against U.S. government systems. The intrusion was routed through computers around the world, as hackers often do to hide their tracks, but investigators found tell-tale codes and other markers that they believe point to hackers working for the Russian government.

A spokesman for the National Security Council declined to comment. Neither the U.S. State Department nor the Russian Embassy immediately responded to a request for comment.

Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama’s deputy national security adviser, said the White House’s use of a separate system for classified information protected sensitive national security-related items from being obtained by hackers.

“We do not believe that our classified systems were compromised,” Rhodes told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday.

“We’re constantly updating our security measures on our unclassified system, but we’re frankly told to act as if we need not put information that’s sensitive on that system,” he said. “In other words, if you’re going to do something classified, you have to do it on one email system, one phone system. Frankly, you have to act as if information could be compromised if it’s not on the classified system.”

To get to the White House, the hackers first broke into the State Department, investigators believe.

The State Department computer system has been bedeviled by signs that despite efforts to lock them out, the Russian hackers have been able to reenter the system. One official says the Russian hackers have “owned” the State Department system for months and it is not clear the hackers have been fully eradicated from the system. (read more)

Here’s the bright side: “The State Department was also hacked – So now we wonder if Russia has possession of Hillary Clinton’s emails.” We probably have a MUCH better chance to get them from the Russians than we ever would from the Clintons.

Here’s a thought… perhaps the State Department (and subsequently, the WH) was hacked THROUGH Hillary’s emails. The ones on the private server. That’d be sort of embarassing, wouldn’t it?

I think this might be a cover story for intensive computer scrubbing. We were hacked by the Russians, so we ground up all the hard drives and started over.

Right, we had to scrub everything since we could not ensure the hackers were out of the system.

The USA cannot be trusted. Look how fast they were to blame North Korea over Sony. We are at war with Russia. Don’t believe anything they put out in reference to Russia. For all we know it was Israel that make it look like it was the Russians while they were looking for Iranian nuke deals.

This is very fishy. Why would the WH want to publish news of successful hacking? Note who does the talking: Ben Rhodes. We want you to know that we, at the WH and the State Dept., are so incredibly stupid and incompetent. . . . .

As you all know, Rhodes has the job because he’s the younger brother of the head of CBS News (David Rhodes). It was previously reported that he is in reality a fiction writer with no previous National Security experience. It appears that Obozo uses this title lightly in order to validate the hacks he hires to polish his image, craft excuses and point fingers elsewhere.

Hilary must have figured the security system on her personal server was much more sophisticated than the goverment’s security. Absolutely hacker proof.

The Russians understood the strategic importance of hacking from early on – in the early 90s they were already setting up university classes in hacking. One joint intel command I was at received high 3-digit hack-attacks a day and on occasions even more. These weren’t all (precious few actually) nerds living in their parents’ basements, they were growing sophisticated attacks by people from outside US borders.
The Chinese have an entire command dedicated to cyberwar, both defensive and offensive, and I wonder how many of the medical records attacks we’re seeing are a Chinese attempt to build a huge database on the US as a whole.Hey, you’d think that stealing a million medical records at a time there’d be beaucoup more identity theft than there is – after a short while the financial aspects of the stolen data are no more.
OI wonder how many of the Russian cyberattacks are Russian government sites sharpening their skills, expanding their budgets and picking up miscellaneous data on US citizens, not Russian geeks living in their parents’ dachas’ basements.
Not in a position to dig that data up anymore and anyway, I’m too busy truing to protect my personal info from my own government.

there are also 2 Russian naval (spy) ships operating off US shores, one just up from Venezuela.
think that could have anything to do with this ?

      • czarowniczy says:

They have something to do with something. The configuration of the ships would dictate what they’re doing, but the Russians have never really given upon spying on us – we are target Number One.
Don’t forget that, as in teh Cold War, Russian commercial ships plying US waters and ports can also be outfitted with an array of ‘spy’ gear, tain’t just the trawlers or more obvious spy ships. Another question is ‘are they operating alone or in tandem with other ships such as submarines ?’. Russia is neither friendly nor impotent.

So cool when your spidey-sense is confirmed, sundance!

Now, if only the Russians would tell us what they found! Where was Obama born? Did he work for the CIA? What is on that infamous passport? What SSN is true? But the Russians will probably just threaten him with it and we’ll never know 😦 Odd thing is, Obama was doing their bidding even without threats, lol.
If Mossad hacked the WH they might spill and we’d actually learn something 🙂

It was a hellish few months, Oct, Nov, December as I found one hairy thing after the other on the internet, until the pattern started to appear and I realized that agit prop comes from the Chinese and the Russians, too, who fill the blog comments and the YouTube “news” video channels with enough misinformation to choke a horse. Seemed like the intent was to polarize. One need only to look at some of the Ferguson video to realize that the news outlets aren’t legitimate and some green screen is in play.

A few weeks ago articles came out confirming the Russians have trolls on the payroll in the Ukrainian situation. Of course stirring up US relations would serve them.

Then this and it crystalizes even more. They were hacking the press office, knew what the WH cared about and propagandized all over the place in confounding response.
