In a recent Washington Post article author Mike Wise opines the winter Olympics are an international assembly of white people and compares the athletic contest to “the inside of a snow globe”.
Apparently the absence of black athletes is due to institutional racism. Perhaps it’s time the Eric Holder DOJ rules of “disparate impact” are applied to Olympic athletics to insure more black people don skis, skates and snowboards equitably.
(I swear no bias toward curling implied)
Perhaps Olympic medals should be divided and shared; after all, at some point, you’ve just got to reach the conclusion whitey has earned enough medals. Heck, why go through all the pesky mathematical formulations to insure statistical representative appropriateness – perhaps the IOC could just appoint medals based on the same qualifications of Peace Prizes, or something.
The ridiculous diatribe actually published in the Washington Post is absurd beyond an imaginable magnitude; but what the heck, why let athletics out of the race-baiting equation.
It’s high time the Black Grievance Industry stepped up and sent Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to the hinterlands to give voice to the unrepresented Dreamers.
Maybe they could finally bring racial equity to cross country skiing – C’mon don’t black people have the right to exhaust themselves in 15k frigid competition after a decade of 3% body fat and physical training amid the snow covered fjords.
And where’s the Saudi Arabian contingent ?
I’m sure there is an Obama Phone ap for that; there must be, because if their ain’t then phone aps’ are racist and most certainly some underserved group has an application for a federal grant to study it. After all, there might be turtles in them there fjords in need of protective tunneling away from ski chatter.
The WaPo article by Mike Wise is a must read because, according to his logic, it all boils down to a U.S. urban disparity devoid of snow and ice, or something.
However, as you read the wunderkin thesis, think about Ice Hockey.
Last I heard, and every census confirms, almost every major urban city (Philly, Newark, Boston, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Tampa, Los Angeles, Cleveland, et al) all hold vast swaths of the perpetually aggrieved and yet they have just as much access to skating rinks as other childhood fans of The Flyers, The Devils, The Bruins, The Black Hawks, well, you get the gist….
…. according to Mr. Wise (yeah, I know, the irony within the name is… well, never mind) it takes a Sharpton to avoid a snow globe.
Or something.
Now, about that basketball diversity ?…..
