Lemon took note of all the people pointing out online how angry he’s been over the case, saying, “I know people are saying Don Lemon is pissed on Twitter. Yes, I am pissed! I am absolutely pissed!”

He continued, “I think there needs to be a Mind Your Business law that goes along with the Stand Your Ground law.”  (link)

(JACKSONVILLE)  Jurors took more nearly 40 hours and finally decided: Michael David Dunn is guilty of attempted murder in the November shootings that killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis in a dispute over loud music.

The jury said it could not break its deadlock on the more serious charge of Davis’ murder, and Judge Russell Healey declared a mistrial on that count.

Dunn was convicted on three counts of the attempted murders of the three teenagers who were riding with Davis in a Dodge Durango. Dunn also was convicted on a weapons charge. (more…)

Mitch McConnell said two weeks ago on Fox News Sunday the GOP would attach demands to a debt ceiling vote:

“We ought to attach something significant for the country to [Obama’s] request to increase the debt ceiling,” McConnell said. “That’s been the pattern for fifty years, going back to the Eisenhower administration. I think it’s the responsible thing to do for the country. I think he’s the one being irresponsible by saying, ‘Oh, just raise the debt ceiling. We’re not going to do anything about the debt or anything else that’s important to the country.'”

Yet, when the time came to actually deliver on fiscal restraint, it was Mitch McConnell who led the Senate Chamber to give Obama a blank check and raise the debt limit with no fiscal restraint and no demands.   And if you don’t like that, if you oppose him, Mitch says “bring it on”…  I will not be defied. At 7:00am (US eastern time live on NBC Sports) the United States hockey team will face the Russians in their second game.    The U.S. and Russia are in the same bracket and both won their first game.     Today they face off.

In a recent Washington Post article author Mike Wise opines the winter Olympics are an international assembly of white people and compares the athletic contest to “the inside of a snow globe”.

Apparently the absence of black athletes is due to institutional racism.  Perhaps it’s time the Eric Holder DOJ rules of “disparate impact” are applied to Olympic athletics to insure more black people don skis, skates and snowboards equitably.

(I swear no bias toward curling implied)

Perhaps Olympic medals should be divided and shared;  after all, at some point, you’ve just got to reach the conclusion whitey has earned enough medals.   Heck, why go through all the pesky mathematical formulations to insure statistical representative appropriateness – perhaps the IOC could just appoint medals based on the same qualifications of Peace Prizes, or something.

The ridiculous diatribe actually published in the Washington Post is absurd beyond an imaginable magnitude; but what the heck, why let athletics out of the race-baiting equation.   (more…)

TENNESSEE – President Barack Obama on Friday waded into a high-stakes union vote at Volkswagen AG’s plant in Tennessee, accusing Republican politicians who oppose unionization of being more concerned about German shareholders than U.S. workers.

Obama’s comments, made at a closed-door meeting of Democratic lawmakers in Maryland, came as the vote to allow union representation at the Chattanooga plant drew to a close.

The vote will have wide-reaching implications for the auto industry in the South, where all foreign-owned assembly plants employ nonunion labor, and for the United Auto Workers union, which could use a victory to reverse a decades-long downward spiral.

The vote has faced fierce resistance from local Republican politicians and national conservative groups who have warned that a UAW victory could hurt economic growth in Tennessee. While voting was under way on Wednesday, Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker said VW could announce new investment in the plant if the UAW lost the secret ballot.  (read more)

(Via Telegraph)  The US army has built a fake city designed to be used during combat training   exercises.   The 300 acre ‘town’ includes a five story embassy, a bank, a school, an   underground subway and train station, a mosque, a football stadium, and a   helicopter landing zone.

According to Jacksonville Florida media reports the jury in the Michael Dunn trial is deadlocked on at least one count. Here’s the latest:

JACKSONVILLE – They are deadlocked on at least one of the charges against him.

Around 5 p.m. jurors sent a question to acting Circuit Judge Russell Healey asking if it was possible to not reach a verdict on one count and reach a verdict on the other counts. Healey told them that was possible, and then granted a request they made for a 30-minute break.

The jurors appeared exhausted when they came into the courtroom, and one juror appeared to be close to crying. Dunn is charged with the murder of Jordan Davis, the attempted murders of Tevin Thompson, Leland Brunson and Tommie Stornes and shooting or firing a deadly missile. (more…)

Perhaps this explains why Maryland was so sensitive to avoid any inquiry in the case of John Filippidis.    It certainly sounds like the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Hub is but a mere test venue for a larger federally linked data hub of the same information.

Were the feds using Maryland to establish the protocols ?   It sure seems that is a very strong possibility…… and, if so, the denial of the FOIA would make even more sense.

In Mr. Filippidis example the “hot list – target vehicles” appeared to be CCW holders.

WASHINGTON DC – The Department of Homeland Security is set to activate a national license plate tracking system that will be shared with law enforcement, allowing DHS officers to take photos of any license plate using their smartphone and upload it to a database which will include a “hot list” of “target vehicles”.
