National Rifle Association leadership called for unity around Donald Trump today following a contentious primary race.
(Via ABC News) The National Rifle Association has endorsed Donald Trump for president at today’s convention. Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, made the endorsement immediately before Trump walked on stage.
“Now is the time to unite. If your preferred candidate dropped out of the race, it’s time to get over it,” Cox said earlier in his remarks.
The news of the endorsement came shortly before Trump addressed the group at their convention in Kentucky. Trump talked about “crooked Hillary” and said that Clinton is “anti-gun,” claiming that she plans to take away guns if she is elected. He also spoke about how situations like the mass shooting in San Bernardino could be avoided if more people had guns. (more…)

I just finished reading the ruling of Texas federal Judge Andrew Hanen (full pdf below)  directed to the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and all DOJ Attorneys appearing in any federal court of the 26 states outlined in the State of Texas v U.S. “DAPA” lawsuit.

To say the ruling is both righteous and stunning would be a disservice to the words “Righteous” and “Stunning”.

Judge Hanen has ordered all DOJ attorneys appearing in any federal court of the 26 affected states to attend three hour mandatory ethics classes, this year and every year, for a period of five years. In addition Judge Hanen has given Loretta Lynch 60 days to file a written response outlining what specific corrective action she is personally taking to ensure all DOJ attorneys are truthful and honest:

• DOJ lawyers attend ethics class.
• DOJ provide a list of every name, address, and location of each DAPA recipient who was granted unlawful immunity.
• Attorney General to deliver a corrective plan within 60 days.

The ruling stems from the DOJ conduct in the Deferred Action for Parents of Aliens (DAPA), or Obama’s November 2014 “Executive Amnesty”, which led to a lawsuit from 26 states, which was recently argued in front of the Supreme Court.
In February 2015 Judge Hanen issued an injunction blocking DAPA from being implemented. This is a good poll to highlight sketchy poll outcomes, and teach yourself how to spot them.

A newly released NYT/CBS National Poll (full pdf below) shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by 6 points.  However, the weighting is D+8  (Rep 26, Dem 34, Ind 34)

NOTE (between Q#62 and Q#63 you’ll find a “curiously unnumbered” question):

• 26% of those polled are Republican
• 34% of those polled are Democrat
• 34% of those polled are Independent
• Poll Sample D+8

Well, it appears the reports from the Facebook PR control meeting with “conservative” punditry delivered the predictable outcomes.  The essential issue with the nonsensical meeting was abundantly evident before the thing even began.
Facebook called the meeting because they viewed the insider releases as a PR crisis, not as an opportunity to admit their deception and provide an explanation as to how they were going to improve.

As a consequence the entire meeting premise was targeted to give the appearance of concern, while their internal goals were PR optics only.  Obviously, almost all the attendees did not, or could not, see their roles as useful tools. (more…)

(Via ABC News) Donald Trump will change the role for one of his campaign’s top advisors, ABC News has learned.
Sources within the campaign said that Trump will name Paul Manafort to the new role of Campaign Chairman and Chief Strategist.
Manafort, who was brought on board early last month as a convention manager, was originally tasked with trying to secure Trump the necessary delegates to avoid a fight at the Republican convention.
