Tonight republican vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence appeared on Fox TV with Sean Hannity for his first interview since the announcement:

11:30pm Turkish President Recep Erdogan claims he is back in full control. Claims the coup has failed.

9:00pm Some Reports that Coup has failed / Others it has succeeded.  Unfortunately, if coup did fail, that means the Islamists have won.  If Islamists win, anticipate extreme backlash from a returning Recep Erdogan who will most likely go full dictator now.
Erdogan is notorious for punishing his enemies.  Erdogan will probably open the floodgates for more Islamists to flow freely into the European Union to punish the secularists for their uprising.
Recep Erdogan will therefore have replaced former EU blackmailer Muammar Gaddafi using the exact same strategy, uncontrolled immigration, to punish his neighbors.   The EU was previously paying Gaddafi €5+ million/yr to keep North African immigration under control.  If coup fails it will be a very bad day for the EU, as Erdogan will now leverage his dictatorial power to force EU compliance with his wishes.
This fits the grandiose plans of Erdogan swimmingly.  He desperately wants to recreate the Ottomoan Empire in his lifetime.

Washington (CNN) Congress released on Friday a long-classified report exploring the alleged ties of the Saudi Arabian government to the 9/11 hijackers.
Known as the “28 pages,” the secret document was part of a 2002 congressional investigation of the Sept. 11 attacks and has been classified since the report’s completion.

“This is great news,” said Jerry Goldman, a lawyer who represents families of victims in a class-action suit seeking to sue Saudi Arabia, ahead of the release. “The families are happy just as the American people should be happy that information that has been kept hidden for well over a decade is finally coming to light.” (more…)

Therese Apel, a reporter for the Clarion Ledger, has done some fantastic reporting on the murder case of Jessica Lynn Chambers.   Therese has a video update –HERE– Jessica’s death was a shocking and horrific murder that impacted many CTH readers including myself.
Today the man accused of burning Jessica to death, Quinton “Go Hard” Tellis, appeared in a Mississippi courtroom to face the charges.

Therese Apel – Quinton Tellis, 27, entered a not guilty plea in the 2014 burning death of a Mississippi teen that gained national attention.
Tellis is charged with capital murder, accused of setting Jessica Chambers, 19, on fire on a rural road in Courtland. She was found with burns over 98 percent of her body, officials said. (more…)

The Never Trump movement was never going anywhere.  The effort was simply silly in large measure because for the past two months no-one else was campaigning; no-one else was vetting a vice-president; no-one else was fundraising for the party… and no-one else was anywhere near the 1,500+ delegates with 14 million votes.
So it didn’t come as a big surprise when the last gasp of the Nevertrumpers, butthurt Cruzbots, ended with a parliamentary dull thud:

The latest Islamic Jihad attack against Western values took place yesterday in Nice, France.  Eye witnesses have reported the driver of the truck specifically targeted families with children, steering into them for maximum Jihadist terror value.  At least 80 men, women and children have been slaughtered.
