Not only is Oleg Atbashian an exceptional writer, as evidenced by this award winning essay on modern progs, but he’s also the artist behind the custom Brietbart Banner that tops our website.   He has a great blog “The Peoples Cube” – and his brilliant way of reflecting humor within the serious discussion posts is, well, just brilliant.

To preach tolerance and be so intolerant? To grieve for terror victims and justify terrorism? To stand up for workers and destroy their jobs? To march for peace and defend the militants? To denounce corruption and vote for the corrupt? To espouse non-violence and commit violent acts? To speak of liberties and promote government dictate? To bolster feminism and deride successful women? To cheer gays and aid the gay-bashers in the Middle East? To champion minorities as a group and hold them down as individuals? To care about the children and condemn them to intellectual mutilation? To denounce guns and hire armed bodyguards? To support the troops and side with their murderers? To demand love and be full of hate?

The Book of Progressive Chauvinism – There is a reason why snobby elites on the Upper West Side of Manhattan generously donate to leftist causes and support leftist politicians. Snobs and radicals often act in accord because they are not opposites, as some believe, but rather spiritual cousins – equally despising “the bourgeois,” sharing a low view of humanity as herd animals, and sorting people not on their individual merits but by color, income, occupation, ethnicity, gender, and any other characteristic except the content of their minds.

Elitists share the presumption that people of the world cannot think for themselves and have no room in their souls for individual ambitions and achievements outside of what the government is giving them. Short of stating it explicitly, elitism implies that “the masses” are mindless, spiritless creatures without free will, always in need of the largesse of the state, and for their own good the state ought to nationalize the country’s resources in order to feed its subjects. Last month we brought you the story of John Heinz Kerry’s new strategy for diplomacy.  {It was part of our “stuck on stupid” series}  In essence Ketchup Boy’s primary strategy is to put Western Businesses in the Middle East, subsidize their efforts, and hope that the jihadists will take off their suicide vests in favor of picking up a spatula (taking a job).  

At the time Kerry said:

“[W]e’re not going to solve this challenge of terror and of extremism and of people finding an alternative if we’re not reaching out to people, talking to them, bringing them to the table and trying to work through major, perceived differences,”

[…]  “I believe we have to create a new paradigm, frankly, to deal with this.”

[…]  He repeated that the new paradigm combines economic diplomacy with “significant diplomatic outreach.”

Several frequent and purposeful Treepers have been brought to the Refuge following a crumb trail of diversity in discussion. However, one common ingredient amid all the varying granola’s of conversation is defining the heart of the infection belaying the national rot, “Progressivism”.

If, in 2013, you subscribe your political affiliation to the Democrat Party, you are a progressive. There is no longer a manner of argument, nor level of word-smithing, so great as to evince an intellectual separation. It would be as illogical an attempt as to draw distinctions from Traditional or Moderate Islam while trying to discuss which form of shrapnel is probably contained within the approaching suicide vest.

Like it or not, the Political and Progressive Left has grasped full control of the Democrat Party. It is with that self-evident fact in mind a series of current essays on Modern Progressives has been written. Today we present one such essay brilliantly written by N. A. Et tu Bobte’ ….. You know things are seriously headed in the wrong direction for the Modern Liberal Establishment when even CBS’s Bob Schieffer stands aghast:

Schieffer probably runs up there in the stratospheric water-carrying media close to the same level of Mr. Tingles (Chris Matthews). So when you see propagandist sympathizers like him begin to doubt Dear Leader, you know trouble exists.

Given the recent revelations that both Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton lied to the police, and State Law enforcement, officers about their Son’s activity – and their parental involvement surrounding final few days of Trayvon Martin – it can reasonably be assumed that they also lied to their media consultant Ryan Julison.

This is really an epic display of prog-logic. I’m generally neutral on Juan Williams because he’s a centrist about 25% of the time. But sometimes his liberalism needle just gets fundamentally stuck-on-stupid. This is one of those times.

Watch how Williams spins the framework of Attorney Eric Holder approving and authorizing the direct Rosen subpoena. The non-judicially reviewed subpoena targeted all of Fox news reporter, James Rosen’s business phone, personal phone, email, and phone records of his entire geographic family including his parents, under the auspices of Rosen being an unindicted co-conspirator to criminal activity; The charge: Domestic Terrorism.

Yet here’s Juan Williams on one hand saying the charges are ridiculous – and obviously done to target a journalist under the most horrible of intentions – yet on the other hand saying it’s really not Eric Holder’s issue, and Holder can/should investigate himself.

*Note* Holder approved of the filing by the Asst Attorney General;  He approved of the charge, the content, and the scope of the investigation.   Holder signed off on the affidavit authorizing it.    Hello?….. Holder already approved the aspects Williams is saying Holder should investigate….

I was wondering when someone was going to pick up on this aspect of President Obama’s speech at National Defense University last Thursday.    POTUS was calling for “increased oversight” over drone use.   HIS drone use.

Glad to see the words and intent of the President did not escape at least one reporter, Brit Hume:

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume thinks it is very peculiar for President Barack Obama to call for executive power to be scaled back.

Hume noted on Fox News Sunday that Obama had “made generous use of” drone strikes.

“There’s an odd quality to this whole thing, and it is almost like he’s saying, with regard to the drone policy, ‘We need something to stop me before I kill again,’” he explained. “We can see that in his support on an unrelated matter on the shield law for journalists. He’s carried out these oversteps in pursuing journalists who are doing their job, and now he says ‘we need a shield law,’ as if to say we need a law to protect them from us.”

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.“

If I were to describe to you a social event which dictated a historical need for tens of thousands of labor hours from the Police, always ended with hundreds of arrests, was viewed as dangerous by the local citizenry, and which needed so much law enforcement for safety that private citizens willingly paid for the cops, complete strangers, to stay at their homes just so they could feel safe; You’d probably think I was crazy right?

What if we told you in addition to the above, in less than a 20 block radius the police were going to:

1. Install  18 continually monitored live CCTV cameras 24/7
2. Put 600 police officers in that same area – borrowing 200 from other towns.
3. Pre-install automatic license plate readers connected to Homeland Security.
4. Erect two dozen police staffed watchtowers.
5. Spend $140,000 to “rent” tanks and light armored vehicles with FLIR.
6. In total spend around $1,800,000.00 not including overtime for 4 days.

Consider this year’s event:

It has yet to really start, and yet – Police arrested 51 people [so far] between 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday afternoon.

Additionally – The police department has on loan a $140,000 all-terrain vehicle used in the military. The vehicle can use Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) to detect body heat nearly a mile away.

I mean what local government would keep subjecting themselves to the risks associated with allowing such a festival to take place year after year, knowing full well the same historical outcome would be repeated?   Why would they put themselves, and by consequence their community, through such intentional anxiety?
