We knew early last week this was going to be a divisive discussion because the inherent reality is stark and uncomfortable.

From what can be gathered from follow-up media reports the “mother” was 14 when the child was born (she is now 16).  The toddler was once injured with shrapnel during a drive by shooting, as the mother was also shot in the stomach. The child’s father was killed by a rival gang at the age of 17.

Child protective services, has been involved on more than one occasion with this family, and as a result of this video, and subsequent investigation, removed four children from the home. Trayvon Martin family attorney, Natalie Jackson, blames the police. This exchange with CNN’s Don Lemon is worth watching:

For over three years we have been tracking this new federal protocol of qualifying school punishment for misbehavior around the race of the offender.    The origin of the approach actually stems from Miami-Dade, Florida, and a diversionary tolerance program initiated by School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.

Carvalho is a close ally, and political affiliate, of both Barack and Michelle Obama.   Carvalho also turned down a position inside the Dept of Education which would have placed him second only to Education Secretary Arnie Duncan.

Carvalho’s program within the Miami-Dade school district actually preceded the Executive Order given by Barack Obama which initiated the new DOJ directives around “Disparate Impact”, establishing the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans.  Effectively placing “quotas” on school discipline based on race.

It  was also Carvalho’s widely heralded program which led to the Miami-Dade School Police Department putting Trayvon Martin into diversionary programs using School Discipline to replace Criminal Justice in an effort to avoid a criminal record. (more…)

HatTip to iOTW.  Who Shares –  The latest book by Jack Cashill uses the Zimmerman case to explain how the  left gins up a story in order to serve the narrative they need to create at the  time.
His insightful discussion on his book airs early tomorrow morning at  1:15 am on BookTV (CSPAN2).  I found the first 10 minutes of his  presentation on YouTube.  It’s an eye-opening peek at how the left created  the concept of Agitprop and how it is used today.

He writes that Martin was a drug user and streetfighter who was legitimately confronted and shot by Zimmerman. Mr. Cashill spoke at the Platte County Resource Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Peoria Local Media are shocked, shocked I tell ya, shocked. The mythical knock out assaults, they are programmed to deny exist, all of a sudden show up on their doorsteps. The video -available at the link- tells it all.  The answer to the obvious is “YES”.
Illinois – […]  Daniel Wilson says he was walking home last night from the bus stop on Harrison. When he got to Folkers Avenue across from Trewyn middle school, he was blind sided by two attackers.
Luckily for Wilson, a nearby youth program officer, an ELITE officer, Bill Cannon, was able to identify the attackers.
The victim says he’s shocked at who they were.
“I never thought in a million years that grade school students would try to knock me out,” said Wilson.   (read more with VIDEO REPORT)

They have a literary agent?   Out of an abundance of caution, and under the advice of physicians, I will refrain from commentary.  FOR NOW.   However, I would like to know your thoughts on what their book should be titled.

(NEW YORK) The parents of Trayvon Martin met with publishers this week to shop a book about their son, the unarmed black teenager who was shot and killed in Florida in 2012.

According to two publishing executives who participated in meetings, Mr. Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, said they intended to write a book that gives the full picture of their son while tracing their own experience of shock and sorrow.
The meetings were described as somber and moving by publishers who were present. Ms. Fulton and Mr. Martin were accompanied by Jan Miller, their Dallas-based literary agent. (more…)

The ironic thing is that Marcellus Jones is mostly correct.    If Marcellus “Ant North” Jones was actually seventeen,  instead of his current age of 35, his self identification could be considered highly appropriate.
Five Years ago Marcellus murdered a 23-year-old naïve, young and very white school teacher, Beau Zabel, who moved from Minnesota to Philadelphia to “make a difference by teaching black youth in the inner city”.   
White boy Zabel was murdered by Black-man, Marcellus Jones, because whitey only had an iPod and Jones was looking to jack  iPhones for reparations.     The Cracka’  was carrying the wrong gadget and that frustrated his robber – so Marcellus Jones shot him.

PHILADELPHIA – The suspected killer stewed in Interview Room D as detectives prepared charges against him in a crime that he could not escape – the five-year-old killing of Beau Zabel.
Marcellus Anthony “Ant North” Jones had been “mouthy,” as one detective put it, during Wednesday morning’s drive from Graterford Prison to Police Headquarters.
Investigators had retrieved Jones so they could book him in the 2008 killing of Zabel, a teaching student from Minnesota gunned down for his iPod near the Italian Market as he walked home from his night shift at a Starbucks.
The killing of a young man who had come to Philadelphia just six weeks earlier to teach math in the inner city pulled at the conscience of the community five years ago. (more…)

There are times when you read something in the media so completely flawed in its construction that a response is demanded.
It takes a remarkably highly toxic injection of obtuse to drag me back into the Zimmerman V. Martin conversation, but this recent article by Leonard Pitts Jr hits just the right formulation to require such a response.
Leonard Pitts Jr.: Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman – who’s the real thug?
Pitts writes “[…] a conservative movement which argues with airy assurance that American racism died long ago, disproves its thesis with its actions“; as he outlines how, in his perspective, any attempt to deconstruct the false media narrative around the Trayvon Martin shooting is evidence, by itself, of racist intent on behalf of the deconstructor.
In order to totally miss the point, completely avoid the actual motive of the critical engagement, and allow himself to assign racist intentions, Mr. Pitts continues this level of critical race analysis by saying:

“[…]  Why did some of us need Trayvon to be an angel in the first place? Why did they feel such a pressing urgency to magnify — and manufacture — his failings? Why was it so important to them to make him unworthy of sympathy?” (link)

Your question can be answered in one word Mr. Pitts, honesty.
