CLAYTON • There will be no announcement Sunday from the St. Louis County grand jury hearing the Michael Brown shooting case, sources have told the Post-Dispatch.

The grand jury is to reconvene Monday. – A decision was widely expected this weekend, but the grand jury is still gathering information. Barricades went up outside the county Justice Center and county police headquarters in Clayton on Saturday in preparation for an eventual announcement.
Protesters have been preparing to take to the streets if Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson is not charged in the fatal Aug. 9 shooting of Brown, 18, during a confrontation in a street beside an apartment complex. Police have been readying for increased protests, and Gov. Jay Nixon has called in the National Guard for extra protection of some locations.
SECRET BY LAW  – Whatever the grand jury decides, how its members arrived at their decision — and the votes for or against an indictment — will remain secret by law. (more…)

UPDATE:  Multiple sources tell CBS News that the announcement of a grand jury decision in the Michael Brown shooting case is not expected before Monday.

A 12-member jury is weighing whether to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, who is white, with fatally shooting Brown, a black teenager who was unarmed, on Aug. 9.
The case triggered months of protests on the streets of Ferguson, some of which turned violent. Some activists are calling for widespread changes in the way police officers interact with the community, race relations and socioeconomic factors that led to the unrest.
To that end, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon appointed 16 people to the Ferguson Commission, which will study the issues and recommend action steps in a Sept. 2015 report. (link)

Tonight the Ferguson Protestors caused a serious car accident with their road blocking nonsense. They charged into the street and a motorist had to take evasive action to avoid hitting anyone. The driver slammed head-first into a light post.

Riddled throughout President Obama’s Executive Order speech last night was something more than prosecutorial discretion and/or non-deportation.  Extensively disbursed throughout the proposal was a claim of lawful “work/employment status”.

[…]  Now here’s the thing: we expect people who live in this country to play by the rules.  We expect that those who cut the line will not be unfairly rewarded.  So we’re going to offer the following deal:  If you’ve been in America for more than five years; if you have children who are American citizens or legal residents; if you register, pass a criminal background check, and you’re willing to pay your fair share of taxes – you’ll be able to apply to stay in this country temporarily, without fear of deportation.  You can come out of the shadows and get right with the law.

Later in the speech Obama condescendingly referenced the way he views the work of illegal aliens:

It’s CNN, and they’re quoting “city officials” so take it with a grain of salt.  The last time CNN proclaimed this type of exclusive insider information it was about the Police Chief resigning, with similarly described sources, and that was a SERIOUSLY WRONG claim.
CNN is reporting if Darren Wilson is cleared by non-indictment, or no true bill, he will resign from the force.
Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) — Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed teenager Michael Brown on August 9, is in the final stages of negotiations with city officials to resign, according to people close to the talks.

Wilson maintains he hasn’t done anything wrong, and the resignation talks have hinged on whether a grand jury returns an indictment against him in the death of Brown, people close to the talks said.

Wilson has told associates he would resign as a way to help ease pressure and protect his fellow officers. Wilson has expressed concern about resigning while the grand jury was hearing evidence for fear it would appear he was admitting fault. (more…)
