There is not an organism alive on the planet which, given all possible conveniences, will not consume every single resource immediately in front of it.  Period.

Put a bacteria into a petri dish of broth and the bacteria will continue to grow until every ounce of energetic expansion resource (broth) is consumed.

Put an endless bowl of consistently good tasting food/treats on the floor and every cat and/or dog in your home will grow fat.

Put an endless supply of continually fresh and great tasting food in front of a person and they will grow fat.

It is the inherent state of unbridled biology, within every single organism, that all resources will be consumed unless they have cognitive and spiritual connection to virtue. (more…)

Why was Ambassador Stevens in Benghazi Libya on 9/11/12 ?
Who was the CIA Station Chief in Benghazi Libya on 9/11/12 ?
Where are the victims of the terror attack ? Why have we not heard from them ?
What did Obama do after 7:18pm (DC time) on 9/11/12 ?
Why did the Turkish delegation not see any issues at 9:30 pm when leaving the compound ?
… or did they ?

IRS:

If it’s not a scandal then why is there a Justice Dept investigation?
If it’s not a scandal then why did IRS head Lois Lerner plead the fifth ?
If it was not even remotely a scandal then why did Obama call an emergency presser to announce his outrage ?

Recent reports are indicating CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell was the person inside the intelligence community who was working to shield Hillary Clinton.  Mr. Morell  spent two years as the head of the CIA’s main analytic arm, the Directorate of Intelligence 2011 and 2012.

Morell became the interim CIA Director when General Petraeus stepped down due to his personal issues and convenient for the administration extra-marital affair.   [ Eric Holder’s FBI was holding all the investigative information over the affair – *wink* *wink*]

A September 15th, 2012 email from the Benghazi CIA Chief of Section, soon to hit the media cycle, essentially states they had been trying for days to politely say to the top of the CIA -political side- Benghazi was a direct terrorist attack and could not understand why the political side (career Morell manipulating story to non-career Petraeus) was spinning another story.

In the direct language contained within the memo the Station Chief underlined it was NOT a spontaneous protest turned violent. (more…)

There is a considerable amount of chatter amid the blog-o-sphere for an interview Hugh Hewitt had with former Clinton White House Counsel Lanny Davis. [ Transcript here ]

Most of the attention has focused on the final segment question where Hewitt challenges Davis to summarize Hillary’s accomplishments as Secretary of State, and Davis cannot name one:

LANNY DAVIS: … more time, which is at some point, at some point, if she runs for president, Benghazi and every other issue she’s being criticized for, and I happen to believe that there are only a handful of people that hold Benghazi against her. I don’t think that that’s a serious political issue for her.

HUGH HEWITT: Okay, then give me one more thing.

DAVIS: But she’s got to do it. She’s got to do it if she runs for president. And she knows that.

HEWITT: All right, one question, you’ve got a minute. Summarize for me what she accomplished as Secretary of State.

The shift in fortunes among the largest and most influential outside political groups could have an enormous impact in the 2014 election cycle, as the warring Republican factions prepare to square off in a series of Senate and House primaries around the country and as Republican leaders seek to rein in activists who they believe have fractured and endangered the party with policies that alienate independent-leaning voters. (Volokh Conspiracy Blog – Via Washington Post)  There was a small furor yesterday over an MSNBC staffer’s intolerant views of conservatives and the political right. Erik Wemple at the Post published MSNBC’s apology, which announces that a staffer was fired. You can also follow the dispute at New York Magazine, Reason, Michele Malkin, Instapundit, and Gateway Pundit (which captured the fullest screenshot of the now-scrubbed tweet).

My interest today is not in what happened or in the responses of MSNBC and the people it insulted, but rather in the substance of the claim: that people on the right side of the political spectrum would be opposed to mixed-race families including an adopted child.  This follows a somewhat similar MSNBC kerfuffle over jokes implying that an African-American grandchild was somehow out of place in a Romney family photo.

I thought perhaps a little academic light might clear up some of the press’s ignorance about adopted and step-families in America (the Romney case). (more…)

(New York Times) The former Port Authority official who personally oversaw the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge in the scandal now swirling around Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey said on Friday that the governor knew about the lane closings when they were happening.

In a letter released by his lawyer, the official, David Wildstein, a high school friend of Mr. Christie’s who was appointed with the governor’s blessing at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls the bridge, described the order to close the lanes as “the Christie administration’s order” and said “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference” three weeks ago.  (continue reading)
