Ohhhh there’s a shocker, history repeats…. Duh, this is soooo typically French, they were the primary country begging every other NATO country to enter war with them, and here they are once again ready to cut out before the check arrives..… (Sun) — The French yesterday sensationally insisted military action in Libya must end. It came as President Nicolas Sarkozy made a surprise visit to French troops in Afghanistan – to announce 1,000 will be pulled out by the end of 2012. France said the Nato bombing campaign in Libya could not oust Colonel Gaddafi and diplomacy was the only solution – even if it meant the tyrant retaining limited power. (more…)

(MADRID) – Smugglers may be selling sophisticated Libyan army weapons to Al-Qaeda’s offshoot in north Africa’s Sahel region, Spain warned Thursday after a US-European security meeting in Madrid.
News out of a Madrid meeting between Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and European interior ministers is that there are new worries that Libyan government arms might be flowing to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). According to Spain’s interior minister, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, “There is arms trafficking at the border between Libya and Mali and this has to worry us because it could at this moment be supplying sophisticated weapons, which are therefore dangerous, to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.” And, “If we don’t do anything, AQIM could take advantage of this situation to grow, and if AQIM grows so will the risks faced by Europe and the United States.” (more…)

I’m so angry I could just spit. Just begin the process of cutting off funding already !! Make Obama take to the airwaves and explain himself, force the White House to explain how this is not a war. The American People are smart enough to see through this fabricated non-sense. But they are not reading “letters”.. ..How can the President actually claim the military action is not “hostile”? He cannot. Yet he is. Why? Because congress is letting him. Force Obama to explain himself, force him to reveal his dictatorial agenda. Period. Boehner needs to put his face in front of every camera 24/7 demanding the President withdraw troops, or immediately come before congress and request permission. (more…)

This is the Obama Administration’s attempt at a justifiable reason to avoid seeking congressional approval for the War in Libya. This is profoundly important issue to engage in consideration and discussion.... WASHINGTON — The White House, pushing hard against criticism in Congress over the deepening air war in Libya, asserted Wednesday that President Obama had the authority to continue the military campaign without Congressional approval because American involvement fell short of full-blown hostilities. In a 38-page report sent to lawmakers describing and defending the NATO-led operation, the White House said the mission was prying loose Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s grip on power.

In March Obama Cites War Powers Resolution In Letter To Congress Announcing Libya Strikes. In a March 21 letter to Congress explaining why he ordered military strikes against Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, President Barack Obama noted that he was writing the letter so as to be compliant with the War Powers Act. Now, Obama claims that the Act does not apply to U.S. military action in Libya. (more…)
Responsibility to protect? Yeah, right….. (The Atlantic) — Six in 10 Americans don’t think the U.S. should be involved in Libya, according to a new CBS News poll. It found that only 30 percent of Americans think we’re doing the right thing by intervening militarily in that country. That includes majorities of Republicans, Democrats and independents. As a point of comparison, 51 percent of Americans and a majority of Republicans think we’re “doing the right thing” in Afghanistan. The Libya numbers are bad news for the man in the Oval Office. Usually I try to refrain from passing severe judgements against an entire group. With the possible exception of MoveOn.org there are generally people within any group that possess some semblance of capacity for logical thought, and even within MoveOn followers there are some who recognize the rabid collective echo-chamber of supporting Big Labor at every possible opportunity. However, this recent rebuttal article by Think Progress in support of The Muslim Brotherhood is bizarre to say the least. Here is the story: (more…)
Yemen is going to end up in the hands of al-Qaeda Arabian Peninsular, it is not a matter of “if”, it is a matter of “when”, so while the Yemeni President Saleh is in Saudi Arabia rehabilitating from assassination attempt (certain never to return) chaos reigns. Into this “chaos” enter the CIA and U.S. military with a prime opportunity to engage in drone and air attacks against al-Qaeda operatives without regard for collateral damage. Basically unlimited ability to wage air war under the guise of supporting the regime. We are bringing hell from the sky. WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, exploiting a growing power vacuum in the country to strike at militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, according to American officials. WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House brushed off congressional demands for a detailed report outlining U.S. objectives in Libya, a move likely to stoke further anger on Capitol Hill over President Barack Obama’s decision not to seek lawmakers’ consent for the military operation. White House spokesman Jay Carney said Monday that administration officials were already answering questions about Libya in briefings on Capitol Hill. A House resolution calling on Obama to provide more detailed answers was “unhelpful,” Carney added, suggesting that the administration has no plans to formally respond within the 14-day window outlined in the measure.
