A growing national database containing school students names, addresses, test scores, learning disabilities, attendance records, disciplinary actions, extracurricular activities, vocational and technical training…. [household income, parental political affiliations, voting records, gun registrations, criminal histories, regulatory and compliance activity, IRS tax records, Obamacare medical records, known affiliations, religious beliefs, car registration, purchasing habits, energy consumption, carbon footprint compliance, etc.] ….for contractual and/or employment review, dontchaknow… Gee, what could possibly go wrong ?

RFID Tracking chips on school ID’s.   Take home laptops with GPS and spy-cam functions.  And…  Oh yeah, and those pesky ALPR (automatic license plate readers) are for what use again?

NEW YORK – In an unprecedented move, education officials will hand over personal student data to a new private company to create a national database for businesses that contract with public schools.

Working with the city, state education officials are already uploading private information about students — their names, addresses, test scores, learning disabilities, attendance and disciplinary records — into a $100 million database called inBloom. (more…)

North Carolina – An undocumented student at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill who became a national cause célèbre in recent weeks as a candidate for student body president lost his election bid Tuesday in a landslide defeat.

UNC junior Emilio Vicente, a public policy major who was thrust into the spotlight after publicly acknowledging that he is not a U.S. citizen, lost his bid to represent the students of the public research university by a vote of 4,760 to 2,681, or 62.9 percent to 35.47 percent.

Prior to Tuesday’s election, Vicente – who describes himself as a “feminist” – had become the darling of left-leaning celebrities, earning praise and endorsements from the likes of Al Jazeera and actress Eva Longoria, for example. (more…)

(Via Daily Caller)  A student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada was forced to issue a formal apology for emailing a picture of President Obama kicking open a door–all because some students thought the image was somehow racist.

The image was actually an edited .gif, and was shown by Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” last fall. It humorously suggests that the president may be fed up with press conferences.

McGill student Brian Farnan, vice president of the university’s student government, sent out an email with the .gif and the harmless caption, “Honestly midterms get out of here,” according to Legal Insurrection.

Karen Gray Houston, a local reporter for Fox 5 DC, interviewed a few straight-A middle school students who were rewarded a pizza party at their school and made them feel bad that the party excluded “B” and “C” students.

The party, which happened during the last period of the day, featured free pizza, soda, games and a DJ. Students with all A’s were invited to the pizza party while students with some B’s, and C’s were only invited after the pizza was served. The report says that students with even lower grades were not invited at all.

Houston, who was reporting on site, could relate, saying, “Speaking of not getting an invitation, we were not allowed inside for the party at Eastern Middle School either, so we know a little about what it’s like to be left out.”

The students who were interviewed by Houston all answered in the affirmative that the party was indeed fun and that they were proud of making straight A’s. Then  Houston shamed them for reaping a benefit of hard work: (continue reading)

ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE BELONG TO US ! – Two things to consider as you review the outline “School Gets Kids to Snitch on Parents“.

First, do you remember the Wisconsin School Teachers Union, and their activity around opposition to Governor Scott Walker’s financial reforms? If you do you’ll remember the teachers bringing students to protest with them, along with Madison University students and the fake doctors notes that resulted in investigations of fraud.

Secondly, if you read George Orwell’s 1984 you might remember Winston Smith’s mindless neighbor Tom Parsons, who believed all Party doctrine unquestioningly. Yet he wound up undergoing state torture because his state-indoctrinated brats were encouraged to turn him in for being a thought criminal ?

Wisconsin School Gets Kids to Snitch on Parents – The game is called “Cross the Line” and many outraged parents believe that it does just that.

A middle school in Marinette, Wisconsin got a group of 5th-8th graders together and organized a really fun game that asked students to step forward to answer “yes” to a series of highly personal questions.

Questions like:

Do your parents drink?
Do you cut yourself?
Has anyone in your family been to jail?
Have you ever wanted to commit suicide?
Do you or your parents do drugs?

Unbelievably, school administrators believed that this “game” would help the kids to be better and kinder friends. “The intent of this activity was to build stronger, more respectful relationships among students,” said Principal Shawn Limberg. David Simon, a former police beat reporter in Baltimore, MD and creator of the popular television series, “The Wire” implies that Libertarians in America are “greedy” and decries Libertarianism as a “juvenile” idea that he “just can’t get past….”  

Clearly upset that Fabian ideology is not taking root in the 20-somethings community, while the Libertarian movement is growing as an identified political affiliation in the cohort,  he gave a speech in Australia in November, 2013 at the “Dangerous Ideas” conference declaring “Libertarianism in my country is now being taken seriously as an intelligent mode of political thought… it’s astonishing to me… ” (around the 8:00 – 10:00 mark) and then goes on a screed to deliberately disparage and attempt to dismiss the Libertarian school of thought – including the assertion that Libertarians are “anti-government” (as Moyers chuckles along in agreement…)  Fraidy cat!

Students at Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord wanted to come up with ways to observe the occasion during a lunchtime celebration Friday. But when the school announced a menu of fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon, other students and parents became offended. (more…)

“The children belong to all of us” ?   Hmmm.  How positively Clintonian.

(CNSNews.com) – In addressing criticism of the Common Core national  education standards, a panelist at the Center for American Progress  (CAP), a liberal think tank, said critics were a “tiny minority” who  opposed standards altogether, which was unfair because “the children  belong to all of us.”

The CAP was founded by John Podesta, former chief of staff to Bill  Clinton and now an adviser to President Barack Obama.  At a CAP event to  promote Common Core on Friday, CNSNews.com asked about the critics who  say federal monetary incentives attached to Common Core is driving the  states to implement the standards.
